I purchased this as an upgrade to a Creative Labs XFi Xtreme Gamer card that decided one day it no longer wanted to be recognized by Windows 7. I was going to get another Xfi card, but I felt it was time to move on.I decided to go with an Asus card, since I have used their motherboards and video cards with great success. After reading many reviews, I felt this card was the best bang for the buck. As a regular headphone user, the built in headphone amp made up my mind for me. I also like the fact that it has a front panel connector on the card, really nice for those upgrading from onboard sound.Installation in Windows 7 was simple. I used the driver disc included. The software utility is quite handy and more intuitive than any Creative product I have used. I messed with it a bit but did very little to tweak anything. Depending on what game I am playing, I turn the Dolby 5.1 on or off. I am using 5.1 headphones, and the effect is noticeable, but it seems to add a little too much of a surround effect that I sometimes would rather not hear.In games it blows my old Xfi out of the water. Music sounds ok, definitely different. Maybe I should mess with the EQ a little.I am pleased with this purchase, price was very good. I mailed my Asus 10 dollar rebate after registering it online, printing out and completing a mail-in form, cutting out the UPC code from the box and sending it all in along with a copy of the invoice. I know it sounds like alot for a rebate. In this day and age it shouldn't require jumping through hoops but 10 bucks back makes this card a real bargain.

I installed this on my MSI Fuzion P55-A mother board.I am running a Intel i7-880 with a 1 T.B. hard drive with 7 pro and all is well.works perfectly.

First, I was very reluctant to buy this product because there was nothing wrong with my on-board sound. I have a pair of $20 over-the ear headphones and I wanted to squeeze every bit of sound I could out of them. Well, the different is very noticeable. The sound with this product is clearer, and with more extended bass and clear, smooth treble. The software and drivers are much better than onboard. For example, the EQ works much better. It has Dolby Headphones, which is really neat for movies.If you are on the fence about it because you don't know if it will give better sound quality - just buy it. It is a big step up in sound quality.I deducted 1 star because the product has a standard PCI version for almost half this price. Why raise the price so much just for PCIE?

I've been using this card for just over a month now and I love it. There are many effects you can apply or chose to leave alone and the Dolby Surround sound is just amazing for gaming.

This thing totally rocks coming off the back side with headphones and the virtual 7.1 engaged. The 5.1 is great to but it can't touch the 7.1. Like everybody else, the frontside not so good. I've tinkered with every possible setting and can't match what's coming out the back on the frontside. I was going gonna buy some new headphones from Amazon but have discovered I don't even need new phones with this card. So thanks Amazon for saving me the bucks. I don't ever want to take my headphones off now and will probably be deaf in less than a year.

In 90% of cases this card is great for the price. The headphone amp works well enough and the surround sound simulation and effects are all great. There are a few issues with some programs (EVE Online is one such program) and the driver software could stand for an update but for the most part it has worked exceptionally well.

gave it 5 stars since I didnt find any issues using it. great upgrade if your having issues with your old card like I did. switched to windows 7 64bit and the old card didnt have supporting drivers to play sound.

Pros: It's a very inexpensive sound card that can output pretty high quality 5.1 sound, plus it has an internal connector that could connect to either traditional AC'97 or HD Audio.Cons: Unfortunately, audio signals are easily contaminated with internal system electric noise, for both the backside audio output and the internal connector. For this price, I did somewhat expect it to happen, but the noise volume is relatively high.Other Thoughts: I need to add that system noise leaking through audio outputs is a compound matter caused by the sound card, motherboard, video card, and other system hardware. It might not happen to every system, but a high quality sound card could minimize this issue on its own.

Pros: Sounds good to meCons: Took me 2 hours to install the driver. I went online, found the correct driver form ASUS's website and downloaded it. The installation took forever and eventually gave me the message along the lines of "Insert Card" and, when I clicked "Try again" it did nothing. Then my computer would lock up. I used Driver sweeper in safe mode next, I removed all Audio Drivers on the machine. Then I booted normally and tried the installation again. Same error.What fixed it was INSTALLING the driver while the computer was in SAFE MODE. After that I booted normally and it was all set and worked.The program, once installed, seems to work fine and is decent.It would be 5 stars, but 4 for the driver difficulties.

I purchased this because the Xonar DG is known as the best entry level sound card. I'm please with it - install was easy and didn't have any issues with drivers. Has worked flawlessly on my 64-bit Windows 7 machine.

Worked perfectly right out of the box. No driver issues with my Win 7 64 bit. I connected it to my Denon Amp/AV system via the Optical Connection. PERFECT! Also supports full sound for my HDMI connected moitor. Perfect!

I recently built a new computer and was on the fence about getting a seperate soundcard, but when I read so many good reviews on Asus' Xonar card, I thought for the price, why not? The difference is huge! Asus hit the nail on the head when it came to making a card that would suit my needs, a guy who games and who listens to I-Tunes. I am truly pleased with the sound quality that I get with this card. Asus includes a software with different sound mode settings to get the most out of your system. It has to be one of the most bang for your buck things you can buy for your computer. I am so pleased at the difference in sound on the inexpensive 2.1 set up that I have, that I have opted to replace the set that I had with better speakers which should be in this week.Now gaming and listening to music is much more enjoyable with the new sound card. I HIGHLY recommend these to anyone who is thinking about getting a soundcard. This card will not disappoint!

Alsamixer won't give you a ton of channel options to work with, but the chip is well supported under Linux.

I must say it is better than the on board sound.I'm only running it through 2.1 stereo.No complaints.One can not beat the price for the sound.

All 5 channels (front pair, rear pair, center front) supported, but you need to configure a 5.1 mapping if you don't have a separate subwoofer. Have not tried line in (recording) yet, the optical interface, or the front panel interface (as I plug my headphones into my external speaker).

i received my item promptly. after installing everything the sound was just so amazing! i have the Sony SRS-A3 External PC Speakers hooked up and the sound is just amazing. loud enough as if sound coming from that of a surround system. it has features to play with so you can get the sound that's right for you on any genre of music. i haven't played with all the functions yet but you will get the sound you are looking for. And a new Asus soundcard at this price; you can't beat that.i would definitely recommend this to everyone!!! My music are alive again and i'm hearing words i've never been able to hear before in the musics...lol!!!!!

I went to control panel in vista and disabled onboard soundcard.Shut down computer,installed card,rebooted computer and used the cd driver disk and walla!Card works great,no more hummming or buzzing with or without headphones.I use KLIPSCH 2.1 computer speakers and they came "alive" they sound sooo good!I use sennheiser EH150 over ear headphones and wow my music never sounded so good!5 stars for sure!

Just got into movie making with sony vegas pro 11 and needed a soundcard to enable 5.1 on the vegas pro program. After installing the program i just couldn't get the 5.1 working when rendering the audio so decided to uninstall the program and just use windows 7 device manager to find the drivers off of the disc it came with. This seemed to fix the problem and it also made the sound card play properly, before it was just bad. Since I only use two speakers I don't need the program to install the 5.1 settings and equalizer on my computer. I am happy with the basic settings. So I would recommend this card for just 30 bucks and if you have problems just do what I did and install drivers only.

I installed into a Dell poweredge server I got from Geeks. It works fine. Win 7 does not have drivers, you must use CD that comes with card. Sound is fine for general use.

My sound card gave out and I needed a new one fast. This one looked like a good replacement so I ordered it. Arrived before the scheduled delivery. Works great.
