Good Way to Recharge an Aging Laptop!
I selected this drive for price and capacity plus general reviews. The largest concern with this drive is data transmissions rates when moving large files. I use this drive in an old, 2011 laptop originally loaded with Windows Vista, and upgraded to Windows 7, then 10. The drive improved the laptop's speed for the tools I use on it, such as MS Office, Internet Browsing, and other light desktop publishing. The laptop went from booting in 5-minutes to booting in 35-seconds.
I was very happy with the Acronis True Image software, but a little surprised that I had to "Register" for it. The software does a good job cloning my Hard drive over and I had no problems connecting when done.
Of course the laptop is old with an old processor, but has good memory and now a fast Hard Drive.

Died within a week.
After I first cloned my OS to it, I needed to forcefully boot into it. It was never detected as a bootable drive. Shortly after that, it wouldn't even show up in the UEFI as an attached SATA device. My last Adata SSD works perfectly, it was just too small so wanted to upgrade to a larger SSD. Tried installing Fedora to it to see if it would boot that either and it wouldn't. Disappointed since my last one is still working so great. Just a bad apple perhaps.

Vastly Improved Boot Time Over Mechanical Drive
Bought this to replace the mechanical drive in an old i5-based Lenovo with 8GB of RAM. This drive greatly reduced the boot time and usability of a PC that had just been gathering dust. Now it is used daily for YouTube, to program Arduinos and for one legacy game, which now loads much faster. Dollar-for-dollar, the best investment in an old PC I've made in a long time.

Be careful
Ok i have to take 2 stars.... why? I work with computers and phones. I had two customers with dells laptops.. both of them had the same issues....the computers crashed in to blue screens. I thought that was only a defective drive but no.... DELL LAPTOPS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THOSE SSD. I installed in macs, asus and others laptop and they worked perfectly but in dell no. So be aware.

Not the Fastest SSDs but a Great Value and Reliable
We use these with in FreeNAS storage server to host XenServer virtual machines. Using SSDs for VM storage is AMAZINGLY fast. These are not the highest performing SSDs you can buy but they are still five times or more faster than conventional hard drives. Faster than 15K SAS drives and at a comparable price point, I'll go with SSD every time.
These have been in production for eight months and we're not even scratching the surface of their write endurance so I doubt they'll need replacement based on usage. They seem to be as reliable as conventional media.

Great Upgrade Option To Revive Older PCs
The short answer... This drive is a great value for the business machine that manages mostly small files. It adds renewed life to older machines at a great value. Applications open quickly and boot times dropped from 60 seconds to under 10 seconds. Definitely a recommended buy!
Read/Write speeds are accurate from the manufacturer. This was purchased to replace the mechanical HDD in a low-end office workstation based on an i3 and 8Gb or RAM. This alone gave the feeling of triple the speed. Definitely worth the price to upgrade for added productivity. Other issues mentioned by other reviewers are that it uses a small amount of fast flash memory combined with larger and slower memory for the remainder. My experience is dealing with small Office documents and image files, and this combination works great for an office environment where there may not be a lot of large file sizes as you would with video or graphic design.

Fine enough, but poor power loss protection
The drive works fine enough in ideal conditions. The area it is lacking is the power loss protection. In the event of a sudden power loss this drive is always unrecognizable and I have to do several power cycles to get it to be recognized in windows again. This is not only inconvenient but I suspect data loss or corruption is inevitable. I would rather spend a little extra for something else.

Died within months
The product install as it should and ran fast for a short while. I rebooted and my PC didn't come up. Reinstalled my optical drive and tried this one via USB, no good. I have requested a new one and will update this once installed and functional for at least 6 months. Would avoid in future unless results significantly better.

This is ADATA approach to the perfect value/price ssd to compete with all the other in this price range, which all are excellent choices, i wonder... why did i pick this one instead of more manly or gamer still one.... i mean is a good art but it doesnt tell anyone im a gamer like all my stuff do.
So why did i chose this drive. Ill think i was charmed with the price and when i found out his good TBW i made the decision to get it.
This is my first day with an ssd, im using it right now. The installment of windows 10 was super smooth and it boot in 4.3sec. But i wont like 100% recommend it util i get the fire prove in the burning ground, with all the games and month of hard pushing. Let hope for the best.

So far this product has worked great, any application that i throw at it, specially games get destroyed with fast fast fast load time, i can compare the diference we some friends that have i7 and i5 with normal disk drive, of course they get more FPS than my i3 2100 but i love everthing twice as fast to the point i have to hang 5-10sec for them to finish loading. I totally recommend anyone using a HDD to left it behind for photos,music, and videos.
Very pleased with the result so far ADATA.
So why did i chose this drive. Ill think i was charmed with the price and when i found out his good TBW i made the decision to get it.

Failed in 9 months
Failed in 9 months. Windows would not boot up. BIOS doesn't even see the SSD. It use to be intermittent; a few reboots would work. Then 1 in 50 reboots may boot up windows. Plugged into another computer and it could not see it. Finally it booted up once and I cloned it onto a Samsung SSD. Samsung SSD boots right up.

udpate: 3 out of 3 dead after 4 months
I bought 3 of these in November. Two are already dead. Amazon replaced the first one since it was within 30 days. For the second one Amazon said they only replace within 30 days and I have to contact the manufacturer. I'm going through that process now.
update: The third one failed 2/26/2020. Going through the warranty process on the third one now....

Failed after 2 years
ADATA SP550 480gb SSD installed in a Macbook Pro and formatted in APFS. Failed a little after 2 years of usage. Will get in touch with the vendor to see if their 3 year warranty is legit. Until then, 1 star due to poor reliability. Should have paid more for a well known and reliable brand.

Registering the product to access the software is a nightmare
It took me 5 minutes to install the drive. It took me hours to gain access to the cloning software.
The print on the package is small. The print in the directions is even smaller. You are prompted to register the product by scanning a QR code, which means doing it on your phone. Of course the registration doesn't take your product code. Without registering the product code you can't get the cloning software. This is especially frustrating on a phone.
Checking support to find a solution pretty much amounts to "make sure you're entering the product code correctly".
Go back to the putting in the 13 digit code. The problem is that the code you have is only 10 digits. There are no other codes that it could possibly be, and there are no numbers missing or scratched off. It's only 10 digits;
After about an hour of going in circles with this, I got the idea of looking up the drive in the device manager, and looking at properties. Whataya know, there's another number ( which is not on the box as they said it was) which ended up being what the registration form was looking for. Cool, now I can get access to the software, right? Wrong.
The next email has a link the says that I now need to enter the warranty code to get the software key. Where is the warranty code? On the back of the drive that I already installed.
This is a text book example of how what may be a great product is ruined by horrible, confusing UI, over complicated product registration process that prevents you from actually using the product.
Never been more frustrated on my life. I literally went from excited to hating this company and vowing to never spend another dime on anything they make ever again.
Take my advice. Don't do it. I can guarantee there are easier ways to buy and use an SSD.

Mines was partially DOA
Installed it as an external first to check it out and format only to see it won't recognize its full capacity. No errors were shown but it only "sees" about 200 GB and not 1TB. I suspect a few dead chips. Learned my lesson to save a few bucks, never had issues with Samsung, Crucial, or Plextors I've used heavily in the past.

Great drive at a great price.
I got this SSD as a "used like new" item via Prime and I got it for a REALLY good price so I am very happy. Ive used the drive to store some photos just to make sure that its functioning as its supposed to but it will eventually be installed into my desktop to hold the OS and become the desktops boot disk. As I said, Im very happy to have been able to purchase this quality and name brand of an SSD at such a great price. Thanks Amazon!

Data transfer rate isn't great. It causes a lag in processes on my laptop. Have purchased several of these and see similar results. If using for storage only not as a primary drive it's cheap and will work ok.

I appreciate a good value with quality. To be sure, there are less / more expensive brands of SSDs, but this is the 3rd or 4th time I have bought an ADATA branded drive. Each time, the software transfer / install is easy. ADATA is a brand that is really earning my trust, and I look forward to dealing with them again

Good SSD for the price
I admit I'm too cheap to afford the Samsung EVO so this one was the next one on the wish-list. Not a single problem after about 8 months of usage on a Win 7 mid-tower PC. Cloning the SSD from a larger 1TB mechanical disk was not a problem with the free included software. Obviously you'll need to make sure the original disk doesn't have more stuff than the new SSD or the software will not know where to put the excess data. The first thing was the amazingly fast boot-up and the improved responsiveness that now my wife always want to use my desktop and not her laptop. Please note that there is no cables or enclosures or other hardware accessories in this purchase.

developed bad sectors one week after return window closed
When this drive worked, it was great; an affordable, fast SSD, exactly what I was looking for. About 4 weeks into using it, I noticed that the drive was disconnecting during extended writes (downloading Microsoft Flight Sim overnight). It is now basically unusable; even though it shows in Windows (and even tests ""good""), it will invariably disconnect once it starts being used. This could be a fluke of production, but being burned for $100 is enough to make me not buy Adata products again.
For those interested, I have tested my motherboard and power connections, and swapped them with my (working) C drive; these issues are conclusively tied to the hard drive itself.

Good drive, had to RMA but quick return
I bought this to use as fast storage for video editing. While it worked well for that, it eventually developed issues being recognized on the computer. I thought it might have been a loose connection but after trying a few external sleds and sata connections it was clear it was the drive. Fortunately, every once and a while the drive would be recognized and slowly I was able to get everything off and back it up before reformatting. Then it worked for a while, until transferring a particularly large incompressable file. Then it was never recognized again.
I RMAed with ADATA and they quickly sent me a new drive. The customer service was simply quick and efficient which I really appreciated. So now I am trucking with the new drive. Amazon reviews seem to suffer from grade inflation, where if someone likes a product it gets 5 stars. If I had no issue with the first drive I would have done the same. With a large enough sample size, any product will have issues, especially with electronics. So I would bet money the new drive works fine in the long run. It is a different SKU, so I'll post a review there sometime down the line.

It gets the job done. But it dies when I benchmark it.
It gets the job done. You seen a cheap SSD real quick for basic use? This is the right thing to buy. You need a premium SSD with better cache and etc and premium price? Look somewhere else.
Update April 2019: It worked fine for years but died few seconds into a benchmark when I decided to see write and read speeds. So I am not able to get to the data I have in there. It does not show up anywhere. Yeah it lasted years on a light use, but this is still unacceptable by my standards. I am sorry.
For contrast, I've had 850 EVO from Samsung for much longer and it survived lots of abuse. And I mean, a LOT of abuse.

Current Benchmark: 52.16 MB/s Random Read Speed
I had to replace the primary boot rives in my laptop and my desktop. This SSD has out-performed the previous SSD's that were in there (the better of the two was an OCZ Vertex 3) in speed and reliability. Just ran a benchmark on the ADATA drive on my laptop: 52.16 MB/s random read speed. I can't imagine a better SSD for the the price. I use ADATA RAM also, which has been flawless for me. Point is, ADATA might not have the "clout" and marketing budget of Kingston, Crucial, or Samsung, but this company is a hidden gem in the world of computer memory. I've never had a product of theirs fail or disappoint me.

No complaints, got a bunch of storage on my RP4 now
Bought other ADATA SSDs in the past. So far no issues with this one which im using with my Raspberry Pi4 works perfect.
FYI... Make sure you find the correct USB SSD adapter, as not all work with the Pi4. SSD is not the issue, its the chipset inside the SSD to USB adapters.

I bought ADATA SP550 1TB few weeks ago and to add on my new Lenovo Y700 laptop for 2nd SSd drive. I searched Lenovo forum to see any one did that before, but got no information. Also, I searched Google for top ten of 2.5" DDS drives and found one web put ADATA 2.5" SSD in 2nd position. I disassembled the laptop and installed the bracket , cable and the SSD. The drive found by BIOS instantly and very easy to be activated using Microsoft command and to be assigned to "E" drive . I did full drive R/W check and every thing is good. I am very happy with the purchase.
ADADA has a service station in Brea, California. The technician over there helped me ( by the phone) to bypass " Warranty number" to install software ( I did not write down the warranty number on the back of SSD before install ). He is very patient and hi-skilled.
I suggest ADATA would use ONE Serial Number ( not 3 different numbers ) to identify every single ADATA unit for registration and downloading migration software. The S/N can appeared on box and sticker on unit. It would be much easier for user.
