If you have the right SATA 6 GBs motherboard, this baby smokes with the 7200 RPM and decent cache. Great price and I can't imagine I'll use the space on this, so I don;t need the larger device.

I've been using WD for several years now. I ordered two of these and they both work as it should. They aren't the fastest drive around (details below) but they do the job. No complaints.As a side note, according to windows experience index this is the piece of hardware that gets the slowest score on my computer.Intel DP67DECore i7 2600 3.4GHz (7,6)Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz DDR3 8GB (7,8)EVGA Geforce 9800GTX+ 512MB (7,0 both aero and gaming score)WD caviar blue 1TB (5,9 lowest subscore)

I ordered this drive after my original drive crashed. It has worked great so far. It installed quickly and is a very quiet drive. I enjoy the additional capacity that it offers and the price was good too. I would buy another if I needed.

Ordered by overnight to fix an iMac that seemed to be losing it's mind. Just installed Lion and since then it had been acting very strange. Googled changing a hard drive on the IMac and found all kinds of help on the web. Youtube has several very good videos on changing the hard drive on the Mac so since I have repaired many PC's I decided to give it a shot. Had to open it up a second time because I missed hooking up one of the connections, but it was good after that. Booted up on Snow Leopard and formatted the drive, installed the OS and then updated to Lion. Restored the programs I need from the time machine and now its working great. The hard drive is fast and the price is excellent compared to Newegg. I really pays to be a prime customer on Amazon. I wanted this to round out my RAID 0 volume, built from two other drives that are the same model, as a separate scratch drive for speed. It works just fine.

Western Digital makes the best hard drives out there. I have used samsung, hitachi, seagate, and WD. WD has to be the best. I think they are the most reliable and have great read and write speeds. I def recommend this drive!.

I've read reviews of this drive saying it's quiet...I guess quietness is extremely subjective. To some people, this drive might be quiet, and if you've got a couple loud fans in your case you'll probably agree. But as someone who has spent a good amount of money on the quietest fans, power supplies, etc., the amount of noise this drive produces isn't acceptable. Don't recommend using it for any kind of HTPC setup or if you're looking for something quiet. 5200rpm drives will be significantly quieter, if you're willing to sacrifice some performance. 2.5" notebook drives are also an extremely attractive choice - returned this drive and got a 7200rpm 2.5" drive and I can hardly hear it (2.5" drives work in desktops, of course).Can't complain about anything else though, which is why it gets 2 stars. Great price, as-expected performance, WD provides a cloning tool which is extremely simple to use so if you're inexperienced with that kind of thing and need to clone it's as simple as clicking the "next" button (this is an OEM drive, it doesn't include software or cables, the software I'm referring to is available to download on WD's site). Just isn't the drive for me.

The hard drive arrived promptly in a very well packaged box. It was as expected OEM packaging not any screws nor cables. Works great with my custum build. And the speed is great it seems yhat it will work forever!!!!!!!!

I was worried that the WD drive would make noise because this computer is in my bedroom and my favorite thing about it is that it is completely silent. It didn't.I ran the computer several days with the cover off as I switched the SATA leads back and forth as I looked for settings and data on the old drive to move to the new drive. This new WD is fast and quiet. I like it.Packaging was appropriate. Protected the drive but was easy to open and not wasteful.The only suggestion that I would make would be that Amazon could put a note that folks buying a new SATA data cable may need a new power adapter to connect from a conventional power supply plug to a SATA drive. I had to make an unexpected trip to Radio Shack for that adapter.No info yet on durability since it is only two weeks old at this writing.

This hard drive arrived on time and works great. This drive was ment to clone an older drive and it has worked flawlessly. Although the price is a little high.4/5 stars simply because of the price. It would get 5 if it was cheaper.

Had this hard drive for a month or so now, works great, very easy to install- heres to hoping it lasts! Newegg had it a few dollars cheaper I think but I have prime for free two day shipping.

Received withing 3 days of order, and installed in my PC within one hour of opening the panel and attaching the cables. I used ACRONIS Migrate Easy (use the Free Trial Version- good for 15 days) to clone the original drive to this new one. Took approximately 25 minutes total. Works great

The hard drive itself is complete however there is no paper work and when registering the HDD I found out that I have no warranty because this drive was to be installed in a complete system not sold alone. I just hope it doesn't break.

I installed this hard drive about a month ago and I have had no problems with it at all. Its quiet and fast.I have not experienced any of the issues that some other buyers have. I recommend this product. I hope it doesn"t suddenly go rogue after I write thus glowing review.

Will be buying another.Plug and play was simple once i figured out I had to add a jumper to make it backwards compatible with a SATA 1.. remember to buy a jumper if that's your plan.

I AM USING THIS DRIVE AS A SECOND HARD DRIVE IN MY SYSTEM TILL I CAN BE CERTAIN IT WILL NOT CRASH. AMAZON HAS ISSUED SOME CAN OF WARNING ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS DRIVE. I HAVE HAD IT IN MY SYSTEM ABOUT THREE WEEKS SO FAR SO GOOD. IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON USING THIS DRIVE AS YOUR MAIN DRIVE I AM NOT SURE I WOULD DO THAT. HOPE THIS HELPS.

I've already had a Western Digital (500 GB) HDD installed in my PC (well it wasn't the same model but the same brand and capacity)All I can say is the item is very good from a very good company.Now between the 2 Hard drives in my desktop I have 1TB of space.Western Digital is a very good brand and if you were to say go to Staples to buy this Hard drive I doubt you would pay less than $70 for it.The hard drive is fast (for the price) and reliable.Also even if you've never installed a hard drive in your PC before it isn't rocket science and it is well worth it.So i would recommend this to anyone who's running out of space and who's other hard drive is about to croak.Overall I am very satisfied with this product and the price (i paid only $37 i believe) , the price is outstanding!5 years ago this would've cost you $400 or more.Anyway like I said ,if you have ANY doubts about getting this item - DON'T!You will not be disappointed ! ! !

I'm overall happy with this drive. Western Digital drives typically last a long time for me as long as they have decent cooling. I've only used this particular one for a week. As expected, no problems. Am reviewing it now because it'll probably be quiet a few years before it fails. I've a touch of buyers remorse in that the 1TB drives are starting to really drop in price now. I think they're the best bang for buck at the moment. Such is life. At least it's quiet. I'm typing this review on the very quiet office desktop this drive went into. I can hear crickets outside and a computer in a different room, but can't hear this little PC two feet away. Bought this for a computer I am rebuilding for my neighbor, comes with just the bare minimums: A Hard Drive. Works as expected with just plugging it into the computer, installed Windows XP Media Center 2005.The hard drive comes with a 3 Year Warranty, I've only had to go though Western Digital's warranty once (Not with this drive), and they were very good about it, very fast turn around time in the event of a drive failure. I've used them from servers, to a regular PC - Never had a single issue with their products.It features very quiet operation on this model, and fast SATA operation. Perfect for a reliable value hard drive, still capable of fast speeds too.The Amazon packaging was perfect, Just break the tape off the box, then peel the anti-static bag top off, remove drive, then install. No need for some box cutter or any other annoying plastics.

This drive was way cheaper than what was available on newegg, shipping was super fast especially with prime 2 day. I've been running it for about a month now and have had no problems. Works great!

Ranked as the mid performance hard drive in the Caviar family (Green, Blue, Black,), this hard drive does a good job providing good value performance and hard disk storage.Simple to install, remains relatively cool, is very dependable, and has fared well when storing music, movies, documents, and gaming files. Thus far, I'm very pleased with the performance. I've been using this for about 7 months now without any hiccups.A solid companion/additional hard disk drive. Personally, I don't mind installing windows on this hard drive. Not the fastest, but definitely dependable and has decent speed and cache.
