I was a little hesitant at first to get this drive, as a number of people stated it was noisy.After installing it (using Apricorn EZ-UP-UNIVERSAL EZ Upgrade Universal Notebook Hard Drive Upgrade Kit), I turned it on...and it booted up perfectly. With no noise.I originally had a Fujitsu 40GB that was bulging at the seams of my Lenovo laptop (one of those laptops that has that stupid backup partition, which I never used); I chose to manually set partitions, getting rid of that backup one, as I use an external hard drive for backups. After one week, it has worked like a charm. Absolutely no problems, very quiet.

A customer had brought me a laptop with a dead hard drive. Replaced their dead 5400 rpm drive with this one and they were happy with the results.I haven't been called back since the repair. Which is great news for me.The drive is price well and reliable. I give no hesitations about ordering more in the future.

Got this to use in my 360. Couldn't be easier to put in. Flash the firmware, use Xplorer360 to get my saved data and xbox emulator over then pop it into the old 20 case. Now I have more space than I'll ever need and it only cost 50 bucks compared to 150 or whatever M$ wanted. Super good buy!!

I bought this to replace my Dell laptop hard drive. I installed it without any problem and my laptop seems a lot faster since my original laptop hard drive was 5400. Boot up time is a lot faster and application startup faster as well. This hard drive is very quite and after of 6 months of use, I have had no problem. It is a great buy. Just make sure you have right tools to open you laptop and replace your hard drive

Not sure what to write because it was such an easy upgrade for my Sony PS3. It took less than 5 minutes to upgrade.The drive runs quiet, it seems faster in loading games, and I have higher capacity. I'm using The old 80gig harddrive from the PS3 as backup for my PC using just a silicone cover and SATA-to-USB cable.There are so many hard drives on Amazon and other tech sites. It seemed so difficult to choose, plus I was not sure if all 2.5" laptop drives would work with PS3. I chose this drive based on few key elements and went for most bang for the buck. 1) I like Western Digital drives, i've had no issues in the past 2) 250 gig seems like the sweet spot for price and practical space for PS3 use 3) I wanted 7,200 RPM speed for faster GT5 loads!!

Replacement for my original MacBook Pro drive. I'm a fan of WDC drives so no complaints from me-- works as advertised.I've purchased a variety of Western Digital internal and external drives over the last 6 years and they stand behind their products. I had a drive fail in my desktop PC and they replaced it (under warranty) with no problem. Haven't had an issue with the replacement drive or the others I've purchased.

I purchased this drive to replace the drive in my Dell 1501 laptop. From the start- Fits perfectly, plugs in properly, all screw mounting holes are in the right spot. It's faster, larger and seems to run with less errors. It is not any louder than the stock hard drive either. It's been a perfect replacement. Now 2 months later or so since I installed the drive and still running flawless, quick start-up, no lag when searching the hard drive and also noticed my laptop seems to run cooler on my lap! Still extremely pleased. Would buy another in a second!

I bought this hard drive to replace my Hitachi Travelstar 7200RPM SATA II drive in my Laptop. This drive has performed flawlessly for the last two months (I have not run an actual error-checking diagnosis). The drive seems as fast as my previous drive for both writing and reading. It is extremely quiet and gets hot (just like my last drive), perhaps that's why most laptops come with a 5400 RPM drive.Anyway, good experience thus far and, at the time of my purchase, I really couldn't find a better drive for the money (I was specifically looking for 16MB Cache on a 250GB drive; didn't want 320GB, otherwise there would have been a few more options).UPDATE 12/1/2011In July of this year (about a year after purchasing this hard drive), I put my laptop into semi-retirement. I did not run a diagnostics test on the hard drive, but I believe my laptop was beginning to show signs of a dying hard drive. Subjective, I know. It still works, but I no longer rely on it for day-to-day business. It comes out on short business and family trips only. It seems this hard drive is like most laptop drives I've purchased. Great for about a year or two.

I used this hard drive in my Xbox 360. Smooth install, zero problems, and fast shipping.Saved over $60 buying this instead of getting the official Microsoft hard drive. If you are planning on using this for your 360, you will need a little bit of PC knowledge to re-flash the firmware so the Xbox can recognize it.

Very nice drive for the money. easy to install in my Dell Latitude Laptop. previous drive was noisy especially during bootup. this drive is very quiet. i have transferred about 100 gb of data to and from drive without any issues.

Bought this to replace a Seagate hard drive that came with my Dell Latitude which had a spastic temperate range which drove me nuts. Popped this hard drive in, and *gasp* it actually idles at a certain temperature rather than rising one degree every 2 minutes! Down side is that it still idles around the low 40's in my laptop depending on where I set it down, but hey, as long as it actually relaxes when not in use, I'm OK with it. Plus it has more storage than the Seagate i had, and it preforms just as well if not better. Did i mention it's quite? So yea, if your thinking of getting a new laptop HDD, consider this one. I was also looking into a Samsung Spinpoint, so you might want to look into that too, but this drive is awesome as well.

I bought this drive to hack for my Xbox 360 and couldn't be happier. Everything worked like a charm and I have already filled it up quite a bit. While I had it plugged into the PC, I had to touch it to see if it was spinning because it's so quite. Of course in the Xbox it doesn't matter because the fans are so loud, but I imagine in a computer it must be quite. I will keep this review updated.UPDATE: 7 months later and the hard drive still works great. I've installed all my games, plus all my DLC content and am not even close to filling the drive up.

The 250GB hard drive died on my Xbox 360, I called Microsoft and they told me hard drives only have a 90 day warranty. They would sell me a new drive for $129 though. I bought this one for less than half of that and put it into the shell the dead drive was in. It works perfectly and is noticeably faster than the standard hard dives Microsoft uses. Games installed to it (like Reach) start up and load maps about a third faster. To get this drive to work with an Xbox 360 just Google for some tutorials on "hddhackr".

I bought this to replace my old 160GB 5400 RPM drive that decided to go out. At first I was concerned that the 7200 RPMs would make my laptop louder, but figured it might be worth the speed. It's not louder in the least. In fact, my laptop is quieter since my HDD is no longer ticking and grinding it's way to death. What else can I say? It's a hard drive. It does what it's supposed to do. It saves my 1's and 0's.

I bought one of these from Amazon on 4/4/2010 for a seldom used laptop that sits in on a stand in our living room. It died 1/4/2011. The "5 Year Limited Warranty" that was in the product description does not exist, since it was an "OEM" drive, Western Digital says it has NO WARRANTY.Beware of any item labeled "OEM", Amazon lists the "Retail" warranty period in error. Not cool!

7200 RPM didn't sound much faster, but it's very noticably quick, and it's not noisy at all. Time-consuming installation, if your old drive died, because ALL updates need to be downloaded and installed. It's a genuine WD drive. Not sure if SATA and SATA2 drives are interchangeable; might be something to consider.

I've used Western Digital drives for years, so I had no qualms about ordering this one when I decided to upgrade one of my HP laptop drives. The capacity is great, of course, and it's noticeably faster than the 5400rpm drive it replaced. But it's really...REALLY....loud.Some people don't have great hearing anyway, while others are good at tuning out background noise. But if you are at all like me and find it hard to ignore persistent, obnoxious noises, I'd recommend that you avoid this drive. From the second my laptop wakes up to when I put it back into sleep mode, this drive emits a constant "drive rattle." It's not a vibration, as I really can't feel it, but an internal rapid-fire ticking that just drives me nuts.Since I've already installed a new OS on it, re-installed most of my programs, and transferred my data, I hate the thought of switching again, so I'm going to give it a little more time. But I may yet have to try something else if I can't find a way to quiet this thing.

i purchased this drive from walmart ad about 10 days after the period of time i could return it, i started hearing loud grinding noises that are off and on. cant return it since its 55 days instead of 45. i hate walmart and i hate this drive. its like they planned it >:o
