I put one of these into an old, fat PS3 and also into one of the newer, thin ones. It was simple to put it into both. The old, fat PS3 updated the firmware on its own, however, the newer, thin one, required a flash drive with the newest firmware downloaded on it. The older PS3 asked for internet connection information when it was started up, but the older one asked for the firmware first and internet connection after. I did this to store ripped movies, and sure can store a lot now.

Started doing alot more downloading of games on my PS3 and my 160GB hardrive was filling up and I was constantly erasing stuff so I could download something. Well, not anymore! Very easy to swap out your ps3 hardrive for this one and this 1TB was the best price on a new one that I could find without waiting for a sale or something like that. Works flawlessly with ps3. I bought 2 of these, one for me and one for a friend and helped him do the swap and the other 1TB hardrive works fine with his older ps3 as well. No complaints here at all. And check youtube for videos on how to do the swap. Easier than you think and well worth the time spent doing it.

Working great in my PS3 as a replacement for a 320G drive. Just plan on a couple of days to back up and restore from these large drives.

Drive is a little disappointing. The capacity is nice, but it will not wake from sleep mode, so when using it under Windows 7 you can only use hibernate. I understand this has to do with the capacity of the drive, but I tried everything -- including a full wipe and reinstall of Windows 7 -- to no avail. BIOS fixes have no effect either... it's the drive.Also, the throughput on the drive is noticeably slooowww... from booting, to opening programs, to saving or transferring files, it is a real dog. Again, even with a completely clean install of Windows, free from any other programs or bloatware, the system runs at noticeably slower speed than with a different drive.I would not recommend this drive. I will likely have to yank it out soon, and use a different model.

Look no further. I bought this drive to upgrade my PS3 Slim from a 160 gig and had no problems at all! It took maybe 5 minutes to switch out the drives and the system runs perfectly! If you're unsure of what all is required, there is a full on step-by-step guide on the internet.Just use your search engine and type Complete Guide to Replacing a PS3 Hard DriveThe main this you need is a way to back-up your current drive before switching the two so you can restore everything to the new drive. Also keep in mind that with the more data that is on your original drive, the longer the entire data management process will take. I had maxed out my 160 gig before upgrading so between the back-up and restore it took nearly 12 hours or so. Still, well worth the purchase. I couldn't be happier!

Perfect for your PS3 hard drive upgrade, i been using this for a while now & i have absolutely no issues with this drive what so ever .Great for internal data / space, for your PS3 being on Official or custom firmware.. (EDIT) ,November 3rd 1 year later this drive is still kicking in my PS3. I use it for 16hrs a day,movies & play games. I am buying another for my 4th PS3 :) Excellent drive & has not failed me.

My PS3 250gig filled up faster than I ever thought possible. It took me longer to get it out of the box than it did to install! Updated my system and BAM! good to go :D

This was installed in an external, bus powered enclosure, and send to a friend. Works great for them and I was happy with the purchase as well.

I upgraded the old 80GB hard-drive from my ps3 and replaced it with the Samsung. I turned on the ps3 and it recognized the new hard-drive without any problems.I highly recommend this hard-drive as an upgrade for the ps3.

I replaced the small hard drive in my 2009 Macbook Pro with this one from Samsung. It is great to have so much space!The instalation was relatively painless. I had to pick up a special screwdriver to finish. I would recommend looking up a how to video and ordering the tools when you order the hard drive.I then purchased the Vantec NexStar TX 2.5-Inch SATA to USB 2.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure and converted my old hard drive into a great back up device.I am not a computer tech, but replacing the hard drive and memory in my Mac has been easy.

I have three of these running in laptops for my Karaoke business. One is a year old Ive had no problems with it. This drive fits in the standard laptop bay and is one of the only TB size drives to do this. Only long term service will tell if it holds up as well as the others, but even seagate and WD are having those problems so always have a back up? So far all 3 drives are trouble free.

I have a 40GB PS3 (3rd Generation) Model CECHG01 and I was running out of memory so I decided to go this route instead of buying a higher compacity PS3.Man am I glad I did,it was alot cheaper and now I have a ridiculus amount of storage space. I will never fill it but I will try and it feels cool to say ya got a 1TB PS3.I read on the Internet that this was the perfect HDD for a PS3 and Its true. It took 5 mins to install and with my model system it booted right up and formated. Now its time to download all the games,demos,etc that I can.

Paired this with a rosewill esata/usb 2.0 enclosure. Notebook review reports they got up to 113 MB/s read rates in synthetic tests. I'm getting ~100 MB/s when moving large files. Fairly happy :). I prefer buying spinpoint drives when I have the option.

As we know this type of product has long life time in computer point of view. So to rate more accurate I need to use it for at least 1-2 years; however, one of the things that makes me to write a review is that the speed does not change compare to the original 320GB HD. This is the first thing I worry about when I decided to replace my old HD with a huge capacity HD like this one. That's why I give it 4 stars. I may change my rate along with this product's reliability. For now, so far so good.

This bad boy fixed the problem easily. The hdd in my Toshiba laptop was slowly dieing. It kept saying HDD/SSD warning back up now. Bought this with cloning software and fixed problem in less than two hours including the take out and install of new drive.

i ordered this product specifically for the purpose of putting it into my old(fatty) ps3. i followed the online directions and it went in easily, i had to look up a video to get in reformatted while inside the ps3 but once that was done it has since worked wonders.it almost has to much space! i have since re purchased games that took up to much space, this item is a great price and has tons of space! runs faster and smoother then the old 40gig i had in it.i recommend this to anyone wanting to upgrade, i know i didn't need this much space but just telling people that i have a TB of hard drive space on my ps3 just feels good!!

I purchased this drive to replace the optical disk drive in a brand-new, late-2011 MacBook Pro 15-inch. It fits the Optibay adapter perfectly. The drive is virtually silent, response time is not noticeable. It just works. I have a SSD in my MacBook Pro as the system drive, so this drive is used for data storage. It's ideal for that purpose.
