inexpensive and easy to use-takes great pictures. Unlike other cameras in this category-you can buy an adapter and add accessories like super wide angle or telephoto lens-polarizer-trick filters etc. Getting it from Amazon was a breeze-super fast free shipping.I'm very pleased with the transaction and the product.

If you're looking to purchase a camera, I would seriously consider adding this one to your research list. Below are the major Pros and Cons. As you will see, the pros are much more numerous than the cons, but the it really depends on what's important to you.
PROS:
-Great picture quality. Those 8 MP really pay off.
-Wide range of options. Choose from differnt types of lighting available, sharpness of the pictures, ISO ranges, and app settings.
-Ease of use. I personally monkey around with it before my pictures to get the best quality, but your waitress could grab it and take the picture without having to get a lecture on usage.
-Fairly accurate rendition of the picture on the LCD screen
-Big LCD screen
-Adjustable screen. This seems strange to need it, but it comes in handy ALL THE TIME. I'm a young guy, so my friends and I are always taking pictures of ourselves when we're out, so the screen can turn towards the front of the camera to accomidate. Also, you can angle the screen so that you can take the pictures in strange positions and still get good view.
-The digital zoom is 4x. This is huge. The most I've seem besides this was 3.5x. It also has a 16x optical zoom, which is nice, but shouldn't be confused with digital.
CONS:
-For some reason, there is no image stability on this model. Earlier and later models have them, but not this one. If you don't know how to play with the ISO settings, then this could be an issue.
-Low-light pictures can be another issue. Again, there are ways to monkey areound with it, but if you don't want that extra work, that is an issue to consider.
-Macro settings are nice, but on a camera of this caliber, it really should also have a super macro

Very Nice Camera! Great Zoom! I have had an S3, S5, and now the SX10. All three cameras were great. The S3 had better movie clips than the S5. The SX10 has better video than the S3 and S5. You are limited on video according to the size of your memory chip. I have had this camera for two months and have not had any problems. Great Camera..

I read the other reviews and was very excited to buy this camera. What a disappointment. It was a pain to take a picture and all the pictures were poor quality. The shutter was very slow and the quality was bad. I ended up going back to my kodak easyshare that is only 4mp.
Amazon was great about the return tho!

Canon PowerShot SX10 IS - digital camera
I purchased this camera recently and found it to be a very good and user friendly. The 20x zoom works very well with sharp images at this level.
The 10MP is good for photo enlargement. I have been a photographer for 40 years.

Just received this item yesterday and have put it thru the typical workout. The battery issue that has been reported by some here does not seem to be a problem using 1400 MAH rechargeable NIMH batteries. These are low powered older batteries and I haven't even tried my 2700 MAH MAHA brand batteries in it. Probably won't bother.
I'm a professional photographer who has a fondness for point and shoot camera's to hack around with. I'm amazed at the features of this camera for only $220 INCLUDING SHIPPING. I've purchased five point and shoots and so far, this one is the best of the bunch. I still like my A95 because of the swivel, adjustable lcd monitor.
The image quality of the SX100 is more that adequate for the price range. The Image Stablization works very well, just as advertized. Very intuitive features and layout, especially if you're accustomed to point and shoots, and especially with Canon's.
I even turned on the digital zoom and got some very nice 40x images, considering the price of the camera. I am not a fan of digital zooms but this is again, more than adequate, if you need it in a pinch.

I thought this camera was pretty good, until the LCD screen cracked when it was less than a year old. Of course the factory presumes that the owner caused the crack due to an 'impact', so the repair is not covered by warranty and the repair cost is almost the same as a new camera.

I received my camera in September 08 shortly before my birthday. I have a budding interest in photography and have been experimenting with different cameras. This is the third camera I have bought in the past year. The price was unbeatable and it has more features than my previous camera which cost over $300.00. My step-father saw my camera on Thanksgiving and ordered three. One for himself and two as christmas gifts for other family members. The camera is super easy to use and makes fantastic shots. I bought this camera to take photos of my pets and family gatherings. This camera is great, the price is affordable (even in today's economy) and it super easy to use. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone. The pictures come out perfect.

Superb case to protect your camera. The inside is lined with a soft fleece-like lining keeping the camera protected from knocks and scratches, and the opening is secured with a large piece of velcro keeping the camera secure. There is also a belt loop stitched to the rear of the case. All in all, you can't own one of these cameras without this!

I really don't know what everyone is complaining about!! I love this product!
I've got an Ixus 960 & a new 980 and it fits them both perfectly. And whilst yes it won't offer the same level of protection as "normal" case it's fun and much easier to slip in a pocket or a handbag....
And for god's sake it was FREE!!! Lighten up!!!

I purchased this camera for three reasons. The first, a review in Consumer Reports rated it as a RECOMMENDED buy. Second, it takes 2 AA batteries. I wanted a camera that just took batteries for ease of use. Third, it's a Canon!

I have bought two of these cameras within the last twelve month and find them satisfactory in general. Somewhat difficult to follow the instructions. I consider it a good value for the money.

This is an inexpensive but very good product. It is easy to use, takes great pictures, and is very flexible. My only complaint is that when taking videos, you have four choices for quality, one which is small and poor quality but compact, and three that are very good but take up a large amount of memory. I wish there was some medium format or mpeg4 format that would be easy to use. Still, I would highly recommend this camera.

Great camera! Does tons of stuff. Will take me quite a while to learn it all. However, it is very nice to see and know that it will not only do what I'd hoped, but a whole lot more as well.
It's a very good camera. Amazing actually.
Pricing was excellent. I'd rate it a "Best Buy" as of Jan 2009.

Have not had this camera very long but know that I will like it. Love the zoom lens. Photos with the tele-converter are clearer than with a digital zoom, so the actual length of lens available is more than 560mm. Clips in movie mode have been clear and of good quality (30fps). It more difficult to set the 'scene' options than on other canon cameras, but think this will get easier with practice. At the widest angle of the lens (28mm) the lens hood gets into the picture so it has to be removed before shooting.

Spent ages deciding wether I should go for this one or the panasonic. My brothers got the panasonic I got this and I made the right choice. You can just take simple snaps with it on auto, however if you get the time a want to be a little more artsy, then there's plenty of settings to create a myriad of effects! Buy it!
