This headset does not work. I'll be specific on the nature of the problem. I bought the SB 135 headset (which has a mic) to do online teaching due to the coronavirus. I am plugging it into my iMac (a desktop). I started plugging the USB into a USB hub, but then went directly to the rear of the iMac, where there are female USB ports.
I have gone to the usual Settings->Sound section and the input and output options for the SB 135 are there. I have the input and output set to the SB 135. Microphone and Ear doesn't function.
I have also heard that perhaps one needed to download software. I went to the Sennheiser website. I did a detailed search for Call Center & Office Heads -> Wired Headsets -> SC 135/165 USB. The only things for download are 4 documents. They are:

Safety Guide
EU Declaration of Conformity
There is no software listed under Product downloads.
Does anyone one else have this issue? What a bummer.
It isn't clear that if I upgrade my OSX that will help. I am running macos High Sierra right now.

Audio is good incoming and outgoing. The USB controller is off limited use with the softphone I use for work. volume and call start and end don't work with Mitel softphone version I have, but mute worked. Overall good sound and allows you to adjust how much of your own voice loops back to your ear piece. Can say if Noise cancellation feature is doing anything.
Updated to 5 stars after using for a while. Sound quality is excellent for phone. Find volume control and mute very useful. Mute lights red led on controller when engaged.

The headset is comfortable and when it works it sounds great. But there is something chronically wrong with the in-line volume control / mute buttons that causes annoying crackling for me and for the folks whom I am talking to. I can shake the little rectangular in-line control box and make the crackling increase. I know - some might say "Well, just don't shake it!" Easier said than done. The slightest movement of the headset cord can cause the crackle to occur. I have done two exchanges, and each time have been more than willing to give the new headset a try. Each time, total diappointment within 5 minutes. And don't say that it's my computer. I can use a different headset in the exact USB port and it's flawlessly clear. SO, I will be disposing of this Sennheiser headset and moving onto something else. BEWARE!

Well the product was fine (sound and hearing). they were extremely uncomfortable. My ears hurt withing half an hour of using them. Also they were falling of every time i reach for something or bent. Not good enough, but if you lie you could jump in and give these a try. I'll never recommended these to a friend

Ok, empezaré con lo unico que no me gusto; sentí una ligera acentuación en los bajos (a mi gusto personal). Sin embargo incluyendo esto la calificación que les daria es de 6 estrellas ya que en cuanto a calidad y precio el producto supera mis expectativas, el audio es increible se escuchan muy bien para ser una diadema de audioconferencias y la musica tambien tiene muy buena fidelidad. Algo que no me esperaba y me encantó es que las bocinas se ajustan muy bien a los oidos, el sonido se siente envolvente aunque no son surround y en ambientes de oficina asilan parcialmente el ruido exterior, aunado a esto los audifonos son comodos para traerlos varias horas puestos. Si me preguntan si los recomiendo no dudaría en decir que si.

it clearly shows a 3.5mm jack (which is also shown on the Sennheiser site) It also shows you how to dial a call, answer phone, redial etc. But what is supplied is a built in USB so you cannot connect to phone and there is no separate connector so you cannot change to a jack - what a disappointment. I bought it to use with phone and for podcasts but I am not sure if the quality is good enough and whether to send it back. it implies that you either get 2 cables or a converter or something. Why would you have a great big photo for a jack connecter when it is a lie?

Bought for video conferencing during Covid-19 lockdown. Very confortable headphones, earpiece sound quality is good. Have had negative comments about quality of sound from microphone when using with phone, but testing recording on a laptop seems very good so most likely a phone or phone compatibility issue.
The headset has a 4 pole 3.5mm plug standard for headsets on modern phones and laptops. Also supplied is a USB adaptor which includes call control buttons, but I haven't really used this.

I had a cheap Logitech ($30) that finally broke after many years, and decided to get Sennheiser since they are supposed to be good value and good sound. What a mistake!
I'm not a huge audiophile, but it's pretty obvious that sound is terrible. It sounds like the speakers attenuating? Even with mic there is a bit of feedback and my voice sounds robotic if it's just a bit too loud. I've tried making several level adjustments and nothing really helps. Really disappointed.
EDIT: After using it some more, there was a firmware update for the headphones that drastically improved the sound quality. Changed rating from 1 to 4. It's now useable. It slips off my bald head to easily ;(

For a Sennheiser product, the SC 165's are a huge disappointment.
The sound quality is (<strike>pretty good</strike>) *only barely OK* for voice calls. That's about all I have that's good to say.
The Bad Stuff:
- Lots of contact noise transmitted from the cable. Any movement that makes contact with the cable comes through as a loud "clunk" or rustle. Unforgiveable.
- The mute randomly turns off. If I'm on a conference call, or I've set the phones down and they're not in use, I want to avoid any pickup, so I turn the mute on. 10 minutes later I'll glance down and the mute will be off, all on its own. Unforgiveable.
- They're not really that comfortable. After an hour or so the pressure from the on-ear pads is uncomfortable. And there's not much latitude in adjustment to alleviate the pressure.
- They're just clumsy. The weighting distribution of the phones, coupled with the extra bulk of the volume control on the cable, makes it impossible to find a good way to wear them. Setting them down, the weight always manages to drag the phones off the desk, or at minimum lie in a fashion where they take up far more desk space than they should.
My rating: Don't buy.

I use this mostly for phone calls, though I have noticed that when listening to music (between calls) the sound quality is very good. I have done voice recording tests to see how the microphone performs and I am very happy with the sound quality of the mic. I normally listen to music with a set of HD6XX headphones.
With the microphone in front of my mouth I was told it was picking up too much breathing noise from my nose. Because of this I actually use the headset with the microphone lifted up to around my eyebrows - there's no more breathing noise and it still picks up my voice very well, but with this level of sensitivity you can also expect that it will pick up the noise around you as well. This could probably be fixed by adjusting microphone sensitivity on your PC/smartphone if that is an option. At my desk, the microphone will pick up the sound of me typing on my keyboard or clicking my mouse.
The comfort of the headset is not the best after long periods of time.
An unfortunate design choice is that the inline mute/volume controls are only available when using the headset with the USB adapter. While the headset works great plugged into my smartphone, there are no inline controls.
Overall the headset works well, but at the same time it doesn't really stand out for me in any way, and I can't help but feel that it is quite expensive for what you get.

The USB connection is a god send, i have a bose headset, and two other Bluetooth headsets (primarily for my phone). For some odd reason they sometimes connect to my system and sometimes they dont, so this USB headset is perfect, connects to one device and is a good product, audio was crisp and clear, mic was also clear, no disturbances. I say buy this product if you need to take online meetings on your system, doesn't matter weather from home or anywhere else.

Die Soundqualität dieses Headsets ist super. Bässe und Höhen differenziert. Mikrophonqualität kann ich selbst nicht beurteilen. Es gab bis jetzt von den Office Team-Teilnehmern keine Beschwerde.
Gaming wird nicht beurteilt da dies kein Gaming Headset ist.

Got my SC 165 (USB-A version) almost a month back and checked it on zoom and skype. Works like charm. Compatibility with other platforms would depend on the company's policies to allow usage of audio connectivity in the virtual environment. because it didn't inside Citrix. Make sure your organization has provided full access to connect through these platforms for audio.
I updated the software and firmware before using the headset.
Found this BETTER than Jabra evolve (not evolve 2 series) 40 UC over the ear headsets. I have used Jabra provided by company and I had troubles with loudness & clarity. But SC 165- is a winner in my factual opinion. Plantronics C3220/C3225 and SC - 165 share similar feedback.
1. Microphone quality is really good. Not the best. but extremely happy when compared with local headsets and earphones.
2. The voice through the microphone actually didn't sound robotic to the other caller. I read somewhere it sounded for some users.
3. Loud and clear sound. no distortion at all. don't have to press one side of the headset against your ear (if you know what I mean)
4. Build quality - satisfactory. Not sturdy. By no means should a flex test be done to check the strength. Use it responsibly.
5. Clamping force is super comfortable for my liking. since it's lightweight, I could wear it for hours without fatigue/pain.
6. Controls like mute/call/volumes are good and works as advertised.

Certes il semble être de bonne qualité, mais il n’y a aucune protection contre le bruit ambiant, au niveau des écouteurs. La partie des écouteurs qui est au contact de l’oreille est rigide (aucune mousse, simplement un styrofoam), il n’y a donc pas d’atténuations passive du bruit. Lorsque utilisé avec un cellulaire (jack 3,5) le fil est trop court et ne dispose plus du système de réglage du son (mute, volume, et gestion d’appel)
Déçu surtout pour la qualité habituelle de Sennheiser, et à cause de son prix qui n’est pas en rapport avec l’image « d’entrée de gamme » qu’il évoque.
De plus le remboursement n’est pas total, et le vendeur reste muet. Très mauvais service.
Passez votre chemin.

Ich habe mir das Headset gekauft, da ich beruflich sehr viel telefoniere. Viele Bluethooth Headsets, die ich ausprobiert habe, hatten ihre Macken, deshalb habe ich mich für ein Kabelgebundenes entschieden. Man versteht den Anrufer sehr gut und der einen auch. Einen Stern Abzug, da der mitgelieferte USB-Adapter die Qualität stark verschlechtert! Bei Videocalls meinten meine Kollegen es ist sehr blechern und schrill. Den benutze ich nun einfach nicht mehr....

The product did not function as advertised. I wanted it for taking video conference calls on my laptop/mobile and also for listening to music. The product was ordered on Oct 20 and the return for refund was picked up on Oct 27. Today is 26 Nov and I still do not have confirmation that the product is returned and that my refund is being processed. It is not helpful to process purchases more efficiently than returns as it will make me very wary of ordering via Amazon in furture

As per the specification and picture, the headset is supposed to have 3.5mm and USB connectors for phone and laptop. However, when I receive the actual product it is completely fixed to USB. There is no detachable chord for 3.5mm connection, this is against the specification. Amazon should review such inconsistencies in product and service delivery. Not at all acceptable for the ones we pay for, kindly suggest for necessary changes.

Product tested and worked well with Skype for business and Jabber.
The only "complaint" is that for they could have provided a better carrying bag offering better protection to your device. I have another headset from Jabra and they provide a neoprene zipper bag which seems better in protection compare to the Sennheiser provided one.

Les oreillettes sont larges, le casque très léger.
La qualité du son et le micro sont très bons pour un usage visio mais sans doute pas pour une écoute mélomane.
La possibilité d'utiliser sur le pC via la prise jack le micro et les HP en même temsp (si votre PC le propose) est très pratique.
La livraison Amazon est toujours 100% sans faute ! 24h chrono

音質は、期待したほどではなく、スマホに付属していたイヤホンマイクと違いが分かりません。
遮音性は期待できない（外の音が聞こえる）ので、周りに人がいる場合は、音漏れに注意です。
値段も、注文後、２日で3000円近く下がるし、買って後悔しています。

I bought these for the half-hour meeting at work everyday. I also have used them to listen to music and the sound is rich and full. The mic is clear. The only negative is that they are flat and press on the whole ear. If you wear headphones for hours at a time, look into something that covers and goes over the entire ear; after an hour or two, these become uncomfortable. For what I need though, I'm very satisfied.

There is no software listed under Product downloads.
Does anyone one else have this issue? What a bummer.
It isn't clear that if I upgrade my OSX that will help. I am running macos High Sierra right now.
WIll be glad to give a positive review if I can only make this function.

Audio is good incoming and outgoing. The USB controller is off limited use with the softphone I use for work. volume and call start and end don't work with Mitel softphone version I have, but mute worked. Overall good sound and allows you to adjust how much of your own voice loops back to your ear piece. Can say if Noise cancellation feature is doing anything.
Updated to 5 stars after using for a while. Sound quality is excellent for phone. Find volume control and mute very useful. Mute lights red led on controller when engaged.

The headset is comfortable and when it works it sounds great. But there is something chronically wrong with the in-line volume control / mute buttons that causes annoying crackling for me and for the folks whom I am talking to. I can shake the little rectangular in-line control box and make the crackling increase. I know - some might say "Well, just don't shake it!" Easier said than done. The slightest movement of the headset cord can cause the crackle to occur. I have done two exchanges, and each time have been more than willing to give the new headset a try. Each time, total diappointment within 5 minutes. And don't say that it's my computer. I can use a different headset in the exact USB port and it's flawlessly clear. SO, I will be disposing of this Sennheiser headset and moving onto something else. BEWARE!

Well the product was fine (sound and hearing). they were extremely uncomfortable. My ears hurt withing half an hour of using them. Also they were falling of every time i reach for something or bent. Not good enough, but if you lie you could jump in and give these a try. I'll never recommended these to a friend

I've been using this headset for a week now and am quite satisfied.
After working from home for a number of months and still no end in sight, I decided to splurge and buy a headset. My company will buy one but they are always check and don't work well.
I use it connected to my laptop, but it works on my phone, too. The cord is really long, maybe 6' or more, which I like. I have a small, narrow head so I have to adjust it as small as it gets so there is a slight tendency for the ear pads to shift down by themselves. However, this doesn't happen often. Also, it's quite comfortable. I can wear it for hours and not remember it's there. This may be because my head is small, so the pressure on my ears isn't a much as it would be on someone with a wider head.
Sound quality is good; no one reports any echos or anything while I'm using it.
Overall, I'm quite please.

I purchased this after originally purchasing the MPow HC6 headphones, which kept plugging and unplugging constantly from my system. I tried every fix you can imagine, lurking through online forums for answers.
I finally bit the bullet and spent more than I'd planned on these Sennheisers and so far, no issues! I plugged them into my USB and Windows installed a driver and so far, there's been none of the plugging/unplugging I experienced with the MPOW product.
Not super comfortable on the ears, but certainly acceptable for hour-long meetings.
I don't know what the Star rating for "Sheerness" means, so I left that rating blank.

Trust the Sennheiser brand, but this headset is not for me. I did not plugin so cannot review the sound quality. The headband curved around the ears so a bit too tight for me. The earpads are nice and cushy and rotate well for storage. The mic boom was inside the headband, unlike others, and I thought it was well designed for better protection until I put on the headband and tried to pull out the mic boom. Then, I realized that it got caught with my hair. Not good. The unit feels very well built and even comes with a sturdy storage bag. I ended up keeping the Plantronics unit. Thanks, Amazon for the easy return.
