This monitor has taken some flack for the way it sounds, so I will review this first. As far as sound goes, the built-in speakers are not very nice sounding from what I tried of them, although this was without the included software which is intended to improve their sound output. However, fitting amazing speakers in such a tight place as this really thin monitor is not possible due to the reality of sound production requiring a certain speaker size to produce various frequencies due to simple physics of vibration creation. If you want good sound though, all you have to do is buy a nice, inexpensive pair of computer speakers such as Logitech S220 2.1 Speaker System with Subwoofer and plug them into the sound output on the back of the monitor and it will route all of the sound input from the HDMI into them, which is quite nice.That said, keep in mind that first and foremost you are purchasing an LCD monitor. Its true purpose is to display your desktop, images, videos and etc from your computer (or your Xbox 360, PS3, Blu-Ray player and etc), not to play sound. In that realm, as far as 24" monitors go from what I have seen and used, this is simply the best I have seen when compared to displays from vendors such as ASUS and Apple. The colours are extremely vivid and the viewing angles are very nice (can see movies/games from the extreme sides). The back-lighting is perfectly balanced, non-bleeding and it is great for watching HD movies as well as playing games or doing standard web browsing. It is also extremely thin and light despite being 24".In short, if you are considering buying this monitor; do.

The description reads "use it as a computer monitor or connect it to a game console, cable/satellite box, or Blu-Ray® DVD player." I bought is for my new Sony DVD Sony DVP-SR500H 1080p Upscaling DVD Player for the HDMI connection. The sound was almost inaudible at max setting. Very disappointed and zero printed instructions for use with a DVD player. After three weary phone calls to their tech people I realize THEY had no idea how to make it work with a DVD player. (Just computers!) I eventually figured out the monitor had a mini-audio output. Voila! With earphones I enjoyed my first movie on this monitor. Next day I hooked up (separately powered) speakers with the mini-audio output. No help from Viewsonic, thank you. Four-star review for the monitor video quality. Poor product documentation unless you use the CD on your computer!!

The product looks great, but beware there is no DVI port which I didn't realize until we tried to connect to our PC.

I have used Viewsonic monitors for years. I have bought many different brands of monitors, but Viewsonic has been the best. I bought 3 Viewsonic monitors this year. I just purchased 2 of these 27" monitors from Amazon.com. My oldest Viewsonic is a 15" that is about 10 years old. It's still working fine. I called Viewsonic tech support this week for a configuration problem. The problem was not with the monitor but with my understanding. From the time I dialed the 800 number till I was talking to a real person who spoke perfect English was less than 5 minutes. This lady understood my question and gave me the solution in about 2 minutes. She was very professional and knowledgeable. When I buy another monitor, Viewsonic will be my first choice!

I recently purchased an LG2431 LED monitor and constantly felt like it was lacking. I exchanged it for the ViewSonic VX2453mh which happens to be at the same exact price. What a difference. The ViewSonic is a FAR superior monitor in Black level, color depth, clarity, brightness etc. Even simple things like the sturdiness of the base is much better. The LG constantly wiggled as I typed... The ViewSonic VX2453mh still has some vibration, but it's not nearly as bad... And what should I expect, I'm not exactly breaking the bank on this thing.Pros: Once Calibrated it is awesome! Brightness, color, clarity, and the antiglare screen are GREAT.Cons: 1. It takes some time to calibrate. Don't expect it to be great out of the box, you will be disappointed. 2. There is NO DVI input: I have a 4 year old MBP so I had to dig up the DVI to VGA converter and plug that in. 3. The controls aren't super intuitive. 4. Purely cosmetic, but there's alot of extra 'stuff' on the front of the monitor saying what it is ALL the time i.e. LED, HDMI, 1080p Full HD...But, as for what a monitor is supposed to do... Display stuff... This thing rocks. I have a much more expensive (but older) Dell monitor at work and I prefer this one.I don't know why there are two HDMI's and no DVI which is why this isn't a five star rating. Apparently it is MY fault my 'ancient' 2007 Macbook Pro failed to come with an HDMI port. Weird.Anyway, for around two hundo this thing is a strong buy.

Monitor is very thin and lightSpeakers are very low at max settings. Not just low, but very low; they could have done much better with the speakersIt has a PC and an AV setting; it's default AV, so go into input on the monitor and change it from AV to PC and everything will work great for youI bought 2 and they work great (I have 3 24" monitors - my 3rd is a Samsung that I had previous to these 2 new ones)

For $180 this really works very well. Although the built in speaker is trash but I dint put any expectation on it at the 1st place. The 1080p screen is beautiful, colors look vibrant, bright enough for gaming, watching movie etc (note that the brightness is preset at 100%). 2 HDMI ports allow the monitor to be connected to my laptop and a console at the same time. There's a slight light bleeding at the right bottom corner but it is not noticeable unless you watch it really closely at black screen (the black is really black on this display which is nice).The build quality may not be the best but for the money, this display really worth getting.

I Was SHOCKED at how good it looks with my Xbox 360 on HDMI if you want to play XBOX on a monitor look no further,I Really love it i got it as a christmas gift and the quality is at 100%. i watched movies, surfed the web and played Battlefield 3 With no problems.Amazing Clarity,_________________________________________________________________Pros-PictureHDMI ClaritySlim easy to MoveContrast RatioMenu SimplicityCons-Audio (But that is not a surprise coming from a thin monitor)I Didnt get Two of this Lovely Machine_________________________________________________________________I Would Recommend this to anyone that is thinking of playing games.

I bought this product because I needed a monitor with under 5ms response time with mounting option. The monitor display has a very good quality for gaming. I do not recommend buying it if you need it for professional use (photo editing, interior design, etc.). The colors on the display are a little bit lame. I found color issues with White, Blue and Green. But again, this is perfectly acceptable for this kind of product at this price range.Problem: This is why I chopped 2 stars off. The PDF manual of this product had a wall mounting procedure in its index. After arrival, I noticed that the mounting option (VESA in my case) in the index led to a different subject and the mounting subject was M.I.A. Then I discovered in forums that this product cannot be mounted without tampering (altering) the product's frame. So I returned it.AMAZON: For this kind of products, please consider to include in the technical specs a subject specifying its capability of being mounted. I found that other products have the same misleading error.

I was on the verge of returning this monitor. The monitor was brilliant when connected with a VGA cable - vivid colors, text very sharp and in focus.But with an HDMI cable, the picture was terrible - washed out, blurry text, black bars around the picture. This seemed to be the case with two different notebook computers - both of which had ATI Radeon video cards.I made two calls to Viewsonic tech support and the second person actually recommended that I return the monitor for an exchange or refund!Finally, thanks to lots of experimentation and reading through the user reviews and comments here, I was able to fix the problem:1) On the monitor itself, press (1) for the menu > Input Select > and make sure that your HDMI input is set to PC and not to AV.2) On your computer, open up the ATI Catalyst Control Center. Find your display in the menu. It may show up as DTV (HDMI). With a text window open on the monitor, adjust the Underscan / Overscan until the text suddenly pops into sharp focus. For me, this was all the way at an Overscan of 0%.Now that I made this change, the quality is outstanding.

The current monitor for my MAC mini failed. The VA2231WM-LED was reasonably priced and worked great with my Apple Mac Mini. You do have to get a transition connector so the plug on the monitor works with the mini. They are cheap and I picked one up online here.

I ignored the "bad sound" warnings from the reviewers but it was simply unacceptable. I will return it now. If you don`t care about the sound, the image is not all that great also, but this is a cheap monitor. good for the price

If you are looking for an 24" LED monitor that is mainly for watching movies, this is the one. I am just looking for a simple computer monitor. The TV like capability cause some obstacles for me.Pros:P1) It has 2 modes: AV and PC. I think the AV mode is for TV. The PC mode is for computer monitor.P2) Bright, high contrast, color is great. Support dynamic contrast, may be a great feature for watching a movie.Cons:C1) The black color isn't as black as I like. When viewing photos, it shows a little of white washed. This only happens if I plug a HDMI to HDMI port directly. If I use DVI to HDMI cable, then the monitor show true black. I buy this monitor for a notebook which only has HDMI port, not DVI port, therefore gray color black issue remains.C2) The first time it starts, the AV (TV) mode is used, thus the screen doesn't show the resolution correctly. I had to change the mode from AV to PC to correct the display.C3) The HDMI ports are not firm. When I use a DVI to HDMI cable, I have to adjust the connection to make the it work.C4) The dynamic contrast changes the contrast depends on the view contents. For example, a mostly white content like the Google home page, the contrast is high. When viewing a dark photo, low contrast is used.I don't think I get a lemon because it shows true black when I plug in a DVI to HDMI. I guess the monitor isn't suitable for my use. I am thinking of retuning it.

I connected this monitor via HDMI to a Windows 7 PC. This is an excellent monitor. The image is crisp, and the brightness is good. The speakers on the other hand, are just average. The design and quality are great.

I bought this monitor with some high hopes. It would be my first flat panel monitor and it would be the first and highest definition monitor I own. What I can say about this monitor are only great things so far. The picture and colors are very vibrant and clear. Video looked very good (even if it wasn't recorded at the highest quality).Very easy to connect with the DVI-D and VGA ports. It took me about a minute to get everything set up.Widescreen-but thats what i prefer.Not much else to say. It was a very good buy and would possibly get a second for a dual-monitor setup.

I wanted to connect this monitor to my iMac through the mini display port using the HDMI. The resolution was dismal on this monitor. Unbelievably poor. A few other issues:1) The connections in the back are really inelegant, with plugs sticking straight out the middle back of the monitor2) No way to raise or lower the monitor height. It is fixed.3) No way to tilt the monitor 90 degrees.4) The way the stand is constructed, the monitor just takes up a lot of room.I would recommend Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24-in Widescreen IPS High Performance Monitor (1920 x 1200) with DVI-D With HDCP DisplayPort VGA instead as it is a similar price, better resolution and just a wee bit smaller. I am much happier with this monitor.

The monitor has great colour, clear picture, and is nice and thin. It also, much to my surprise, has incredible sound quality, something I didn't expect. I am very glad I chose it over it's competitors, especially since I mainly bought it because there is no mercury in it - I am trying very hard to think about the environment in my choices, and I am glad I made this choice.

This monitor was ordered as a replacement for existing monitors on a particular system that also has a Blue-ray player hooked to it. Most existing LCD monitors even if an adapter is used do not have the ability to display HDMI. This one does, and does it quite nicely as well.Excellent value for the price.

I recently received my second Viewsonic 24 inch LED monitor, and I am very pleased. I liked my first one so much, I bought another. When I first booted my computer with one of these monitors, the top, bottom and sides were not visible. I had to go into setup mode for the HDMI input and change the mode to PC mode. After that, the monitor has been incredible. The picture is very bright and very sharp. Much sharper than my LCD monitors from another manufacturer. An added bonus is that this monitor does not emit any perceived heat. My LCD monitors are very warm to the touch at the top frame of the monitor. The LED monitor feels like it is about room temperature at the same spot. It comes with several cables, none of which I was able to use. I bought a DVI to HDMI cable to use with this monitor. It comes with a HDMI to HDMI cable, and a VGA to VGA cable. My video card is almost a year old, and it only has DVI outputs, so if you are in the same position, you'll need to order a DVI to HDMI cable. Also, the power input is from the output of a small power transformer. The power cable does not plug directly into the monitor like most of my other monitors. This is a great monitor, especially for the price.

Great Monitor, crystal clear quality, I was using two monitors, with this monitor you only need one. The speaker quality is adequate. I recommend the monitor. Easy, out of the box set-up.

I was replacing my old VX2025wm as I wanted to have an HDMI connection from my new Dell XPS. I started by speaking with the Support staff at Viewsonic, mostly to understand the meaning of each letter in a monitor's name. Then I choose a monitor that I thought would really show off the NVIDA graphics. I can say that the VX2253MH-LED is a perfect monitor for any purpose. Some of the things that I use it for include Photoshop, streaming videos from Netflix and playing Mahjong. Some other points of interest: It is much cooler than a non LED monitor; there are two HDMI ports in case you happen to have two input sources, such as a cable box and a DVD player. The one minor negative is that the stand, in my opinion, should be a little less flimsy. As the title says, I do love this monitor.

This monitor is beautiful. A lot bigger than I imagined. I have a 22" LCD Monitor and this one looks like a monster next to it. The color is vibrant; the max resolution is amazing. The only downside is small sized font is a bit blurred. I had to do a bit of correction in the TrueType settings on the computer to get it to look right. I might have to buy a second monitor for my girlfriend (our computers are side by side).
