The recovery time from after a flash photo is abysmal. Slow. I dropped my previous Canon which had four batteries and weighed more. Well I miss being able to shoot when it comes up and this camera is just fine out doors, but you will not like the flash.

I recieved this camara 3 days after I bought it so the shipper was very quick and on top of it. I am giving this camara as a present so I haven't had much time to play with it, but from what I have experenced its a really great camara. It dosen't take forever for the camara to take pics and has about every option on it as a professional one from what I can tell. The only con is that is a little more bulky then what I thought it would be, so dosen't fit in your pocket very well but still a great buy!

The Canon Powershot SX10IS is great. This is the third Canon Powershot SX I've had because Canon keeps adding new improvements. The controls are easy to use and understand. I take wildlife picures out my diningroom window and at 20X zoom it's like they're right outside the window. The pictures are clear and bright. I would highly recommend the camera to my friends.

My objective in buying this camera was to get a bigger (10x) zoom compared to what I was using (3x). This camera also has more pixels (8MP vs 5MP) than previous.
POSITIVES: Love the zoom, works well. Picture quality is excellent.
NEGATIVES: This camera is HEAVY! and it's big; while it fits in my pocket like my other one, it's not very comfortable. Buy a case & put it on your belt. It's also very complicated, and I know I'm not using it to max potential. I've just found a setting that works, and I'm ignoring the other 10-12 dial options; I just want to take pictures! It's also a heck of a lot faster than my last camera, so I'm relearning timing on motion shots (jumping horses).
OVERALL: Heck of a nice camera, probably more than I need but well worth the price. Wish somebody made a nice, simple, no frills 10x or higher camera; I'm sure I paid for a zillion things I'm not using and don't need.

There really is only one camera at this price range that's worth considering and this is it. It was recommended to me by a proffesional, and gives fantastic results is easy to use and goes with the family everywhere.

Good for general photography. Like the options with shutter and aperture priority. Software is easy to install and is user friendly. Only negative has been capturing sporting events. The delay makes it a guessing game when attempting to stop action.

I bought the Powershot S2 IS on amazon just over a year ago.. worked fine till just out of warranty, then all the pictures began to come our overexposed. I sent it into Canon and they want 157 dollars to repair it or replace with a refurbished model. It cost 259 new! I wrote them and told them that I expected a lightly used expensive digital camera to work more than one year, but no dice. I'll never buy another Canon. Beware!

There have been plenty of reviews on this camera so no need for me to go into detail but just to confirm it is a great little camera and a great price.

I bought this camera for my teenage daughter for Christmas. It came with a memory card and was shipped very quickly. I researched consumer reports and this camera was recommended as the best, low priced, digital camera. My daughter loves it. The picture quality is great.

This product is easy to use. I gave this gift to my mother who only just recently bought her first computer. She really does not enjoy any technical gadget but she enjoyed seeing our digital images. I wanted something that was easy to use and would produce nice images without need for major assistance since we live so far away from her. She was able to learn how to use this camera with little help and is taking great pictures. This is probably the first gadget she has ever loved because it is so simple to use.

I rushed into buying this camera because the holidays were so close and my older CANON had broken (only 2-3 years old). I can't provide a lot of details but the lag time when taking the picture is very long and worse when you try to take several pictures in a row. So far this does not seem to be a great camera, despite positive reviews I read.

This camera arrived quickly in good shape. I was able to try and take some pictures and the results are good. My daughter also tested out the video part of the camera. She is having fun checking it out.

I really like this camera. It is fast, reliable, good size and it take really great pictures. I do like the fact that uses 2 regular AA batteries.

After many years of using only Olympus cameras, I bought the SX110 as a secondary compact camera and am truly amazed with its quality and feature set:
* The manual controls are great for creative photographers
* Image quality - superb
* Optical 10x zoom is excellent
* Battery life is better than expected (about 3 days of shooting)
* IS works great as well

One problem I saw (which is common to most compact cameras) is some visible noise especially when doing long exposures at night.

All in all, a great buy (and even the price tag was a nice surprise).
You won't be sorry. I know I wasn't...

The camera is very good for the price. The only cons is the flash recharge takes quite a time. A little more zoom would be nice, but you can get that with taking another step up in price.

I was going on vacation and needed a camera, this one reviewed well so I bought it.

The manuals are too small in size, not much bigger than the camera itself, which makes them hard to read due to the small printing size (my brother's older Canon came with a manual the size of your hand- at least with that one you can read it more easily)and they (a basic and advanced manual- keep both of them because they refer to each other) seem to be written more for an experienced photographer, not the near total novice. Do buy the Nimh batteries, the supplied alkalines only ran me less than 60 shots, a second set I had along ran over 300 and my power usage wasn't really power wasteful on the first set. The Nimh batteries ought to do you better- I hope.

As suggested by the manual I did practice around with the thing and got things going well enough (note: nowhere does Canon bother to tell you that the internal clock is 24 hr, not 12- I got some shots miss dated because of that- 1 pm is 13:00, not 1:00 and so on before I realized how things should be set and that there is no 12 hr setting). I generally shot my pictures in Program mode although some bright/ or overcast shots seemed to do better in Automatic- didn't really bother with most other settings. I tried the folder setting, not sure yet if I have it right, the movie setting does work well (I kept it at top resolution) but the built in microphone is useless for good sound whether you're in the windy outdoors or a relatively quite church (I did both), the built in speaker is even more of a joke. Playback on a TV or PC looks good, my current Pc is too old to meet the specs but my brother's year old laptop recognized the camera without his having to load the software. I used the close up settings (a tulip and MF) several times, tulip was good but I could never get much done with MF. The manuals don't really explain either of the icons but I did get along with tulip, my brother's Canon has a ribbed wheel to turn for MF focusing- just a crummy little lever without much control for this camera, it never would stop just where I wanted it to.

I do like the flip over monitor, even though cleaning instructions aren't given that I could find, image stabilization would be nice- I deleted several shots that could've been saved if the A630 had that.

I don't really regret buying the thing but Canon needs to improve a few things before I'd be really happy about my camera.

Got it the day we left for vacation. very easy to use with alot of extras. Took some great pictures! Can't beat it for the price. The Alkaline batteries that came with it lasted along time before we had to use rechargeables.

This camera was everything I expected and more. Very user friendly. I had been using film until now and I am not disappointed. The quality of the photos with 8 megapixels are great. So many good points and options there are too many to list. I did my homework, and this is the best small digital camera for the price range. I put a 4 G flash card in it and I am very happy.

I have used canon digital cameras for years, they are clearly the best although used to suffer from problems with shutter lag (essentially the time between pressing the button and it actually taking the picture), I bought a samsung but was disappointed with the picture quality so I returned it and bought the A640 instead. I have used it for aproximately 2 months in all conditions and taken approximately 1,000 pictures.

I am very pleased with this camera, the quality of the pictures is the same as the G7 which is approximately £100 more. I struggled initially to take pictures at night time however it is relatively easy to take night pictures using the easy settings and they do turn out ok, although I wouldn't say it is the best I have used for night pictures.

The quality of pictures in good conditions really is faultless though, they are so clear and the quality is amazing. The LCD screen which you can angle means you can take pictures easily from different angles which you would struggle with on a normal camera which is a fantastic feature.

I have been using energiser rechargable batteries (2200mah) which take approximately 600-700 pictures with one charge. It takes 4 AA batteries so best to use rechargables!

Fairly easy to use all the setting and a good fairly solid build quality. The surround around the lens at the front could be a little better though.

It is not the smallest camera, if you want a tiny one look at the IXUS range although their picture quality is not quite the same as the powershot range.

One the whole I would highly recommend this camera, even someone with reltively little camera experience can take some fantastic pictures with a great picture quality, you will not be disappointed with this and for £200 the price is brilliant for the pictures you can take. Well worth the money, every picture I take has fantastic quality and the shutter lag is very short unlike some of the older canon cameras and causes no problems.

We looked a long time and read hundreds of reviews for various camera's for my teen daugher. This got great reviews and I couldn't beat the price! My daughter's favorite color is orange so that was a perk to the product. The camera is great, she is thrilled!

camera came on time from vendor. The camera is bulky, and battery life is awful. I also had issues with the lens. Although, at its price point you cant beat it. Plus Canon makes a good product, I just wish I upgraded to the Elf model.

Great camera - my first digital and it's so easy to use. Just point and shoot.

i already on a canon 530 and i wanted a little more clearer picture and a i thought the stabilizer would help but it works the same as my 530 and i told a sell man in circuit city the problem is the same and he said i needed a 10 mega pixels and that would do what i neeeded he said that there is no difference in the 530 and the 590 but there suppose to be a stablizer in the 590 but i had the same camera.

The appeal of the SX10IS was its super-zoom lens. When carrying my regular cameras might be too cumbersome and awkward, I'll just slip the SX10IS into my dashboard compartment and feel I can cover most sudden desires to snap a few shots. The camera's performance comes close to excellent.
