Reliably Passes Packets
This simple switch does what it needs to do. It passes packets and dosn't get in the way. I use at home in my non Air conditioned house. It's been on 24/7 for years. in 60F to 102F in low humidity 40% to high humidity 90%. It works with papers stacked on top of it, It works upside down. It's gives good speed for 1Gigabit network's and None of my Nic's have had any trouble with it. For the price it can't be beat. If I had to nitpick something the power input is weird it's not 12V so when your pet chews through the cord you will probably not have a spare power adapter handy.

Product is true to its name and description
A simple and well done product to distribute the incoming internet connection to multiple devices over ethernet connections. It works well since I have a Google Nest wifi router which has only one outbound ethernet port and thus I needed this switch to connect multiple smart home hub devices like Ring Alarm, Arlo Pro, Lutron Caseta bridge, my LG OLED Smart TV, Vonage VOIP landline etc. I still have a couple more ports for more devices. The speed is uncompromised and all devices wireless and wired work very well with the high speed internet.

Good switch for the money
This is a no-frills 8-port gigabit switch in a metal housing. If you need a simple, reliable gigabit switch, this one will do just fine. I put this behind my TV - one wire out of the wall, and I can connect all of my components via Ethernet (smart TV, Tivo, Roku, XBox, etc). This is un-managed so you don't have to fuss with anything. Just plug it in and go. My only comment is that the power jack is on the opposite side from the 8 ethernet jacks - I would like to have seen them all on the same side, or even the power jack on the side (as some other brands have) but that doesn't affect operation in any way - just makes or a little less neat cable management.

Does what its supposed to do
I had the setup all wrong.
Before I had:
Cable > modem > Switch > Wireless router
I thought that was working because I was getting wireless connection and all devices running off the wifi router were fine.
Once I started plugging into the switch; nothing was getting recognized.
After exhausting all my options; I called customer service and a tech told me that my setup was incorrect.
New setup:
Cable > modem > wifi > switch
After fixing those cables up; I plugged my devices in and everything connected instantly.
Before I had:
Cable > modem > Switch > Wireless router
I thought that was working because I was getting wireless connection and all devices running off the wifi router were fine.
Once I started plugging into the switch; nothing was getting recognized.

One bad port 100mbps instead of gigabit
I had confidence in these 8port switches so much that I've bought 4 of them over the last year. I'm starting to rethink these because I've just spent hours trying to find out why one computer on one of them is only running at 1000mbps. My first thought was computer drivers... nope... updates and roll backs didn't make a difference. Next was perhaps slow host... nope, same issue accessing multiple hosts. Next perhaps cable, nope same with another CAT6 cable. Perhaps PC. Nope swapping around cables, and connections... same issue on any PC connecting through any CAT 6 cable to the number 5 port. The particular switch I'm having problems with I've only had for a month and half. Real pain.

Plug and play device without the play
Similar to a wide variety of devices this item is supposed to work and augment your network out of the box. Unlike any new switch I have encountered, it simply did not work. I am left with the conclusion that there is no quality assurance because a simply connectivity test would easily and very quickly reveal that network communication does not function. Furthermore there is supposed to be a web configuration tool at 192.168.0.1 .. I was unable to access this tool even when only my PC was connected. Since countless routers and similar devices have no issue working as intended and providing a configurable web interface, I have to conclude that the item I was sent simply doesn't work. My confusion is how such an item would ever be marked as sell-able when it is so easy to test it and see that it doesn't function

It just works
Simple, unmanaged switch...it does what it's supposed to do.
My only complaint is with the jack indicators. There is only a single green LED per jack, and it's recessed below a tiny hole in the metal box, so it's hard to see unless you are looking straight at it. Also, since it's a single color, you can't tell which speed the jack has negotiated to...which isn't a big deal, but can be useful for troubleshooting. I have it mounted in a wall panel and 99% of the time it's going to be out of sight and out of mind...so it really isn't a big deal for me, but worth considering for someone else.
If you are specifically looking for a switch that doesn't put out a ton of light (ie. in a theater room) this would be a good option. Some of the other switches and routers put out enough light to read a book by (like my Netgear Nighthawk router...)

Excellent, sturdy and easy to use Ethernet switch
This is an amazing plug and play ethernet switch. No hassles. No set up. Just plug your CAT cables into this box and the blinking green lights show that your devices are communicating. Nice metal case is a plus. The only thing that would be better is if the data lights were on the front and all of the plugs were on the back. This would look neater sitting on my TV stand where this box is serving my smart TV, smart DVD player and one cable of course that goes to my ethernet signal source. Other than that nit (which seems to exist with all of the ethernet switches I was considering), I am extremely happy with the sturdy construction and flawless performance of this switch.

Great price for a more than acceptable home managed switch.
Not a whole lot of frills, but it doesn't need them. Very simple, but quick and responsive GUI.
I bought this switch because I was looking to further segment off my devices on my network for functionality and security sake. I already had VLANs set up with my wifi routers on FreshTomato, and pfSense as main router. I needed another stage between to better segment those and add more.
There was a very slight learning curve for setting up the VLANs in the GUI, but nothing extreme and pretty much every product family has a different way of handling VLAN setup, so I wasn't surprised. Having the Port ID tag on a different page than the VLAN port tagging seems unnecessary to me, but it's not a hard concept.
All in all, I'm happy with my purchase and don't think anyone looking to expand a small network would be either.

Nice switch
Nice switch, well made, metal case, fanless - so very quiet, but stays cool. Its got a Kensington lock port, which is a nice little add on - even if most folks wouldn't need it. I like that the wall wart plug is designed to fit into a surge-protector without hogging plugs around it. Ports are well shielded, auto-sensing so it makes it dummy proof if you need to cascade. Two odd design choice - the cables plug in to one side, the power plugs in to the opposite side. Depending on your needs - this could be a nice to have, or an odd placement (it was the latter for me). Second - the status lights are on the side with the network cables (meaning to see them, your cables would need to connect into the 'front'. Like the earlier choice - this could be a positive for you or a negative - I'd suspect its a negative for most people - but not a killer.

Incredibly Straight Forward
I literally did nothing to make this thing work. I plugged in the ethernet from my router, then plugged in all my devices and everything has blazing fast internet now. I can't believe how simple this was. If you are questioning upgrading your house to wired ethernet don't sweat it. It's so simple. It is really only a 7 port though because one of the 8 is taken up by your incoming ethernet but other than that this thing works great. I have 1gbps internet from ATT and connecteed directly to the router I got about 875mbps. Connected to an ethernet cord through this switch i was getting 800mbps so it handles high speeds with ease. I attribute the loss to the ethernet cord length because I tested my longest connection.

Does the job
Writing this review after being hesitant on getting a switch for some time after reading some of the reviews. I use the switch in my home office and have my desktop computer, a 50" LG smart TV and two Sonos One's hardwired into it. Signal feeds from my Meshforce wifi router which is also in close proximity. Hooked up right out of the box and so far (about two months) I've had no issues with any drop out or failure. Only needed the 5 port but bought the 8 as it was only $2 more and figure it was worth having the extra ports if I add something else. Very happy so far. Time will tell if it holds up.

You pay what you get for..
It might sound crazy (literally) but this product makes noise (!). For some reason it generates a very annoying high frequency noise. I simply had to disconnect it after few seconds because it was so annoying. Since the switch is located right next to me I simply cannot use it. I have another Net Gear 8 ports gigabit switch. It doesn't make any noise at all.
This switch also doesn't give you an indication if you are on 10/100/1000 speed. Even though this switch doesn't cost much, it is a complete waste of my money. I also cannot return it, since it will cost more than the switch. I am going to order another Net Gear..

LED's compared to the same device purchased in 2017 is so much smaller and Amber LED's are gone
Very disappointed in the changes compared to the same purchase in 2017. All the amber LED's are gone only left with tiny little green LED's. Without the amber LED's, you won't be able to tell if your device connecting dropped from 1000 to 100. it's always green. You can barely see it lit is another issue. Aside from the same metal chasis, I don't like this new one at all now. Beware of the tiny little LED's and missing Amber LED's.

Plug and play but has short power supply cord
My old hub gave up the ghost so I substituted this switch and presto back in business. Works well with multiple computers, NAS box, printer, etc. The case has screw-head holes so one can hang it such as on a wall, the side of a file cabinet, or desk.
The down side is that the cord on the power supply is roughly 30 inches long, annoyingly short for some situations and shorter than came with my old hub and the orientation of the wall wort relative to the prongs works poorly with a power strip because it covers an outlet.

Fan makes noise, not totally silent and the trunking feature wasn't clear
I really like this switch and I love the model lineup for from TP-Link. I sell these things to my clients and they just freaking work in all sorts of environments. The one thing on this switch was the LACP. Link Aggregation Control Protocol. It worked in static mode for my other LACP enabled switch but it didn't seem to function properly in full LACP mode. The directions are junk for this setup. If you want to trunk/LAG this switch, good luck the manufacture gives little to NO details on setting these up... Note, it works and I've got LAG working.. just note little info on this.

Seamless expansion device!
We ran ethernet cable throughout our home a few years back after the vagaries of our WiFi signal began to make us nuts! We're so glad now that our streaming TVs are hooked up to a hard connection and we added two TPLink access points for WiFi. If you need more wires, just add an 8-pot splitter like this and once you've rebooted, you're in business rock solid construction and wall-mountable, too.

Small, Easy to Operate
Simple eight port ethernet switch. Minimalist indicators, power and activity. I didn't realize this unit doesn't have port speed indication, which would have been nice, but no biggie, as the hub it is connected to shows it is a gigabit connection. Uncontrolled switch, so the interface and internals are simple, just plug in and go. If this was a controlled switch, you would need to configure it to what goes where. Small indicator lights on each port shows connection and activity on the port. Small footprint, its only as big as the width of the ports, plus power, internals are kept small and compact. Metal case adds a little weight, but probably adds to shielding the unit from unwanted external interference. OVERALL: Small, easy use, eight ports from one port used, simple install, gigabit speed, and good price point. If you don't need controlled port switching, this is a good option.

normal everyday 8 port GIG switch....does what it needs to and everything on the other end has full speed of the 140mb the internet has...(i have a router on the end of the house with a cat6 cable feeding this on the other end of the house....this is running 2 PC's, a printer, 4K smart TV, 2 gaming consoles and a extra cable left out for a laptop)....someone on netflix with a laptop, someone gaming on a PC and still someone gaming on a console wont mess with each other on my set up....but again we have 140mb down and 15 up....it really shines when we can stream 4k from a local NAS and not have the PC lag on online gaming
