I have never owned a headset before for gaming, working on my computer, or skyp. I recently decided to purchase Dragon Naturally, so needed something. I did alot of research using Amazon reviews and with great worry pushed the button to buy these. They arrived in a day, so kudos to Amazon Fulfillment for that. Since I relied so heavily on reviews to buy these, I thought it might be helpful to provide a review for the things I had been looking for, namely mono USB headset that was plug-n-play for use with Dragon at home.Fit... Yes, other reviewers are correct, they fit funny. They don't feel like they sit naturally on my head. I have a small head (I think it's normal, but when others have put on my hats they have commented that I must have a small head.) The piece on the side that doesn't have an ear piece doesn't sit flush on my head and the ear piece doesn't fit low enough on my ear. Instead of sitting on my ear canal area, it sits more on the top of my ear. Having said that, it wasn't uncomfortable. It didn't hurt, it didn't annoy, it just took a while to get used to. Within 30 minutes, I forgot all about it. For my purposes, it's right on. I wear them for hours at a time and so far, I'm good. If that changes, I will update this review.Playback Sound... I bought my set for voice recognition software. I'm not using it to talk to others on my computer. If I was, I would have rated this less stars. When I do playback, it sounds like I'm far away. This isn't a problem for my purposes, but if I were skyping, I'd be annoyed.Voice Sensitivity... Yes, this is sensitive to sound. When my bracelet clanked on my desk, Dragon asked me to repeat that. It didn't type anything, but it did pick up the sound. I spoke naturally, and it caught all my words and instructions. I had the TV playing in the background in the other room and it didn't pick those words up at all. I breathed heavy a few times in frustration, and it didn't type anything. So, for me, this is great.Out of the Box Use... The package didn't require scissors to open (yippee there). About 10 seconds after I sat down, I was plugged in and going. There is a mute switch on the very, very long cable that I use frequently when I'm thinking or typing or just don't want the words picked up. With the USB connection, I didn't have to pull my CPU out from under my desk and deal with yet more cables. That was one of my key requirements.Really Long Cable.... Yes, as other reviewers commented on, the cable is very long, but what I've discovered is that instead of being hunched over a keyboard, I've been liberated. I can now lean back in my chair, contemplate the ceiling, swivel back and forth in the chair not to mention get up and turn the lights on, pace back and forth, and/or get files or books for reference. Basically, I can move all over my office without stopping what I'm working on. I use the twist tie to keep it from being too long, but I'm kinda glad it is so long. Big fan and I wasn't even looking for that as a feature.Improved Accuracy With Dragon.... I don't know if USB is what makes the difference or not. I read in one review that USB was better for Dragon for accuracy. I can't compare since I didn't make use of the set that came with Dragon that had the plugs for the back by the speakers (I have no idea what they are called). So far, Dragon has been very accurate, mostly, but that's because it's still learning my habits. It isn't the headsets fault.Quality... There were some reviews about the flimsy quality. I refuse to pay a ton of money for a headset. I have other things I'd rather spend my money on. Will they break? Probably if I'm slamming them around or not taking care of my things. The boom mic swings up and down. When I am not using them, I swing it up before I take them off so I don't run the risk of accidentally snapping it off. They don't feel flimsy, but they don't feel professional grade either. They do feel like I got a good product at a good price. But then again, this is the first set I've ever owned. So take all of that with a grain of salt.

I don't understand some of the reviews I've seen for this well-crafted, budget-conscious headset. I'm a freelance writer and do a great deal of my writing through Dragon Dictate (there's only so much typing one can do before carpal tunnel becomes a worry), and this is a great buy for my needs.First of all, I have a MacBook Pro, which means that I can't use the headphone/audio jack headsets. For my needs, the fact that this is a USB headset is key, and was basically the major selling point of this set. It's very much a plug-and-play setup; when you plug it in there's a blue light that lights up on the USB fob, indicating that it's ready to go. The cord of the headset has a handy little microphone mute switch and a volume control for the earpiece. For my needs, this is perfect. I do occasionally use this headset for Skype, but most of the time I'm more interested in the microphone; to this end, the fact that this is a one-sided headset is actually an advantage. I do sometimes wear these for a couple of hours at a time, and I didn't want a bulky double-sided monstrosity sitting on my head for that long, particularly since I don't much use it for audio output, anyhow. I wanted to be able to have my full hearing capacities about me while I was wearing it, and this allows me to do that with style. Er, if a headset can be considered stylish. The fact that it is only operational on the left ear could bother users who were sitting around listening on it for hours. If I were using this for gaming purposes or were frequently making calls, I'd spring for the double-sided version. The microphone arm also adjusts up and down, which is convenient when you don't wish to have the mic in your face - you can simply push it back and it will stand parallel with the headband of the unit. One of the other reviewers said that the headband was not adjustable, and this is untrue. You can very easily expand and contract the size of the headset by virtue of a mechanism on the side. I don't find it an uncomfortable set to wear, either. I mean, I also have a pair of Bose headphones and these don't even touch the comfort quality of those, but insofar as simple headphones that I wear for work are concerned I've got no complaints. I also don't believe that the construction is "cheap" - again, they're not as heavy duty as my Bose headphones, but they also aren't nearly as expensive. They're of a reasonable quality for a forty dollar headset, in my opinion. Just don't play rugby in them and you'll be okay. The only not-really-complaint about this headset is that the cord is ridiculously long. I'd say that if it were fully extended it would probably be at two meters, which is total and complete overkill, in my opinion. If I'm ever that far away from my computer, I probably don't need to be wearing a headset. However, I just have the majority of the cord gathered in a twist-tie, which effectively solves the "problem."In short, this is a great headset that fits my needs. For the price, you can't get much better. Sennheiser is a trusted name in headsets for a reason - if your headset needs are similar to mine, this is a great buy.

I was looking for a USB headset w/one headphone and a mic to use with Dragon. I found this Sennheiser one and the specifications looked great so I ordered it. When I took it out of the box I found that it could only be used for the LEFT ear. I tried to rotate the microphone so I could use the RIGHT ear but it wouldn't rotate. I called Sennheiser to see if there was something (a button or something) that needed to be pressed to accomplish this. They said it was designed for the left ear only. DataVision's sight did not indicate this at all, but neither does Sennheiser's website. Not very smart. I called DataVision and sent it back. They normally have a 15% restocking fee but the Service rep said he would try to refund all my money. Unfortunately they didn't return the $10.00 it cost me to ship and insure the return. The Service rep did offer to see if he could help with a purchase of a different product but they didn't stock anything that was equivalent. If I could rate the Service rep, I would give him and EXCELLENT. He was very good. If I were to rate Sennheiser, I would give them a very poor rating because they didn't specify that it would only work on the LEFT ear. You see my problem is that I'm almost deaf in the left ear and so the earphone was useless.

I picked this up for about $18 refurbished and I must say it's one of the best headsets in its class I've ever used. After a year or two of use, the part that wraps around my head snapped when I was putting it on. It's not really a sturdy material in any way and I didn't even expect it to last that long, but the electronic pieces of this headset are amazing. However, I don't think I would have bought it for the full retail price.

A former Plantronics' fan and daily user of Dragon Naturally Speaking, I conducted meticulous research of the Sennheiser PC 26 USB Single-Sided Monaural Headset before I decided to purchase. I was using the Microsoft LifeChat headset, a solid product that I have used for couple of years but it was ridiculously expensive, and I don't like having both ears covered when I am speaking. As a result, I was constantly adjusting LifeChat on my head at awkward angles, and I was not only uncomfortable, I looked like a moron. Finally, I threw caution to the wind (despite the multitude of positive reviews), and purchased.I have used it now for about a week, and have mostly positive comments:It is cost-effective, extremely comfortable, and sports a length of cord that allows me to get up a thousand times a day from my desk to let my stupid cat in/out without being jerked back in surprise by a too-short cord and a poor memory. The only negative comment is that this product is CIA-level sensitive and picks up EVERYTHING I say, such as muttering "stupid f****" at the aforementioned beast under my breath because God forbid she should make up her mind whether she wants to stay in or out. Seriously, she drives me bat-crap crazy. It's not like she's waiting an hour before wanting to come back inside. She does this every fifteen minutes, and I'm pretty sure she's doing it on purpose to mess with me.Meanwhile, my negative comment does not fairly apply to the product and manufacturer. It is not Sennheiser's fault that my cat is a dumb***, and it is also not their fault that my client wanted to know why I called him a "stupid f*****."Probably I just need to work toward improving my editing skills and attention to detail (or lack thereof).

My job requires a good bit of drive time. In search of a way to make better use of that time, I decided that there are a number of tasks that I can do with my computer by using voice recognition. I don't need to see everything and can keep my eyes on the road. I searched for software and almost every review put more emphasis on 1. Using a Headset & 2. Using a Quality Headset.I just got my Sennheiser PC 26 USB Single-Sided Monaural Headset with Microphone day before yesterday. Yesterday I called on customers and as I went from one to the other and on the way home, using the Windows Voice Recognition program that came with my Acer One computer and my Sennheiser PC 26, I dictated all of my sales calls. Today, all I had to do was pull up the saved doc file, do very little editing, then copied and pasted to my Sales call sheet. WaLa.Windows had no problem in immediately picking up my voice. Most of the editing was due to me not saying "period" after each sentance. The Sennheiser PC 26 is also very comfortable too. I recommend it.Luvs2Dance

I was looking for a one-sided headset to use with Google Voice in my home office. I do not regret buying this headset at all. The earpiece sound quality is excellent The people I speak with say that on their end it sounds better than a regular telephone, so the microphone is apparently doing a good job too. The unit is completely plug-and-play with Windows XP.FYI - a prior review said this unit can convert to dual 3.5mm connector in addition to USB. That is not accurate. This is a USB headset only. I was hoping it was accurate when I ordered this, but I cannot hold it against Amazon/Sennheiser since that was not in the product description.I did knock one star off the construction quality rating since the headband is just plastic and the ear pad is rather thin foam - the kind typically seen on less expensive headsets. However, the pad does appear to be of a common size so if/when it wears out maybe there are replacements commonly available(?).The fit is very comfortable over the head and on the ear. I've been on a number of 1+ hour conference calls so far and it really doesn't even feel like I'm wearing anything. One slight criticism is that it can only be worn on the left ear since the mic will not rotate around to allow right ear usage. I haven't felt the need to do that yet but maybe some people would.

In short, this is just the perfect VOIP headset BUT the speaker volume it VERY low, so low sometimes i have to go back using my old Logitech 2 speakers headset. There is a lot to like about this product specially carrying the brand name it has. Microphone and audio playback is pristine but if your room is not quieted enough you will have a hard time maintaining a normal conversation.Recommendations to manufacturer:- use a not so soft volume control. Sometimes just by pulling the wire it moves lowering the volume.- Put a 20db booster switch for the speaker volume.

I'd like to return this headset but I've already thrown away the packaging. The sound coming through the headset is too low - yes, the volume dial is at the loudest setting, and I've played w/the mixer on my laptop to try to get the audio piece louder, it just doesn't output enough sound for me to hear well. I'm not hard of hearing (I don't think) so I'm thinking it's just the model.

I was looking for a cheap replacement headset to replace the one I had been using for years because the cat decided to chew through the wire. Then, I decided to replace "cheap" with "USB." One other factor was that since nobody could ever get my attention when I had my old headset on, maybe a one-sided headset would help everyone out in the long run. That's how I found this snazzy little headset. Not as plush and cushion-y as my previous headset and not as snug and form fitting as my headset when I was working in phone tech support. But, it is very light weight, comfortable, people on the other side can hear you very clearly, and it is very easy to install. Plug and play is awesome (at least in this case). Now, you may be asking yourself, "J, that's all well and good, but how is the sound quality?" I'm getting to that, patience is a virtue, you know. The sound is actually pretty good. The bass response is well beyond my expectations for a headset so small and light. I keep my master volume turned down to about 35 and it is still plenty loud enough. You youngsters who like to listen to that rock and roll music may not like it that low but after years and years of mosh pits and metal concerts I've learned to love my ears and protect them. In fact, with the volume at 35 and not wearing them, my wife asked me to turn it down because it was distracting to her from across the room. But, the overall sound is crisp and clean with excellent bass response. If some of you are wondering (or complaining) if it's not in stereo, I will reiterate: It is a one-sided headset. You need two speakers to have stereo. It is mono. It is not made to listen to said rock and roll music through. It is so you can yell at your team mates to watch their six and to cover yours. Or, to tell that pesky huntard to stop hitting the wrong target and causing everyone to wipe.My only complaint (if you can call it a complaint) is that the headband itself is a little flimsy. Not that I think it's going to fall apart on me. It's just doesn't feel "solid," if you know what I mean.Oh, wait, one more. I said that the plug and play was good, and it is. However, after unplugging it, it takes a few minutes (at least on my system) to revert back to the speakers. I blame Vista more than anything, but it is a gripe. All in all, I give the Sennheiser PC 26 USB Single Sided Start Headset with Superior Sound four pesky huntards out of five.

Pros: Works well, sound quality excellent, good mic. on - off switch, can be configured for an Apple computer in seconds. Cons: It seems to be made of cheap plastic, headband could be a bit tight for some people and also uncomfortable to wear.

Overall, I like this headset, I only use it to talk on Skype on my Mac, or listen to video tutorials. My biggest gripe is that it just will not hold the connection to the USB port. I have tried two different USB hubs, and a direct connection, and every time I boot up, I have to manually unplug and replug the USB connection to get it to light up. No other USB device I have works like this and it is really annoying.

I just received PC 26, and decided within five minutes that I'm sending it back. First, its construction is awfully flimsy and plasticy. Someone here mentioned that they liked it flimsy as it was loose and thus easy to wear for extended period of time. But the over-head band feels too short, and as it is unadjustable it is uncomfortable. However, the fatal flaw is that this is a *left-sided* headset only! I wrongly assumed that the mic boom would rotate around for either right or left sided use, but it does not. I always use my headsets on the right side as it feels odd to use the headset on the left side (I suppose I'm right-eared). In any case, I'm going to look for a better quality, right-sided headset for use with Skype, and will return this one to Amazon.

I had bounced around to many different headsets before I finally found this one. It is perfect for my needs. After struggling with configuration issues using Bluetooth and micro jack headsets, this Sennheiser USB headset is a dream! My goal was to find a solution that would allow me to put chat audio in my ear piece while still allowing game audio to go through my main speakers (as it does on my Xbox 360). The USB interface sound card makes this incredibly easy. The sound quality is fantastic both sending and receiving. Mute and volume controls are nice on the ample cord. The headset is a light plastic, but it fits nicely and wears comfortably for hours. You won't find a better monaural headset. Sennheiser is quality and I love this product.

I've always liked Sennheiser sound. Needing another usb headset for Skype and PS3 I jumped on this. Unfortunately, it is not nearly loud enough. I did not know that usb audio devices could have different final amplification levels. I'm returning it for something with shoddy but loud output.

I have owned several Sennheiser stereo headphones over the years, and have always found their sound quality and wearing comfort excellent. This USB headset follows in the same tradition: solid construction, fine sound from the (monaural) earphone, good mic with perfectly fine dynamic range. I have used it with Skype with no problems so far - it is recognized by brand in the control panel under Windows 7. No complaints.

This would be a very good product if the microphone was louder. I really liked the in-line switch that allowed you to mute the microphone. It saved a lot of time from having to click a button on the softphone. Not sure why the microphone doesn't pick up as well as others had seen it. Running it using Avaya Softphone on Windows 7 64-bit as well as Windows XP. Microphone pick-up was not loud enough on either operating system. Ended up replacing this with a Plantronics model, that while it doesn't have an in-line mute, has a much better microphone.

Lighter, easier to travel with but most important, noticeably more accurate when doing dictation with Dragon and people are telling me that VOIP calls sound like a land line.

Sennheiser has a reasonably good reputation for its stereo headphones, which makes the extremely poor quality of this headset really surprising. They should be ashamed. This is a poorly designed, incredibly uncomfortable headset to wear. It's not even worth one star -- stay away.
