Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L is USM Lens. This is a great default lens. This is the lens you keep on your camera because with it you are ready for most anything. Much like it's L-Series 24-105mm f/4 predecessor, but with improvements; It has a programmable band around the lens that can be set to control any function. By default it is set to control the iris apertures- exactly what I want because on older cameras/lenses, the aperture dial was around the lens barrel. Very nice to have it there again! Also, the zoom is nice and tight (at least when new), so if you point the lens down and do a long exposure, the result will be a focused shot, no 'zoom lens creep.' I can not say this about the older EF-mount L-series version, which creeps all the way out if I point it at a 45° angle. I also think this lens focuses better in the corners at wide open aperture, as compared to the earlier Canon lens. Now, the older EF-mount L-series 24-105mm f/4 was proclaimed a great lens by most reviewers, and it was more expensive than this lens. I own both and can say without question that this lens is a step up. Maybe a couple of steps up. This lens functions like a pro lens; but don't use it in the rain, this is a telescoping (tromboning) lens. Any lens that physically gets longer when you zoom it, sucks in lots of moist air and will eventually be ruined by the internal humidity. The advantage of the tromboning design, however is that is gets really short and fits well in your camera bag. I would recommend this lens, it feels just right and functions very well on my new EOS-R.

Ultra sharp all the way through the zoom range, even wide open. Great contrast and color. I've never experienced anything like the new R system with the RF lenses. Just incredible. Total game changer.

Best all around kit lens for Canon by far! Very few of the Rf lenses have IS. Don’t overlook it because of the max F4 aperture. Canon was not lying about the 5 stops you’ll gain with IS.

Purchased this for my Canon R. It is a spectacular, well crafted lens. It focuses fast, really fast, as if it didn’t happen. It is weather and dust sealed and the images are extremely sharp. The control ring is brilliant, I’ve been using it to control the ISO, so convenient. Looks like I’ll be investing in all RF lenses from here on out.
The lens came from Dodd Camera brand new in it’s original box complete with all paper work, lens case/pouch, and hood.

The fact that this considered the kit lens for the EOS R and RP just shows that Canon is taking Mirrorless seriously. It’s remarkably responsive and the added functionality of the control ring makes dealing with difficult or changing conditions a breeze.

Shooting handheld at very low shutter speeds is a breeze with this lens. Excellent sharpness with moderate vignetting that's easily corrected in post. No problem with lens creep, but there is a bit of knocking inside if carried with the lens fully extended.

This is a great lens. If you’re planning on just taking shots in one location and not carrying it long distances or up hills, this is perfect. The photos are gorgeous.
I did wind up returning because I’m using my camera for steep hiking and this was really heavy. Also expensive because it’s meant for newer cameras.

I have found this lens to be a very sharp and impressive lens. It works well for street photography since it has good range and is reasonably fast (f/4). To get a faster RF lens at this point would cost quite a bit more money and I just didn't see the value for my particular needs. This is a bit of a heavy lens, and the build quality is very, very good.

I think this is currently the most affordable L glass (red ring) RF mount lens Canon currently sells, and it's still not cheap. some call it the "kit lens". Don't be fooled by that either. This works and feel like a lens 3x as expensive. The images are razor sharp, like, I look at some and sill say wow. The focus speed and quietness are astounding. You'll think it's not even moving. It is absolutely a must-have every day carry lens.

this is definitely a huge improvement over the ef 24-105mm f4 as it is much sharper. Also I was able to update the firmware from canon's site. I like the fact that Canon decided to make the lens hood that comes with the lens reversible like the sigma lenses instead of being snap on like the ef lenses where you would have to store the lens hood in a camera bag. Kind of weird to have a canon lens that has the lens creep lock on it as most of mine don't have that...only my sigma and tamron lenses have the lens locks

Wow, I have owned both copies on EF 24-105 lenses but there is no comparison to RF Copy. This lens is sharp and focuses quickly/silently. I have tried using EF lens with EF adapter on my EOS R but wasn’t satisfied with results.
Update ** The lens continues to blow me away with image quality- other RF lenses from Canon have steep pricing and make it difficult to expand my RF glass.

This is the best lens for all situations. Very sharp. All pictures were taken hand-held by using canon R6. You don't have to buy any expensive lens unless you are professional. Images stabilization on R6, and this lens is fantastic. I am using it indoor and outdoor. I am very happy. I have used canon MK 5d IV with canon 24-105; it was great too, but this combination is best and fun using. Canon's R6 and this lens's Image Stabilization is top rated. Overall 5*****

I have purchased several brands of 24-105mm lenses by different manufacturers. This one has a constant f/4 throughout the focal range. Also, it is tack sharp from edge to edge at f/4!! This RF lens is wonderful. It is in an excellent class by itself. Wow.

This item fell apart once I opened the lens for zoom. it's like every piece came apart in my hands and tumbled to the floor. I'm assuming that this was a manufacturing issue or some kind of damage in shpping issue unfortunately. so I was never actually able to use it. i re-purchased one at bestbuuyy and it feels good while using it on the camera.

I have taken the lens with me on several hikes already, and bought it as my utility lens for an upcoming trek to Nepal. The versatility of the lens is remarkable, and I am very satisfied with the image quality so far. It is hard to believe that it is a F4 lens!

I love the image quality this lens provides on my new EOS R. Extremely fast focusing. It is a great range of focal lengths for a walk-around lens. Great value for the money. Even better than my EF 24-105.

Killer lens, might be the most versatile lens available for the RF mount. A 2.8 would have been perfect for me, but I don't have the heart/budget to spend $2000 for a lens.

This product has rather poor contrast and low light performance. The build quality is great but the lens is very slow. The zoom range is perfect for we'll lit portrait subjects.

If you're looking to get into the mirrorless cameras and not spend to much on a lense. I think this is a great first lens to get.
The quality of this lens is super high. Even at an F4 you great good separation of the background and your subject.
