I purchased this item 2 weeks back and am pretty satisfied. I am using this for watching TV as well as for my home office. Only problem is that I cannot switch it off remotely as this does not have a remote. HD quality is great!

Works great with the normal video cable. The contrast is fantastic. I have implants due to glaucoma and the text jumps right out compared to the original 21" Apple Studio Monitor it replaced.

The Samsung SyncMaster 910MP has one of the cleanest, clearest pictures I've ever seen. You hear a lot about ghosting in LCD panels these days, and this monitor simply does not have such a problem. It's solidly constructed which is quite in contrast to most other brands. The built in TV tuner which will work in either PAL (european) or NTSC (north american) regions, only makes working or playing on the computer so much more fun. Also, if you subscribe to cable, this monitor, just like any TV is compatible. Essentially, if one were so inclined, this monitor can actually replace a TV as it has all of the neccesary functionality. You can, with the press of a button, either on the monitor itself or the included remote control, switch from PC to TV mode instantaneously, no need to close any applications. What's more is if you don't want to use the entire screen for TV viewing, you can hit the "Picture in Picture" button and watch TV in a small corner while continuing to work with whatever application you have open at the time. As the TV function is built into the monitor, it takes nothing from the performance of the PC. The built in speakers provide clear, crisp sound; and as far as built in speakers go, certainly among the best. Don't get me wrong though, they are no replacement for a externally amplified multiple speaker surround sound set-up though. I would imagine, considering the size of the monitor, which is quite large, you might actually, after setting it up, consider creating some sort of home theatre sound system for the PC, particularly gamers. As I said, the picture quality, brightness, makes this idea worthwile to toy around with. Setting up the monitor was easy. Just plug it in and it and Windows pretty much does the rest. The remote control, every bit as solid as the monitor itself, is a really nice feature, and the designers clearly made sure not to dissapoint end users. Another thing you hear about regarding LCD monitors is the analog or digital input. While this monitor does not have the digital connector to hook up to your PC, it does have the analog. Computer magazines and hardware review sites make a big deal about this, but the truth is there is no difference in the quality of picture you see. Well, maybe if your using a magnifying glass in front of the screen all of the time under perfect lighting conditions you will notice a very slight difference, but the truth is, it's one of those things that's simply nice to have, but, once you have it you say, "what's the point". So don't be turned off by the fact that it doesn't have that digital connector. Samsung also sells the SyncMaster 930MP, which is, according to the numbering and pricing, better than this, however, I spent quite a lot of time looking at both models and the 930MP is definitely an inferior model with regards to picture quality. I don't know why Samsung produces that model, but for sure, if you have the option, go for the 910MP.Well, to sumarize everything, the SyncMaster 910MP is a solid, high quality, high clarity LCD monitor with absolutely no ghosting found in most other models and has FULL TV functionality that works independently of the PC. The included accesories, like the remote control, are every bit as solid as the monitor itself. As with all LCD panels, before you buy, check the model you will be taking home in the store first to make sure no dead pixels exist. I highly recommend this monitor, and am sure if you bought this monitor, you won't be dissapointed either.

After my 21 inch trinitron monitor started to go, i decided it was finally time to jump into the flatscreen arena. My desk is now supporting 50 less pounds, is much more open and i couldn't be happier. All thanks to Samsung's 173P monitor.For the longest time, i've been one to say, "there's no way any flat screen could ever match (let alone beat) my trinitron in terms of image quality." Once the trinitron began to die, the idea of purchasing a new 60 pound beast with the knowledge that lighter and sleeker looking monitors are availabe, was not too appealing to be honest. So i began to search around online.Quite quickly, i arrived at the conclusion that i wanted a Samsung LCD. i found an endless supply of accolades for Samsung's LCDs. i thought about the apple cinemawide monitor, but i absolutely despise apple as a company, and the technology in their cinema displays is outdated anyway - thus my decision to go with Samsung was finalized. I narrowed my choices down to either the 172X or the 173P.I initially purchased the 172X. The 12ms pixel refresh rate really hooked me. Ghosting has plagued LCD's since they first came about. The idea of no ghosting, really made me feel comfortable purchasing my first LCD. I received the 172X and was impressed by the sleek look and the small footprint of this monitor. There was absolutely no ghosting. However, as was said before in an earlier review here, the viewing angle is ATTROCIOUS on this monitor. Even when looking at this monitor dead on, it can still be difficult to aviod seeing washed out colors...bright whites melting into yellows, deep reds bleeding into pink. It was really dissappointing. So, after about a week with the 172X, i decided to send it back and shell out another 50 dollars for the Samsung 173P monitor... boy, was it worth it. The Samsung 172X monitor looks great, but the 173P monitor one ups it. Even before you turn it on, this monitor wows you with it's design. There are NO buttons on the face of the monitor, minus the touch sensitive power button and input changing button (hold your finger there for a moment and the monitor will turn on or off with a beep, keep your finger there for a few seconds and the inputs will change. very cool.) The power light on this monitor is a blue led which also looks really nice. But it's when you turn this monitor on that you truly realize just how great it is. Text on this monitor is razor sharp, where text on the 172X was merely very sharp. Color vibrance on this monitor beats the 172X, which is already great. While the 172X has a 500:1 contrast ratio, (how bright colors look) the 173P has a contrast ratio of 700:1, and it shows. The brightness of the 173P is very much superior to the 172X. The biggest problem with the 172X, the terrible viewing radius, is not only alleviated, but a "claimed" 178 degree viewing angle, sets an indrustry high water mark in this area and equates to stunning performance in this respect. While maybe not quite 178 degrees as Samsung claims, the viewing radius is VERY close to this, as looking at the monitor flat from the side reveals only a slight degredation of color quality. Whether you are looking at this monitor dead on, or very nearly entirely from the side, the colors stay rich and vibrant. And most surprising, despite the slower refresh rate of the 173P, i found there to be NO GHOSTING in games. If i would have known ghosting would have been a non-issue with this monitor, i never would have bothered with the 172X in the first place.NO DEAD PIXELS were found on the 173P and this was a very pleasant discovery. My 172X had 1 dead pixel, which, while annoying, was by by no means the reason i was dissatisfied with it. After coming from the trinitron, i can not believe how well the 173P performs. Unlike trinitron monitors, there are NO geometry issues. Straight lines are straight and not bowed in or out. Constant adjustments to picture size and geometry are no longer necessary. Degaussing every day is no longer necessary. Colors are so much more vibrant and accurate on this LCD monitor that i can not explain how much better pictures online or from my digital camera look than on the trinitron. It is quite simply, a revelation. Lastly, the space saved and super-swank aesthetics of this monitor really do make it an ultra high-class product. Just remember that this monitor does not come cheap. At around 600 dollars, it is the most expensive 17" LCD monitor out there. Also, while crts are measured by screen and frame size, lcd's are measured by viewable size. So, while a 17" crt offers less than 17" of viewable screen size, a 17" LCD actually offers 17" of viewable space. If you want the best 17" lcd money can buy, you would be making a mistake buying anything other than the Samsung 173P monitor.

Pros:Solid image quality. Great adjustable stand. DVI and VGA inputs. 16x10 display is great for movies. 1680x1050 resolution.Cons:The black levels aren't that great. Not as bright as I would like (especially compared to my macbook pro). The viewing angle is pretty bad. The cable management system is a joke (the clip does not do much).Overall, it is a solid monitor for the price.

I really like this monitor, have had it for about 6 months or so. I upgraded from an iBook and didn't realize how dim I was used to see my work! I work in design and have to edit images, layout mags, etc with my monitor so it's gotta be friendly to the eye and relatively color accurate (not a photographer so it doesn't need to be 'perfect').I will share the same complaint about the hinge. I guess I am also a little bit bummed that the base is so big, but I knew that going in...just miss the desk space now. I can tell you right now there is no way my monitor ever, even when it was brand new, stood as high and straight up as the one pictured here though. I just tried again, it's like trying to straighten out my grandmother...it just isn't going to happen without breaking something.So, to sum up, it would get a 5 if the hinge were better and the software worked with a mac. The mac does recognize the features of the monitor (rotate, color calibration, etc) on it's own so I don't know how much of the software I am missing out on...usually end up turning that stuff off anyway.

I love the image quality of this screen, but it has developed the same trouble staying above desk level that other users have reported. A few months after I installed it, the arm stopped being able to hold it up, and I have had to resort to jamming a squishy rubber ball into the joint of the arm, just to keep it a little bit above desk level. Also, I can also confirm that the software included with the screen has many problems - I had to uninstall it as well. Get the next model!

Most folks report good things about this monitor and I don't doubt them but my experience has so far been very different. I bought this unit in late August. The unit arrived in perfect working order and with NO dead pixels. The monitor was truly beautiful with great color depth and high contrast and like all LCDs - no reflections. Very easy to use and watch. But at the end of 3 weeks of use a black horizontal line about 10 pixels high showed up about an 1/8th of the way down the screen. I tried refreshing the screen believing it was an artifact of the video card's refresh logic but that didn't make it go away so I tried rebooting the machine - and the screen came back in a series of 1 inch high bands of dark and light pink horizontally across the screen. I contacted Samsung support to get a replacement instead of contacting the original seller in the belief the turnaround would be faster since Samsung offered to immediately send a replacement to the nearest UPS store. But when that unit arrived approximately 5 days later it was also defective - it worked at first but after one hour the screen started turning on and off randomly. I contacted Samsung for a replacement and they have yet to schedule a unit to replace it. They have a 7-14 day window in their warranty replacement guarantee - but it starts from the date of the ticket and instead of admitting the first ticket's replacement unit was defective they opened a new ticket. It's been two full weeks since I had a working unit and will be at least another week before I get a replacement because "they had some trouble setting the serial numbers straight."

We purchased two of these monitors to replace older LCD monitors that stopped working. The monitor does everything we expected.Set up in not intuitive but is OK if you read the instructions. Resolution is good for normal viewing but there is some banding if you are viewing a screen with mostly light colors. This is acceptable as I have observed it on other monitors.It leaves a bit to be desired when used as a TV but the PIP is very good. Again this was the same with our older monitors.I would recommend this monitor if you are looking for a dual function monitor at a reasonable price.

I have nothing but praise for the image quality. I can't imagine how anything could look better than the output of the 970P.It's just that darn hinge, after 6 months it started sagging and now it sits 1" off my desk. I put a rubber cement bottle under the screen and now it sits at the right height.

Hi! I bought this monitor about 1 year ago (not from Amazon), and recently I experienced what everyone else here was saying too: the hinge started to droop and sag, and no longer support the monitor!Well, I called customer service (from Samsung's website) and explaining the issue, they said they would send me a replacement base free of charge. It was their suggestion (so I didn't have to fight with them or anything), they did not even ask when I bought it! So, it seems they are making amends by just replacing the base (and hinge arm) free of charge to people who have a problem.So, the moral of the story is, if you have this monitor and its giving you issues, don't give up hope! Just give them a call and get a replacement! and you never know, they may have revised the base since then and improved it, so the new one might not do that. Good luck!

This monitor is great value of you don't really care about the accuracy of color. It's quite bright and has great contrast though it has an occasional faint swarming grain that does not go away with auto-adjust. You may or may not notice the grain. I tried for over an hour to get the colors calibrated and eventually gave up. It has a few pre-defined color profiles and they are all useless and wildy inaccurate. Colors are bright and over-saturated because they are clipped so it's pretty, just not accurate.For games and text it's probably great but side-by-side with a good quality LCD you can definitely tell the difference. I would pass on this one if you do any photo editing or create graphics people are going to look at on other monitors.

I've purchased this monitor, because my eyes had trouble seeing small things on my 19" CRT monitor. This one is 20.1 and does not sound like much more, but it is. LCD screens give you the true size, while CRT say they have more then they actually do. I ran my old monitor at 800x600, which turned out to be a problem with some websites. I was looking for something that allows a larger resolution, without going into small prints. I know windows lets you enlarge characters, but it does not effect images.Not to long a go, I did buy one of the new Microsoft keyboards that has a natural curve to it to help with my writs. It does help a lot by they way, but what I really liked was the little switch that lets you enlarge or reduce fonts in the browser.Anyway, back to this monitor. I run it at 1024x768 and the resolution is just perfect. I love the crisp pictures and the great colors. This company thought about their product for a long while. It even has a utility that matches real photos through a scanner to your monitor. True colors through and through.Overall, no more problems with high resolution websites, and my eyes can finally relax. One more important thing, the installation was a breeze. This was the easiest I have seen in a long while.I also like the option that you can rotate the monitor from vertical to horizontal. Works great with Word documents. I've found that you should guide your power and monitor cable around the right side to the merger clip behind. This makes it a smooth rotate. For some reason the manual suggest to go left and right, which kind of makes it harder to rotate because of one cable being in the way. Not a real issue, just keep them to the right side and it does not happen.I can only recommend this monitor.

As many others in cyberspace who bought this monitor have noted, the fundamentally flawed design of this monitor means that the monitor sags because the hinge design cannot support its weight. While it looks good, and I have no problems with the speed or brightness of the display, the fact that Samsung made such a bad design when it comes to the way the monitor is supposed to work really irks me, especially since I paid a premium for the looks and am now resigned to propping up the monitor with a book. Do not buy this monitor! Get one that is better designed.

I was wary of LCDs. My belief was that the only good LCDs came from Apple and those still weren't good enough in comparison to one of my huge bulky Trinitron behemoths...But when I decided to build a new top of the line computer, I did some research, and according to the folks on Anandtech this was the best monitor you could get, hands down. So, I did.And I am very happy. This is a great monitor, it's bright, vibrant, and attractively housed. The "arm" that holds is is a huge help, allowing you to adjust the monitor into any position that suits you... as someone who sits in odd positions and likes to move around my desk, being able to rotate/raise and lower/spin the monitor around is a great great help. Admittedly the arm makes it shaky if you have an unstable desk (I use a cheap Ikea table with four legs so it's wobbly), but it's not even noticeable really. The arm is a great advantage over my friend's LCDs which do not rotate or move at all! I couldn't imagine dealing with a monitor I have to physically move entirely to move the screen around.Despite complaints of being a 6bit instead of an 8bit monitor, a fact that I can attest to since I have done comparisons, I've had no issues with color reproduction and nothing seems iffy, but I don't do "professional" work on this monitor.For normal PC use and gaming, I don't really think you can do much better. It's pricey, but the arm, the quality of the screen, and the general attractiveness is worth it.As a side note, the Samsung software that comes with the monitor is complete rubbish. It hard-locks my machine every time I try to use it and I would recommend against using it. The screen came out of the box almost perfect as far as color and brightness levels go. The rest I could adjust using NVIDIA's driver color control applet. I'd recommend doing that and staying away from the Samsung software.

Being mostly a gamer, but on the side a digital photographer and programmer/network specialist, I can say this monitor truly stands out for it's 2D quality. The 3D graphics accleration however, is not something to go crazy about. The 5ms response time is certainly accurate, yet if you're searching for that particular game monitor that has the least ghosting when put up against a CRT, you should stick with a more "Sonic" brand name. They seem to have the edge as far as response time goes. Aside from the drawback for gaming, the monitor is perfect for any other use. While watching movies, you'll get a slight "twinkling" effect around certain high contrast color edges, but you'll only notice it if you're seeking it out. Enjoy the movie, don't critique the monitor. The 2D color rendering is some of the best I've seen out of the box in an LCD. If the color is not to your liking straight off though, Samsung gives you a fantastic suite of calibration tools to help you make sure what you're seeing is true color as measured by science. The niftiest color tool is the one to make sure what you see is what you print (on paper I mean). Everything else the monitor does is just icing on the cake. MagicRotation, MagicBrite, color presets, and much much more. Of note for those who are trying to remain future-tech conscious; this monitor is NOT HDCP certified or compliant so don't expect it to be the Windows Media Center PC monitor for your next upgrade (or for Windows Vista). I didn't keep it because of the slight (very slight) ghosting in games. That's just because I'm an extreme nitpicker when it comes to my gaming experience. If you want visual real-estate, great color, nifty gadgets, and the all around good looks (case-wise) in an LCD, certainly go for it. If you want the best of the best for gaming, continue looking.

This LCD monitor is an excellent buy. Good contrast with height adjustment. No dead pixels. But if you are using it mainly for text, EIZO will be a better choice. I put the two monitors side by side and I could tell the difference. There is a power button next to where you attach the power cord to the LCD monitor. Remember to turn THAT power button on or you may find yourself looking at a dead monitor. I have 3 LCD monitors on my desk and this Samsung monitor presents the best value. I am very happy with this Samsung monitor and I'd buy another one after I replace my desk.

I read the above reviews before ordering my 910MP. In the end, I listened to the positive reviews and attributed the negative to people expecting something for nothing. I have been happy with any Samsung product I have purchased and this is no exception. The PIP feature is wonderful. The full size picture is not high definition but looks fine if you back off a couple of feet. This is just what I expected after the research I did and I consider this unit a wonderful value at $400!

I purchased a 970P at a local retailer who is closing shop, but not after reading many reviews by owners and magazines as well. I was struck initially by the beauty of this monitor and then by the lack of controls on the monitor albeit the power button. My fist computer has a digital input and the installation went smoothly and the setup was timely and clean. The results were so stunning, that I went back to the store two days later to purchase another one; the last one in stock. Once again, the installation went smoothly. Prior to purchasing the monitors, I downloaded the manual from Samsung.com and read the installation instructions and familiarized myself with the controls beforehand.. The auto rotation feature worked without a hitch after first selecting the degree of swivel from the software and it is all automatic. All I can say is WOW! I was so lucky to have gotten two at such a bargain price. The 2-section lift and swivel base work flawlessly. You gotta get this one - - well maybe even two!!

I concur with the previous reviews. There is one thing that I want to add.My wife liked this monitor in the store. But, she had been using a 21" CRT at 1024 x 768, and I was very concerned that a jump from there to 1600 x 1200 would be more of a font size reduction than she bargained for. And, my general feeling about LCD's is that, if you don't use them at their native resolution, they don't look all that good.I'm happy to report that I was right and wrong. 1600 x 1200 WAS too much of a change (fonts too small), which was the bad news. She settled for 1152 x 864 as to the smallest fonts that she could deal with (yeah, I know I could specify "large fonts" in Windows, but that breaks quite a few things).The good news is that this monitor looks absolutely great at 1152 x 864, even though that is not it's native resolution. Whatever they have done, they sure have improved the way these monitors, or at least THIS monitor, interpolates pixels, as must be done when the monitor is used at a non-native resolution. Note that 1152 x 864 preserves the exact 4/3 ratio that the monitor has in it's 1600 x 1200 native resolution.The result wasn't quite as good when I tried using it with 1280 x 1024 output from the display card. If that is what you plan to do, you should check it out someplace before buying.So, if that particular consideration was a concern that you had, particularly if 1152 x 864 is a resolution that you think might be a good one for you, check out this monitor. I think that you will be pleasantly surprised.

I own this monitor for 11 months.I must say that the image (color&contrast) on this monitor is excelent,but the weak point of this monitor is the stand (supporting-arm)!After 6-7 months arm could not support the screen weight and dropped considerably making it useless. I have placed cardboard box between screen and bottom base.It is definetively faulty design. One can check for itself on the web that many buyers faced this before 1 (one) year of usage.Screen itself can not be detached from the arm. Ergo mount on the wall is not possible. And also base is quite big takeing a lot of space.Actually it is too bad that such a great display has such a basic fault.

For a regular user that doesn't require espectacular features, don't know about the details, ratios...thats the perfect lcd monitor. The image is very clear, colorful and the screen size is big enough to work, type, for internet and games.The price is reasonable, and its perfectly matched to what the device is worth.NO GOOD: no DVI cable. Just couldnt understand why. It's just a cable!

I have used two of these 191T monitors in my office for almost three years. One has been flown across the country (in a Pelican 1610 case, which now costs about the same as the monitor) a few times and is no worse for wear. They are both great monitors. We use them mostly in portrait mode for word processing and for viewing .pdf files of letter-size documents. We turn them to landscape mode for spreadsheets.The included PivotPro software v.768 is pretty bad. It works on my laptop with an unsupported Intel graphics card (82852/82855), which gives me an extended screen, with the laptop in landscape mode at 800x600 and the monitor in portrait mode in 1024x768. The other monitor (on a desktop system) runs at 1024x768 on a NVidia card that includes a pivot feature, so it does not run the PivotPro software. I suggest using a graphics card that lets you avoid using the PivotPro software.

This monitor worked perfectly for the first 3 weeks. Was absolutely satisfied with price & quality. Unfortunately after 3 weeks, I had an entire horizontal line of dead pixels right in the middle of the screen. My first samsung purchase & I am not happy that I have to get a refund from samsung because they are out of stock on this model. I have been informed that the refund will take anywhere between 6 to 8 weeks. So what they are telling me is that I will have to ship back the monitor & wait 8 weeks to get a refund & in the interim I wont have a monitor. Very very upset.

the Samsung 206bw is a newer version of this monitor. cost is comparable. image quality should be better.

I just replaced a 19" Sony Trinitron CRT with this monitor and my only regret is that I didn't go Digital LCD sooner! What a difference! As sharp as the Trinitron is, this Samsung will eat it for breakfast....and here is the reasons why- Eye Strain- Goodbye eye strain! Flicker free images....no glare...nice sharp text and edges. Colors- The reds are red and the blacks are black and the whites are BRIGHT!...no bleeding or faded colors. I work extensively with Photoshop and Illustrator....The colors are true and crisp with this monitor and this is the big issue that keeps most graphics designers from going to LCD.. well, this and price. Believe me, this monitor is worth every penny and the colors are more vivid than you'll ever get from a CRT. Functionality- This baby can be tilted and turned in uncountable positions. You can actually tilt the screen 90 degrees to view the display on it's vertically longer side... the included Pivot Pro software will flip the text and images on the screen for you....this is great for MS Word, surfing the net and etc.. because you don't have to scroll as much. Adjustments- The feature that makes this LCD so user friendly is the feature that it lacks...buttons! There is a power-on button and that's it...everything is controlled with the included Magic Tune software...No More clumsy menus! The software is a breeze to use and your results come much quicker than with the typical button layout found on other monitors. One cool thing about the included software is that it has a color calibration feature so that what you see on the screen is what you get when you print to paper. This is great for anyone that uses Photoshop or similiar image editing software because "What you see is what you get"... software like this is fairly expensive if you had to purchase by itself. Digital- If you use the DVI output on this monitor all you need to do is plug it in and adjust the contrast, resolution, and brightness...color adjustment is spot-on with no adjustment necessary when you go digital. Have I mentioned brightness?....this LCD can be adjusted to be very BRIGHT! Reputation and Warranty- The 173P was voted best 17" LCD by Ziff Davis (www.zdnet.com) and CNet.com. Read the reviews and you'll soon see why this bad boy is untouchable. You get a great 3 year warranty with this monitor, and if you fill out the registration and send it in within 10 days of the purchase date you'll get an extra 3 months added to the warranty. It's packaged very nicely and comes with all the necessary cables and software to have you up and running in a few minutes time. Just be sure to go to the control panel (Windows OS) and adjust the resolution to 1280 x 1024 (native LCD resolution). I do have one gripe about the resolution. I'm used to using 1024 x 768 on a 19" CRT....going to 1280 x 1024 does make the icons and text a little smaller, but it's still well worth it! I'm slowly adjusting to this and I almost prefer this resolution over the other now. You can use this LCD in whatever resolution you want but you'll notice a big difference if it's not set to the recommended 1280 x 1024. That about sums it up. If you're weighing cost vs. quality then you're wasting your time. This monitor is worth it. You can keep my Sony Trinitron and 10 others just like it for the 173P...there's no comparison and this is the BEST 17" out there!

I needed to save space in my room and my desk. This works great with my mac G4 and when you hook up a dvd player to it , it really stands out with its resolution. as a tv , I am satisfied. some stations which show old TV shows look grainy but the tv shows which broadcast quality programming and HDTV signals really look good.Like I said, overall I am satisfied. Would I like a hi def plasma TV and a Mac cinema monitor, you bet but I can't afford it nor do i have the room.

For the price, this is a monitor that can't be beat. I had to reduce the icons on my desktop because they were so big!

I use this monitor for AutoCad, internet surfing, and games.This monitor seems like a huge upgrade from a 19" monitor. I expected to barely notice the size differance but it is very noticable.THe adjustments on the monitor seem to work alright. It tilts back and forth, swivels from side to side, goes up and down, and rotates. All of the movements are smooth. The only problem here is when you rotate the screen the cords in the back don't allow for a smooth turn.I got zero dead pixels.The colors are very nice. The picture is sharper than a 19" LCD. Because you should run this monitor in it's 1600x1200 native resolution you will probably want to use Windows to increase the size of fonts so you can easily read the text. Speaking of text, it looks good to me.So far I have only tried Battlefied 2 on this monitor. I was really worried about this area since many LCD monitors don't do well with games. Don't woory about this monitor it performs nicely. I actually noticed little details in the game I had not noticed before. I did not see ghosting or blurring. I flew around the jet for a long time with no visual problems.I did 3 months of research before I pulled the trigger on this one. I was quite nervous as these things don't come cheap. I'm glad I bought this monitor and would not hesitate to make the same choice again.

I love the monitor, it's sleek, performs well, but...1) the software supplied (the only way to make adjustments) would periodically crash my system when taxed, esp scrolling through large excel/spss/data files (aka work). Uninstalling was the only cure.2) the stand looks great... but, after about 6 months, I noticed the monitor started to sag - the large single bent hinge in back could no longer support the screen, and would not stay up at maximum height. If I have to resort to stacking books under the screen to support it, it's going back...

I use this monitor at work every day. It is great. Very bright and works with analog or digital signals. You won't be dissappointed with this or any other Samsung monitor.

Excellent monitor. The box that it came in however was greatly dented in shipping due to inadequate packaging. But fortunately it still worked fine.

I waited for a while to upgrade to a flat panel monitor. I read many reviews before purchasing this 204B. I play BF2, COD2, Medal of Honor, online games. I think this monitor is the perfect size and has nice clarity for text and pictures. It also plays games well with seemingly no lag or hesitation with it's 5ms refresh rate. I use it with 2 computers, my gamer on digital and my general use machine on analog. I can switch between the two machines with a touch of a button on the front of the monitor. It makes it nice for multitasking for gaming on one machine and editing pictures, scanning, emails, ect. on the other machine. I give Samsung an A+ for this beautiful LCD monitor. I bought this monitor on 3/19/06 and have decided to buy another one today 3/23/06. I believe anyone that buys this monitor will be happy they did, I know I am........Cheers!

I think it's a good monitor (good black from a TFT, high contrast, no much ghosting and the overshooting is not relevant in practice), BUT there are two negative surprises you should be aware of:- Despite the widespread belief, this monitor is not 8 bit (aka 24 bit), but only 6 bit (aka 18 bit), and uses standing 2x2 dithering (not FRC) to seemingly achieve more colors! Or at least the ones that I have seen did. This can be a problem for graphic works. And, 2x2 dithering only gives 16.2M, not that 16.7M you see in the specs. Anyway, if you want to know more, search for /970P dithering/ or /970P "6 bits"/ in google (without the /-es).- MagicTune: This software is the only way of addjusting your monitor. And it has stabiliy problems on some systems, also can start slowly on some systems, which is annoying. Also it's sad that there is only one customizable MagicBright setting.

I've had really good experiences with Samsung LCD monitors, so when I saw this model I really didn't think twice about picking it up. Unfortunately, I've learned my lesson the hard way to always do the research first before buying anything like this. The monitor case itself is very nicely designed, but the picture resolution while watching television was unbelievably poor. At first I suspected loose cables, or perhaps something was misconfigured but that wasn't the case at all. Then I flipped through the manual and found a section that tried to explain WHY the television reception was lousy (not a good enough explanation). Needless to say I returned it. If you are looking for a solution that allows you to watch television on the same monitor and speakers you use with your computer I would highly recommend as an alternative AverMedia's "TVBox 9". This is a very impressive product that is compact, comes with a remote, and is reasonably priced.

For the money this Monitor is great, especially if you are using it just for surfing or word-processing! It has some of the best specs out there such as very fast response and natural looking colors.HOWEVER, its not the right choice for pro-level graphic design or photo editing. The viewing angle is so limited that there is a major vertical shift in brightness of the screen. No matter how I adjust, the top of the screen remains significantly darker than the bottom. The contrast is on this thing is also a problem. It's not balanced and although colors seem rich, a lot of detail is lost.If you are doing graphics related work, save yourself the headache. My unit is going back tomorrow!

This is a sleek-looking LCD monitor with excellent viewing characteristics. However, if your desk is not rock-steady, you should probably look for something else. My mate got one of these and since our desks are docked to each other, any vibration from my side propagates to her side and makes the monitor screen shake annoyingly. It's the very construction of the stand that makes this happen, since the other monitor she uses is not affected, and it's equipped with an ordinary stand.If you have a steady desk you should not have to worry about this.Since others mention that the Magic Tune driver caused stability problems, I will also confirm this. We had to uninstall the driver and thus could not adjust the monitor, since it has no hardware controls.

Used as monitor, the image is very sharp and clear. I haven't seen that many different monitors, but I think this is the best I have seen.Used as a TV the picture is low quality. Fuzzy and indistinct. The TV picture is notably lower in quality than the picture on a similar sized cheap new regular color TV. If you plan to use this as a TV you will be disappointed, I think. If you think it will have the very good quality of an LCD TV you will be very disappointed. I looked up in the manual the part about troubleshooting picture quality and there is an explanation that the quality may be not as good as expected due to the TV image being translated into monitor form, so I think the manufacturer anticipated this question coming up.The Picture in Picture (PIP) function is pretty nice. The PIP picture is still fuzzy, but it is not so noticeable in the smaller PIP.Video put in through the RCA video jack has the same quality problem as the TV tuner picture. The white areas are seen as gray and the picture is fuzzy.It has a nice remote and is easy to work with with in changing functions and the menus and all.I hope these thoughts may be of some use.

I've had this monitor for just a few weeks, and exchanged it for an HP model after it has developed multiple dead pixels (about one pixel per week). The Samsung warranty policy on dead pixels for a 19-inch monitor requires you to have at least 7 dead pixels for a replacement - which means that you will be stuck if there are only 6 dead pixels or the 7th pixel appears after the warranty expires.The TV quality is very poor, although the monitor and speaker quality is pretty good. The monitor also runs too hot compared to most others models I have seen.

great monitor, good price, i have owned mine for the better part of two years now. i have recommended it to all my friends, and four others have the same one and they seem very happy with it. Clear text, and fantastic picture quality. everything is included and although it does the Pivot deal with the picture, never really used it. it has adjustable height and tilt. only problem with this monitor is i cannot find another one. Samsung has other models out but this one is discontinued. i'd recommend this monitor for anyone that spends SERIOUS time in front of the computer.

I just got the monitor yesterday. After plugging into my computer, I found the monitor was too bright. Unfortunately, my graphics card has no option to adjust the brightness, so I had to adjust the brightness to 0 on the monitor. Some menu controls, color for example, were "Not Available." It came with a base which cannot swirl. I could not see 3D-feel on small icons as they used to be on my 20" CRT monitor, but large pictures were great.

I love Samsung LCD's for many reasons. This one is a multi-functional one. As the specs suggests it has a built in TV TUNER so you can watch TV when you are tired of graphic design or while you are still designing:) It comes with built in speakers that are much better quality than I was expecting in from built in speakers. As a PC monitor the price is well justified: Very good picture quality, nice speakers, intuitive menu, fast response time -yes, fast means no ghosting during games-, uniform color throughout the screen. As an LCD TV it is better than average but not excellent or anything close to excellent. However, it gets the job done quite nicely. If you have a lot of money to spend it has a sibling called 930MP which is superior to this one. Overall, I am very satisfied with what 910 MP can deliver.

I'm a digital artist and I wanted to spend more money on my machine rather than monitor, so I tried this one out and love it. I have two of them. They don't have a usb hub or anything like that. It is what it is.. a simple monitor that works great. Took a little tweaking to get the resolution and color right (with my mac) but its got great color and is just what I need. I'll probably get two more for my other system and dump my CRT's.

While I have no experience with other LCD monitors(I upgraded from a CRT) so far I have been pleasantly surprised with the color and sharpness of the 940B. I could not locate any dead pixels. I have read other reviews and agree that the display isbright, but with a little tweaking it is not overwhelming. No DVIcable was a shortcoming. Amazon delivery was outstanding! We really like our new Samsung SyncMaster 970P 19" LCD Monitor. It's very large and all the displays are easy to read and use. It is also quite flexible - I've been able to program my desktop in a way most easy for me to use. And the monitor itself, although large, is flat and doesn't take up a lot of desk space.

This is an excellent LCD monitor. After upgrading from my Benq FP581s - a 15 inch LCD, it is mind boggling. The Colours are great and the brightness just right - not overwhelming. I do Photography (digital) and so-far the results are great.I'd like to edit this review a little (Nov 06).Nice monitor and colours, but hard to match to printing, causes me a lot of pain.

As a monitor, this unit is very nice -- especially if you would like television as a picture-in-picture (at 20% of the full screen). However, as a fullscreen television it is not at all acceptable. Samsung would have done better to disable this feature and sold the item for what it actually can do.I wanted to replace both a TV and a monitor; this unit will NOT satisfactorily do that. A better alternative is to purchase an excellent LCD monitor at half the cost and use the rest of the money to apply toward a good television.
