While the switch is fast, after about a week of successful use there was a glitch which left me locked out. I attempted a factory reset, but the factory reset button did not work. So now I have a really fast switch which I cannot use. I contacted ZyXEL customer support and their recommendation was to hit the factory reset button. For the seven days that the switch ran, it was excellent, but now? It's just a brick I cannot use. I would not buy another ZyXEL product again because, while I accept faulty components from time to time, the lack of customer support is unacceptable.

This was probably the best value for a 16-port managed gigabit switch out there. So far, we are very happy with the performance.Unfortunately, it seemed to not like dealing with more than one VLAN. We tried setting up two VLANs and the first VLAN tagged appropriately, but the second failed to tag at all creating all sorts of strange anomalies in our traffic. We ended up having our 5-port router handle VLAN tagging.

This was probably the best value for a 16-port managed gigabit switch out there. So far, we are very happy with the performance.Unfortunately, it seemed to not like dealing with more than one VLAN. Our company upgrade to Gigabit network for new location after we move. While I was searching for Gigabit unmanaged switch, I found this managed switch in great price @ $160.48($137.66+S&H+Tax). Still did NOT have much time to play with Web-Managed features - seems to be a basic feature set of managed switch - clean interface, simply setup without trouble. Seems to work fine for all ports and connections still now. I could highly suggest who is looking for economical gigabit switch for the price point of unmanaged switch! Great Buy~!

This managed switch is very feature rich, providing about anything a network savvy person would want to tweak around with network packets (port mirroring for seamless network captures), VLAN, jumbo packets, link aggregation and so on. Compared to analogous hardware from Netgear, Trendnet and others, this is a bargain that actually works.

Great choice if you need a larger GB switch for a small to medium size network. Fast throughput means backups run faster.And if you need to create VLANs, that's an option.Only thing to watch for is that the default IP address may conflict with your router, so be sure to set it BEFORE connecting it to your network if it needs to be changed.
