I have never had any issues with my WD Green drives and have used them for a recent WHS 2011 build. I have seven internal WD Green drives and they all work without issue. I planned on purchasing several additional drives for backing up my server but ever since the flodding in Thiland the prices has more than doubled.Guess I will have to wait until the supply channel is oncreased again and the prices drop to a more respectable price. I can't justify the price of these drives knowing what I previously paid.

Not too much to say about this.I received it timely.It has been in my SavedItems list for a long time now waiting for it to dip below $200.It is a very cheap yet reliable 5400 rpm drive that is perfect for recording/watching tv on my htdvI already have four 2TB versions of these and have not had any problems with them.I installed it without any problems in my Dell 9100 and it is working well.

I currently have 13 of the 2TB models, and 8 of the 3TB models in my home server. Absolutely no problems from any of them. I do full read/writes to the entire drive for error checking, and then check SMART results before using. 50TB of data and 0 bad/pending sectors is impressive.I'm not sure how so many people are claiming they got 2+ bad drives in a row. It has to be user error or they were extremely unlucky. My suggestion is to make sure you are ordering from Amazon and not 3rd parties who tend to package hard drives incorrectly.

A few months ago I bought a 2TB WD Black SATA III drive for $149.I cannot believe the high prices now, this is what I paid for this drive, I needed RAID so I bought 2.I must admit it is a little slower than the Black but it works pretty good and doesn't get as hot.I will buy the Black again but not for that amount of money, but I might buy the Blue in front of the green!

For a storage drive (I use it for my downloads and backups), this is a very good drive. Haven't had any issues with previous WD products in terms of drive failure, so that's a good sign. This probably isn't the fastest in terms of data transfer rate, but unless you need to copy hundreds of gigabytes of data, this really isn't a problem. Fast installation and initialization.

Some reviews talked about compatibility problems so I checked the Netgear forum for these Caviar drives working with their Ready NAS Ultra 2 plus and looked ok. Installation, formatting, and configurations were straightforward. The two RAID 1 drives spin up from power-down in about five seconds which is fine considering the power savings I get, and backup/other applications work with this delay fine. Highly recommend the drives but make sure your devices/environment are certified with these drives.

I backed up the old drive, turned off the computer, removed the old drive and installed this one. Since I was doing an OS upgrade, I restarted with a boot from the OS DVD, and voila, I'm in business with a Windows 7 OS. Easy. The computer immediately recognized the drive, which operates quietly. I'm not geeky enough to test drive speed, but it all works fine.

This 3TB drive is not compatible with Windows XP SP3, It shows up as about 750G due to OS addressing issues (thank you microsoft), not the fault of the drive. Upon further research it looks like all 3TB drives will have this problem.

This WD20EARX drive is GREAT! I have a couple dozen of the WD20EARS (SATA II) drives in several server boxes, and they all work fine, except that their average throughput is about 55 MB/sec. This WDF20EARX SATA III drive averages at least 80 MB/sec, and is even much faster than that for smaller files. I would heartily recommend this drive to anyone who is looking for cheap, reliable and FAST data transfer.
