Великолепно

It seems that the still obscure (Samsung's website does not mention this product!) Samsung F3 HD103SJ is the speed champion, according to "unofficial" benchmarks I found in the internet, but this HD is also fast and has a similar price. It came properly packaged with foam. Does not include cables.

Великолепно

What can I say. This hard drive was the most simple thing to set up. No jumpers to deal with, No IDE cords to find room for. Just 2 simple plugs and VOILA. The hard drive was working. The cost was wonderful. I purchased 2 instead of purchasing a single Tb hard drive.

Unlike the problems some have seen with older revisions of these drives, the newer versions are fast and rock solid. I purchased a pair of these for a RAID 1 mirror, running under Win 2003 and absolutely no problems. As of Oct-09 pricing, the 1.5TB yields the most storage per dollar and is the best value for bulk storage . . . you will not be disappointed. I have no affliation with Seagate or amazon and run my own IT shop at [...].

Великолепно

I bought three of these over a year ago to build a hardware RAID5 array. They have been abused without end for that entire time. When they finaly ran out of space, I bought another one to join them...and it works just as well...no need for special utilities to make this drive work with RAID; this is professional grade.

I purchased this drive on Amazon and used it in an HP MediaSmart EX470 Windows Home Server to increase storage. While playing video from the server the video stream would start to stutter and freeze. I spent 2 months troubleshooting through a strict process of elimination, ruling out the Client PCs, the managed gigabit switch, the HP Server, its software and hardware. When I read of all the problems with the 1.5tb drive I tried removing it from the server,of course everything worked flawlessly with the drive gone, returning the drive to the server the problem continued. Searching the links that the previous review had posted I found many others experiencing this problem. I tried many fo the suggestions such as disabling write cache, I updated the firmware to Brinks-4D8H-SD1B from Seagate's website unfortunately the problem has not been resolved.I chose the 1.5tb drive as the HP sever only has 4 drive bays and I wanted to maximize storage density. Little did I know I would lose nearly 100hrs of my life chasing this problem down. I don't know if Amazon will accept a return, I certainly don't want a replacement drive from Seagate. I also purchased a 1tb Western Digital Caviar Black that has performed well. My next purchase will certainly not be from Seagate.

I don't recommend buying Barracuda 11. Cheap mechanics, loud and hot, many die from firmware errors. Mine didn't came online after reflashing. Couldn't save all the data before this happened. Used Seagate hard drives for many years, now going back to Western Digital.

I have 4 of these drives and one of them all of a sudden told me it was only 500GB. I have a coworker who had the same problem. Seatools allows you to correct this. Not a big deal if you don't have any data on it. However if you do, you will lose it all!!! Two other coworkers have had to return these because of the drive starting to click and then losing sectors. I am putting Seagate on my DO NOT BUY list indefinitely. I suggest you look to Western Digital for any future HD purchases.

Well, this hard drive only get 6/7.9 in the performance index under windows 7l All my other hardware are 7 or higher..but it doesn't freeze or crash like what other comment said I guess the new firmware fixed the problem.

This drive was dead on arrival. I tested it in three machines with the same result: drive does not spin up. It emits a soft, high-pitched, pulsing whine for the first thirty seconds after the power is applied. The platters never spun, and there was no audible actuation of the drive arm.

I replaced the old hard drive that came with the pc i have when I filled it up. This new drive has so much more space and I will be able to save all my files with no problem. This drive also made my computer run faster.

I got my Seagate through Bing Cashback and saved a bundle, and I use it as my daily backup storage (via Retrospect) and I have been very happy. No problems whatsoever and the drive is fast and reliable. For secondary backup I also have a Western Digital drive.

After about a month of use, I'm quite satisfied with this drive. Although on paper it is not as fast as my previous drive (a Samsung, which crashed after about a year of use), I have not noticed any significant difference in performance.I was hesitant to purchase this drive at first because I found numerous negative reviews, mostly complaining about 30-second freezes while playing back media. Seagate has since released new firmware for the drive, and all new drives ship with the updated firmware, and I have never seen the problem on my system.I frequently watch divx movies, listen to music, use Photoshop and play a wide assortment of games, but I've not had any problems at all and everything runs smoothly and quickly.I would recommend this drive to anyone who is looking for lots of bang for the buck and anyone with serious storage needs. I may purchase another of these drives and run it in RAID.

I always had good luck with seagate products and I trust them. I'm happy to say that I've never had one go bad on me yet. I've owned this drive for about a year now and I've had no problems and their very quiet, so I bought 2 more. Highly recommended

I bought two of these 1.5 TB disk drives in Dec 2008 for $120 each and free shipping. I've bought a lot of hard drives dating back to 1982. And this is the first hard drive I've ever had fail in my life. It worked less than a day and now all it does is make clicking noises as if the read head is searching for the track, but cannot find it. The other 1.5 TB drive is working fine. I bought Seagate's 1 TB ST31500341AS NCQ model a few months ago and I think I will buy that model again. That model still uses three 333 GB platters versus three 500 GB platters on the 1.5 GB disk. Furthermore, the NCQ (native command queuing) on the 1 TB model provides significantly faster performance on fragmented files. There is an implied reference to NCQ on the 1.5 TB model, but I cannot find anything in print from Seagate that says it explicitly. I don't think the 500 GB platters in the 1.5 TB disks are quite ready for prime time. It is probably best to wait another six months to a year for this higher density technology to mature.Update;I received a replacement unit very promptly, and other than the fact the replacement is refurbished, it works. However, this replacement hard drive is still a little noisy, especially compared to the other new one I bought. (Originally bought two, one failed) But it has been a few months now and both are still working.

A disk drive to me is one of those things that don't get much notice unless they don't work well. I don't notice this one. It works well and seems to be fairly fast. It's quiet. It has a SATA connection. It has more space than most people could reasonably use.Since I have little interest in running tests to determine actual figures for maximum burst speed and so on that's about all I can say and all I care about. Well, I care about reliability too, but how can I comment on that at this early stage? I have to trust Seagate's reputation for that - and take backups!You get a heck of a lot of space for a very reasonable price with this drive. If I was building another machine in the near future I'd certainly buy another.

Unlike many (most?) SATA 2 drives, this drive in its current production run does not have the jumper that allows you to lock the drive in the 150 MB/sec mode to be compatible with some older SATA interfaces.
