I took the drive out and tried to connect it to my desktop and it said there was a fatal hardware error.
I requested a replacement and hope that it will not have this issue, but it seems these ssds are hit or miss. Will see what happens with the replacement.

A tip for those installing SSDs like this one where the capacity isn't very large : if it is a desktop or a laptop where you do not intend to use the 'hibernation' function of Windows, you can disable it, freeing up whatever capacity of RAM is for that unit. So if you have a PC with 8GB of ram, you will get an additional 8GB of free space on your SSD by doing this.
Open a command prompt with administrative privileges, and type "powercfg -h off" without the quotes and press enter. You won't get a response from the command prompt, but that command disables the hibernation for that system, instantly freeing up that drive space. Sleep mode will be unaffected. I find that very few people these days use the hibernation mode, so this is just wasted space in that regard. You can look up how to open a command prompt for your particular version of Windows using a web search, but it is quite easy. This will not work for a user account without administrative rights however, so if you want to do this on a PC at your workplace, consult your IT department to see if it is within their operational protocol to perform for you.

However, upon further researching, I will probably be pushing customers to buy the SU-800 models instead of the SU-760 because SU-800's have a dedicated DRAM chip which makes the drive faster and extends the lifespan of the flash memory. However the SU-760 model claims to have an "Embedded DRAM Buffer" which (according to my understanding) is similar to having a dedicated DRAM chip. I am still confident that these drives will hold and possibly outlive the computers that I've equipped with them.

Will never buy ADATA products again.

A good purchase and a good price, I just wouldn't recommend it for the main drive in a computer build.



On my older HP laptop I decided it was time to dump the 5400 RPM mechanical HDD and put this bad mamma in it and wow what a difference! BIOS/UEFI loading takes longer than Windows 10 now days. I get all of the way through startup junk in like 5 seconds.
If you're looking to jump your performance for a little investment this is deffinately the way to go. The first of this SSD I dropped into my PC at home that I use for all kinds of things from work to watching videos. Having downsized from a 1TB HDD to this smaller drive I thought I was going to have a hard time but I just used my 1TB as a data store and now I have plenty of room for everything.
I'm certainly a huge fan of these, especially because I'm legally blind and I have to use a screen reader for computers. Usually it took FOREVER to load SuperNova or even NVDA on my laptop but not any more. Even the resource whore screen readers I use load in no time flat.
The only con I can honestly come up with is that when I go and sit at my work computer using a 7200RPM HDD it's sllllllooooooooowwwwwwww-w-w-w and annoying. It takes something near 5 minutes to load Windows and get to my startup screen, then after I login it's another 3-5 minutes for all of the startup junk. Obviously it's not this SSD's fault that other drives perform at a much slower read/write but it is really annoying LoL.



Very fast for a read-intensive situation. I have a conference-room computer that I am using to test these ADATA SP550's. Speed difference going from a mechanical hard disk was immense, but what was surprising is how the computer "felt" vs a Samsung 850 Evo or Intel 535. Feeling was identical for read-intense situations. It has reportedly good endurance, so we shall see how it does over time
This is great for a general use SSD. Intense write speeds are not what this SSD was designed for, if you are looking something that you can punish I would suggest the Samsung 850 Pro, Sandisk Extreme series, or Intel 730 series. Samsung has really bad QA on their firmware so I tend to avoid them for business use. Intel is great as long as you avoid the 540s TLC drive, I would probably buy this ADATA before the Intel 540s...


Adonis cloning SW would not work on one of my notebooks (older Toshiba dog with AMD CPU), and so I needed to buy other cloning SW. Was finally able to get it running. Adonis problem was unfortunate, as the Adonis cloning SW is really easy to use, compared to others. (My problem was that it would not run at all on the old Toshiba Windows 8 machine, not that it gave problems in operation). Other SW is usually more difficult to use, needing to get into details of partitions, etc. When using smaller SSD than existing HD, difficulties arise. Adonis handled this easily on my other Windows 10 i7 machine.
I would have no hesitation at all ordering more of these SSD's, as they work well and are low price. Original worries about low price meaning problems were unfounded.


I bought this to install in my desktop to use it as a secondary Drive to default Apps, Pic's Vid's, Doc's too on Win 10.
IT was very easy to install and setup was easy, I just went to Drive Management and formatted the drive to NTSF.
Works great for my Application as a secondary Drive.

I mainly bought this drive for Path of Exile, because I'm playing on a laptop and my 5400 RPM drive would literally make me wait over ONE MINUTE AND THIRTY seconds just to load the game, and then FORTY FIVE SECONDS to ONE MINUTE to load new areas that had not been previously loaded into cache.
With the ADATA SSD, I quite literally load these same areas in like five to six seconds, flat. It makes me wonder if the drive I had before was SATA2, because the performance increase is too good. I load the game now in under ten seconds.
