It is very easy to setup. design is very good but very bulky. I don't find it interesting like any other apple products. Not worth the money. But durability might satisfy, let me wait for few years and see..

I bought this Apple Airport Extreme to replace my older Belkin 54G router. I decided to get a used one from Amazon v. New, I couldn't be happier. It was easy to setup, with my 3 Macs. I have a Macbook Pro, MacPro Tower, Mac Mini and an iPhone 3GS. It took me about 10 minutes to setup all three machines, it think it took longer to run the cords and get everything plugged in than to set it up.I have had it for several weeks and I have reset it once due to a conflict with my Macs. I just unplugged the router and waited 30 sec the plugged it back in. I think maybe my cable internet was on the fritz rather than the Airport Extreme. Other than that it works great. I set up a main wireless connection as well as a guest option when I have visitors at my work. It was very simple. I highly recommend this router, I give it a strong A.

Rock solid signal. Great features, being able to add network storage connected to the router is helpful. I also like the ability to have a guest login. Works equally as well with my PCs as it does with my MacBook and other Apple devices.

Bought this recently to replace an older Linksys model, also used a Netgear range extender because I have a big house. I wanted something easy to install, enough range to cover the whole house, handle a mixed network (iMac, older PC laptop, and wireless printers), better security with WPA2, and flexibility. I am a big Apple fan, let me make that clear up front. Based on various comments and reviews, this seemed to be the best bet to handle the mixed network. Setup was very easy, as soon as I disconnected the old Linksys and plugged in the AE device the install prompts jumped up on my remote iMac. Other than a few minor hiccups, basically resetting the cable modem a couple of times, setup via the iMac was a breeze. I then added PC laptops and wireless printers easily, the whole thing took about 15 minutes. Range throughout the large house is excellent, I was told I could continue to use the Netgear range extenders with AE if needed, but the AE does just great on its own. I also like the guest network feature, which allows guests to basically use a separate wireless network which can also be WPA2 protected if desired. I have not used the more advanced network features yet, but will edit this review if I do. Bottom line is I really like the Airport Extreme so far, I know it is not the cheapest alternative on the market, but does everything so far as advertised.

Bought this to replace a Cisco router that had to be reset daily. Works fantastically. Why did I wait so long to buy it?

this is exactly as I expected, however I have one small complaint. Apple ships this product with documentation that doesn't explain correctly how to "extend" the network using an Airport Express. This is a highlighted benefit of using the Airport so I think it bears some explanation. When using an AP Express with an AP Extreme, you can play music on a stereo system plugged into the AP Express as well as increase the overall range and strength of your network.It seems that they've changed their preferred method from the "WDS" system outlined in the document. I was able to figure it out, but I'm not sure that the everyday user would just get it.I've searched out this thread on the Apple forums that explains it:[...]"On the Extreme:Open AirPort Utility, click Manual SetupClick the Wireless tab below the row of iconsWireless Mode would be set to "Create a wireless network"Make sure there is a check mark next to "Allow this network to be extended"Update to save settingsOn the Express:Open AirPort Utility, click Manual SetupClick the Wireless tabWireless Mode would be set to "Extend a wireless network". I purchased a MacBook Pro in January and the salesman at Best Buy suggested that I buy the AirPort Extreme Base Station. He told me that my old router would work but that the Apple product would be lightyears ahead of what I had. I waited until recently to get it, mostly because I remembered what a nightmare it was to set up the old router. I was on the phone to India for an hour before it started working. On top of that my old router would stall on me two or three times a day, prompting me to walk from my office to the living room to reset it. My experience with the Airport Extreme has been exactly the opposite. It took me longer to get it out of the box than it did to set it up and start using it. It has yet to stall on me in the month that I've been using it and it works perfectly with my laptop, wireless printer, Netflix streaming, and my husband's iPad. And it is lightening fast in comparison to my old router. The quality of our Apple products is so superior to anything I've ever had. I can't say enough nice things about them.

Excellent product, delivers exactly what it says it should. Extremely easy installation (as with all Apple things), money well spent.

1 month after purchase review..Bought this to replace a seemingly dying WRT54 linksys.- Range is great- Setup is easy- Many manual configuration options- Simultaneous dual band works great- Maintains higher quality streams on netflix compared to my old wrt which would frequently drop to lower quality.The only thing I wish this had was a little more options as far as dmz settings or QOS go. All in all it's been working nicely.

I have a 2003 Dell desk top that is wired to my DSL and I needed a wireless router so as I could connect a new Toshiba laptop to the system. I looked at many systems and read the reviews but was uncertain until I spoke with the Apple people. They assured me the Airport Extreme would work with any brand and not just Apple. They were correct. As with all new systems and not being computer savvy, I contacted Apple for help. Within minutes I was connected to a live person and get this ..... the person was located in the USA! The apple support was fantastic and they had me up and running within a short period. The machine itself receives top marks, works to perfection. I'll be needing a new desktop within the near future and I know which brand it's going to be.

Very nice router. Sits behind my flatscreen and has a little green dot that indicates the status. Not alot of flashing lights. Simple to install on your pc or in my case Mac. Plug it in set it up and surf the web as fast as you want. A good buy. Can't go wrong with Apple.

This is a wonderful router. It has all the features I'm looking for - fast wireless n, dual band support to allow older computesr with wireless g to connect, guest networks, gigabit etherent ports, the ability to extend the network with WDS. I just set one up and immediately saw the speed improvement on my home wireless network. Currently my laptop is running at 175Mbps.It's great to be able to set up a guest network that doesn't have access to our local network as we frequently have guests that want quick, wireless internet access. I'm looking forward to extending our network to our garage and barn with extender functionality. It seems strange to me that Apple has the premier product in this category - and at a fair price - but there you go. Well done, Apple.The Airport Extreme is simple to set up. The only problem I had was that I had a Verizon-supplied router (ActionTec) to replace. When I replaced it with the Airport Extreme, the WAN link on the Airport did not automatically acquire an IP address. I kept trying to "renew" and it did not work. When I plugged the ActionTec back in, the ActionTec worked. Plugged the Airport back in, it did not work. Finally I saw a post that suggested that I need to first plug in the ActionTec, then _release_ the IP address on the ActionTec, unplug it, plug in the Airport Extreme and things would work. Sure enough - this procedure worked like a charm. Except for this minor issue, configuration has been a dream using the Airport Utility (installed on our home theater Mac Mini).I heartily recommend the airport extreme!

I bought this router because I was tired of reseting my old router at least once a day and was having problems with a network printer and my xbox nat settings it was a huge recurring headache. I have had this apple router for about a week, the installation took all of ten minutes. I have two wireless pc notebooks a media center pc, xbox 360, satelite reciever and network printer the router recognized everything as soon as I hooked it all up and the bonjour printer software found my HP printer right away. No more internet connectivity issues, xbox or printer problems, no more unplugging and counting to thirty. It works like a router should and its worth every penny. It's also very fast.

I'm a big fat Mac Fanboy. This wireless router is a sorry piece of junk.I had a Linksys that began going haywire after a power spike and kept dropping wireless connections; had to restart it a few times a week.The Airport is slow as hell, will not serve iTunes without constantly rebufferring the stream producing three-to-ten minutes of silence at a time.Stay away from this product and instead get a wireless router from a company that depends upon the technology for it's existence.fpd

I picked an Airport Extrme from the local Apple store as the Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH that I bought from Amazon was DOA. Though the setup was easy, its range was just awful. The range was worse than the DLink DIR-655 router that I was replacing. Completely dissatisfied, I promptly returned it and ordered another Buffalo unit. I have been using the Buffalo router for the last three months and am completely happy with its performance.

I replaced an old Linksys WRT54G wifi router + dlink wap with two Airport Extremes. Setup was very easy with great documentation. The speed and stability of my new network is fantastic. Rock-solid. My favorite features are that Apple supports and documents how to set up a large network with one AE as router and other ones in bridge mode. IP reservation is also nice - my nas will now always have the same ip address that I can hardcode into media player. All-in-all a great product.

I am certainly not a technology genius so I can't attest to a lot of the comments made about this product but I can say that for my needs, I love it. I set it up in about 5 minutes and had both laptops online in a minute or two. One laptop a PC and one a macbook. Setting up a private (password protected) network was very easy. We've had it about 2 months now and use it every day for hours (work-at-home) and have zero complaints. I also love that I can plug my external hard drive right into it and access my files on any computer wirelessly.

We have two laptops in our condo, my Macbook and my daughter's PC. I was using the older version of Airport Express (b/g) and it worked fine. But things started to slow down due to interference from other networks, and it was struggling to support a wireless device about 45 feet away in a bedroom. I initially upgraded to a new Airport Express with the faster "n" speed, but could not get my daughter's laptop to work on it because it wouldn't support the "n" speed. After talking to the fine folks at Apple, they advised that I return the Express and go with the Extreme. This was great advice! The Extreme was extremely simple to set-up and both laptops work extremely fast because of the Extreme's dual band support of the "b/g" and "n" speeds.One caution though, the Extreme base station requires that you upgrade to Mac OS 10.5. This forced me to upgrade from Tiger to Snow Leopard. I was initially worried that I would have problems doing this, but the upgrade went smoothly, with no stalls, problems or error messages.I now feel that I have a brand new Macbook. Even though it is almost three years old now, it runs faster and the Extreme base station works flawlessly on both my Macbook and my daughter's PC laptop.Apple-haters can say what they want, but Apple products just flat out are designed for simplicity of installation and use. Their customer support is also the best. I highly recommend this product.

I've used a Linksys WRT-54G and/or a Belkin G-router for years. Both lost wireless connectivity numerous times and required frequent reboots, both burned out and had to be replaced (the Linksys was replaced twice). I finally gave in and decided to give Apple's router a go, not thrilled about spending the extra money despite my love for Apple products. I only use Macs so I'm well versed in Apple's products and usability. I have to tell you, this router is fantastic. Now, it's unfair to compare the range and speed to my old routers as they were Wireless-G and the Airport Extreme is Wireless-N, so I won't compare those aspects but suffice to say, speed and range are spectacular thanks to Wireless-N. And just as important, the speed at which my MacBook Pro actually connects to the wireless network is incredibly fast. So when the laptop wakes from sleep or whenever I need to turn my wireless off and turn back on later, the connection is almost instant. I don't know if this is due to Wireless-N or to the router, but it's impressive nonetheless.The Airport utility that comes built into Mac OS X (same as the utility Apple provides for Windows) is excellent and easy to use.I rarely ever lose wireless connectivity. Maybe once or twice ever with this router. That alone has saved me a lot of time in troubleshooting, rebooting routers, cussing, etc.Bottom line, if you use wireless networking as much as my family does, then spend the extra money and buy this router. My experience says you won't regret it and I'd definitely buy this router again. Your mileage may vary.

I set up my AirPort so that I could use my Apple computer, HP wireless printer, and PS3 online using a 80211n microwave based server. Works fantastic, and speaks all their languages fluently so that I don't have any issues. The only difference I notice is that instead of clicking the button and having my internet come up instantly, there is about a three second delay, but it's nothing that creates a problem. Once you start using your web browser, it's just as fast as can be. Highly recommend this product.

From the beginning this router impressed me. It is extremely easy to setup - and networking can be very complicated. I have been using this router for over two months and continue to be impressed. I originally set up the router with a DSL modem, which was quick and easy. The router walks the user through a few simple steps for the set up. There is a manual option (during set up or at any time afterward) that one can choose to customize or set up additional features (e.g., port forwarding). A few weeks after I set up the router for DSL I switched to cable. Instead of entering the manual set up I decided to reset the router since the initial set up was so easy. Sure enough, it was just as easy to set this up for a cable modem as it was for a DSL modem. Since installation, this router has been completely trouble-free and reliable.This router offers special functions to Mac users. Specifically, it works well with Apple's Back to my Mac feature and also with the new "Wake on LAN" Snow Leopard feature. The "Wake on LAN" feature allows one Mac (and possibly a PC) to wake another Mac (only) for network functions such as file sharing and printing.There are some advanced features this router lacks (the cnet review covers them). Quality of Service (QoS) functionality is the one I would have liked to see in the product, but am willing to trade it for an overall better user experience.Highly recommend this router.

Misleading instructions. I needed to use two ethernets. The instructions only mentioned using one router. It would've been very simple to have just mentioned that two ethernets would be needed to complete the circuit.

I consider myself computer savvy, no expert, but can manage myself around. I purchased a bridge/access point and put it on the side when i replaced it with the Airport Extreme, just plug and play, it's that easy, no need to call customer service for your equipment to work, not manuals to try to decipher.The money is well as you won't waste your time looking around, collecting all types of modems/routers in your home and then trying to sell on ebay lately.

This is my second personal Airport. Unlike previous wireless "routers", the Airport works. It connects to the source easily (one is connected via cable; one is connected via DSL), and stays connected (no constant resetting). Speed is fast. Wireless connection is extremely reliable, with an extensive range. Expansion is unbelievably easy by adding an Airport Express (or two). Works well cross-platform (with Macs and PCs). My group of friends now all have Airports. All are completely satisfied with the range, reliability, and ease of use.

Buying this Apple Airport base station was the best thing ever! A little pricey but well worth it. The speed of my internet connection has improved and it was easy to setup. I highly recommend it to any one who wants to buy a wireless router to go with Apple Airport. My previous wireless router was d-link and I'm glad that I don't have to put up with slow speed connection and keep having to reset it any more. I hope my comment helps people decide whom aren't too sure whether or not buying airport base station would be a good idea. Buy it, it's a great product.

Used only for a couple of days so far so good, was sort of difficult to configure, no difficult, did all the right steps but refused to let me get into internet, of course after many tryals and errors, was a little detail in the configuration, though Airport Utility was not able to recognize and solve the problem. The hardware part is a piece of cake to install!

I thought I ordered the wrong part upon arrival. I sent an email to try to figure it out. Soon after, I received an email confirming it was in fact the correct part, I installed it and it's working correctly. The antenna install was the hardest part, but that's not your fault! I read a lot of scary reviews about how Vista users couldn't connect and how setting up the aebs was a nightmare. So with steely grit I un-boxed my aebs, connected all the peripherals, installed the airport utility on my laptop and followed the wizard.I was up and running under 15 mins. This router is fast and 48 hours later I still haven't had an excuse to reboot it, much better than my old Netgear. I highly recommend buying an Airport Extreme.

I bought this product to replace my old Linksys wireless router.Now I can wirelessly stream 1080p HD videos and watch them without losing frames (using the 5ghz "n" connection).The product was easy to setup, I just powered it up and my MBA automatically started the setup utility without needing to use the installation CD. It also automatically duplicated the wireless settings on my Linksys, like network name, security mode and passkey, so no change was needed on my devices in order to accept the new router (that was just great).But in order to force a 5ghz connection from my Macs, I had to install the utility from the CD and perform some additional setup (like creating the 5ghz separate access point).The only feature I missed from my Linksys is dyndns support.

I've gone through my share of routers and none have come close to the Airport Extreme when it comes to setup ease and performance. Yes it costs a little more than other solutions, but it also does more, and you can set it up and forget it. Mine has given me flawless wireless performance across a wide range of WiFi devices. Excellent router.

Easy to set up. Likely the best A/B/G/N router on the market. Only issue is that some Vista machines need driver updates on their wireless cards to work with this router.

They should tell you up front that it will not work with NTFS. I work from home and need wireless for Pocket PC and VPN that is stable. Went through 3 $40 routers in the last month and this was the only option I could find that seemed to have better quality with good user reviews. The 1 tera bit USB drive formated in FAT32 is extremely slow accessing via network, but it does work and is a nice feature. Got several N cards for the other computers and they work fine, but they operate at the same speed as the older G cards.

I. Am. Really.Impressed! - Received the Airport Express less than half an hour ago - inserted the CD in my Mac - plugged it in - changed network name, added a password and VOILA!!!! It's running way, way better than my Belkin Play.It's simple, elegant, just one light, and just like everything that Apple produces, super-user friendly. Highly recommended!Haven't tried it with my other WiFi friendly toys, but I'm sure it's going to be as impressive.

Apple's Airport Extreme is pretty great. It's sleak, easy to use, small, and gives a really good wireless range even through old/thick walls throughout my apartment. It is a little pricey for what it is, you could easily get a Linksys router of equal excellence for fairly cheaper, but this is worth it if you want a hassle free user experience. That and within the first week of obtaining my router my apartment was struck by lightning which rendered the router not able to turn on. I have read about this problem occurring more than you'd think. Lightning affects the router pretty easily though Apple and or Amazon have been good to replace it, so I would recommend using a high quality surge protector with it.

This router was easy to install, and it works as promised. I have it connected to 2 Macs, 2 PCs, a Sony PS3, 2 Rokus and a Samsung TV.

.I love it. Easy to use and setup, using the normal IP ranges. Will not support custom IP ranges--but who needs to do that? Using NAT slows it down. As does the Guest network.I'll keep this short. Do not use the Guest Network. Keep it all on Wireless N--for the fastest speeds. The G-service limits speeds.I also love the Airport Express also. I have three of this and plan to buy one more.

This was my third wireless network purchases (1st Belkin & 2do Cisco-Linksys). I was really frustrated with the other two brands. Finally I have wireless internet up and running at home, even though I'm a PC user. Additionally I also purchased the Apple Airport Express to expand the connections further around the house.It has been the perfect solution for me, as well as a nice design that integrates nicely around the house.

This product replaces a series of D-Link routers. While those worked, every one of them (most recent a MIMO Super-G model) was unstable and finicky. The latest would "forget" it's settings and have to be rebooted at least once a week, and sometimes even a couple of times a day. The last time, it even forgot how to access the web as a DHCP v. PPPoE connection, so a reboot alone did not help - we had to set up the whole thing again from scratch. D-Link support was not much help and never could explain the instability - we even tried surge suppressors and filtered power supplies.Since we are a Mac household (24" iMac and two MacBooks), we bit the bullet to spend extra money for this Apple router. Best decision we could have made - who cares if it cost more if the product does everything you want and does it well?The router arrived 48 hours after the order was placed. From the moment we opened the box to the time we were on the web, less than fifteen minutes. Most of that time was just moving Ethernet cables from the old box to the Apple. The setup utility at first transferred the old D-Link settings to the Airport, but that did not work. So we just started again from scratch, and about a minute later after a reboot, we were off to the races.It has been about a week. No crashes, no reboots, one service suspension in order to download/install a firmware upgrade (all of 2 minutes). Faster than before, and the extra Guest network is a real plus. Stronger signal than before too - five bars all over the house when compared to two at best in the further reaches with the D-Link.The USB 2.0 connection to our HP networked color laser worked perfectly - we found the printer and it was on the network in seconds via Bonjour. We'll probably get a hub and attach a network hard drive at some point, fully confident it will work like a charm.We got what we paid for, and would do it again without a second of hesitation. Bulletproof. Highest recommendation.

I always had trouble with my old Linksys. Now I can get online immediately and it stays there. Love it. Also, it was real simple to install.

I had a linksys that was giving me all kinds of problems. It had limited range and difficult to configure security settings. I have two airport express units for printing and connection to my stereo. When I decided to give up the linksys I figured an Apple router would be the best choice to work seamlessly with the airport express' -and I was right.Setup was fast & easy and I was securely browsing the web, printing & listening to music in no time. Even though there's no visible exterior antenna on the airport extreme, it gives me at least 40% greater range than the linksys did with an exterior booster antenna.

I am a Apple fan for sure. I have a Mac desktop, iPad, iPod touch, shuffle, and several nanos. This router is sweet. Easy setup, great range, and even looks nice. A must buy...

Long range...of course if your house is very big add mac airport to you're Extreme Dual Base station And you'll get the best signal needed. Two thumbs up!

I ordered this as a replacement for my Airport Extreme power cable. It is not an Apple product and is the wrong size for the Aiport Extreme. Therefore, it was of no use to me. It is very frustrating to have the product listed as being for an Airport Extreme when it is no such thing. Will not buy again from this seller.

Just 4 words .... Simple and it Works!!! I have 5 of these dual band units in my home running bridged WDS flawlessly. Tried other brand routers and Apple Extreme duo blows them all away. Trust a company that makes great products!
