PROS:
Easy to set up and pair,
Very nice vibrent screen,
Quite a few watch faces to choose from,
Sp02 sensor is spot on,
I like the little map that tracks your route.
CONS:
Heart rate is not accurate, my resting heart rate is usually around 65, this device reports 40 which is dangerously inaccurate,
Step counter has no way of setting stride length I could find so distance metrics will be wrong,
The strap could come undone easily,
The app is appalling, it looses settings and data randomly, the sleep tracking can't cope with you getting up then going back to bed minutes later, it won't autosync so you have to remember to do it otherwise it will again loose your data.
Haven't had it long enough to test battery life but it seems to loose less than 10% per day so far.
I really want to rate this higher as it's got a lovely screen and the app has a pleasing UI but I really can't due to the above issues. If they improve the app and sort out the heart rate sensor problems with a firmware update I will change my review.
Great if you want a discrete band to accompany a traditional watch (I’m an automatic Seiko fan, hence got rid of my Apple Watch). The display is just lovely and you can customise it. The tracking is rather good and actually better than cheap Fitbit etc.
the only minus is, as with many Chinese products meant for Android devices, the messy way all the apps connect and uncertainty which apps was meant to be used with it. It has a lot to do with the convoluted way those technology companies brand their products (Xiaomi, Zepp, Huami). It created a multitude of duplicate accounts and all ask for your data.
When mi band reached 80%, I used a Lenovo Smart M8 tablet to scan the QR code from the user manual. The app refused to install. Not compatible. Tried on an old Xperia XA (Android 7) smart phone, and it installed and paired with the mi band 6. It then took further hour to update the firmware to v1.0.1.36. It could be my phone to blame for slowness.
Once firmware was updated, I tried to turn on continuous heart rate monitoring. I could see the Heart rate graph on the phone app reporting 'No data', but no where was there a setting to turn it on within the app or the phone. (Update: the setting may be in Advanced Settings > Heart Rate. I cannot confirm)
Then I eventually realised the app I downloaded was called 'Xiaomi Wear', and that all youtube videos I had studied referred to 'Mi Fit' app. Once I downloaded the Mi Fit app, I was able to find and turn on continuous heart rate monitoring.
I can't comment on battery endurance at this time. Using just continuous (every minute) heart monitoring and NOT using bluetooth to continuously link to a smartphone (for notifications), the power level dropped from 100 to 90% in 24 hours.
Update: After 7 days, the power level has dropped to 45%. It's so easy to connect the magnetic charger to the mi band, and took less than an hour (I didn't time it) to restore it to 100%, the battery life is no big deal. (Relatives I know who have the older mi band 4 say it's a bit of hassle to remove the wrist strap and connect the charger.)
Update 2: For first 4 weeks of use, power level usually dropped to around 40-45% every 7 days. Recharge time to restore 100% took about 50 minutes each time.
Update 3: Owned for almost 5 weeks. To our surprise, the battery level was reporting very low 4% after last recharge only 6 days ago.
Update 4 (7 July 2021): It's been 8 days since it was last recharged. Level dropped to 41%. Seems to returned to behaving normally.
There are reports the mi band 6 doesn't track steps correctly. I read v1.0.1.36 firmware may fix this problem but don't quote me.
When showering, water droplets alter the screen; however, there is a setting that allows you to “lock the screen” and to unlock it you have to hold and swipe. So I usually put this setting on when I shower.
Overall, very content with my purchase.
Set up is v fiddly e.g. the QR code in the instruction booklet kept sending me to the wrong website - it took c 6 attempts for it to go to the right one. the fat instruction booklet is actually just a list of contents in a large number of languages - even something showing the basic screen display would be useful as the battery indicator here uses the same symbol as active minutes on a well know alternative. The watch is also likely to arrive with no charge (see other reviews) so this needs to be done to enable the initial set up.
Once you are up & running things get easier though it took me a couple of days to work my way around everything. be aware the default heart rate monitor setting is 10 mins which may give an odd initial impression though this is easily altered. Battery life seems good so far. The display is easy to read in bright light. The only unexpected quirk is its easy to accidentally alter the display if you tend to rest your hands on each other when say, sitting watching TV. I'll see how things go longer term, e.g. the provided strap seems a little delicate, but given the price I paid this is a good option.
Includes almost all of the main features from other main flagship brands.
Features are reliable and accurate.
Great battery life (around 6-9days not 14)
I compared this to my Fitbit sense & my friends samsung galaxy watch 4 & apples series 6 & surprisingly the Xiaomi mi band 6 stood up remarkably well against them.
Comes at a fraction of the cost of its competitors and it definitely doesn't sacrifice on performance, reliability or accuracy.
Now the downsides (which it has very few)
Screen display isn't the best. (It's not the worst I've seen either)
Mobile app sometimes wont connect the first time (simply uninstall and reinstall fixes this and only takes 1min to do).
Sleep tracking could be more detailed.
Mobile app still needs a little more work.
Battery takes more of a hit when using any advanced features (still lasts 6-9 days on a full charge which is still longer than my Fitbit sense and all the others!)
Overall I strongly and highly recommend this product! Especially if it's you're first smart/heath watch.
After reading many reviews on both, I decided to take a risk on the Xiaomi which is a brand I had never heard of before. However, I am so incredibly pleased with this watch! Its step counter, in my opinion is pretty accurate, the screen is clear and easy to see in any light. You can swipe between screens to see you step count, heart rate and weather for the day. The app is easy to use. It has many features that I haven't yet tried, however I tried the fitness workout to see the number of calories burnt, how long the exercise was, and how it was broken down into intensive, semi-intensive, light or relaxed!
IT still does everything a normal watch does including the date, day and time.
The watch strap is comfortable and easy to put on once you've got use to it. It easily linked to my old iPhone (still have the original SE), but couldn't say how easily it links with newer phones.
I absolutely love this and I would recommend to anyone thinking of buying a smart watch.
Apart from that there isn't much to complain about, for the price it gives you a lot, battery is really good, charging it doesn't feel like a chore. I basically do it once every 10 days for the duration of a shower, which completely charges it.
Sync with Google Fit needs a manual sync from time to time, but generally it works well to have your pulse and sleep data in Google Fit, not really using the Mi app which just has a weird but fuctional UI.
Same features as the mi band 5. Bigger screen. I think I’m charging it more than the mi 5. I seem to need a charge weekly, defo doesn’t last 2 weeks without a charge. Overall it’s an exceptionally good value for money tracker for exercise/steps/sleep.
The only positive thing about this model is that the charge situated better and it is easier to charge.
