very satisfied with the purchase especially on daylight image quality for pictures and movies. as with all small sensor camera, low light image quality is so so but i can live with it.

Great build quality and feel. cannot wait for some form of TX2 with 1080p and wider angle lens .

I'm partial to Canon products. My camcorder is a GL-1 that I've used for about 8 years and its still making good pictures. Their lenses are excellent. So, a Canon still cam was a natural and the A1000 had the right price. Supplier service was excellent.

I usually shoot with a DSLR and wanted a small compact to carry all the time. Does a good job, still trying to figure some features out to get the best shots. Works well and has a ton of choices.

Ive only taken a few pics with it so far(36) and they have all come out perfectly.What Im enjoying most is learning the different features that the camera has to offer. Before I had a Kodak camera, and let me tell ya; the difference is like having a hotdog and a steak. There's so much more to the steak.

The camera is adorable and the pictures it produces are beautiful. The camera is fun and easy and I highly reccomend it. I am a fan of anything Canon and this lives up to it's name.

I SENT IT TO CANON FOR THE REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY, BUT IT COST ME ABOUT $18.50 FOR UPS OF A BRAND NEW CAMERA.
I THINK THE QUALITY CONTROL OF CANON SHOULD NOT BE THAT GOOD ANY MORE.

I love this camera. It is very user friendly. I like to take pictures of my grandchildren and this camera takes great photos. I am so pleased with Canon that I decided to try one of their printers and, so far, I am very pleased.

I love this camera. I love the zoom, I love the macro, and I love the ISO feature. The pictures are sharp as can be and the options are endless for my needs. It's easy to use once reading the manual. Cropping is a breeze on zoombrowser which came with it. I have discovered more of a love for photography then ever. I have taken the most beautiful macro pics of my kids that I have ever seen. Nature pics are going to be all over this house in frames!! This is definitely the best camera I have ever used for my family. I have had other canon power shots, but this is the best one. I have rechargeable batteries so that is not a problem. I buy the 2GB cards and they hold tons of pics. If I can find the link on here I will include some macro flower and sea glass shots.

For me... it was between the 590is(8MP) and the "Sony Cybershot DSC-W170"(10MP) , But after test using the two brands, the 590is just dominated, with the quality, options, and price. Also you can't zoom in-and-out on the Sony while recording video, a key option for me. It's a great starter camera, very pro-like and easy to use. I bought the 590is, a Canon tripod, and 8 gigs of memory, and STILL! had $60 left over.

First, the pros: This camera packs a lot of nice features into a small box with easy to use buttons and a small price tag. As a rule I've found that blurriness/darkness/brightness/etc. tend to be the photographer's fault much more than the cameras, and if you use the camera a lot and get familiar with the controls you can generally find a way to take care of the problem. One feature I love is the color change: black and white shots are clear, sharp, and dramatic and can make a pretty bland subject more interesting, and portraits come out great. There's so much more detail that you would miss in a full-color photo. Sepia photos are antique-looking, and with a few props you can take photos that look just like the ones you might see in a Civil War book. For a beginning digital photographer, or someone who doesn't make high demands on a camera, this one is pretty sweet.

Now, the cons: first, plan on either buying rechargeable batteries or buying a lot, because this camera burns batteries like they're going out of style. This could be because I took nearly 500 pics the first week after I bought this camera :), and probably this camera doesn't burn batteries faster than any other model in this category-I've heard digitals are notorious for spending batteries. Just thought I'd warn you. Secondly, plan on getting at least one additional memory card. The included card takes about 15 Medium photos before the you have to upload-very annoying. The zoom is ok, especially if you utilize the digital zoom, but at just 4x it's not quite enough for my taste. It's great for normal use, but to capture that shot of a bird (or something) in that tree way over THERE-you may want to look into a few more "x's". It's also a little slower than I would like-it's "point-pause-shoot." Which means someone can make a face at the camera and have looked away before you get the shot-so it's not so great for children or active pets! Also, it's not a "click-click-click" continuous camera; there are a few seconds between the time one picture is taken and the time the camera is ready for the next.

Overall, despite my critism, this is a great starter camera that goes far above and beyond the conventional film cameras most amatuer photographers have (the birthday/Christmas 35mm cameras that are limited to a flash, a viewfinder, a shutterbutton, and a wriststrap) and I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't make big demands on a camera, like really fast speeds and a powerful zoom (most people don't, I expect, need pro capabilites!) and who just wants a versatile camera for taking pictures of the kids (or the parents, whichever the case may be). It's pretty simple to use, it can give clear tight closeups of objects within its range, and with a little practice it can fill most people's needs, I think.

The range of features is incredible for such a small camera. Although I am not much of a photography buff I have enjoyed experimenting with different shutter speeds, apertures, lighting etc. The AUTO setting takes very good pictures with quick recovery for the next shot. Connection to a PC and printer is very easy.

My wife and I did quite a bit of studying all cameras before we bought. The reviews and ratings are a great help. We have had this camera for a month now and it does great for us. We don't care if have a zoom read out as with the good sized viewer and active grandchildren, it's all we need. We haven't changed batteries in it yet and is used almost every day. Very easy to operate and download to the computer or printer. My wife took beautiful flower pictures up close to frame later. I did purchase the kit for this camera at a very reasonable price. We haven't used the battery charger yet and the carrying case was fine.

The Powershot A590IS is a great value for the money. Easy to use and great picture quality. Great as a backup camera or your primary!!

I would have given this no stars if I could. As soon as it arrived I would have returned it but it was part of a promotion and came free with the Canon IXUS 80. (Total price reduced by the cost of the sock) I have since ordered the DCC-60 leather case that I should have bought in the first place. Much better looking and practical. If you want to keep your camera in a sock you shouldn't need to buy one.

Camera is fast and takes great pictures , I haven't had it very long , but what I've seen so far I like !!!

I am extreamly happy with this camera, it does everything I wanted it to do. Great zoom, and Great macro. Perfect for all types of photos.

Went with Cannon based upon the recommendation of someone who uses cameras for a living. Great price and I am just learning the functions, I will use this camera often.

After doing quite a bit of research on this camera, I decided to buy it. Although the camera seemed like a great deal for the price, it is very slow. Once I press the button to take a picture, it doesn't actually take the picture until a few seconds later. By the time it takes it, my subject has already moved. I found it extremely difficult to take a decent picture due to its speed.

Needed a replacement to my lost Powershot 6.0MP. This is basically the same camera at a great price ($116). No problems with picture taking, photos turn out great. Only annoyance is the zoom mechanism which is smaller than previous versions and difficult to master one handed. However, this Canon is adequately known as one of the best all around "simple cameras".

This camera has many great features you would find on an expensive digital camera. It functions well and withstands drops even on tile floors! Great value I recommend it 100% to any person looking for a small camera with lots of features.

Good camera but came with a dead battery that runs the date/time. Not sure if the camera has a defect and it shorten the battery life, or a bad battery. The replacement battery was hard to find, and that is another problem. Besides that, the camera takes very good picture, but a little noisy.

This is great camera!, after reviewing different models and brands I choose this in particular and I have been using it in every ocassion that I can. Although it has an ¨Auto mode¨ I prefer to use it in the ¨Program mode¨ which lets me modify the settings according to my personal needs and it works fine! I am thinking in getting in the future the cannon G10 for more serious shots.

Ordered the camera and it turned up on time, perfect condition and at a price that I could not beat.
