My hard drive was crapping out in my ps3, so I bought this to replace it. Works great, and the swap was as easy as could be. Only thing that took a while was backing up all my games, then restoring it. Highly recommend.

Had an old 40gig harddrive on my PS3 and what a difference upgrading it, the Seagate worked perfect if you follow the update instructions, takes 15min to do everything, worked like a charm. Even gamedata transferring and installing is 10x faster because of the 3gb/s transfer rate. I wish i would of done this sooner i lost so much data with having to delete old games to make room for the new ones.

i bought this for my ps3. while the screws on the ps3 can be a pain. the hard drive went in easy and worked perfect. i would definitely recommend this product for an ungrade for your ps3.

I bough the hard drive to upgrade my PS3 from a 80 GB to a 320 GB Hard drive. The upgrade took 5 hours from start to finish. I choose the Segate hard drive because i read that that is the kind Sony uses in the PS3 but when i took it out found out that mine was Toshiba Hard Drive. The longest part was backing it up and restoring it from the external hard drive. After the upgrade i have 199 GB free for games and movies.

I got the Seagate 5400 rpm 320gb hdd to use in a play station 3, my ps3 hdd became corrupted and I tried everything to reformat The 80 GB hard drive That was in it with no luck. so I bought a three hundred twenty gigabyte hard drive From Amazon, after looking in at several places on the Internet and several places around the town I live i decided to buy it from Amazon i thought the price is fair. installation went with no problems and after the PlayStation reformatted The Seagate hard drive the PlayStation 3 is working perfectly so far no problems to report.I had Amazon Ship the Seagate 320 In 2 days ground and it showed up just as it was supposed to Amazon's tracking was on top of the shipping and and they notified me when it had been shipped and of course I had the option To track it through Amazon on my own. I have purchased things through Amazon before And I never had a problem from them. I believe from amazon's Sales Tracking and Customer service they are one of the best internet companies out there.Of course these are only my personal views i am not affiliated nor do I know anyone who works at Amazon.

I bought this hard drive to replace the 40GB hard drive on my PS3. I was almost about to trade mine in so I could buy a PS3 slim with more capacity. Searching for buying options I found out that you could upgrade your hard drive without voiding the warranty, and in only 20 mins with only a screwdriver and a steady hand. I was running out of space fast due to downloading movies and TV episodes. I reviewed several other drives before choosing this one. The Seagate stuck out above the rest for two main reasons:-First being that the original hard drive in my PS3 is a Seagate, so if Sony trusts them so do it. I also decided to stick with 5400 rpms because that is the spec for all PS3s, and the 7200s have gotten some poor reviews for noise, heat, and no real gain in performance. Also I heard some 7200's are a little thicker than the 5400's therefore some do not actually fit in the PS3's expansion bay.-Second, reviews (on another site) rated it very high, and nobody had had a problem with it. Also the prices on the SATA 2.5 inch drives have all gone down in the last few months so that was enough reason to make the investment. I highly recommend this hard drive for use with the PS3, it is quiet, runs cool, and was installed with ease.INSTALLATION: If you are going to upgrade your hard drive use a #1 phillips screw driver (#2 is the most common) or you will strip the small screws that secure the drive to it's cradle. If you strip or bugger those screws you are looking at least a few weeks to order them from Playstation. Also, make sure you have a compatible (FAT32) USB flash drive so you can download the most recent update. I have used both Sony and SanDisk USB drives and they work fine. After swapping out the old hard drive the console will prompt you to update the system via USB or CD. You must download it from PS3.com. Create a folder called PS3, and inside that folder another called UPDATE, and store the update inside that one. Make sure you use all UPPERCASE or it won't recognize it. After that the PS3 will format the new drive for you. Happy gaming!UPDATE (6/23/12): This drive has performed flawlessly and since my review it has been moved from my original 40GB PS3 into one of my new PS3 slims. My old PS3 40GB got the yellow light of death but I was able to get it running to perform a backup. I then swapped the drive into my PS3 slim, which was pretty much the same installation as my older PS3. For anyone interested I used the DIGISTOR 500GB External Hard Drive for Playstation 3 (PS3) - USB 3.0 / 2.0 to complete the transfer easily. Most external hard drives need to be partitioned and formatted to be used with the PS3 file system but this particular drive comes ready to use out of the box. I backed up my hard drive and then recovered it onto my new PS3 slim. It also offers you a piece of mind in case the YLOD strikes in the future.

I'm not a computer expert of any kind, so I could not tell you about performance as far as speed goes compared to something else. My hard drive on my laptop, which I bought refurbished from Dell, got busted after it slipped off an ottoman (whoops on my part). After doing some research and figuring out what kind of hard drive I had, I came across this item. I was very surprised to see this be $17 cheaper than the 250 GB hard drive of the same kind. Of course, I went on to buy this because it meant upgrading to having more for less.I believe I got a pretty good deal out of buying this item. I consider myself a satisfied customer :)

The drive worked for a week and then came a fatal crash that obliged me to format. After a lengthy session to re-install the operating system and personal files (thank god for Time Machine)it worked for a day or two, and now I get the Hardware problem message from disk utility. If this is supposed to work on a Macbook, that's not my case.

I put this HDD in my PS3. It was a 120GB launch slim. Works great. Now I have room for all 34 of my downloadable games (plus patches, updates, dlc, music, movies, etc.)! Great hard drive. I've had 5 seagates now, and I've never had a problem with any of them. Great price too.

This is a great hard drive to buy for any of your computer or game console upgrades. I bought it to upgrade my 60gb PS3 console. If anyone else is looking to do the same, I highly recommend investing in this one or the 500gb hard drive. Just make sure it is 5400rpm or otherwise, if it's any higher, it will overheat your console. Thanks to both Amazon and Seagate for making it possible to get the best out of my PS3.

When my 60GB PS3 abruptly shutdown with the "blinking light of death", I knew it wasn't good. Internet research pointed (if I was lucky), my HDD crashed and needs replacing. This was a great value, without spending the hundreds of dollars while losing my backwards-compatibility. Interchanging the PS3 HDD is super-simple. One black screw, and you simply pull it out of the bay. 4 little screws off, and you'll move the drive harness to your HDD, before re-screwing and sliding back in.But, I wasn't lucky. The blinking light of death mocked me.I wasn't about to spend at least $140 and weeks without my home entertainment center. So I bought this: PlayStation 3 160 GB and replaced the factory drive with the 320GB. In short, spending an extra $50 saved me an extra $50.Note: The HDD harness from the 60GB chassis is not compatible with the 160GB model. It still requires removing one black-headed screw to get to the bay. Just remember to return the little plastic strip *before* returning the screw into its rightful place.Tips:Go to the Playstation web site and download the O/S update.Using a USB flash drive, make a directory named "PS3", underneath that, create a sub-directory named "UPDATE"Make sure the directory names are capitalized.Copy the single update file into the UPDATE folder.Plug in a controller via a USB cable with the PS3.Plug in the flash drive into the PS3 USB port, start the PS3 and read the prompts carefully.(Don't just thumb through them. You'll need to hold specific keys down in unison for 5 seconds.)Your new drive will format, and voila! A new high-capacity PS3.

I needed a small utility drive and already had a case. I chose the Momentus 5400 because I've had great luck with Seagate products, it was a good price, and I didn't need a high performance 7200 RPM drive.It came very well packaged, and with Amazon Prime in 2 days. I installed it into my case, formatted it, and I was ready for testing.After copying a few gigabytes of data on it I can say I was pleasantly surprised at it's performance with the cheap-o USB case I had.it does exactly what I want, at a great price.

I bought this to replace a 160 GB sata drive in my netbook, so I could have enough drive space to comfortably dual boot Windows and Linux. After installation, everything worked as it was supposed to.And it's still working as advertised as I type this.The only thing left to say is that I would buy this drive again if I had a need for it.

I installed this in my PS3 a couple months ago, to upgrade from the measly 60GB of storage space I started with. Installation was simple, and I have had no trouble with the hard drive. I trust the Seagate brand, and I'm very happy with this HDD!

I bought two of these hard drives to upgrade mine and my sons Playstation 3 systemsthe upgrade was easy thanks to Sony and we have had no problems with these hard drives , love the extra storage space for music games ect...
