One thing that can be offered with this product is a case. This is a product that you want around for a long time so having a case offered with the purchase would be an added bonus and a sure way to protect the camera from scratches, etc.
Thank you for a wonderful product!
Cynthia

I evenutally decided on the Canon Powershot A580 and I am really glad I did. Purchased online from Amazon.co.uk and delivered within two days along with a 2GB memory disk and carrier pouch.
My main worry initially was the batteries. My first camera, a Nikon Coolpix 2100 was horrendous, good little camera but seemed to go through batteries(rechargeables) very very fast and was very frustrating. The Pentax was reasonably ok but I was concerned when I read the Canon used alkaline batteries, but so far so good.
We went on a Med cruise end of August which is why I wanted a replacement camera and I was very happy with this camera. So far original batteries still going strong and very happy with the pics I took.
Also process of transferring pics from camera to PC appears to be easy and straight forward so would thoroughly recommend this camera for ease of use and reasonable cost and good picture quality.

If you are looking for a digital camera with more zoom than 5X, the SX 10 IS is the one. You will have 20X, Video mode in just a button, snapshot while filming, zoom while filming. Picture quality is superb, a lot of modes, like Auto, you just point and shoot, Manual, you perform your own scenario, and a lot more. If you like to make close-ups, the Macro mode is unique, you can put the object at the lens 0cm, and works perfect.
If I had to change something, I would give the lens more aperture, it comes with 2.8-5.7, I would like 2.8-4.5.
Go for it.

In the meantime, if you are going to spend $200+ on a camera, there are certainly ones better than this. I would take a little time and do some research - but the Kodak EasyShare is definitely a better buy.

Since I already owned a Canon Powershot A630 which has proven a very reliable piece of equipment, I suggested hom the same or the next generation for this camera. Unfortunately the budget was not enough and I had to go through an extensive research so he could have a good camera for not more than USD250.
This is what I looked for:
8+ Megapixels
10X optical zoom
Aperture and shutter priority
Buit-in flash.
Video recording
Ease of use (this should come first as primary requirement)
Light weight
low battery consuption (I didn't want him compplainig for battery life)
At least 1/2.5 sensor size. I've proven that picture quality loos can be easily noticed with smaller sensors.
This camera meets or exceeds most of my requirements for a not-so-low budget equipment. It's fast, reliable and the picture quality is very good for a non professional user.
I strongly reccomend the Canon PowerShot SX100IS is you don't have USD350 for your home use camera.

I noticed after having it a few days though, it has developed a CLUNK as I tip it forward and back. I can almost feel it behind the scroll wheel. It's not the batteries or card, so I'm wondering if it was there the whole time? or if something came loose on the insides.
Does anyone else have this issue? By the way, it's about 3 times louder than the side to side click you get from the mechanism that knows which way to turn the photo on the screen while reviewing.

I am giving this as gifts to my cousins and they love it.
