I've become convinced the internals are pretty much the same with all routers these days. This was confirmed by a computer products store sales rep, who said the main difference between routers is the software that comes with them.After our one-year-old Netgear router died, I started shopping for a replacement. I bought a Linksys router, and the installation software froze the computer requiring a reboot. Back it went. Next I tried a slightly less expensive Belkin router. It actually worked but it couldn't keep the signal going to a wireless desktop computer without constant drops. Back it went.Finally I tried this much less expensive Tenda router. A month later, it appears to be a keeper. It comes with a printed, one-page Quick Installation Guide, plus on CD a Setup Wizard and User Guide.I had some trouble making the initial connection, but I'd read somewhere that it helps, after plugging in the router, to then unplug the power to your cable modem briefly and then plug it in again. Doing so, the router established its initial connection with the cable modem.Regarding customer or technical support, my only experience is making one phone call to the 800 number during regular hours, and receiving a recording saying they were closed for the day.There are occasional dropped connections to a wireless-connected desktop in another room, but it is about the same as the Netgear router we used before it. I consider it to be acceptable performance, and the occasional drops may relate more to the older wireless access card in the desktop than to the Tenda router.In addition to the desktop, other wireless items in the house connected through the Tenda are a laptop, a Nintendo Wii, a smart phone and a Kindle. All appear to be connecting without a problem.My only concern is long-term reliability, as I'm getting tired of cheaply-made products lasting a year, then having to research replacements, and go through the installation hassle. Still, if that is the current standard, then it makes sense to spend as little as possible. Thus far, 30 days of operation with the Tenda, it is doing its job.

I bought this product to replace my Netgear Wireless router as the Netgear dropped wifi connections several times a month. I have had this for two week without an issue; also it emits a stronger signal, 3X stronger than my Netgear unit. It looks sharp, and no antenna sticking up from the base. Very easy to program. The vendor shipped quickly and it arrived on time. Would buy from him/her again. SIX WEEKS LATER: Had to drop my star ratting as the Wifi connection drops off all the time, and I have to use an Ethernet cable connect. Working with Customer Service to resolve problem. But they seem to want you to leave a message, so I will have to complete this report when they call me back. FOUR DAYS LATER: No call back yet !! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE - Actually no customer service.

I bought this one to save money, but Tenda cuts costs by not having tech support in the U.S. (they give an international number as their tech support number). They have some extra/unnecessary complications when trying to set up the wireless connection and since I couldn't get help doing it, I was never able to make the router work. (And I'm pretty good with tech stuff and I talked on the phone with my internet provider support for an hour and he tried to troubleshoot it with me, but to no avail.) So, I had to return it and get another one. That one I simply plugged in and it worked. Definitely worth the extra twenty bucks!

I unfortunately have to give it 1 star just to post a review it's not worth that but here is my experience with this piece of ..... equipment. Luckily I got this from Microcenter for free, I have tried to use it but it is the most unreliable device I have ever used. It works fine when connected, if it connects at all or if the connection lasts long enough to be useful. It becomes unresponsive and cannot be accessed through wireless or direct cable connection. Plenty of configuration options which give the impression of a powerful full featured device in a small package, but they are useless since the device doesn't stay connected long enough to be useable. When my new router arrives it will be thrown in the trash, I wouldn't even want my reputation soiled by selling it or giving it away. You can save yourself a lot of trouble by simply burning your money instead of purchasing this, at least you would get heat and light.

I am happy to tell everyone I purchased the Tenda 268R Wireless Router and it has exceeded my expectations. It has all the features I was looking for in a router, including speed, security and excellent range. It's definitely perfect for small apartments and offices. And on a scale from 1 to 10 I rate it a 7 for a better than average performance. It just simply works great. And although, the downloadable user guide for this item contains a few grammatical errors and misspellings, they're minor and not a problem, it's still understandable. It's really a good buy!

This is a great little modem. Installing was a snap and the range is good. And for the price, it can't be beaten. If you are looking for an inexpensive modem, look no further.

Purchased this device from a local, very reputable audio dealer in Seattle in Dec '11. All iPads, iPhones, Macs, and PC's in our household connect to it's wireless signal, except my old 3G and brand new 4S does not. Called Comcast, who urged me to call Tenda. Tenda says it has 24/7 service, but a very difficult to understand Far Eastern individual with heavy accented parlance answered the call. He very quickly tried to sell a $169 1-yr service package. I objected. Then he tried to sell a similar $39.95 service package. It's cheaper to buy a new router than go through this economic foolishness.

I wanted something inexpensive since i moved to new place and didn't get to carry my old router. I am impressed by this one so far.. once i got it up, my wifi is running perfectly. Their installation was fine, but when it tries to discover dynamic IP, it couldn't. So, tried the golden rule in any troubleshooting. 'reboot' :-) rebooted my cable modem, and then retried.. it recognized the dynamic IP this time. Iam an average user - use skype to do video chat, watch netflix. for these kind of uses, this router is more than enough. Big thumbs up from me. I also bought this from a vendor 'hamarabajaj' thru amazon and that seller is great.. got it in very quick time

THIS DOES NOT work AT all as a wireless router with my mac the only way I can get this stupid piece of crap to work is hard wired which defeats the whole purpose of a wireless router with a laptop. I cannot belive they sell this crap. It's THAT bad. It's sooooo frustrating when your trying to use the internet for simple things and you can FORGET ABOUT NEWS VIDEOS. This thing is junk. I'm going back to my G that's how bad it is. I hope this company goes out of business for this one.

I got this router for free from Microcenter and it is the worst router I have ever used. It will work for a couple of months then go hay wired and you have to reconfigured the whole router. It finally broke and I gladly threw it away.

The delivery and the packaging was all fine. The problem I have with the item is that its range is not great. The place that I have the router is in my living room, but I need the signal to go into the back room. It gets there but it is a very weak signal that occasionally drops. When I move to the living room, the signal is very fast, but only if I am decently close. I say, buy it if you are going to be somewhat close, but if not, go with something else.

Piece of junk. I got two of them for free at microcenter in exchange for buying a new flash drive for my macbook pro. This router does not work 90% and when it does work it works slower than sh*t. Most of the time it inexplicably cannot connect. Massive headache and waste of time.

This does not come with the disc or instructions on how to set up using a MAC, and is a horrible router. The website for this company does not work anymore and appears to not have gone out of business in 2009. This is cheap for a reason and is so much of a headache.

I ordered this router on March 21st, 2012. I am returning it tomorrow on June 6th, 2012. The router worked great until it broke less than 3 months later. I would not recommend it.

So far this router hasn't given me any problems. The signal is strong and all my laptops connect to it without any issues. I bought it for the price of 14.99 when it was on sale and so far it's doing a good job.

This router is definitely befitting of its low price. In my experience it's a complete piece of garbage and going back to my old Netgear is like breathing a sigh of relief. I have 2 Macs, a PC, a wireless printer and a smartphone. Did not work at all with the phone or printer. The Macs dropped internet probably once every half hour, although it still was connected according to the macs. The PC laptop would drop internet any time it "slept". The router was about 9 feet away from my iMac, yet the signal showed only 3 out of 5 bars.I did not notice a speed increase but rather slower performance. I also couldn't figure out how to change the access code so had to constantly look around for the 12 digit code it defaulted to. I could also not access the external drive I had plugged into the router. With the Netgear, I can access the drive with Macs or PCs. I'm glad I saved the setups for the Netgear; just plugged it in and everything immediately worked again. I think when I upgrade to "n", I will look at Netgear's offerings first. All things considered, you get what you pay for! At this time, however, I don't see a reason to change as the "g" router works just fine, and I watch a lot of HD movies and TV over the wireless connection no problem.

Got it for free about a year ago and still going strong... much better than my old linksys router...Only problem is once in a while I have to turn it off and turn back again because of the signal failure... not sure why it is like that... otherwise as a free item what else one could expect...

I recently purchased this Tenda W268R Wireless-N router for use in my home. The $26 pricetag intrigued me, but I was a little nervous about ordering an off-brand with only one customer review. However, after setting it up and using it for this past week, everything is working out great so far and I am quite pleased with my purchase. Setup is pretty straight forward. I used the CD that came with it, but I don't think it's really necessary, just made it simpler. I am decently versed in wireless technology, but the setup instructions can be easily followed by the average consumer as well. Currently I run my cell phone, computer, PS3, and Wii off of this router and everything works perfectly. I even noticed a speed increase on my broadband connection versus my cable company provided router. I did not use customer or technical support so I can't speak to how those are at this time (and hopefully won't ever have to).I will update this review should I have any problems arise in the future.06/18/11

As a computer repairman for over ten years, I'm quite knowledgable when it comes to routers. I have used most of them. However I was happily surprised to see that this Tenda wireless router is preforming above expectations, It was inexpensive and I love it.

For the money it costs, it has a lot of features. It has been a while since I last purchased a wireless router (2006, IIRC). We used the Netgear 11G router since that time with very little issues, other than maybe two or three drops a day. I thought a newer 11N router would be faster, and ideally more reliable. However, after less than a week, I have been routinely getting dropped at least 10 - 12 times per day. I do a lot of stateful connection work, so drops require me to reconnect to the server on which I am working. I realize that wireless is never as reliable as wired, so I generally accept the risk.I'm hoping that I am the only one getting dropped this frequently, but I thought everyone may like to know at least one of us is having this issue with this router.

I actually purchased (at a low-cost) and reviewed this product within the "Video Games" section here on Amazon...Received my Tenda W268R Router fast enough, set-up a few days later and am pleased my unit appears factory new and is working as expected. This was an impulse buy so, I took the time to read everything and set-up was a breeze. It's not necessary to use the set-up CD...if you know your settings for the router firmware, enter them and you're up and running quickly, smoothly and securely.The most noticeable difference (from my WRT54GL router) is the speed...doubled, nearly tripled! Transmission range isn't as broad as I had hoped but, still, a considerable increase. Otherwise, better security.Okay, nice, no, Very Nice! That says it all for this low-cost router. Since it's only been a few days running now, my only concern may be longevity. I expect trouble-free performance and I'm hoping for 5-10 years of reliable service from this Tenda router. So far, overall, I am very pleased...this has been an outstanding purchase!

Bought this for under twenty at a local computer store. Works just fine with my wired desktop and with the wireless on my phone. Speedtest.net results are the same as when plugging directly into the modem with my desktop 25mb/s-ish. Speedtest app on my android phone with wireless drops to about 10mb/s but still ALOT faster than the 300kb/s I was getting with my phone network(thats 300 with a k). Setting up a wireless password was not straightforward enough for the average user. Recommend for the money.

I don't think you can find a "least" expensive alternative to this router. Set up is a breeze and the wireless strength is really exceptional. I have router in my basement where my office is and yet on the second floor, my wife's laptop reception is just great.

I received this, purchased online. Installation was somewhat confusing, especially the security features. Once installed it frequently lost connection and had to be rebooted until finally that no longer worked and I had to replace it. I cannot recommend this product.

I got one free from a store promo several months ago . It feels very cheaply made and the documentation is poor. However, the router has not given my relative any problems. The documentation is weak and the support is almost non-existent I don't know if I would buy one in the currently advertised price range since there are often deals on the well support major brands of routers.

I just picked up this router at a local store here for $19.99. The price absolutely cannot be beat. Installation was as easy as any other wireless router I've owned. Was up and running within 5 minutes. The main reason I purchased this was my Magnavox Blu-Ray player is wireless capable, but my Linksys G router was not fast enough to keep up with the streaming of video.As soon as I tried this router, all the buffering problems went away!Video is clear and buffer-free, even running HD video. So far so good!My laptops all connect to it with no problems, and the signal is clear and strong throughout the house.

I already upgraded my Linksys b/g router to Berklin N router in my office 2 month ago. But because my office is at one corner of the house, some area have weak signal. So I pickup this cheap Tenda to put in the upstair to cover dead spot (for several 3G cell phone). It works great. My house is wired with Eithernet. So I connect Tenda to Berklin with a switch in between. The setup took some time. But actually use the default works OK. I first turn off Tenda's DHCP and use Berklin's DHCP, but can leave both DHCP on.
