I bought two of these to put into a NAS box. They are doing quite well in the box. No issues so far. The NAS box is not too warm to the touch, so they don't seem to run hot. I don't have anything to test speeds, but I am pleased with how quickly I can retrieve files from the box. I have all of my music stored on it, and there isn't any lag while playing songs.

I bought this drive to go in a custom built home server installation that utilized an E-series AMD quad core. Everything runs cool and quiet and I have no problems with reponses times or transfer speeds for accessing files from our desktops, laptop and streaming media server. I have two others that are installed in removable drive cases for system backup and all have been extremely reliabable.

I was reading and reading for a week for the most QUIET HDD cause it's my main concern for storage HDD.I'm used to buy Seagate HDDs but lately I noticed they become bit noisy after sometime, and those clicking sounds from time to time.So, I decided to buy this after I read specs, and still I was worried about the noise, and using a WD.Today I got, and installed, and it's QUIET like it's not even breathing, performance is amazing, well I use it as storage HDD and I don't even look for a faster HDD.I recommend this HDD, and Good Job WD.

Good price for a 1TB drive. I bought this just to swap out another 1TB Green drive that had fried in my WD network storage device. Fortunately it's in RAID1 configuration. Popped this in and it re-built the array in a couple of hours, and we're on our way. I really could be imagining things but it seems a lot faster after the new drive is in. That may be more on account of the old failing drive on its way out for several months, than any difference with the new drive. But after a couple of weeks it's humming along.

Had it for about 2 months, so far so good. Runs fast and quiet inside my Desktop PC.HDTach benchmark puts it at an average of ~ 115 MB/s read speed, which is very good for a Green drive (5400 RPM).This is a newer Caviar Green drive (EZRX not EARX), which may explain the higher speed.Pros:-Fast-Quiet-Cool-SATA III interface for extra RAID bandwidth-Decent price (after flooding)Cons:-Thailand flooding drove the hard drive prices up across the board; this one is no exceptionStill recommend Western Digital after buying their drives for a decade (from their IDE drives to their newest Caviar Black SATA III drives).
