This camera has alot of different settings to take pics which will come in handy for those who use it alot. The pictures seem to look very good but the most important thing was finding a camera that had a viewfinder in case the lcd goes out. That and the time/date stamp were the deciding factors for me and i was happy to get it at such a low price.

Amazing quality. The 10X optical zoom is super and along with the image stabilization the picture comes out perfect. Can't wait to really try it out when I go boating and can take some nature pictures.

Don't really need 9mp. I turn it way down and still have to shrink the pictures to Email them. Guess if I turn pro I'll get some use out of it.

This camera is great. The zoom is amazing and the clarity is wonderful. The 3" screen makes taking and viewing pictures a breeze. This camera takes great pictures in low lighting conditions. One example...my old Olympus 5 MP camera took horrible pictures of my Christmas tree when lit. The picture would come out looking like a blurry fireball. With this Canon, with the flash off in the dark and my Christmas tree illuminated, the lighted tree comes out in perfect clarity. You can see each individual bulb perfectly clear. I was amazed. I will have this camera for a long time.

This PowerShot A590IS is simple and easy to use. I don't know much about photography and don't want to have to take courses to take a picture. I work in the Oil Field and come across some neat stuff. So it's fun for me to carry my camera in my truck and get shots of this stuff. This camera is easy to use to document and cover your tail with too. I recommend this one for anybody who wants a point and click easy to use camera.

I have been using this camera for last two months. Only problem I found is flash charging. Flash charging is very slow. Some times it could take 7-8 seconds which is annoying. Probably I need to buy good batteries.

Picture quality is good. Flash is powerful for taking photos in dark.

Camera received rave reviews on several different websites so I decided on this one. So far, I'm satisfied. Its really more for people who are borderline professionals so there are lots of features that I don't know how to use but I'm learning. I love it though!

This camera is a tremendous value at such a reasonable price. Pictures are excellent in color and clarity and the 10x zoom gives many options for creative photos. Image stabilization is always a must. Pictures are easily transferred to computer. Takes AA batteries but lithium batteries work great. Fast shutter which is fun when taking pictures of kids and/or animals. Has decent video recorder. Great camera for experienced photographer or beginner.

Camera arrived sooner than promised, and takes great pictures for a point and shoot camera. This camera replaced one of similar model, so no surprises with this camera.

Great little camera takes awesome 16X9 photos and records
HD videos in 1280 x 720 with 16bit stereo sound.

The best part is that the microphone has an auto level control so
if the sound gets to loud the level drops so the sound never gets
distorted, Awesome for concerts and shows in parks.

I had to purchase a little grip called CamGrip it screws in to the tripod
socket this little rubber grip is a great help, in holding this little camera
because its so small at times it's hard to hold. the grip helps a lot.

As for memory cards you will need to purchase big ones
if you are planning on shooting lots of videos get a 16 GB SDHC card.
16GB will give you 50 minutes of HD videos

16GB cards are getting cheaper you could purchase them for around $60.00

As for battery life i get around 40 minutes if you don't zoom in and out too much,
from the Canon battery.
I have seen up to 50 minutes without zooming.

This camera exceeds my expectations. Although said to allow manual control this is limited to a choice of two aperture settings and an infinitely variable exposure. Not ideal. However, other features such as the manual focus exceptional.

If I had known it takes so long for the camera to be ready for the next picture, I would have bought something else. If you want a camera that takes a picture when you press the button, buy a different camera. Or, if you want a camera that can take multiple pictures quickly, buy a different camera. This is a great camera for taking group pictures, outdoor pictures or things that don't move. Don't buy it to take action shots. You'll miss every one of them.

This camera probably has the best zoom lens among point and shoots under 300 bucks. The F2.8-4.3 works well with ISO400 without flash for indoors, concerts etc. AA NiMH rechargeable battery will give you over 100 shots without Flash. Flash recycle times are over five seconds. The macro mode pictures are excellent.

The biggest minus is the cheap feel of the camera. While SX100 was made in Japan SX110 comes from China. My Sony DSC-H10 feels like a tank when compared to SX110.

SX110 has one stop ISO advantage over Sony thanks to Canon's fast lens. For scenes when SX110 picks ISO200, DSC-H10 has to pick ISO400. This causes noticeable quality difference for 1/2'5 sensor cameras.
SX110 is slightly smaller than it's predecessor and DSCH10 making it easy to carry in front pocket of Jeans.

Picture quality is good, but extremly poor battery life, very slow to recover from time taking picture to be ready to take again, foget it when using the flash up to 10 sec before it is ready to shoot again. Construction of camera seems cheap, very unhappy with overall perfomance, lots of features but not user friendly

Aye, this camera is great. I suppose I might be biased, this being my first digital, but I have used cameras borrowed from pals in the recent past, and didn't particularly enjoy them (which is why I wasn't too interested in a digi before).

Quick startup is a big bonus. On my trip earlier this year, I missed many opportunities for good photos with my pal's HP camera, as it took a few seconds to boot, and seconds between photos. The only video I took had to be tossed due to the 15fps blurry quality (and he had no memory card). The digital zoom was horrible, and indoors photos were really crappy - especially at night.

The 30fps movie mode in the A630 is wonderful for a camera of this price - I never use the 15fps mode at all - it's blurry and the picture is 'jumpy,' although if it's done outdoors with good ambient lighting, it seems to work a bit better. I quickly learned to navigate the settings, being a complete novice, but I still need to check the manual on a couple of items that I have no idea about.

Even though it won't fit in my pocket and is heavier than many, the battery life is great. I have the camera over a month now, have taken video, stills with and without flash, deleted and re-shot stuff, and still have not changed the original batteries. If this were my pal's camera, I would have changed batteries after about 8 or so shots. Serious.

I bought a 2GB SD card for it, along with rechargeables and a charger. The only off-key thing I noticed so far is that the images can get pretty grainy on night-time zoomed indoor shots where incandescent (normal) light bulbs are used. As one other reviewer said, I don't know if I have to tinker with the settings to fix this, but that's the only issue I have had.

So basically these things do it for me with this camera:

- Excellent battery life - AA size is easy to get and keep for emergencies

- Excellent video capture with sound

- Quick boot and inter-shot response

- Excellent image quality with little or no blur

- Nice features such as color swap and pre-sets for common situations, apart from manual settings for more advanced users.

- Foldable vari-angle LCD is very very useful - the screen won't get damaged once it's folded in - unlike those with the screen showing at the back. This is great for evaluating your shots, and the quality is pretty good for a small screen.

- Image quality settings allow for maximized space utilization on you SD. (GET a 1-Gig or larger card!)

Drawbacks:

- Some grainy zoomed indoor shots (moreso in nighttime video capture)

- Larger than expected

- Haven't been able to find the correct carrying case up to December 2006! What?!

- Causes me to waste time instead of preparing for my exams! :)

Overall, an easy-to-use, excellent camera, straight out of the box. Would recommend it (and already did - 3 of my coworkers are ordering it, so Canon please organize my cut).

It is my beliefe that the TX1 is a step toward a new idea. A camcorder slash digital camera, and it shoots in HD. I have many complaints about this product as most New ideas have lots of bugs that need to be worked out over time, Canon has them here. I wont bash it too hard but here is the Low Down, The Canon TX1 takes remarkable pictures, and very nice looking video, granted your outside. The flash is weak and video looks terrible indoors, in HD or not, it's Grainy and no better then pocket vid size quality. The 16:9 aspect ratio is nice, cool they put a black bar on top and bottom. My largest complaints are in the following areas. Focus is SLOW on recording start up, recording start up itself is very slow as well. It also makes this God awful Metal scraping sound when you turn it on. Dont try to film nature, it will scare everything in the forest for miles. The screen Super Small and quite honestly hard to read, and software isn't new at all. Every function works the same and of course no new themes, you'd think after 6 years they could come up with a new theme other then the birds chirping. The analog on zoom doesn't work very well, when trying to achieve a slow zoom you'll find it speeding up and slowing down now matter how hard you try to hold that thing steady. I will say that the Image Stabalization is pretty darn good at full zoom you could be impressed by that, however My final verdict is this.
I have a Canon sd500 that is 7.1 MP same as the TX1 It shoots Videos at 640 that have better quality then that of the TX1 The photos are JUST as good the screen is a whole Inch bigger and the Focus is flawless and right on the money every time. All at Less then Half the cost of the TX1 I would not recomend this product to anyone unless they plan on shooting nothing but outdoor shots in the city with plenty of sunshine.
Simply Not worth the Money..

I have a Canon S2iS and an SLR, the Rebel XSi. I wanted to give a camera as a gift to a person that is strictly "point and shoot" only, but might want more options later. This is one neat little camera (yes, it does fit in the shirt pocket)! A view finder for when the sun is too bright to see the display, standard AA batteries that are inexpensive and a little zoom (4X)to frame your pictures.

This camera was highly rated by over 250 reviewers and the major consumer magazine thinks higly of it too.

I first purchased a blue Kodak EasyShare M863 8.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Red) and hated it. The pics taken outside were horrible. I returned it and bought this. It takes nice pics, both inside and out. Easy to use. Battery life has been fine as well.

The only problem I found so far has been that the automatic setting does not take decent pics of children who are active. So, I have to put it on the children setting. Which is not a big deal to me. If you are looking to keep it on one setting all the time and not worry about it, then I suggest looking for another make/model.

I needed a good macro mode (close-up capability) to use at work to take photos of quality issues with our product (sometimes circuit boards). I've uploaded a close-up of a circuit board. The macro mode can focus to less than half an inch. In fact, the lens will focus so close, that eventually the lens is blocking the surrounding light. If you can set the camera on something solid during a close-up shot, then you can crank up the f-stop to the maximum of F8 for excellent depth of field.

This a replacement for a 5 year old Sony Cybershot (3.2 Megapixels). Image quality is decent but not noticeably different than my old one. Even with the highest quality image option selected, 8 Megapixels only takes ~3MB (good ;o).

This is rich with features, camera-manual probably covers it all but does not make it intuitive, unless you read it 5 times and try to structure the contents in your mind. So, you need to refer to manual often for probably months before you get used to all the features.

The software does NOT seem to support Vista. My laptop does not detect the camera when you hook it up even though it says drivers are loaded. I am having to pull out the memory card and load it directly to my laptop (or use my work laptop with xp on it).

No issues with shipping and the state of the product received.

I purchased a Canon A590 Power shot digital camera. Camera was superb and the results are superb even video quality is awesome.

BUT THE CAMERA I GOT FROM AMAZON IS OPEN< IT WAS NOT PACKED LOOKS LIKE SOME BODY HAS RETURNED IT. I NEVER HEARD THIS FROM ANY BODY THAT AMAZON CAN DO THIS. BUT THAT WAS MY FIRST AND LAST PURCHASE FROM AMAZON. I STOPPED AFTER THAT. SO PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS.

Be aware that if your Canon camera fails within the first year of ownership, you may be charged $109, ("Flat rate repair charge, + shipping") to get your camera repaired. If you are talking about a $200 camera, would you pay that? If you are deciding between two different brands, factor this in.

This is yet another one of the compact ultra zoom IS cameras. Canon seems to have played a delicate balancing game with this one -and hit upon a winning strategy. The camera's big points are great image quality at ISO 200 or less, IS for steady images all the way extended, a usable high ISO (not great, but usable - especially if you have something like noise ninja), light weight, AA batteries, and a video mode. Another bonus is a general Canon bonus, they do very little in the way of image processing in camera so the higher iso photos, while not as good as the lower, respond better to post processing than cameras that do a large amount of in camera noise reduction. The facial focusing is really a nice feature and the auto focus is lightening fast - I was quite impressed.

If you know the Canon UI, the SX100 is simply a wonderful refinement of it. Setting anything is almost completely intuitive. now if you do have big hands, the scroll wheel may be a problem, but that's about the only flaw that I could see - and for me, that wasn't even an issue

The downsides would be that there isn't RAW processing - but for a cheap camera, this isn't unexpected. The video doesn't let you zoom as its shooting - for that you'd need the S5, the wide end isn't all that wide, and higher iso isn't all that great (but better than other point and shoots (if you want quality here, you are looking at dSLRs) - and really those are the main downsides - all trade-offs I was willing to make.

At the end of the day, if the iso is less than 200, you'll get great photos. IS makes it easier to take tele photo images that aren't blurred due to camera shake - and it works well. If you are looking for a cheap, good, light point and shoot this may be the one.

This is a great camera. Easy to use, easy to operate. Takes clear pictures.I would buy it again. I would give as a gift. It is handy and worth it!
