I didnt expect much from this camera but I was remarkably surprised. It takes great pictures and adjusts automically if you hold it sideways or straight..thats pretty neat. I compared prices for this camera and it was at the best on amazon.

Excellent quality camera purchased from JR at a reasonable price. I am very pleased with all aspects of this purchase.

I shot the same scene, at 60 mm, using "Auto" for the Canon and "P" for the Nikon. (The Nikon lens was 24-70 mm 1:2.8 ED.) The photos from the Nikon were a little sharper and a little more pleasing in colors. BUT not worth the c. $4,000.00 difference. Victor G Zilinskas

no negatives whatsoever....extremely easy to use, creates huge files which are great for enlargments without pixilation, takes many faces in focus rather than just focusing on one part of frame...I love it !!!

This is a great camera and I consider a good investment. The cost was great and the pictuer quality is fantastic. What a great camera.....

I got this camera mainly because of the Consumer Reports Best Buy rating. It has so many features inc. the movie capability. I also got a 4GB Transend HDSC memory card and can actually get almost 30 minutes of movies. Its amazing how you can get a camera of this capability for this price.

Fantastic shots, great solid feel, professional results. Don't believe people saying that 14.7mp is too large for a sensor of this size, none of the shots feel like they've been crammed. Taking such massive photos even in superfine mode is very fast.

The camera was recieved quickly and as ordered. I have used the camera on a number of occassions. The pictures are clear and the camera is easy to use.

Unfortunately, I only had this camera for less than a week before the LCD went out on me. Obtaining service for the broken camera was certainly a bit of a hassle and I had to pay for shipping back to Canon. Regardless, the video quality of this camera was spectacular (while it worked). In addition, the digital pictures were as good as most of the pictures from my digital SLR (a Canon rebel).

This camera does struggle a bit in low light situations with a fair amount of graininess and dim illumination. In outdoor situations, the camera is unbelievable and is virtually indistinguishable from a video quality standpoint when compared to my friends 1080i $1000 digital camcorder that is three times the size and three times the cost of the TX1.

The camera also struggles a bit from an ergonomic standpoint. The buttons controlling the record function, zoom, and picture are difficult to reach. In addition, the camera does not balance well with the LCD screen extended on its base (it has a tendency to tip to the left).

The audio quality is excellent (much better then my Sanyo XACTI) and the video quality along with the optical Zoom and image stabilization are both much better than my Sanyo and Sony camcorders. Much has been said about the larger file format used by Canon but this camcorder works well with the larger HCSD cards and there are no issues using this camera with Apple products.

This work perfectly for scuba (and any less watery) picture taking. Amazingly all the controls can be accessed underwater. The case has never leaked, assuming that you grease the O ring religiously. You will need the separate stainless steel weight set to get the correct buoyancy if diving in salt water. Even the Video and Microphone work quite well under the ocean. I have been to just over 30m with no problems.

I use this camera just about everyday, mainly to take pictures of my kids and send to my husband in Iraq and my family out of state. I'll admit that I'm not tech-savvy, so I was hesitant about picking my first digital camera, online no less, and learning how to use it by myself. The owner's manual was very easy to understand. The camera comes with a 32MB memory card, so I went out and got a 2G one instead (about 500 pictures). Since I'm photographing my kids 99% of the time, I always leave the camera on "kids & pets" setting, so I can't comment of the other settings (there are several). The pictures turn out clear, even in low lighting. I can download the pictures easily, edit them as needed and send them to family. For the price I paid, this is a great camera. If needed I would buy this camera again.

I have enjoyed using this. Its is a nice small size and takes very nice pictures. For the price it is a great deal.

Right out of the box this camera was ready to go. It was easy to change settings and the pictures are very good.

My wife isn't in to complicated devices so just putting it on auto is perfect for her and I have options to use that she would never try.

The price I paid saved me over 20% of what I would have paid at a walk in store.

Except for the cheesy "cha-click" sound when you take a picture it's a pretty nice camera for the money. I kind of miss my Kodak pc interface...the one included with this one is pretty minimal and doesn't give you a simple way to remove the pictures you're transferring. The camera itself is easy and fast.

Took a trip with my new camera and I enjoyed it very much. I took 177 pictures without a problem. Zoom was great, shots came out great. No low battery problem at all.

This is a great little camera for the price. I would have prefered a smaller camera, but I love the "handle" it has: a slightly rounded edge. It takes great pictures and is easy to use for this camera novice.

Bought this for my wife for Christmas. She loves it. Easy to bring along when you leave the house. Very compact in size. Takes nice pictures for the price range. View finder was best feature.

I was looking for three features in a camera. I wanted a better than 4X optical zoom, a camera that records quality video (30fps with this camera), and replaceable 2AA batteries. I want to be able to swap out dead batteries instead of looking for someplace to charge them when I am in the woods. I am very happy with this camera. It is larger than most compacts and smaller than a SLR type camera. Happy medium.

I bought this camera after the flash on my last camera quit, and then it just wouldn't turn on anymore. Maybe I am cursed when it comes to digital cameras? I bought this one and the lens broke the next month, and I hadn't even used it much! Just one day when I went to turn it on, it said "lens error, please restart camera," and then immediately shut off. I had to send it in for repair, so we'll see what happens. I don't think that is acceptable for a new camera.

I will say that before the lens broke, the camera functioned well and took GREAT pictures. I was thrilled with it.

I have owned the A620 for a few years now and have to say it is one of the best, if not the, point-and-shoot digital cameras out. As people have mentioned before it's a little "heavier" than a plain PAS as there are multiple shooting modes and options. It is also VERY durable as I have dropped mine a few times already. I have noticed though that there are slight delays with the flash during heavy use..which is understable since it operates on 4 AA's. The pictures are OUTSTANDING follwing Canon's image lineage. You can also get after market tele lenses and etc. also.

The camera itself feels great and has a nice weight to it. It's not a light, cutesy, hip-pocket charmer. What I really like about it is the quality of the video. It has a "film" look about it..not that "live" video look..kinda cool.

I HIGHLY recommend the A620 if you are looking to move up a little from the cutesy pocket camera that you're toting around and to get some higher quality pictures.

i had a powershot A75, that i dropped too many times and now it does'nt work. That is why i got the A590IS. Although the new camera has more megapixals and 1x more optical zoom, the picture quality is very similiar. For the money, i don't think you can get a better camera. However, my computer won't download the pictures from this camera just yet. I've tried everything except reading the manual, so today i will do just that. i only gave this 4 stars becouse there are better cameras out there, but this camera is best in it's class I would say.

Had the camera for 1 month so far and was easy to use out of the box. Takes great pics with clear, focused pics. The only small down side is it takes about 5 seconds for the flash to charge between pics. But that's all that I've found that wasn't great. Would fully recommend. Get rechargeble batteries and they will last 10x longer than regular AA's.

This is a lovely little camera. Its very easy to use and takes nice clear photos. Its really simple to download them onto my computer. The only things you'll need extra is a case, and a larger memory card, as the camera only holds about 8 pics. But I still think it was a bargain and I'm well pleased with it. I would give 4 stars because of the lack of case amd memory space.

Great all-around camera for casual indoor/outdoor shots, videos, and close-ups. I'm having a lot of fun taking it hiking and skiing. Image stablization seems to work as the pics aren't as blurry as other cameras taking shots on the go. Definitely needed to add extra memory because it filled the tiny builtin memory taking a few dozen shots at full resolution.
