Просто отстойная модель! Работаю техником. Столкнулся с тем, что клиенты приносят гарантийные винты этой марки, с жалобами, что упала ОС, при тестировании выясняется, что информация пропадает безвозвратно!!!...

I have purchased several used Western Digital HD's, both IDE and SATA, and haven't had a problem yet. Of course, I started purchasing them after one of my towers had the click of death and the WD HD was fried. However, I did replace the main drive with this one (though I only paid about 35 bucks with free shipping) but I'm using the used ones for several reasons. The dead computer and my daily use one are both Dell and both were getting on in years but, again, I'm too cheap to even buy a new computer now because I don't want Windows 8 or all the stuff I had to remove from my wife's new one we purchased last year. Both the Dells were running on XP and that was pretty much a trouble-free OS for us. I did get a used 40GB WD HD on eBay that had a fresh install of XP Pro so I cloned it to this drive using Acronis True Image 2009 and it was a snap and works perfectly... plus I now have a backup of the OS should I ever need it. The HD on my daily use PC was starting to click so I pulled it, did a fresh install of XP Home on a used drive and put it in and it's also working fine. I also added a used drive as a second drive to just save files to as a backup. I have yet another used WD HD in a Connectland external enclosure to back up whatever I need... and yes, after you lose an HD you tend to go overboard in backing up stuff.My old PC was loaded with only what I need to stream movies or to watch something off an Internet and I added a WiFi card. It has now replaced a nice laptop that sat in the TV room to be used rarely and it was like getting a new computer. All-in-all I'm pretty happy with Western Digital and for about 10 bucks each I can't complain about the price for used. Formatting them was easy and installing was also a breeze. If you're not one for used items then pay some more for new but I'm not all that confident that these older ones might not outlive some new ones. They get 5-stars and the only downside is that they're 80GB but since I have two installed and one for backup the size hasn't been an issue for me. If I had newer towers I'd likely be going with new ones. Lastly, be sure to search carefully on the model numbers or you may be thinking it's a SATA and it's really an IDE because they very slightly in the numbers. As an example, the WD800JD is SATA and the WD800JB or the WD800BB are IDE. I have tried using the converters but my Dells don't read the HD when I do so.

Its a WD Blue drive, so I expected it to be a little noisy, but it is nearly dead silent. The fan in the case makes more noise in low speed mode than this drive does!Its pretty fast, mostly because of its 7200 rpm and 8 MB Cache. Its in a Lenovo desktop w/8Gig memory and 3.12Ghz Core 2 Duo processor so it can be pushed pretty hard while rendering videos or playing back HD video.It does not run as cool as the WD green drives I have. This one typically is running about 98* F, where the green drives run around 86*F in an identical Lenovo Desktop.Also ran diagnostics on the SMART data right out of the box. It showed 100% perfect. No sector reallocations, no read errors, no spin up time errors. I have bought other brands that came with these errors right out of the box and were considered "good" drives.Its a good solid drive for the price. Uses a little more power and runs a little hotter than the green drives, but the blue drives generally have a longer life span.

OK, installed this in a business almost a year ago and it has not failed so guess it was a good purchase:)Update (26FEB13): Well, bought two and the first one lasted ten months and has died in month 11. Second one (backup) is now installed. Was unavailable so my friend paid almost $500 for a service tech to come out and install/setup the raid. Unfortunately have to use this exact drive for replacements. Hope this second one is more dependable. One of the originals is going on three years. Will update if WD does not replace without a fight.

I have an old dell poweredge server with a raid array, apparently these are the same drives used in the cases, way cheaper to order these than purchase through dell if your service agreement is expred!

Of course, as soon as the hardware guarantee from Dell (Optiplex 755) ran out to the week one hard-drive in the Raid 1 array failed. Bought one last November. Replacement was nail-biting, but worked okay. Can't tell you how nice it was to see the system report normal after a couple of hours.And then today the other Raid 1 HD failed.Let me see, they were bought, new with the Dell unit, in 2010 and failed within 1 years 2 weeks and 1 year 10 weeks.Something tells me Western Digital is not as reliable as it once was.The other issue I have is that I can only replace the failed unit with one the same size. Why not larger? Western (called them) said do not try this. Okay... just hope they have thousands of these smaller units in stock... Dell tells me they get these sorts of calls every hour.Update: The new HD arrived and following Intel's instructions, install and rebuild RAID was a piece of cake. However, in reading the old HD (also the same size model from Western Digital) it was made in Thailand. The Dell machine it was on, was new in Oct. 2010... and now both Dell-installed Western Digital drives have failed. Total usage on each HD was only 83GB of the 160GB.I wonder what Western Digital has to say?

This is a good fast hard drive that comes brand new. Not so easy to find these anymore. I upgraded from my original 10 year old Maxtor 60 GB to this WD 160 GB for my Windows XP Pro system drive. My Maxtor was an excellent fast drive, which I have now installed in a Windows 98SE machine as a data drive, and this replacement Western Digital, is just as fast and even quieter.

It only took me 10 hours to figure out how to format and add Win7 to this hard drive, talk about frustration. The internet is filled with horror stories about this product and I can see why. I will avoid Western Digital in the future when thinking of buying a hard drive.It works, its quiet, hope it will last a few years.

We purchased 250 new HP computers which all shipped with this drive. From week one we had drives failing regularly. After 1 year over 35% of the drives have failed. HP has replaced all of them (with Seagate drives) under warranty but that doesn't recover the occasional data files that users have stored on their local hard drive with no backup. When it goes bad you will hear the drive head armature actuating several times and then it gives up. For one particularly user I actually dissembled the bad drive and a good drive and swapped out the armature. This allowed the drive to work long enough to get to all the user's data.

Ordered two WD 160GB SATA HDDs and received two packages MARKED as such but containing 80GB HDDs. Too bad I didn't notice until it came time to install the drives.Something is seriously wrong with Amazon's vendor(s) when it comes to HDDs. I previously purchased 15 Seagate 80GB IDE HDDs and roughly 50% of the lot actually worked. Of course it was way too late to return them.In both cases, I ordered new drives, not refurbished.Unfortunately I'm concluding that Amazon Electronics is like Walmart Electronics; an oxymoron.

I took a chance, and I got this for my OS drive. It's not good when the drive only lasted 8 months. Total waste of money. It randomly freezes, requiring a reset with the pc power switch. I moved over to an SSD drive, which is what I should have done in the first place. Luckily this drive didn't lock up while imaging. If your data is important, I would buy something a little more expensive than this. You get what you pay for.

Western Digital is my preferred HD but this model and probably most others are not compatible with Cox Cable DVR. This is probably not WD fault but it is a consideration. I will update if I can contact the manufacturer of cable box. Cox is totally unwilling to help. I wish I could rate Cox here instead of Wester Digital.

I installed this hdd in a new build. On the second day of operation I started getting a s.m.a.r.t. warning that the drive was dying. I ran down to Wal-mart and picked up an external drive for backup just in case. Last night just as I finished a multiple page essay for a graduate class it failed completely. Now my system is down, I can't access my back-up material until I get a new drive for the box and I have to rewrite the paper for my class with a 5% grade reduction due to being late. Amazon is being great about sending a replacement hdd, but my opinion of WD is not as good as it was this time yesterday. At least I do have a backup!

While I didn't purchase these drives from Amazon, I thought I would pass along my experience in the event it helps others make an informed decision. Our company recently performed a tech refresh on a little under 1000 computers. About half of the new computers have this Western Digital hard drive, the other half have a Seagate Barracuda 160 GB SATA drive. Within a month of the new computers being deployed, we are getting an average of 3 failed hard drives a week - all are the Western Digital 160 GB model # WD1600AAJS. The numbers seem too great to be the expected "infant mortality rate" for new hardware one might expect from +/- 500 new computers. All failures are being quickly replaced by the manufacturer since they are under warranty, but the amount of dead hard drives showing up on a regular basis has made me very wary of this model. BTW, no failed Seagate drives have been reported thus far.

The biggest killer of hard drives is heat. If there is no air flow around the drive, the drive risks certain failure. That said, I have 2 of these running 24/7 in a home-theater PC in a raid-0 array. They are fast and quiet. They have been running continuously for over a year, and no hiccups. 160GB is small by today's standards, but the beauty of this design is that the drive is spinning just one single platter. If you were to go to the 320 GB or larger drive, then you will have multiple platters spinning inside the enclosure, resulting in higher heat and noise.

I had 3 die in the span of one calendar year. As a teacher, all I do is internet, word processing, Powerpoints and download a little music here & there. Yes, the hard drives were replaced by WD under warranty, but I spent $500 in PC repairs & data recovery in 2007. WD sends you a reconditioned hard drive and not a new one. I will never buy WD again and their QC department should be ashamed of themselves. I recommend Seagate.
