Edit 2.12.2013 - apparently the board will run Linux, but I cannot personally attest to that.-----------------------------------------------Build details (hardware from Amazon):This boardIntel Core i5-3570K Quad-Core Processor 3.4 GHz 4 Core LGA 1155Corsair Vengeance Red 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1866 MHz (PC3 15000) Desktop Memory (CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9R) (2x4Ghz)Windows 7 Pro 32 bit Service pack 1--------------------------I'm not going to go over or list the board features, all that is well documented on the Asus website, but I will highlight missing stuff or unexpected included features.First off, the ONLY operating systems the board will officially support are XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8. You Linux types (I are one of those:-) ) need to look somewhere else for your build. [EDIT: apparently Linux will run on the board but I have no direct experience.] If you are still using Vista, I will ask why? Dump that turkey. If I remember correctly, XP won't support USB 3.0 or SATA 3 which are board features. This Asus board replaced a two year old Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P build that started spontaneously shutting down (like you pulled the plug) and occasionally giving me the 'blue screen of death', ironically an almost identical build (my big tower) has had stability problems almost from day one of the build. Replacing the power supply and memory didn't cure the problem, so time for a new build. Before my two Gigabyte builds, I had an Asus board that ran faithfully for three or four years and I only retired it due to being too far behind the performance curve, so it seemed like a no-brainer to return to the warm fuzzy feelings I've always had for Asus mobos. This board has a good layout with everything nicely positioned for easy access. One very minor complaint is the SATA connectors face forward and not straight up from the board. Since both side panels are easily removable on my Gigabyte mid-tower case, there was no problem with connector access. Note if you need Firewire (1394) or Bluetooth, this board does NOT have those features. It does have Wi-Fi GO! - an included WiFi module (only 2.4 Ghz band) that you need to install *BEFORE* you mount the board in the case.A *very* cool build feature is a separate little header where you can plug in your HDD LED, power, reset, speaker connectors and then you plug that header onto the appropriate pins on the mobo. This is so much easier than trying to get the individual connectors onto the correct pins on the mobo. This board easily overclocked from 3.4 Ghz to 4.1 Ghz with Asuss' AutoTune, I was very surprised at how effective that feature is - even when rendering video, my CPU temps never go above 60C (at maybe 60% CPU load.) And all of this is with the stock Intel cooling fan. With the relatively mild overclocking (it should OC to at least 4.5 Ghz if you have better CPU cooling), it is extremely stable - I have yet to have a stability issue over a several day period (I have not run Memtest or stressed the CPU though.)Speaking about cooling, the board will accommodate two 4-pin CPU fans and three 4-pin chassis fans (you can use three or four pin fans.)Since I'm not a gamer, the on-board iGPU graphics is fine, if I ever feel the need for better video performance, I'll drop a graphics card in.An install tip for you, if replacing a motherboard and keeping your existing operating system and hard drive (not a fresh OS install), you need to make a change in the BIOS before you can boot into Windows. Go into the BIOS settings and select Advanced> Advanced> SATA Configuration> SATA Mode Selection> and select IDE mode. Then install the drivers. This setting automatically changed back to AHCI after the drivers were installed and we rebooted.Asus is doing a great job of releasing BIOS updates, the latest is 1616 as I write this review, one of your first tasks should be to update the BIOS.Asus' utility suite, AI Suite II (2.01.01), works and works well, I'm puzzled about the all of the negative reviews and feelings about this suite. One minor gripe is with the Probe II monitor utility. Here you can set alarm parameters for voltages, temperatures (CPU and mobo) - the complaint I have is the lowest fan alarm rpm you can set is 600, problem is my chassis fans will spool down to 300-400 rpm. I'd rather have the fans spool down than run them at a minimum of 600 rpm to keep the dust bunnies out of the case.Wi-Fi GO! is interesting. I played with the remote desktop feature on both my Acer Android tablet and my iPhone 3gs, both worked and worked well. Also, Wi-Fi GO! provides plain old WiFi connectivity, there is no need to use any of the gee-whiz features of the application utility.A caveat when you install AI Suite II - Avast did not like the software and kept it from execution, I had to exclude the Asus program directory from the Avast scan. Your security application might also have issues with the Asus suite since it is accessing the hardware/BIOS. (I got tired of Avast nagging me to u

Well, I decided to finally take the plunge and upgrade from a 1998 year (32bit/x86 2x750 P3 w/ 1GB RAM) box and buy a 64 bit system. Since I do not like eye-candy crap and just wanted something that would work, I figured I would go along with the majority and acquired the following:ASUS P8Z77-V LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel MotherboardIntel Core i7-3770K Quad-Core Processor 3.5 GHz 8 MB Cache LGA 1155 - BX80637I73770KCooler Master Hyper 212 Plus CPU Cooler with Four Direct Contact Heat Pipes (RR-B10-212P-G1)Corsair Vengeance 32 GB DDR3 1600MHz PC3 12800 Quad Channel 240 Pin Desktop Memory CMZ32GX3M4X1600C10Seagate Barracuda 7200 3 TB 7200RPM SATA 6 Gb/s NCQ 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive ST3000DM001Pioneer Electronics USA Blu Ray Computer Drive, BDR-2207B5PKCooler Master HAF 922 Mid Tower Computer Case with USB 3.0 Ports (RC-922M-KKN3-GP)I tried the best I could to keep parts/components conservative looking, while maximizing performance for programming and office use. (Very little games here.)Back to the motherboard opinions, although it does definitely appear to be slightly faster then my old beautiful Tyan 1832DL 2x750 P3 w/ 1GB RAM, I'm so far not pleased with the early 2012 (0806? from memory?) BIOS that was shipped with the P8Z77-V. With both TPU/EPU enabled or disabled, the BIOS kept complaining about bad overclocking values. Being no dummy, and seeing the flakiness of the BIOS as it rebooted, I upgraded the BIOS to version 1606 (2012.08.31). The motherboard immediately ran much better, problems likely attributed to the newer CPU/Memory, but doesn't explain why the BIOS originally couldn't handle the issue better. (Seems like a GUI slapped over an old BIOS.)I do not like any of this eye-candy crap on everything. However, the current market offers little choice. The EUFI graphical BIOS looks nice, but I find using the mouse to be more of a hassle. Personally, I think this EUFI BIOS offers little over the ten year older BIOS and EUFI was likely created as a distraction away from LinuxBIOS/Coreboot to give TPM/Encryption for secure Microsoft booting. However, I realize people have to protect their proprietary property such as Movies. So far, all these BIOS and motherboard features don't seem to be of much use to me. I also yanked the wireless out (for now). I will, after installing Fedora, install WindowsXP and try installing all the extra software Asus provides to see if the additional s/w is of any use for my needs. Seems most of this stuff is geared to gamers, but doesn't seem to offer much, even for gamers, except for hype. BUT, all the other motherboards seemed much much worse!I had one slight issue getting the board seated in the case and properly aligned with the back ports plate. The DVI/VGA ports wouldn't easily seat (under or) into the aluminum spring tabs.Everything else was packaged fine. No apparent bent CPU pins. Plenty of ports. The labeling of ports/LEDs/pin-outs could contain larger print. I'm content with the number of business use features the board supplies.Aside from my critical review, I am still very pleased with my purchase as I could have been stuck with a motherboard without a COM port! ;-) (The reason a COM port is necessary, is for diagnosing early boot problems. This can be performed on a USB2 port, but requires an additional $100+ for the USB device to perform the same activity as a COM/Serial port.)For the next week or so, I'll update this review. I will try to exercise the board with a game to see if I can see any of the other problems others have stated. My guess though, others got one of the too many BIOS clocking settings screwed-up as there are so many of them.2012.10.11 - No problems yet. Installed Fedora-17 and Gentoo (compiling a full system within just hours).2012.10.12 - Hibernate works without any apparent problems. Compile the kernel with Hibernate support along with specifying your swap device in the kernel .config file. Add "resume=/dev/sda6" to your grub/lilo boot loader file and reboot. After restarting and back within your environment, "echo disk > /sys/power/state" just works effortlessly. The p8z77 board does have some basic VT optimizations if the CPU supports it. Again, very pleased with this board and my hardware combination choices!2012.10.13 - If you don't like WIFI and are considering not installing the additional WIFI chip, think twice because the mounting screw is inserted through the bottom of the board and the WIFI chip will only be able to be mounted prior to mounting the board inside the case. I first decided not to install the chip, but realized later the WIFI might be beneficial if I ever traveled with this computer -- likely requiring WIFI access. The case I'm using is much lighter then the ten year old ATX cases, so it is possible. Best to go ahead and install it and just disable the driver for now.2012.10.13 - Both hibernate & suspend just work in Linux. "echo mem > /sys/power

I purchased this motherboard (from Amazon) before the first reviewer posted his review, so when he said this board doesn't work with the Ivy Bridge processor I was worried. My Intel i7 3770k Ivy Bridge worked great, however. It booted up immediately with no problem. I have no idea what issue the other reviewer was having.I picked this motherboard because it seemed like one of the most recent releases, which I assumed would have the latest and greatest technologies, and hopefully minimal design flaws.Looks: Very nice looking in my Corsair 600t. Very clean and well colored. Internal headers are in decent spots, except for the CPU power connection (it is at the top of the board which gets in the way of my watercooler).Function: Boot up worked great. The diagnostic LEDs next to each component were great for helping me identify why the system wouldn't boot at first (I didn't jam the memory sticks in hard enough). Board gets pretty hot while gaming (70c on the on-board heat sinks). I put a side fan in the case to blow directly on the board heat sinks, which seems to help a little. I imagine its like a cool breeze on a hot day, which I am guessing the motherboard appreciates as much as I do. I haven't tested thunderbolt. All the internal headers seem to work well. Haven't played with the Bios or overclocking and I doubt I will much. No problem hooking up my components.I did have a few problems:(1) The wifi-go module has a tiny screw you have to remove before installing it. For some reason the screw wouldn't come out with any of the 6 Phillips head screwdrivers I tried. So I just used a pair of pliers to grip it hard and turn it slowly. Came out fine with that method. But for some reason the head on the tiny screw they use with it just didn't match my screwdrivers. Like other reviewers have said on similar motherboards, make sure you remember to install the wifi-go module before installing the motherboard. I haven't tested the module to see if it works.(2) The nipple on my case wouldn't match up easily with the hole on the motherboard. I have no idea if that is the motherboard's fault or the case's fault. I had to really jam it hard to get it the nipple in the hole.(3) A consumer support rep at Asus said (in typical broken English in an email) that this board does not work with Vista "duo (sic, he meant "due") to the chipset limitation." I installed Vista anyway and it works fine. I don't know why he would say Vista doesn't work, but, if anyone is wondering, I didn't have a problem with it.(4) It is expensive, but I am not enough of a motherboard pricing expert to say the price was unreasonable given the features and quality.(5) I went to the Asus webpage to call them for some technical support, and they had numbers listed for practically every country except the United States. I was pretty surprised, seeing approximately 50 numbers for other countries but a blank for the US. Next to the US, it just had a link that said "click here." I clicked and it was broken link. Very odd. When I filled out a technical support email inquiry form (which is painfully extensive and time consuming), an Asus rep got back to me (relatively quickly) with an answer that clearly indicated he wasn't capable of reading, understanding, or troubleshooting in English. So if you have a problem, trying to email them will most likely be a complete waste of your time (unless you really want to see the troubleshooting tips copied and pasted from their website), because they don't speak English. However, it should be noted that other manufacturers probably have the same problem. In the end I solved the problem myself.Rig:Intel Ivy Bridge i7 3770k w/ Corsair H100 watercoolerCorsair 600t Case2x EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti in SLICorsair SSD + 2 SATA3 hard drives16 Gb Corsair DDR3 1600 RamWindows Vista 64 bitI give the board five stars because I am guessing that even though Asus isn't perfect, it is still better than the competition. I also felt sorry for Asus because the other reviewer gave it such an unreasonably low score. I spent a lot of time detailing the negatives (more than the positives) because I am hoping that Asus will fix them when I buy my next motherboard in 5 or 6 years.

I purchased this board for my most recent rebuild/ update of my primary gaming/ photo computer. After using it for about three weeks, I am very happy with it.Since I find it useful to see what others have working with a particular mobo, here is what I have installed:P8Z77-Pro MotherboardIntel Core i5 3570K processor mildly overclocked to 4.1 GHzCorsair H100 cooling16 GB G. Skill Ripjaw Z DDR3 2133 RAMEVGA GTX 680 Superclocked128 GB Crucial M4 SATA III (SSD) (OS and BF3 installed here)Reused from previous buildWin 7 Home Premium (thought about switching to Professional but no real reason to using 16 GB RAM)Antec 1200 Gaming tower with CP-850 PSULogitech G9 mouseLogitech G15 (old ancient v1) keyboardRazer Nostromo1 TB WD Caviar Black HA2 ea 1.5 TB WD Green HD's (mostly for multimedia storage/ backup)LG BluRay Rewriter disc driveInstallation of the new mobo was very easy. Everything is well labeled. The users guide is a little light, as most are, but very logically laid out for front to back sequential use during initial installation.Once everything was properly assembled, I booted to the BIOS and installed the updated BIOS 1015. I d/l'd the 1015 prior to starting the build to the flash drive. Using the EZ Flash 2 utility it was very easy to update. After a reboot it was off to installing Win7 on the SSD. The rest of the installation went very smoothly. The good:This just blows away my old Core i7 920 on the 1366 mobo with 6 GB of DDR3 RAM. No big surprise there. A lot of the good things for me are related to the SSD and the GTX 680 more than the mobo, but they all have to work together and they do with this board. In BF3 with the video set to ultra or high on all settings, according to FRAPS I am getting about 140-160 fps. Just silly. I could crank everything up until it was stressing the CPU and the GPU, but why? I don't see very much difference with those few other setting moved up on the video.I am also very happy with this set up for Photoshop and Premiere Elements as well as Photomatrix. Very noticable improvement over my previous set up even with those applications running off the 1 TB WD Caviar Black drive. The "Idiots Overclocking System" built into this board is very effective with the combo I have. Getting it to 4.1 GHz using just some of the auto overclock tools was easy. In this configuration, I am seeing a max of 32-33C on the CPU temps while playing BF3. The combo of the cool running ivy bridge processor with the Corsair cooler is very effective. I'll probably venture into higher overclocks when needed, but right now there is no point. The not so good:I find a few issues with my Logitech G15 keyboard losing the LCD apps after the computer has gone to sleep. I considered 4 stars instead of 5 for this, but decided to leave it 5. The reason is that I have seen this before on all of the 4 or so previous motherboards this keyboard has been used with. I am pretty sure it is a Logitech issue rather than an ASUS mobo issue. Frankly I fixed it on my previous board by disabling the sleep mode. I'll probably do the same with this one unless Logitech comes up with a working update. Might be time to dump the G15, but I do actually use the LCD for TS3.Bottom line is that I am very happy with this motherboard. Hope this helps someone.

I have build a new system using this motherboard and worked like charm from get go. BIOS and the asus ai utility could be better. Windows 7 did not recognize all of the devices on the board so i had to use the cd that came with the package. It has Intel Gigabyte NIC which is a plus, but win7 (w/o the SP1 doesnt have the driver) so be prepared. Also manual is lacking some information about where/how to connect the eSATA cable (from the add-on bracket) on the board. Unlike other boards, this one doesnt have any eSATA connection. However you can connect it to any one of the SATA terminals (use a 3GB/s ones, as eSATA standard doesnt support 6GB/s).It does not have a firewire connection. If this is important for you.CPU is positioned too close to the memory modules, so a good heatsink/fan like cooler master evo will block the 1st memory slot. If you are going to populate all of the memory slots and not planning to use Intel stock heatsink, then go for low profile memory modules. It worked well with G-Skill ripjaws at 1600. Software that controls the fans isnt that great however.Plenty of fan controls on the board 4 chase fans + 2 CPU fans. 2 ASMEDIA SATA 6GB/s + 2 Intel z77 SATA 6Gb/s connections are also adequate for most users. Now the negatives:* 2nd PCI express x1 slot is too close to the PCI express x16 slot for the GPU, that makes it effectively useless for those of us installing decent vga cards.* CPU opt fan control does not control the speed of the fan (or perhaps it is problem in my setup)* CPU is located too close to the memory slots.* associated cd driver and utility disk is full of ads/unnecessary stuff (not as bad as the creative labs products but still a pain. browser add was located under the driver tab and i had to install everything manually to avoid picking junk/software.* there is no heatpipe connection between the cooler sitting on top of the Z77 and the other heatsinks. Z77 does get a bit hot.Overall I think it is still a good buy and i would recommend. I got this mobo through micro center for 199.99. Anyways this mobo packs a real punch. Here's the pros/cons/final thoughts.Pros:Supports SLI/Crossfirex.Supports 3rd Gen Core i3/5/7 series.z77 chipset.ASUS gives you the block when plugging in the power switch cables i love that.2 USB 3.0 headers.PCI 3.0 Support w/Ivy Bridge processor installed only.Cons:Before you turn it on get the updated drivers! The ones on the CD are good but I had error messages saying it can't find the hotfix file or whatever. With the updated drivers on my usb stick it was a smooth installation.FInal Thoughts:This is my 2nd build. Upgraded from an 775 core 2 duo e7200. I was going to go with the new core i7 3770k but its way too much money. The 3570k will be more than enough for anything that the average gamer needs to do.-Suggestion: You may get the error CPU fan Error: Just go into bios and set all fan warnings to ignore. Solved problem :)Here's my rig.Asus p8z77-vpro (pro version of this motherboard)Intel Core i5 3570k 3.4ghz stock + CM Hyper 212+16gb ddr3 1600mhz 4x4gb Corsair LP120gb Intel 520 SSD SATA III1TB HDD2x HD6870 Sapphire 1gb ddr5 setup in crossfirexRaidmax 850watt psu 80+goldSamsung blu ray readerCorsair 600t WhiteOne quick question if anyone out there can help me. I have never setup raid before is it possible to do it with my SSD and my HDD. I want windows 7 pro on my ssd while the HDD handles everything else._______Update______________ 11/29/12Everything is running smoothly. I had a few bumps in the road while updating bios versions. One of the biggest problems I had is when I flashed to bios v1406, back in July my CPU fan went to full speed (2k rpm) and it would stay at full speed the entire time. I knew it was the bios that messed it up and I wanted to go back so I went back to Asus's website to download 1206 again but I noticed that v1406 was gone and that's when it hit me I downloaded a crappy version of bios for my board :P. I waited for the next version to come out but I waited for a few days to make sure that they wouldn't take it down like they did for 1406. They never did and I updated to 1506. That unfortunately did not fix the problem, I ended up downloading all of the updated utilities fan xpert 2 and Asuite and that immediately fixed the problem with the CPU fan running at full speed. Also if you are noticing that your download and upload speeds are terrible. This may or may not help you out. For my internet speed I have fios at 25/5mbps. When I did a speed test I was getting 10/2. So naturally I looked on google and I ended up joining tomshardware where I found my answer. Basically turn off Inetworkcontrol in Asuite. I forget the exact name but turn it off and your speeds will drastically improve. That software is bogus.Board is still running strong, hope to have it last till 2020 :) for the next build

I love the flexibility of this motherboard. I was able to use my I7-2700K processor with the ability to upgrade to newer processors later on. I came from a previous ASUS MB and I think I've become a fan of theirs since I've had very little problems with them. There are three reasons for 4 stars instead of 5 stars:1) The first board I ordered came with bent CPU socket pins.2) The ASUS SSD Caching II is not all that it's cracked up to be.3) The Wi-Fi Go! module must be installed prior to putting the motherboard into the case. I missed that and had to take it out again to install the module. It's a good thing I ordered from Amazon because most other places would give you a very hard time exchanging it for bent pins because they consider that user damage. Since I didn't damage it, ASUS would still have charged me about $120 to repair and for the money I don't think I would have wanted to or should have to fight that battle. I've been putting together my own computers for almost 20 years and have never run into that problem before. The second board I received worked flawlessly with Windows 7 Ultimate and I also added the products to keep everything nice and cool. The SSD Caching does not seem to work. I have two solid state drives and the board comes with a 32GB solid state drive (upgradeable, which is a plus). The software only saw my two SSDs and not the on-board one even though Windows 7 saw it as a physical drive. So I can use it as a temp drive, but I doubt I would want to install the OS on such a small drive. Maybe later I will upgrade the SSD to something bigger.Since this is my first Thunderbolt enabled board, I have no experience in that area but I am going to try the display port capabilities tonight. This feature allows you to use VirtuMVP to utilize your own dedicated video cards but put the output signal through the Thunderbolt interface. It will be cool if it works ;-)My previous motherboard only had one LAN port but the one before that had two and I missed that feature. This board contains two and they work great. The Wi-Fi Go! also works well and has external Antennas. All together, I'd have to say the motherboard was worth it. The capability to handle 2nd generation and 3rd generation CPUs is great and allows me to upgrade at my pace without having to purchase yet another motherboard in the future.

I've built a couple PC's with Intel MB's (back in the Pentium4 days) and have been very happy with their quality and performance. I tried to do that recently and had a really bad experience with compatibility (with an Intel processor!!!). I have known of Asus for many years, just never used their stuff. Well...I'm a convert now! This MB is well laid out and FULL of features! It's good enough for a low-mid gamer, and perfect for high-end general-purpose machines (what I just built). Fully integrated graphics with 4 different output types, lots of expansion slots, gigabit ethernet plus wireless-N w/ external antenna, built-in HD audio, the list goes on... Honestly, the only thing it doesn't have that I would expect (and it's "big brother" deluxe or pro versions do include) is an eSATA port. But with the growing options in USB3, I don't think that's critical at all.The software (both BIOS and Utilities) assortment is the major clincher for my conversion. This puts the Intel utilities (even today's offerings) to shame. Everything is customizable down to the last detail. I had fun looking through all the options, but other than setting my boot order in BIOS and setting a fan controller to a min speed instead of allowing it to be turned off when not needed (after "auto-tuning" the fans), I left almost everything else on "Auto". Honestly, the chipset and software are very capable and I've not found anything yet where I feel tweaking the settings will be beneficial. This is a great full-featured board at a great price! If you don't need gamer-level customization, but don't want stripped-down entry-level features with limited connectivity, this one is a great fit right in the middle.

Update: I added pictures to the top of the page were it allows you to.I want to start this off by saying Asus has horrible support and if you do have a problem expect them to say send the board in. Thats for any problem.I do think Asus offers the best online coverage of all your software, drivers, updates and the best overclocking experience. You do pay for it but Asus makes the best mbs there is.This mb is great and for someone like me that wants everything,it's a dream board. Before my very eyes I watched this mb auto overcloc kmy I7 3770k to 4944mhz stable. Then I put my air conditioning vent on the rads and watched this mb clock my cpu to 5156mhz. Stable but hits 90c at room temps. ( No good for me )Ran lots of performance tests @ 5200mhz and a Passmark cpu score of 14875.3 Thats Intel $1500 proccessor speeds3dMark,3Dmar11,3Dmark Vantage,Kombuster, furmark,Heavem Dx11 etc. It passed them all @5200mhzThe Icontrol network thing slowed my connection down and now doesnt work.Im not sure if its becuase of something I installed. The wireless still runs @ 300mbps. Was told send the mb in by Asus. But I think it will probley be fixxed by new windows install or something.I decided to keep the settings @4911mhz max temp 78c with room at 76f until I redo the plumming for the water cooling. Plus some adjustments Then @5200mhz should be at comfortable temps.I love the board and here is my setup with a Windows exp. score of 7.9P8Z77-V PREMIUMWindows 8 proI7-3770k @ 4911mhz ram 1950.6mhz thats my everday completely stable speed for now.Cpu ratio x47, bclk 104.5 set at 1.360 voltsAda64 perf tests show sensors readings up to 1.450 volts even though bios is set to 1.385vCorsair 16 GB DDR3 2133 MHz CMT16GX3M4X2133C92xEVGA GeForce GTX680 SC SIGNATURE W/B plates water cooled2x Acool 4x 140mm radiators and 2 655 pumps.1x Intel 520 120gb and a 30gb ssd that came with it.6x wD cav green 3tb hdds5x Seagate Barracudas 3tb hdds2 Wd reds 3tb hddsCorsair Professional Series Gold 1200-Watt 80 Plus Gold2 Plextor BD combos 12xASUS 12BILT BD combo 12xNZXT Sentry Mix LED Fan Controller with Six 50-Watt Channels2 Lian Li HDD Power Controller Model : BZ-H06B (Black)Caselabs case.If anyone has questions about this board or the Maximus V extreme feel free to email me at Faster220@aol.com.

I've purchased three of these motherboards. I've selected this MB because it uses almost all Intel chips, like the Ethernet. The solid capacitors do improve reliability. The custom Asus "Digi" chips control power nicely. Further USB 3 is supported natively by Windows 8 and Intel (finally!).I don't use the wireless or built-in Realtek audio. Instead use wired Gigabit for improved speed and reliability and Asus version of the AMD 7750 for superior HDMI sound which is sent to the receiver. The only disappointment I've had is using my Windows 8 computers is losing the Ethernet connection after sleeping. You need to make note of this review right now to avoid headaches. That is the only reason why I'm writing this review!Asus Statement"Please install NVM Update Utility for Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet PHY Network Connection first before you update this Ethernet driver."The fix is described by Intel:"This utility resolves an issue where during system resume, the Intel® 82579V Gigabit Ethernet PHY Network Connection erroneously reports the device id as an Intel® 82579LM Gigabit Ethernet Controller Network Connection, resulting in a Windows* Code 10 error and LOSS OF NETWORK CONNECTION."Search forNVM Update Utility for Intel® 82579V Gigabit Ethernet PHY Network ConnectionHope this saves you the months of headache i went through. Thank you!

This board for me has been typical for Asus quality, rock solid. I have had no major issues with the motherboard. I'm running a Core i5 3570k at 4.7 Ghz with 16 gigs of Corsair Vengeance 1600 ram. This board comes with several great features I really enjoy. The easy BIOS update is great, update from windows with Asus update or from a USB flash drive. The UEFI Bios makes tweaking a breeze. This board boots very quickly, sometimes I don't have enough time to hit the delete button. The integrated WiFi works flawlessly. Basically, this board has every feature I could possibly need, which is why I didn't opt for a more expensive model. The Asus utility suite has some pros and cons. The auto tuning feature worked well for me, but further teaking from the app didn't go so well. Here's my major gripe, the tuning app set my vcore to 1.5v without my input. OC profiles wouldn't save so evey time I reboot the PC I'd have to reapply my settings. I ended up doing my overclocking directly from the BIOS and I've had no problems since. My other gripe is in the windows app you can set your vcore with a slider bar, in the bios you can either go full manual or offset mode. I don't find trying to manipulate the vcore offset to be as user friendly as sliding a bar to your desired max vcore. Also, I haven't been able to get consistent results out of the offset settings. I'm running +.080 to get my desired 1.28 vcore which seems to be counter intuitive to everything I've read (vcore - desired vcore = negative offset). As of this date I'm running the most recent BIOS, maybe in the future the vcore adjustment could be a little easier.Putting my little issues aside, I would buy this motherboard again and I will continue to buy Asus in the future.

I really love this board! The design is great and very sleek especially after my old P55 board. I'm running a brand new i7 3770K and a gtx 670 in it with 8GB of G-Skill RipJaws DDR3 1600mhz RAM (which it recognized imediately and set correct speed/timmings#. The UEFI is a breeze to navigate through with a lot of good features. There really isn't much to differentiate between motherboards nowadays, so I chose ASUS for their great AI Suite utilities. The Wifi-GO of Asus is really quite cool and I can stream my desktop to my ipad2 and other compatible wifi devices around the house. There is also a great OC utility that you can run from windows which will find and optimize the near best OC for you #have a look at the PC Prespective live review of ASUS Z77 overclock on youtube#.I went with the V over the V-Pro because I really didn't need more mobo Fan headers/or the bluetooth, and saved a decent amount. One thing I ahve to point out to new builders is to enable RAID mode over AHCI in the UEFI before installing for the first time. I installed windows onto a new Samsung 830 128gb SSD in AHCI mode and later couldn't set up RAID my 2x 500gb raid 0 drives w/o re-installing/restoring windows. There are NO drawbacks to enabling RAID #non-raided drives run in AHCI) but at least it gives you the option to create a new array later on.I would have given this mobo 5/5 stars hands down except my top 2 USB3.0 ports (the ones on the mobo itself) don't work. They don't provide any power and don't recognize any peripherals connected. I have scoured the UEFI for a setting to enable/disable but haven't found any. It's a shame really because this is a great producd. Anyway, well done to ASUS, I'll update this review if somehow the USB's come to life.Edit:The usb problem was caused by driver problems. I recently downloaded a new batch of usb 3 drivers from ASUS and voila, they started working!!! I then re-installed the old drivers to be sure of the cause of the error and again, they stopped working..System Specs:ASUS P8Z77-V moboIntel i7 3770K OC 4.5ghz w/ Scythe Ninja 316GB G-Skil RipJaws 1600EVGA GTX 670 + 470 for Physx256GB Samsung 830 6gb/s SSD - Primary OS2x500GB WD Raid 0 - Secondary Instals4x 2TB WD - Tertiary StorageCoolermaster HAF 932

Been a long time ASUS user and this is the first time I've had to return one. Board just wouldn't boot. As soon as I hit the power button, it would shutdown. I triple checked, remounted everything 3x. I was worried that I might have fried the CPU, so I took the same parts moved them to an older Asus motherboard and all was well.I asked Amazon for a replacement. I'll update if I get another dud. I'm giving it 3 stars because I hope ASUS comes through and I give it a more favorable review. The board has everything I want.-- update 11/2Amazon got it to me in a day :)As I expected, this motherboard is excellent quality. I don't know what this new BIOS does but Win 7 reboots in under 10 seconds, it's just amazing. No need to go into pros, this is excellent motherboard. The UEFI BIOS is awesome. Boot time is unbelievable. Performance is darn good. 4.4Ghz on i2500k easy. Some cons:1) Not enough SATA cables for all the SATA ports? Why only 4 cables when there are 8 ports?2) I couldn't find instructions on Wi-fi and how to connect the antenna. I tried twisting it on but I think it's just snap on.3) It's not clear you need to instal the Wi-fi Go module and affix it with the screw BEFORE placing the motherboard in a case.4) The 90 SATA connectors does not work well if using a 2 in 1 SSD adapter in 3.5" bay. Should just be straight. Perhaps it's an advantage for smaller cases ?5) Why isn't there an ISO of ALL the utilities on ASUS website? It's a real pain to download each and every utility and install one by one. I don't install CD/DVDs anymore.6) USB3 front-panel connector is too shallow. Feels unsecure.
