I have been using a pair of WD Red drives in RAID 1 configuration in a Synology NAS for a month now, and they perform flawlessly. They are highly recommended for NAS applications.

If the 1 Million hour mean time before fail rating is accurate, then you really have to be crazy to buy the cheap drives rather than spend $50 more for a Red drive. looking for bargains is really not a smart activity when buying hard drives, when you consider how much data is at stake, and how much work is involved when a drive goes bad.

They are behaving exactly as advertised in my ReadyNAS Ultra 4 plus. They seem quieter than the older seagates I had in my ReadyNAS NV+

I ordered this drive as an internal data back up drive for my system. I like that it is a very quiet drive. It is almost as quiet as my SSD. My read/write speeds aren't near what the max is though (I am lucky to get half of the 145MB/s max), but much better than my USB 2.0 drives and other SATA drive.

Does the job well. I liked the first one so much got another one to make it a RAID 1 configuration. Will update the review after few more months of using it.

Purchased 5 of these for my NAS, all are running smooth and well in a RAID5 set up. Normal running temp looks to be 89-99F, great price for what you get. SATAIII, 2tb and runs perfectly in a NAS, no errors on any of the 5 drives so far and they have been running for a month and a half straight.

I put 2 of these into a ZyXEL NSA325 NAS device and configured as as Raid-1 array. They were easy to install and configure and so far, they seem to perform well. Copying files from my server to the NAS, I was getting sustained transfer rates of around 50 MB/s.

Bought these for my Synology DS213 a few months ago.So far, no issues. I like that these Red drives were designed for NAS.I'm using it on my DS213 primarily for TimeMachine backups, and streaming media to my TV.Recommended.

The product worked as advertised and was delivered on time. I bought it as a replacement drive in my ReadyNAS. It has been in place for about a month and no problems. However, for me the key to whether this is a good product or not is longevity. Does it work for a few years? We'll find out.

So far so good. A great addition to my PC that stays on permanently. Enough added space for my data. I really hope it gives the longevity I am expecting from its datasheet. Will give further review when enough time has passed.

I have 4 of these put on in my QNAP NAS, its not the fastest, but its quiet and has huge capacity. And so far so good, no issues. Hence the 5 stars

Just updating a few months later, and the drives are still functioning in my Synology NAS without any issue. They don't make too much noise when spun up, and access speed seems decent.

Took out the 250 GB drive HP provides with their Proliant microserver, installed WHS 2011. No problems whatsoever. The drive works well, and has successfully stored daily backups for 4 home computers.

These are a must have if you need reliable storage. They are intended for a RAID or NAS type box, but even as a stand alone drive they are good.I have it connected to a USB 3.0 doc, and these give me a consistent sequential speed of 148MB/s. That's very good for a sub 7200rpm drive.The drive is right next to me, and it's quiet. You would have to put your ear next to it to hear anything.The only problem is that these are on short supply, and I hope WD ramps up the volume.

Works about the same as the green drives in my NAS. No more, no less. Speed seems equal, but I am hoping error recovery is better.
