Colors seemed washed out, but after getting a color profile from Hardware Unboxed, seems to be ok now.

I really wanted to like this monitor. Had to return it for 2 reasons.
This monitor is a great performer and it does everything it says it does, except for 2 things that bothered me enough to return it.
Issue 1: It won’t wake up on its own when it goes to sleep for longer than 15 minutes. I turn on my PS5 and the monitor simply doesn’t wake up until I press a button on it. That’s not supposed to happen. I found a workaround by setting the PS5 to use HDMI CEC to tell the monitor to shut off, but this forces me to shut down the PS5 as opposed to put it to sleep. It worked okay as a work around but I ultimately gave up on the monitor for issue #2
Issue 2: this monitor has horrible inverse ghosting/overshoot when it’s running at lower refresh rates like 60Hz. Unfortunately, the PS5 forces 60Hz for 99% of its games for most of the time I was dealing with ghosting and teal streaks in the image.
Note: The VG28UQL1A works perfectly with VRR on the PS5. So that’s a plus.
I basically already own the older version of this monitor (VG289Q) which is 4K/60Hz but it has no ghosting issues at all. It’s perfect.

Fantastic picture quality, FRUSTRATING bootup issue
My first 4k monitor, the picture quality and framerate are both incredible and perfect for the price and once the system has properly booted it is an incredible monitor. That being said, my rating stays low until ASUS can provide an update to solve the bootup issue. Just wiggling my mouse to wake my PC can take a whole minute of the monitor attempting to connect correctly, over time I have found this more and more frustrating. Please update! I know you can do it ASUS, maybe a setting to disable the auto source finding process of this monitor because I believe that has to do with the issue.

Great, but dims regardless of settings. Incredibly annoying.
Enabling Gaming mode on windows 10 fixed the jarring partial lighting on mostly black display. However, despite disabling every setting that offers dynamic dimming or eco mode, the display still dims every few minutes and is unpredictable. There is no set time that would indicate a heating issue. I'm gonna ask ASUS about it, considering how much bloatware they shoved down my throat and the unnecessary BS they've cooked into their hardware like a really bright red LED on my 3090ti when the system is powered off. I don't need to know that it doesn't have enough power when my system is shut down ASUS! Also, my mobo takes forever to start up! Considering these, I'm sure they made dimming a damn feature instead of the annoying bug that it is. Definitely staying away from ASUS in the future.

A great reliable monitor for next gen gaming.
This is a great monitor for 4k gaming and everyday use. I tried using the Samsung Odyssey G7 but had to return it twice, once for clouding and excessive backlight bleed and the second time because it has horrible local diming problems that kept causes flickering issues. This monitor on the other hand hasn't given me any problems, It does have a bit of IPS glow, which is normal for these types of panels. I honestly don't really have any complaints about it, It has a variety of HDMI ports, which is awesome because it means I can plug in all of my consoles without having to buy an HDMI splitter. The picture quality is really clear and the colors are vibrant, I've tried it out on every console and pc, Both work flawlessly. It's fantastic with all the new gen consoles and definitely worth it if you want a reliable monitor. I just wish it was a bit cheaper, but these types of monitors are pretty expensive since it's new technology. Having it at 28 inches is perfect for me but I know most people would prefer a 32 inch 4k monitor.

Good monitor for PS5
The one thing I did not like is the box has damage holes on it... For the price I paid for the monitor I think it should have handled a lil better... The good thing is the monitor wasn't damage...

The color pops and the picture quality running with my PS5 this monitor was made for me.

Meh, definitely not worth the price
It’s definitely 4K, but I’ve seen 1440p monitors with better quality and responsiveness compared to this one.

Beautiful but use headphones
Great picture quality, but the volume leaves much to be desired. Had to buy additional external speakers to be able to watch anything from any amount of distance at all, even with the volume jacked all the way up on all levels (browser sound, system sound, actual media sound).

This works as it should and the picture is perfect. My only complaint is the difficulty in changing inputs. Other than that, I love this monitor.

Blk Friday Deal but it’s secondary Sales item.
Nice gaming monitor but not a good dealer. I bought this item on black Friday, and the price was $509.99. When I received the package, it looks like a secondary sale, with a lot of packaging tape on the box, and the same inside, I mean if just like this, I don't mind. But it has a broken pixel on the screen!!! That pissed me off. Because of the packaging tape, the box was broken when I open it, so I throw away and the garbage truck toke it, so maybe I can’t return it.

HDR not so good in very dark scenes
Overall this is a great monitor. This is my 2nd Asus monitor and I'm very happy with the quality and performance. The HDR not so great in dark scenes 😕. Other than that it's great graphics are impressive in 4k clear and crisp.

A solid choice for 4k at a 144 refresh rate

I picked this monitor up to take full advantage of my gaming rig and upgrade from a 1080p 144hz monitor. It was exactly what I was looking for and has performed well and met expectations gaming performance. Friendly reminder that you will need a display port cable to reach 144hz refresh rate; HDMI will only enable 120hz for this specific monitor.

ASUS really came through with this 4K Monitor usually the TUF brand isn't as good as the ROG's brand, but this Monitor proves ASUS is putting more into it's TUF brand.

Excellent UHDR monitor
I purchased this monitor to replace a principal monitor for a 2-monitor setup I have. (I use the VG28UQL1A as my main monitor for gaming.) The VG28UQL1A is quick, responsive, and has vibrant colours. Two words of caution, though, and they're not related to the monitor itself: (1) Windows 10/11 many not play nicely with this monitor in a 2-monitor setup, and it may be related to the GPU drivers. I've noticed performance improvements with Windows / GPU driver updates. (2) You *may* need a robust GPU to drive this monitor. I have an AMD Radeon VII which drives my 2 monitors nicely, but be aware that YMMV.

Bang for buck
I upgraded to this from an ASUS MG28UQ 4K 60hz monitor and I gotta say it’s a big improvement with the 144HZ. I was physically comparing this to the LG Ultragear and stuck with ASUS because it’s an inch bigger and offers built in speakers. To most those things may not be a big a deal but I appreciate the simplicity of this monitor and could care less for the RGB backlight the LG Ultragear provides. Highly recommend this monitor.

Good but with some serious bad optimizations
Picture quality is pretty solid out of the box, but have serious problems over hdmi 2.1. This technology is simply not ready for PC already.
1. No support out of the box for 144hz on HDMI. It need overclock to reach 144hz on hdmi 2.1 and for me it caused some serious black screen flickering. That is advertised when you overclock at that point. But with the Samsung G70 it have 144hz out of the box and no issue on that side so far.
2. Very poor image quality on DIsplay port, haven’t try to calibrate myself cause of the significant brightness decrease. Compare on the samsung G70 after a little bit of tweaks you can have a very decent picture quality over Display port.
Well maybe it was a faulty unit, i was pretty satisfied with Asus product in the past, but this one isn’t make it.

Not the brightest. Dead Pixels
As many people are saying in the reviews. The monitor itself doesn't get that bright for HDR. Also, my monitor came with a dead pixel (Update: returned it for another monitor f the same. Also came with a dead pixel.) Other than that it's a pretty solid monitor, but expect a dead pixel.

Best monitor I've ever used
This is hands down the best monitor I've ever used. I was slightly worried about shipping this item but luckily UPS did a good job. During testing this monitor does 4k 120hz on the Xbox Series X very nicely, and the colors and brightness are the greatest I've ever seen in a monitor. I plan on updating this review down the line but initial thoughts: I am extremely impressed.

So far so good.
Pretty much meet all the necessary requirements but no Dolby vision. Immediately noticing a difference upgrading from my BenQ 4k 60hz monitor.
