This drive arrived in good shape and in good time. I must applaud Western Digital's web site for providing clear instruction and "easy to use" software for the installation.

Description a bit confusing to me. Looks like an IDE and runs in my old IDE computer. Don't see any SATA connections on the drive.

i should have listened to previous reviewers and skip buying this drive. i was designed to hard-core geek to install these things. no paper instructions, just a plain drive delivered. i had to referred to online instructions and my personal computer's help menu to figure the format and partitions in order to prepare the drive. in short, i you have never upgraded a computer before, don't try this one, try one with a kit and instructions somewhere else.

There are very little options for PATA / ATA hard drives which are still brand new at a decent price. This is an excellent option to replace the failed hard drives of aging computers. I replaced a client's main hard drive with this after it failed from overheating/dust on his old XP machine. Computer runs like new/as expected. No problems.

Just plugged this little baby in and cloned from an older drive and off it went as expected. I love when things work.The access time on this drive is better then the old drive it replaced.

This drive has a PATA / IDE interface which was the standard for PC hard drives several years ago. The drive is furnished bare, without cables or mounting hardware. Jumper positions are clearly labeled. The drive runs warm, as do most 7200 rpm drives, but is quiet and has been functioning flawlessly in an older AMD system under Win XP (for approximately 1 month so far).The drive packaging was minimalist but effective. The sealed antistatic bag containing the drive was fitted into a cardboard cradle conforming to the interior of the shipping carton, an arrangement which provides some buffer from moderate-g impacts and other damage which can occur during shipping. This would probably not provide sufficient protection in cases of extreme handling abuse.

Hard drive SMART test data showed that the drive I received is in decent shape, but already had hours of use on it. Based on the Date Code, the hard drive is already out of warrantee, so I hope it lasts.

The drive was well packaged, and the packaging provided a good place to store the drive that is to be replaced. Using WD Acronis True Image, the new drive was initiated and cloned to replace an older 9 year old WD drive that began to make some noise and sometimes didn't boot. Set the jumper (came with one)and installed, and it booted right up to the OS. Thank goodness for WD and Acronis, and making good drives like this and the old one that got daily use for almost 10 years. I chose the 320gb thinking that it may be a newer run of these drives, and indeed the date is Jul 2012.

idee hard drives are getting harder to find localy for a good price. SATA or taking over the market yet oler computers still run off these bad boys so it was nice to find one for a great pice.

This hard drive installed easily in my older PCI/EIDE HP desktop PC, accepted the reinstall of the Windows XP Home Edition operating system without any problems, and runs quietly.

Bought this some time ago as a secondary drive. Installed, Immediately worked; no problems. Runs just as well as any other decent drive and was a pretty good bargain buy. Shipped quickly and safely ;)

Since I refused to abondon my older Dell desk top I chose to upgrade the hard drive. The WD 320 has been great. Easy to install and setup. Would recommend to others.

I thought this PATA would work in an Older CyberPower Desktop (probably 02 or 03)that had an EIDE Hard Drive (had issues with a virus and bad sectors). Couldn't get XP to work properly, however my son's 06 Gateway which is a little newer (running XP also) accepted it and everything is working fine. Put his 200GB in mine. Re-Loaded XP clean and updated both to Service Pack 3. Took more work than I imagined (swapping hardware, multiple restarts, lots of updates) but I am finally happy that I was able to use it (for nearly $100 it better work). So I got the 200GB and his has the new Western Digital 320. All's good in computer land.

I received this drive in 2 days, but it was a paperweight. Poor packaging, the drive wasn't detected by my install CD and it was battered in the box. Not a recommended product.

Did Not Work,I Bought an Adapter to Use it in a Sata Computer, and it still didnt detect in the Computer. I Was on the Phone With Dell For Four Hours trying To troubleshoot it before they finally told me it was a defect.

Received item and it had a defect that caused OS to crash one one computer. Tried on several other computers and it locked up the OS (WINXP & WIN 7). Company was efficient and issued a refund for the item. Was disappointed as my experience with Western Digital has been good for over 10yrs.
