Very Good Processor and Great Value
Just fitted this into my motherboard also purchased from Amazon and it works great. This was my first self build PC and I opted for this as it suited my motherboard. Was delivered on time and easily fitted with clear and concise instructions. There was not much difference on my PC than the Dual Core AMD Processor I had previously on my old machine so not giving it 5 stars as I thought the difference would be very noticible. Just done a CPU speed test and its showing 3.723 mhz so working just as it should.

gaming is a upgrade 55701gb ddr3 which ran good also 6770 doubles it big time it runs bf3 on high settings and its more real looking also.

i like vista- i have no complaints why buy windows 7 when there the same thing
windows 7 doesnt have some security features init thats why you might feel its smoothier , but windows has a list where you get those security programs installed anyways buy a old version of vista your better off.

Pour la première fois que je changeai un processeur, j'ai eu des sueurs forides :
ca AM3+ nécessite obligatoirement des ram DDR3, quand je l'ai installé sur ma carte où il y avait les DDR2 d'origine, le ventilo tournait mais rien ne démarrait...
Sinon l'emballage et la qualité du produit sont parfait. Une petite doc de matériel compatible serai la bien venue car même sur le site AMD rien n'est indiqué sur les RAM.
Après installation une plus grande célérité est constatée.
Le ventilo fourni possède sa propre pate étalée, mais j'ai préféré installé un ventirad bequiet shadow pro bien plus silencieux.

AMD does it again
I recently built my first gaming PC for under $600. I wanted a decent computer on a budget, so I decided to go with AMD rather than Intel. To be honest, I think I would have gone with AMD even if I had an unlimited budget. I have, for the entirety of my sentience, despised brands that advertise "higher quality" despite similar specs at exorbitantly higher prices (ehem, Apple). Sure, Intel chips may be pretty, sparkly, etc, but AMD sells similarly spec'd chips at nearly half the cost, and offers great customer support. I will, for as long as I and AMD exist, buy their chips for that reason. This CPU specifically has caused me no troubles and when I build another computer, AMD will be in it. This, or the FX 6xxx series, are your best bet for a gaming PC on a budget.

Good Solid Processing
First time I've used the Bulldozer chip (always used Phenum II processors in the past. Great chip and is rock steady in Windows 8 paired with an Asus AM3+ motherboard. Haven't had the need to overclock it as it runs pretty quick in standard clock mode. Overclocking is available though , especially if you're a gamer demanding more power. Highly recommended if your building an AMD3+ system. Note: have also used the 6 core and 'Tri' core Athelon chips by AMD are they are all great processors.

good processor
i have not stretched this CPU at all yet no overclock at the moment however i did run some benchmarks at stock clocks .......
on cinebench it scored 2.8 and on 3d mark vantage it scored around the 9000 mark so for the price i don't think is bad especially with it also being at stock clocks great CPU if you can go for the 6 core or the 8 core just for the extra performance for those of you that are interested it scored a 7.3 in windows.

Very Good Value CPU
Let's just start by saying that this is not the CPU to buy if you're building a serious gaming rig. There are a number of other AMD CPUs better suited for gaming, including the FX-8100/8120, the Phenom II Black Edition 4, 6 & 8 core CPUs, etc. But if you're building a system for a home office, general use or even light to moderate gaming, I think the FX-4100 is a very good value. I have it installed in an ASRock Extreme4 mobo w/8GB of RAM and a Crucial M4 SSD that I use for photo editing, home office, etc., and it is more than enough CPU. Lightroom 4 and Photoshop Elements 10 open in seconds, batch processing of several hundred photos in LR4 is just as fast and layers in PE 10 open and close in a blink. I am very satisfied with this CPU.

Better price/performance value than Sandy Bridge i3, power hog, no upgrade path
Upside is that compared to a Sandy Bridge i3 system this is more value because it is overclockable to who knows how much (I've got 4500MHz with stock cooler and +0.025V increase).
Downside is more power consumption and seemingly no upgrade path because more powerful FX series processors are not better value than Sandy Bridge. Only this one is. And also because AM3+ isn't going anywhere, it seems but I can't be sure yet. While Socket 1155 is expected to have Ivy Bridge soon.
Overall feeling I have is that I'd rather have a Socket 1155 Sandy Bridge based system. Oh well. Next time.
For Linux this works well but I'm in the process of reporting a bug about a bug somewhere in the Linux stack where using the Gigabyte GA-880GMA-USB3 mainboard with the onboard graphics I have to disable CPU frequency scaling. Otherwise I have display stuttering / framedrops.
UPDATE: I solved this bug by updating to the latest BIOS.
