I will admit that this is one of the priciest wireless routers on the market, but you get what you pay for. My Cable Modem was paired to a Linksys Wireless-G router and was working fine but the speed was getting slower. I swapped the modem for a new Motorola DOCIS 3.0 model and the connection is much faster. I noticed that my Mac Pro was still not meeting its full potential and my Macbook and Acer Laptops would sometimes slow down. I bought the Apple Airport Extreme with some apprehension; but it is worth every penny! My wireless-G devices are surfing quicker and friends who come over with wireless-N devices have commented about the speed of my connection. The gigabit ethernet on my Mac Pro moves at an astonishing speed. Network hard drive storage is simple plug and play with a built it USB port. Keep in mind that the hard drive must be HFS+ formatted. Set up was a joke. I was up and running in less than five minutes. The Linksys router was painful to set up and required many extra steps! If you own Macs and PCs you will find the set up and ease of use-worth the price of admission. I love my Macs and I can see why Apple charges a price premium. You pay for convenience and reliability. I love this router more than my ipod!

It just works. It's fast, you plug it in and everything goes. I've had everything from D-link to Linksys and this trumps them all. If you care about quality, get it.

Just received my AirPort Extreme Base Station and set it up in our house.A very god choice to say the least. I bought an Ipad but the older router kept losing it - reboot city! The new Apple router is vastly superior. No problems. Pricey but worth it.

So your old router is causing headaches, needs rebooting seemingly every day, you go and buy a new one and it's a little faster, a little more stable but still a thorn in your side quietly..? Go and get one of these! Until Amazon prompted me to enter a review I'd completely forgotten I'd bought it - I set it up initially and it's just sat in my closet doing it's job ever since, no hassles, no sudden loss of connectivity, it just sits there being good at it's job. We're a network-heavy house too - 1 permanently connected IP phone, 1 fragile VPN needing very high uptime, a server used to deliver media throughout the house (wirelessly through this router) and 4 PC's. If you're in the same boat and have realized you need something a bit more capable then I'd say the Airport Extreme is the way to go, if you're not using wireless as heavily as us, you might as well get one anyway because it's only a matter of time before you give up on cable TV and boxes of DVD's and begin to use this sort of technology to deliver your media kicks.

Set this on edge, and as high as you can, and you won't ever have a range problem.Not one problem during setup and configuration.Most excellent!

Ease of use/setup is a no brainer. Had Linksys before and far more items to setup. Also, we have not had to reboot the device yet but the Linksys we rebooted at least once or twice a week. Only problem is that it needs 4 ethernet ports not 3.

Just buy it and be happy, install was simple. I never knew my Internet was this fast till I got this. No joke.

I have now networked 3 of these to give my house full wi-fi coverage. Works very good. Had to hire an apple specialist to help. The only problem is my laptop and cell phone are not technical enough to fly from one router to the other.

I love airport extremes. I have one at home and another at school. I plugged a 2TB hard drive into the back of this one so it could be a shared drive. It doesn't transfer data to & from the external hard drive all that quickly, but I can't expect it to be as fast as a hard connection.

... but after reading a batch of earlier reviews, I find I'm out of my league! I have nothing technical to add. I bought the AirPort Extreme at an Apple Store in a mall, hoping to get fewer delays and faster loads than I was getting from my DSL through my small, simple NetGear router. And that's what I've gotten, so I'm highly satisfied. But I should have purchased though Mother Amazoo; I'd have saved fifty bucks.

Being Windows user I was bit skeptical buying it, Cnet review was not so high about this router for windows users, but bought it anyway. I was used to browser interface for setting Routers, this was different, i have to install the software on all machines to access router. The price is not high as compared to Router from Linksys ($169) with similar features as compared to $179 for this unit, the signal around my house is stronger, my N based laptops are at 150+Mbps range, I added a USB hub with printers and my USB external drives attached to it, everything is running great no hiccups.The only trouble i have is one of my windows XP PC will not Scan Router (i could type the IP address manually to access router though), other than that all my game machines, Itouch and Iphone had no problems connecting to network. Guest network is very good to connect your devices like PS3 or Wii to it, or your guest could use it with out entering to you network.On shortcomings side, no QOS on this router, also it has only three ethernet ports at back, but a usb hub took care of it for me as i connected my printer via usb instead of ethernet connection.This Router is indeed very easy for setup it is as good as for windows machine as i assume for Macs. The simultaneous dual band is great for old and new devices, i have watched ripped DVDs on my network drive without any problems. Overall great product."I would have given it 5 star if it has QOS and 4th port. For some one who don't need these options it is 5 star router.

The Setup Guide is so badly written that, after an hour of painful reading, I simply returned the device. Otherwise, I very much value other Apple products.

I couldn't recommend a product with an easier installation. The Airport Utility software included with OSX or with the CD provided for Windows guides you through every step with simple instructions. It would not be too confusing for someone without experience setting up a wi-fi network.I was previously using a linksys g router that had a lot of trouble (slow, constantly dropped signal, etc.) I live in an area with a significant amount of wi-fi networks, which are possibly interfering with one another, but with my new Airport Extreme, my network is perfect.I also use my Airport with a usb hub to connect several hard drives and a printer. (All that you need to do to set up a network drive and printer is check a box in the Airport Utility).My only complaint of the product is that you often must reset the router for Airport Utility to detect it, if it is unplugged. Airport Utility is also slow to detect and update the router, so you have to be patient with this step.

Although a bit expensive, this router is easy to set up and use. There are a lot of advanced features that can be figured out later.

This is a excellent router. Very easy to install works very well has great range better than any d-link or cisco that I have used. I have had no problems with it.

While I've had a home network before, I've never had to be involved with any of the technical matters, I had a computer scientist do that. This was the first time that I needed a home network and I had to do it on my own. Also, I had just purchased my first Mac (which I LOVE!!) and I still had a older Toshiba laptop that I needed to make sure could also get on the network. After reading some information online I got the impression that the AirPort Extreme might be the best way to go. I have no regrets about my purchase. It was so easy to setup and it is easy to use. Both my Mac and my Toshiba work fine on it. So if you are a user like myself, tech savvy but not directly experienced, you should really check it out. And while I don't know to what extent my router could affect my network speed, I have not noticed any compromise in speed since going to the AirPort.

Got this router about a week ago and it is awsome except for one issue. It does not work well with Netflix on the xbox360. Either Netflix will not load or very VERY slow to update pages on Netflix. My extreme has firmware 7.5 and hope a firmware update will fix issue. I also have many PS3's that run Netflix just fine. If you want to keep up with this issue please check out apple support forums for updates on the issue.That said I still love this router. I have many...many devices connected to it and it works great. I do recommend this product.***UPDATE**** March 31st,2010 Apple released an upgrade to the firmware (7.5.1) that fixes the issue with Xbox Live and Netflix. All is working as it should now.

To date, I've used three wifi routers, the Apple Extreme Base Station being the most recent. My first was a Linksys, followed by an upper-end netgear model. After a week of use, I can attest that this router has given me the best user experience to date. No freeze-ups, easy as pie set up and it's stylish to boot. There are a lot of good technical type reviews for this product and--to be blunt--I'm not that kind of reviewer. With WiFi I care about pretty simple things. Is it easy to set up? It is--very. How powerful is it, can I go far from the base station? Walking around my building(not apartment) I can get a usable signal three stories up and over half a block away, which is a third greater than my next best router (the netgear). As for speed, it goes fast--I guess--as movies stream in HD without hesitation and surfing the web is unhindered by anything the router does. Finally I'm concerned if every thing I have, that is wireless, can hook up with it. To date, I've had two laptops and a desktop tapped in to this base station with no discernible interruption in service or speed. At the time two of the computers were steaming video and the other was simply on the web. My final note is about the build quality of this unit. It is an impressive, well-made, piece of hardware. I don't know what makes it so heavy, but it is one solid brick of tech. Really made the others seem like cheap toys. Should you be looking for a top quality WiFi router, you could do much worse than this terrific product. Any down-shots? Yes, somewhat pricey.

It took me less than 10 minutes from hooking it up, setting it up and hooking up an airport express to extend the network to the whole house. I'm no expert of networking. The last time I had to set up a router (Cisco/Linksys) it took me about 30 minutes, and the last time I had to set up a bridge (with two Belkin routers/bridge) it took me over 6 hours (with 2+ spent over the phone). The Airport utility used to set this up is just perfect. No need to connect with a wire to the wireless station (like every other router I tried), a small number of questions to get everything set up in a snap. Even the wireless hard drive works flawlessly and immediately. You really feel you're being mocked around by the other vendors making it so hard to set up a wireless network, and, especially, extending it. One small issue: the range was not greater, in fact a tad smaller, than my previous Belkin wireless g router (a Buffalo with "extra range"), which needed an extension indeed, but had slightly longer range...

My old Belkin router finally died. Even though router costs more than some of the standard PC ones, I bought it anyway because Apple products have always been reliable and enjoyable to use. In short, it took about 5 minutes to set it up. No muss, no fuss. Great house wide connection. And if you have a business, you can also set up a "guest" network, so visitors to you can join their own net work without getting onto yours. I unhesitatingly recommend it.

There are 2 basic ways to go when it comes to computer equipment:1. Geek approach: get something on ebay for $3, scrounge missing parts, run some arcane installers, download some upgrades, copy/paste some code. Doesn't work? Yippie!! More tech stuff to do.2. Apple approach: Plug it in. Turn it on. Enjoy!Your choice.Works perfectly and fast out of the box. AirPort Utility is beyond awesome so set up and changes to your network are easy peasy. You want feature comparisons? Forget it. This does everything I need and probably stuff I don't need. To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, feature lists are for people who know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.Bottom line: if you value "it just works" go for it.

Before I purchased Apple's Airport Extreme, I was not pleasedwith the "brand-X" performances. Then, I decided to purchasethe brand that I could count on being a high performer and mostdependable. That was, Apple's Airport Extreme and I am wellsatisfied in every respect.

The base station installation instructions are not the best. Once installed and working the base station is excellent. Wireless signal is strong and security is first rate. Package arrived sooner than expected. Great service.

Having used about four non-Mac routers, Linksys and Netgear, wired and wireless, all I have to say about the Airport Extreme is that it is the best working, most problem-free router experience I have ever had. Period.Wireless-N is many times faster and more stable than previous protocols.It is well worth the expense. I think the Time Capsule is a waste of money because it is much less expensive to use your own inexpensive hard drive for Time Machine. Having a combo like Time Capsule is like having a TV with DVD built in. At some point, you're going to wish they were separate, like when one part doesn't work right or you need to upgrade only one part.This is expensive, but well worth it.I also recommend the Apple Airport Express.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the Apple Airport Extreme from the moment it was up and running. The first surprise was how much faster the speeds of n are over the g routers; it's an obvious difference. It was easy to install as you would expect from other Apple products. My only glitch was getting my printer to recognize WPA 2. (If I'm correct, WPA 2 is the latest encryption language verses WPA). My 6 month old wifi Epson 600 printer didn't recognize it at first and I had to call customer support (on the other side of the world) to make sure the settings were correct, but was able to make it work. Anyway, this purchase was to replace my Netgear router which had a class action suit out for this model. I couldn't figure out why it was dropping the signal repeatedly. A short search of course enlightened me to the cause of my woes. Those problems are now gone. I would highly recommend the Extreme.

Thanks to the easy setup through AirPort Utility, I was up and running within minutes. This router has rock-solid wireless connections and excellent range. Operation has been flawless, no signal drops like with some competing routers. Unlike the previous generation MB053LL/A which could only operate in one band at a time, Apple has added a 2nd radio to this new unit that allows for allows for simultaneous dual-band operation- It's like 2 routers in 1. This router allows you operate 5.0 Ghz-compatible devices on one network and 2.4 Ghz-compatible devices on the other, all from this one router. My wireless N-equipped aluminum MacBook connects to the 5.0 Ghz band and gets wireless local network speeds ranging from 200 mbps to 300 mbps. My other b/g devices connect to the slower 2.4 Ghz band. By default setup, there is one network name. When you connect to it, it will automatically join the band (2.4 Ghz or 5.0 Ghz) with the fastest connection speed that your wireless device supports. For example, a new wireless N-equipped MacBook will automatically connect via N to the 5.0 Ghz band. In addition, there is an option to assign a separate name to the 5.0 Ghz network which you can manually connect to if you so choose.The Guest Network feature is a nice addition and certainly sets this router apart from the competition. It allows you to give Internet access only to visitors simply by setting up a separate guest network in AirPort Utility. When a user connects to the guest network, the router uses a built-in algorithm to automatically join them to the band (2.4 Ghz or 5.0 Ghz) with the fastest connection speed.I connected a Brother HL-2140 laser printer to the usb port on the router and it worked perfectly, without having to install any print drivers.I highly recommend this router.

I bought this router to replace a pretty new Belkin router which was doing it's job but I wanted to improve the signal and boost the range.After a royal pain in the butt installation, not the router but I had to try numerous cycle alternatives and finally a hard reset of the COMCAST Cable I got it to work.The machine I was trying to improve performance on is probably about 40 ft away from the router with multiple walls in the way and a floor. The Belkin G router was doing a good job but occassionally performance choked. For now it seems to have improved performance and stability but it has completely failed to extend the network which is not very good considering it is one of the selling points.I do appreciate i have a ton of walls albeit dry wall through which the signal must get through. However, it should have improved the range over the belkin which was basically 60% cheaper to buy. So not impressed at all I have to say.

I previously owned a very popular competing router that I had a lot of problems with. As soon as I put the airport in, all the problems in the house completely went away. I'm not an apple fanboy, but if I keep having user experiences like this, I might wait in line to pick up my official card in the near future.

My old router, a D-Link DI-524, used to drop the wireless connections multiple times a day, so it was time to upgradeI am by no means an Apple fanboy - I'm a PC user - but decided to try the AirportExtreme because it had a reputation of being very stable and having great range. I'm pleased to say that it's lived up to my expectations! Having had it for a month now, there have been no drops, and the 802.11n connection reaches areas that formerly had no wireless signal.Setup was straight forward and there are just enough features to satisfy my needs. I've had no problems getting it to work with my Windows XP laptop.I've been pleased with the AirDisk feature as well. I just made sure to connect an HFS+ formatted hard disk (formatted using my wife's Macbook) and have had no issues. It's a little slow, but it's good enough for storing my music and picture library. I wish it was NFS+ compatible and a bit faster, but it's a good intro to network storage.

What more can I say about this product. Dual band compliments for older and newer macs. Set up was a breeze. Recognized everything immediately. Have a WD 500GB external hard drive & Canon printer hooked up to it for access for my family network. Signal strengh is great throughout my entire house. Even have a laptop PC hooked up to it. Apple products may be a little pricy, but you get what you pay for. Side note: I have apple computers at home and I work on a pc at work. There is no comparison. Apple computers and products are far superior to any pc out there. Until you actually own one, you will not know what you're missing.

The only thing you need to know about this router is it is last year's model. I post this because neither Apple nor Amazon make it easy for individuals to track model specific information.That said it is a good and very competent router. As will most all things Apple, you can get better for less money from other vendors. But if you want Apple, and can get a good discount on this model, its worth buying. The primary differences with the latest model are a bit more range, a bit better throughput, and a tad more compatibility with the latest 802.11n standards (and other access points that use it if you are bridging).

I am surrounded by 20+ wireless g routers in my apartment building, and when a new neighbor moved in and set up his wireless network right next to my own, along probably with 20+ 2.4Ghz phones, my 5yr old wireless g router just couldn't handle it anymore. I purchased Apple's AirPort Extreme Dual-band Base Station and it works great -- on my PC network (I don't have Apple computers). I am the only one so far with a wireless N in my area, and I've noticed improved response times in playing online games and downloading video via roku.Caveat: if you are going to connect this on a cable modem, you need to turn the cable modem off first, connect the router then turn both the modem and router on. It took me 2 hours to figure this out. I was confused because Linksys routers have a MAC address clones capability and Apple routers do not, and I kept looking for the MAC clone setup on the Apple router -- wasn't there. Turning off the cable modem, and turning it back on once the Apple router was attached solved whatever connection problem I was having with my ISP.

Having always been a Mac fan, I've always looked very closely at each and every one of Apple's products, especially those outside of their traditional "Mac" line.Similar to others, I've used many different routers over the years, some from Belkin, D-link, Linksys, Netgear, and others. While all have performed quite well, I've always ended up having some major problem with each and every one. Most of them either just "died" or eventually performance became so degraded that I had to move on. Never has the replacement been as easy to use and hassle-free as Apple's Airport Extreme Base Station.From the start, it's as simple as plugging in each of your devices, opening up the "airport utility" to configure, and you're set. Gone are the days of 192.168.1.1 in the browser to access the router's controls. Within Airport Utility, setup is extremely easy when running through the basic setup. There are also plenty of advanced features for those seeking additional functionality. I was able to easily change my SSID, not broadcast it, and even limit connections based upon MAC addresses.One of the other functions, which I especially like, is the ability for the base station to automatically change the channel it broadcasts on. Where I live, everyone and their dog as a wireless network, so I've always had to deal with potential interference. With the Airport Extreme, I've set it to auto, and never looked back.One of the major reasons I found this airport appealing over previous models was the addition of the USB port and additional ethernet ports. If I had use one of the previous "snow" airport base stations, you'd always had to have purchased an additional hub to connect more than one device/computer directly. Gone are those days with this new model.My only regret with the purchase is that Apple later came out with the gigabit version, and then later with the Time Capsule. Luckily, they did come out with an update for Leopard enabling any USB drive to be connected to the Airport Extreme via its USB port and act as a backup drive for Time Machine.In the end, this purchase was worth every penny. I'll definitely continue to come back to Apple for my wireless needs.

Wish all my experiences were like this. I had a little trouble installing this (on a pc, I also have a mac). Setup callback through Apple website. Call was on time, associate was very helpful, had the unit working in minutes. Now, any wireless device (we have three laptops, 2 iPhone, a Droid and an iPod Touch)after initial setup that took seconds, as soon as you power on or walk in door, I have excellent wifi signal. I am kicking myself, should have spent the extra 100 and got the Time Capsule (comes with 1tb of storage - ONE TB! insane).I highly recommend and will buy again.

Ah jeez, what can I say. I can do most anything with a computer, Apple or PC, but when I try to configure a network, gremlins keep any of it from working. When my Netgear "lost its settings" spontaneously, they were kind enough at technical support to offer to fix it for me for 99 bucks. When I declined they offered up that I might go to their website for support tips. But I had spent too many hours when I first bought that router, I was done. So I purchased this router and it is just like other reviewers have said: plug it in, stick in the disk, answer a few simple questions, and it's done. THIS is how consumers LIKE computers to work. Bemoan the higher price tag if you want, but I will pay a little extra for things that just do their dang job and don't aggravate me NEEDLESLY!

I've owned a Lynksys router a D-Link and a Net Gear. After one year the Lynksys started dropping the wired internet connection on a regular basis, then died. The D-Link died slightly out of warranty. And the Net Gear's power supply died one year out of warranty. I purchased a generic power supply from Radio Shack and its been more reliable than the Net Gears.Ok now about the Airport. Its expensive though cheaper than three other brand unreliable routers. I kept trying to avoid buying an Airport because of its price. Well I've learned my lesson. I waited almost a year before writing this review. This Apple Airport Extreme has been the Best, Fastest, most Reliable router I have ever owned. Having a Dual Band "N"/"G" so the "G" channel doesn't slow down the "N" channel is wonderful. The worst thing I can say about the AAE is that it runs a little hot to the touch and the Wi-Fi performance could be a little stronger.If you've been thinking about an AAE, stop thinking and get one, you WON'T been sorry.

My wife and I recently moved and this move required me to start over on designing my wireless network. The challenge for me was to design one that worked over all 3000 square feet of the house. My previous house was only 1600 sq feet and with one NetGear wireless router (a Linksys before that) I was able to do so without too much trouble and descent signal strength. Verizon FIOS provided me with a wireless router (Altec I believe) but it's location and the size of the house meant that upstairs and one side of the house had little signal.I decided I needed to create a multipoint wireless network, or Wireless Distribution Network (WDN). My first choice was Apple's solution. I had a feeling it work work well and be easy to set-up. The price though drove me away. I didn't need "N" speeds and didn't really want to spend nearly $200 on a router, plus $100 per access point. So I went with NetGear.After some 6+ hours of frustration, cursing and kicking the family dog a few times and a near divorce from my wife, I gave up. I had chosen one of their G routers and two of their Wireless Repeaters. First I couldn't get the wireless router to talk to the Verizon router. i just wanted to use the NetGear as an access point, but alas I had no luck. I had equally bad luck with one of the repeaters. I never even bothered to open the second one.So I returned the NetGear solution and decided that i would go with the Apple solution. Remember, I spent over 6 hours working on the first solution, pounding my fists into the carpet and hitting my head against the wall. I was ready to go through some of that again, although I just knew it would be easier.Easier?!? It wasn't easier, it was just easy. Here were the steps:1. Unbox Router2. Verify contents of box3. Load software on Mac (I have a PowerBook, wife has a Dell, Daughter an HP)4. Plug power into router5. Plug network cable from Verizon FIOS router to Apple Router6. Run Airport Utility7. Answer Questions8. Access Internet Wirelessly without Problem and with great range.....i walked around the house and every inch was covered by the router. i couldn't find a spot that had no signal, and most had better than average. I decided though to install the Apple Express (repeater). While the Apple Extreme was easy, very easy; I was concerned that the next step would be a challenge. Afterall there is no standard for doing this type of thing and not many people actually use wireless repeaters.Steps:1. Unbox Apple Express2. Verify contents of box (Just a small brick, that's it)3. No software to install, same as Apple Extreme4. Plug repeater into a wall outlet5. Run Airport Utility6. Answer Questions (choosing the option to enable wireless repeating)7. Choose the network to join8. Access Internet Wirelessly with 54mb connection in many parts of the house and speeds no slower than 18Mbs when speeds do drop. Since our connection to the net is 15Mbs, no loss.Really, when I say this is easy; I mean easy. If you are unsure of how you are going to light up your huge home with wireless connectivity; Apple's solution will work great. You can use up to 3 of the AirPort Expresses on your network as I recall and their range, while small devices, isn't bad.If you are looking for "N" speeds, these aren't the way to go; but then Apple doesn't have wireless repeaters that are "N" certified. Don't let that stop you, the AirPort Extreme can be used as a repeater and that would give you great coverage and "N" speeds to boot.Oh, the Airport utility... super easy to use. Use Automatic to set-up your network, can't go wrong. Then use manual to tweak the network to your liking.Trust me... this was so easy, anyone can create a powerful wireless network. It isn't inexpensive; but then what is your time worth?

In contrast to reports that an earlier model Airport Extreme base station periodically dropped the network connection, this model has not dropped an 802.11n connection in over three months since its installation. I have two Mac minis that are connected via this base station across 50 feet of physical separation. One mini is capable of only 802.11g wireless communication. When I placed that mini 50 feet from the base station, the wireless connection was unreliable and frequently dropped out. However, when I placed the other mini that is capable of 802.11n communication 50 feet from the base station, the wireless connection did not drop out.Despite my enthusiasm for this wireless base station, I must mention a much higher bandwidth solution for situations where coaxial cable instead of wireless may be used for communication: the Netgear MCAB1001 MoCA Coax-Ethernet Adapter Kit (Black). Using the MoCa, I am able to transfer media content from one Mac mini to the other at a bandwidth of 10.45 megabytes per second. On the other hand, the Airport Extreme base station is able to transfer media content at only 877 kilobytes per second. Although both solutions are priced about equally on Amazon, I certainly prefer the Netgear MoCA.

Hello,I wanted to toss out some initial impressions quickly before doing a detailed review. I run a mixed system (1 macbook, 3 PCs, PS3, ipod touch, iphone 3GS). Key factors for me in making my decision was 1) speed - will this be an upgrade in speed / stability from my Linksys; 2) will a USB drive work with time machine; 3) will my NAS still work fine? First, speed . . . I'm running my mac on the 5ghz band with a n wireless card . . . it's faster, but not noticeably. Second, stability . . . it's more stable, but I still can't run a full length movie streaming from my macbook to my PS3 without a few hiccups; it's better, but not perfect. Third, using a USB drive through the AE works perfectly with Time Machine. This is a huge plus for me. Fourth, my existing NAS is competely accessible on my network connected through an ethernet connection. Also, my printer works fine connected through ethernet (not occupying my USB port). The setup wasn't too onerous, but not plug and play either.So, to sum up this is a very strong all around performer. Quite honestly it is the best all around solution for me. It would be a 5 if I noticed the upgrade in speed (both to the 5ghz band and the n technology). I hope this is helpful.

I upgraded from an older Airport BaseStation and this one is awesome. Clearly faster, longer range. For the basics, it works without adjustment out of the box. I would definitely make a few adjustments like adding a password to your network. If you want to adjust the advanced settings it's relatively easy too (either know what you are doing or get someone who does). Great performance and ease of use for someone with little experience and/or very powerful for someone with more professional needs.

Prior to installing the AirPort Extreme Base Station, we had been having a lot of problems with deadspots in our house and interference with our neighbors' wifi networks. Since installing the AirPort Extreme Base Station those issues have gone away. It provides fast, interference-free connectivity throughout our house. Installation was easy, and we have two AirPort Express connected to it running AirTunes so that we get music throughout the house.

I purchased this to replace a failed Apple Time Machine. As with most Apple products, this connected quickly. Amazon's price was about as low as Apple seems to allow. I just hope this doesn't fail in 21 months like the Time Capsule has for so many forum members.

The airport extreme is the best wireless router on the market. I had a Belkin N+ router and a Netgear -neither of which were dual band and kept dropping devices. I installed the Airport Extreme and like all my other Apple products it worked like a wonder. In my opinion the functionality justifies the cost which was $20 cheaper on Amazon vice the Apple store.

I had an Aiport Expresss for probably 5 - 6 years. Product was good not great...had issues always getting connections throughout my house. With several devices in the house (telephones. TIVO, etc) was hoping the dual band Airpot Extreme would improve connectivity. Have not noticed any difference with the Airport Extreme. House is not large but does have several walls. Will probably need to get an unit to amplify signals.

I own all apple products, and of course, they all work together wonderfully. The addition of the Airport Extreme coming from an old crappy D-Link wireless router was like a breath of fresh air. Easy to set up and works consistently! It is a bit pricey compared to other routers, but if you do splurge you won't be disappointed.

This is my second AEBS. I bought this one for my parents, set it up for them and got it running. It's a mac, so its going to work and be easy to install. The only issue is that PC's seem to have a difficult time picking it up and consistently recognizing it. Other than that, it was a great purchase and I'm happy.
