Much better value than a fitbit in my opinion with a really good Oled screen.
I recommend this especially for the £25 I paid for it.
The sleep detection is absolutely atrocious. Apparently I haven't had any deep sleep in almost 2 months and I've only sleep about 2 hours a day? I could come home from the pub and be in a coma for 12 hours and the watch would pickup about 6 of them hours.
I use gadgetbridge because screw the CCP and their data mining apps but they decided this watch requires a lot of work to get an authentication key for the watch to work on third party apps. There was absolutely no reason for this other than trying to prevent users from using this device however they see fit. Disgusting
In fairness the watch does do a couple things right, but thats it, a couple.
The time is right and the battery lasts for a few days without needing a charge.
I actually bought this because it had an AMOLED display so I assumed it supported always on display, it does not. It doesn't even have oled watch faces. Speaking of watch faces, there is virtually no customisation or skins available on the official app so if you did get this watch for some ungodly reason I suggest going to "amazfitwatchfaces.com" and downloading their faces (requires Gadgetbridge)
The Xiaomi is excellent. It’s screen is lovely and bright and well laid out. Sadly there are a limited number of watch faces, so it can’t be endlessly customised, but if you don’t care about that kind of thing, it’s fine. I found a face I liked quite easily. The app itself has everything I needed, exercise tracking and HR monitoring. There are other metrics that it can assess too, like blood oxygen and sleep monitoring etc. It is not full of stuff most people have never heard of and unlike the Fitbit, you don’t have to pay extra to access other features of the watch.
The battery life appears to be good. I’ve had it on for three days so far and done two spin classes and the battery percentage is 71%. The app also tells you what your like battery consumption will be if you have certain things enabled/disabled.
Another thing I really like is the fact you can lock the screen! I’ve used wrist bands that monitor your sleep and connect to your phone, but which don’t have Lock Screen functionality. This means you wake up in the morning having made 20 phone calls overnight.
Happily, the Xiaomi DOES have Lock Screen functionality.
The only thing I do not like is the silly strap it comes with. It is designed in such a way that, in my opinion, means you need two free hands to fasten it! I have bought an aftermarket set of watch straps that fasten the traditional way! That is why this review is only 4 stars.
All in all, this exercise band is a bargain. Don’t go straight for a Fitbit or something more expensive until you’ve tried this. If you end up deciding you can’t be bothered to exercise any more, you’ve lost far less than you would have if you had bought something more expensive!
The display is clear - you can adjust the brightness and change the band display to a different design. There’s a DND setting if you don’t want notifications, and you can set a passcode so if you take it off it is locked - other people won’t be able to access it.
As for the main features, it monitors your heart rate and lets you know whether you’re relaxed or doing activity (it can show this too by monitoring stress levels). It also monitors blood oxygen saturation levels and tells you which percentage of risk you’re at. It monitors sleep and breathing, and has 30 different workout modes. It also tracks your menstrual cycle.
For extra features: you can set an alarm, use it as a button to take photos on your phone from your band, change the song you’re playing on your phone from your band, check the weather, and has a world clock so you can check the time in different areas of the world.
For anyone who doesn’t want to spend a lot of money for a fitness tracker, the Mi Band 6 is a perfect choice. I got it on Prime Day for £23, an absolute bargain.
The mobile app is free, and easy to use. It automatically syncs with your phone every time you open the app, and you have the option to manually add further data.
The sleep and pulse trackers are not as sensitive as fitbit or apple for example, but its still fairly accurate. The charge lasts for about a week (for me anyway, but I don't use the notifications function), and it's somewhat customisable with the option to purchase additional and inexpensive wrist straps, and a choice of screen background designs.
I've yet to discover all the gizmos on this band but there's plenty of them and should make for lot of fun discovering them all. Now here comes the downsides, The software which you download can be a bit confusing to say the least, but stick with it as it does work, however if your going to use it on a an Android phone a better option is to download Zepp Life which seems to work much better especially when pairing Bluetooth. The watch and software seem to be highly configurable with lots of different settings for different scenarios. At £20-£30 I'd say it's a worthwhile punt and so far I've been highly impressed, just wish the software was a little more intuitive. 5 stars all the way though purely because of it's incredible value!i
My only complaint is you have to measure in kilometres and kg. It's a bit of a pain as I need to use my phone to convert. I'd imagine it would be easy to fix this issue with an update. But perhaps they have no intent on doing this which would be a shame. Anyway it's a great watch, cheap, accurate and easy to customise. Minus 1 star for lack of miles and lb
The rubber strap with the watch only lasted 4 months
Well I'm blown away by it. It's leaps and bounds ahead of the v1 and more than meets all the functions I used on the Sammy watch. In fact it does more than my watch did, and the things the watch could do that this doesn't, well I didn't use those features or they didn't work so I'm good either way.
So sure, I cant pay by watch, but I get everything else, plus this one is actually waterproof, and if it isn't well its not 200quid lost, just 40 hopefully with a better warranty :)
The companion app is also good with a clear and attractive UI. I had no problems getting the watch set up and connected.
So, all good so far (very good considering the price) but the problem is heart rate and derived measurements such as sleep tracking. It's almost useless - even with the strap as tight as I can tolerate. Stationary readings vary greatly and when you're exercising it's just a load of noise. For me, this is a deal breaker.
Sometimes it can take a bit of fiddling to get working to recognise GPS but usually gets there in the end.
There alot of otherthings the phone does that I quite like. That isn't expect. Such as the camera connectivity, It can unlock the screen if set to do so. It can also control music, read texts. Alert me when someone is ringing(which is handy as my phone is always on silent). It can also read whats app messages and text messages. As a complete package for the price it's pretty amazing.
If you do get one ensure you get a screen protector cover, as it scratches easily. I have a chip on mine annoyingly
Pros - great value for money, has basics and more, the display has a great deal of customisation to suit the wearer
Cons - the sleep monitor is very basic, gives time laid down and time got up.. but nothing more detailed
Would be better if could change the display font size/colour.. there are backgrounds and standard templates you can download, but I find it difficult to see the white text without my reading glasses on
Overall extremely pleased with product, great value for money
