Bang for bucks - Best mobile during puja offer
It is very good phone, has all latest features and includes all accessories in box. During puja offer price+exchange were very good.

Battery Life: Initial 10% (100% to 90%) drains quickly but after that it goes well for rest day. Battery life shouldn't be an issue while selecting this mobile.

After latest OTA update it got Super-Slow-Motion like Note 9 and other enhancements.

Camera : Amazing
Screen : Fantastic
Speakers : Fine
Headphone : High Quality
Sensors : Top Quality
Software : Too many features, sometimes very complicated. No lag.
S Pen : You will love it
Accessories : Top Quality
Charger Speed : 1.5 Hours to full charge, very slow compared to OnePlus Dash charger.
Battery Life : It is fine, not as bad as people are saying. It has very powerful battery saver mode.

Suggestion: Buy this during special offers

Awesome product - Just too good to miss anyday.
Its nearly a week I got this piece on hand. Superb Design, excellent outlook, Outstanding performance. Battery life is way too good. Charging is very fast. I was very happy to see the the Note 5 wireless charger works perfectly fine for this one also. Just make sure you buy spare Type C cables as well as Type C to MIcro USB connector for emergencies though Samsung box has it, 1 piece each. Camera is awesome. For me change over from Note 5 to Note 8 was just too cool. Just connect to internet, click on few things & just go have a cup of coffee & come back after 1 hr or so. everything from old device to new device is transferred & ready. You just need to attend some things like activating your own accounts in some apps. S- Pen - This is the best thing I liked in Samsung Note. Way too good to handle & very handy to take notes. Device performance is terrific . WOrth the money.

The Best phone
Note 8 is packed with awesome features. Just can't get over trying all the feature. Batter is a bit problem, but for my use it last for 1.5 days. Got it for 31K in exchange offer. In love with S-Pen, it is just awesome. Screen is also great. I don't think there is any better phone than this(Excluding Note 9). Almost everything can be customized, I am not sure whether I could do all this with my previous OP 3T(it never attracted me). Note 8 is beast.

Great phone with the best display and camera
I've always been a 'Samsung display' fan for last decade... Shifted to other brand in 2018 and did a ghar wapsi by buying this awesome piece of Note series. After using note 2 and note4 for several years.. This is a great upgradation for an old note user.
Display is out of the world.. Crisp, clean, contrast ratio, outdoor condition.
Camera OIS is what I missed in other brand i had.. And now I'm fully satisfied.
Spen is another reason I fell for it.
Rest all features are upto date.. Which doesn't matter to me.. As my main requirement is good display and camera.
Battery backup is a bit on lower side.. But that's good.. Coz due to that I spend less time on phone and be more productive 😉

One monster device !!
Coming from stock Android, I would say I am really impressed with this device...Samsung bloatware has been diluted down to the minimum I have ever seen on a Samsung device... !! The S-Pen works great. It is altogether a different feeling when you are working with the Note 8. Small nifty little tweaks here and there adds to the cherry on the cake... :) The camera is one of the best smartphones cameras available as of writing this.

I did however notice some lags over my period of usage (been 5 days). But that can be fixed via an OTA update.

The only problem however, is the BATTERY life. During my normal usage it lasts for about 6-7 hrs...Where in I make phone calls...Surf the internet....Whatsapp mesages...Some social networking....etc...I need to charge it once a while...

But I think Samsung played it safe here...After what happened with the Note 7 !!

Overall for people who can afford this device, do it without the blink of a thought !!

Once a note user, always a Note user! 😎
Received the beast right on the scheduled date and boy what a beauty it is.Hands down the most attractive gadget at the moment in my opinion.

As far as the performance is concerned I found it as snappy as a phone can get and the S-Pen is freaking awesome as I can play with all the functionalities in boredom and that’s what makes the note a Note.

Camera and some other features are also the best in its category. I was quite sceptical about the battery life but its not that bad even though its not the best like other aspects of the mobile.

For now I’ll explore Bixby and the plethora of available features.I will update if I’ll find out any cons in the future but as of now its the best mobile in the planet in my opinion.✌🏼

Note"note 8"d. Roger that!!!
The picture quality is great. I really admire the work samsung has put into it. The sound is decent enough and for someone like me who enjoys light music, classical and old songs this is the best. On a 4G network i am still left with 30% of the battery on the phone by the take i hit to bed and i am pretty satisfied with it.
The Bixby has still a lot to improve on and learn when compared to siri. I am still an user of iPhone and i should accept it that siri is by far the best that I have come across when compared with Bixby, ok google.
I am not sure if this is a problem with this note 8 or is it my fingers, but I see a bit of problem accessing finger print on note 8.

I am loving it.
It took me 1 days to understand and judge the device. I started loving it from 2nd day. Its awesome in every aspect. Live focus have to be improved in future. I would like to use a long review for Note 8 after 1 month of usage.

Pros
1) Display (10/5). Yes (10/5)
2) Design & Product Quality (5/5)
3) Features (5/5)
4) Camera (4/5)
5) Spen & Smart Notes (5/5)

Cons
1) Worst fingerprint sensor placement. You probably nod ur head while selecting the security lock option. Finger print is easy option, But you have to search for it with you finger to unlock the phone. You have to keep your phone straight to ur eyes to unlock using iris scanner. Cane use Face unlock bcz, u can unlock it using a photo of u. So face unlock is not recommended.

If this review gets 100 Likes, then i will write clear and long review which coveres every aspect of Note 8. Thank you.

Best smartphone I ever had
If you avoid battery back up time then Note 8 is the best mobile in market. When I charge my mobile on morning hundred percent it will fully discharge at approximate 9:00 p.m. and it's enough for me. I continuously use maps and regular phone calls.
Sometime I need to charge my mobile with power bank but now I cannot stay away from my Note 8 battery backup is not work to me
But I cannot stop using Note 8 because it full with many specifications functions and i use daily and this is really a smartphone

Battery performance 3 out of 5
All other functions 5 out of 5 plus ,1 for camera

Dont Trust force updates from Samsung
Have been a Note 2 to Note 8 guy all along ( except for a switch to S8 Edge plus 3 years back) I bought this during Jan 19, and did not use it for 4 months since i was in the US...been using since May 19...here is where the story gets interesting..after 45 days Samsung was forcing soft ware updates and prompting so much it became annoying (battery life was about 32 hrs with ample usage read 8 hrs in a day...(mails, media, kindle ..name it) one day I just decided to update the force pushed Android 'version ' care by samsung and the experience changed completely...battery does not last on continuous use for more than 3.5 hrs now! Is this how Samsung kills models to increase sales YOY ?? And is this a start of another conspiracy theory???

Note 8 has the best display and design ever
1.Gorgeous display ever from Samsung. Everything is crystal clear
2.Blazing fast with 6GB RAM and there is no lag
3.Even though battery capacity is low , it still comes for 14 hours.I think it is really good for mobile which such a big screen and high contrast.
(I keep in WQHD screen resolution and Wifi always on)
4.Fast charging is super cool .It really charges very quick
5.People used to complaint about finger print sensor location, But I find it comfortable with big hands.If you have small hands please don't buy this phone
6.Dual camera is awesome. With default settings itself ,you can take great pictures which you can keep it as wallpapers directly
7.Certain features of S pen is very useful such as smart select & screen write and otherwise I don't have much use of it
8.Phone look really cool and nice
9.We should use back cover with some grip, otherwise the phone is very slippery and fingerprint magnet

Fabulously built beautiful beast!!!
Really a long awaited flagship and it proved it. Worth waiting for. The phone is super fast and lags literally no where. It crunches on whatever you throw at it. Blazingly fast and also the Samsung UI on top of Android Nougat (when received the phone. Oreo is on it's way) is really a tremendous feature filled experience. Easy to use and almost has anything you ask for. Sometimes maybe you'll accidentally press the Bixby button instead of the Volume Rocker because of it's placement under the Volume buttons. Also the fingerprint sensor is weirdly placed so people with short fingers should have difficulties. The S Pen, that lovely thing which I'm using now to write this review has lot more features than required. It really takes a lot of time to learn all it's tricks! Yet it's so brilliant and needy once you're used to this pen. Overall, this possession is really a fabulous experience.

Picture perfect phone
Note 8 is by far the best camera phone in today's market. Primary camera is beyond imagination, too good. The best part is in portrait mode you can adjust the background blur once photo is clicked, secondary camera is better but not the best, battery life could have been better. The S pen is amazing and one of the best feature is you can use it in locked mode as well and save it. Keep it up Amazon for such amazing deals and offers during festivals as I bought it during Diwali sale. No doubt the back camera of note 8 is far better than one plus 6. So android lovers this is the perfect phone if you wanna have a phone with great camera, please go for it!!!

Completely Satisfied
The most gorgeous phone one will ever use. Got this beauty for 36k under exchange offer during prime sale. Battery drains optimally. I found its drain time similar to that of On max and on 8. However few features have to be turned off for extending its battery life.

The processing speed is adequate for my daily use and one can find Android Oreo pre installed. The s pen is a marvel since I have a frequent habit of doodling.

PUBG, Asphalt games can be played with highest settings on this phone without any lag. By the way I never found any heating issue on this flagship.

The seller has even provided a back case which looks quite decent. Completely satisfied with this product. One should definitely opt for this.

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 8 REVIEW : AN UNTAMED BEAST WITH A COOL ATTITUDE (DETAILED REVIEW)
===============
INTRODUCTION
===============
The Note 8 is Samsung’s big phone comeback story, making up for the Note 7 recall. It has an expansive 6.3-inch ‘Infinity Display,’ faster 6GB of RAM performance and two best-in-class rear cameras, which add up to one of the most expensive phones ever. Just don’t expect record-breaking battery life from its predictably average-sized battery that plays it safe. It’s the best big phone you can buy, if you can handle the enormous size and price.

The Note 8, then, is supposed to be Samsung’s humble return to the phablet market – plus a big rival to the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus – and in many ways this phone is a huge success. With a gorgeous design, incredible 6.3-inch screen, great software and excellent stylus, there’s very little not to like here.

In fact, the only big concern I have is that this phone’s battery life might not be long enough for heavy users.

================
SPECIFICATIONS
================
• Display : 6.30-inch.

• Processor : 1.7GHz octa-core.

• Front Camera : 8-megapixel.

• Resolution : 1440x2960 pixels.

• RAM : 6GB.

• OS : Android 7.1.1.

• Storage : 64GB.

• Rear Camera :12-megapixel.

• Battery Capacity : 3300mAh.

=======
PROS
=======
• Premium glass and metal build.

• Gorgeous and large display.

• improved S Pen features.

• Excellent camera quality.

• microSD expansion.

• IP68 certified.

• Fluid performance.

=======
CONS
=======
• Most expensive Galaxy Note to date.

• Phone is very tall.

• Fingerprint sensor still awkwardly located.

• Slightly heavy.

• Battery life could be better.

• Weak speaker.

=========
DESIGN
=========
On the exterior, the Galaxy Note 8 delivers a very familiar design that we’ve gotten used to from Samsung over the last couple of years. Glass is the main material of choice filling up the entire front and back and a sturdy metal frame wrapping around the perimeter holds it all together. One thing that you’ll notice that is quite different from last year’s Note 7 or the more current Galaxy S8 is that the body is much more square and angular. Even the dual curved display is less pronounced this time around.

Instead of a completely smooth taper between the glass and metal all the way around, the Note 8 has a much more distinct separation between the glass and metal and the sides are much flatter, giving a phone that’s usually slippery a lot more grip. Of course, the biggest drawback with any phone made predominantly of glass or any shiny materials is how prone it is to fingerprints. Depending on the color, it may be more or less visible but you’ll still want to keep a cleaning cloth handy if you want your phone looking pristine at all times.

The only other major cosmetic design change is that the camera housing on the back is black instead of being color matched with the body of the phone. On the black version it blends in seamlessly but on any other color you’ll get a visor-like appearance which looks pretty cool to my eyes but it’s a design choice that not everyone is going to like.

==========
DISPLAY
==========
The infinity display that was first introduced with the Galaxy S8 has made it’s way over to the Note 8. This means super thin bezels on all sides and a screen that takes up almost the entire front. The thinner bezels allows Samsung to fit in the largest screen we’ve ever seen on a Galaxy Note.

Measuring in at 6.3 inches but with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio, the screen is much taller than it is wide and in comparison to last year’s Note 7 or the Fan Edition, the size difference is mostly noticeable in height while the change in width is almost undetectable by feel. The added height does make the phone quite tall but it doesn’t feel any less manageable or harder to operate than any other big screen Android phone currently available.

The screen is the usual Samsung Super AMOLED technology that brings all the typical characteristics that we’ve seen on previous Samsung phones such as vibrant colors, high contrast, and inky dark blacks. With a resolution of 2,960 x 1,440, or 3K QHD+, it’s incredibly sharp but in order to enjoy the display to its fullest potential, you’ll have to change the display resolution in the settings as the phone defaults to 1080p the same way the Galaxy S8 does.

The Note 8’s display overall is absolutely gorgeous and the large size is fantastic for all kinds of use cases such as watching YouTube videos, playing games, casual web browsing, and productivity. It’s also bright enough that viewing the screen comfortably outdoors is a non-issue.

The big bonus with the Note 8’s screen is its mobile HDR certification meaning the phone can play back true HDR content that allows for better color accuracy and contrast.

HDR content is still somewhat scarce but should be a little easier to access (provided you have the right plan) due to the Note 8 recently being added to Netflix’s list of HDR supported devices.

================
PERFORMANCE
================
The Galaxy Note 8 checks all the right boxes in terms of 2017 flagship specs. There’s a Snapdragon 835 running the show but this year Samsung has bumped up the RAM to 6 GB. It’s not the first time we’ve seen Samsung put 6 GB of RAM on a phone but it’s the first time that it isn’t on a regional exclusive. The increase in RAM is definitely a welcome change especially for a device that’s meant to be a productivity/multimedia powerhouse and it certainly helps the multitasking experience feel much smoother.

The increase in RAM is definitely a welcome change and it certainly helps the multitasking experience feel much smoother.

The typical every day experience such as swiping and scrolling through menus, web browsing and jumping in and out of apps are also quite smooth and the Snapdragon 835 does a great job of handling more intense tasks such as playing high end games with very smooth frame rates.

=============
HARDWARE
=============
Obviously we can’t talk about the Note 8 without mentioning the S Pen, after all, this is the hallmark feature that defines the Galaxy Note line. The actual hardware of the S Pen itself remains practically identical to last year. It features the same clickable top, a 0.7 mm ballpoint-sized tip, and over 4,000 levels of pressure sensitivity. The major changes to the S Pen are really within the accompanying software features which we will dive into in the software portion of the review.

The actual hardware of the S Pen itself remains practically identical to last year.

Other hardware on the Note 8 includes pretty much everything that you would want except for the kitchen sink. There’s a microSD card slot for additional storage should you need more than what the phone offers internally (a 128 GB and 256 GB version were announced, but at launch we’re only getting the 64 GB base model).

Fast wireless charging capabilities, Bluetooth 5 and gigabit LTE support are all on board, and an IP68 certification means it is dust and water resistant and can withstand submersion in up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.

=======
AUDIO
=======
For all you headphone jack lovers out there, you'll be very happy to know that the Note 8 still has one.
For all you headphone jack lovers out there, you’ll be very happy to know that the Note 8 still has one as Samsung is one of the few smartphone manufacturers left that is choosing to keep this feature intact. At least for now.

For external audio, the Note 8 doesn’t offer anything special and this has been a weakness of a lot of Samsung smartphones over the years. The Note 8 comes with a single bottom-firing speaker that is easily muffled by the palm of your hand when holding the phone in landscape and the audio quality can sound distorted at max volume. It’s certainly a serviceable speaker but audio is clearly an area that Samsung doesn’t put too much emphasis on improving. For those that expect more out of their smartphone audio, consider the LG V30 or the HTC U11.

=====================
FINGERPRINT SENSOR
=====================
Besides external audio, the other unfortunate part of the Note 8's hardware is the placement of the fingerprint sensor.
The other unfortunate part of the Note 8’s hardware is the placement of the fingerprint sensor. It still sits on the back to the side of the camera which isn’t the most ergonomic location, but at least Samsung did make some improvements to it that makes this one surprisingly better to use than the one found on the S8.

The fingerprint sensor is now slightly more recessed making it easier to find by feel and Samsung repositioned the camera flash and heart rate monitor to sit in between the cameras and fingerprint sensor giving you more room for error when reaching for the fingerprint sensor.

These minor changes definitely make a huge difference as smudging the camera lenses is a much rarer occurrence. But while Samsung’s changes to the fingerprint sensor are appreciated, its location still desperately needs to change to a friendlier position.

If you’re still not a fan of the fingerprint sensor, Samsung’s alternate unlocking methods such as facial recognition and the iris scanner are available. While I personally prefer the fingerprint sensor as my main way of unlocking the Note 8, the iris scanner and facial recognition are just as reliable in terms of accuracy.

==========
BATTERY
==========
My biggest concern and probably a main concern of many during the Note 8’s official announcement was how long this phone would last on a single charge. It has a 3,300 mAh cell which by 2017 standards is by no means small but is smaller than what we would have expected for a phone with such powerful specs and massive 6.3-inch QHD+ display.

Battery life on the Galaxy Note 8 has been far better than anticipated, even at QHD+ resolution.

In my experience, battery life on the Galaxy Note 8 has been far better than anticipated. Screen-on time is typically around the five hour mark with anywhere between 15 to 18 hours off the charger allowing me to comfortably get through a full day.

By no means am I a light user when it comes to smartphones either. Along with the usual social media, emails, and web browsing, I play games and watch YouTube for several hours per day and the Note 8 has managed to satisfactorily meet my needs. This was also all while running the screen at QHD+ resolution which didn’t seem to make as much of an impact on the battery life as I might’ve thought.

==========
CAMERA
==========
One of the more drastic changes to the Note 8 this year is the addition of dual cameras on the back, a feature that is becoming increasingly more popular on smartphones.

It was only a matter of time before Samsung jumped on the bandwagon and they couldn’t have picked a more perfect phone on which to to do it. The Galaxy Note 8 camera utilizes a wide angle and telephoto lens setup similar to the iPhone 7 Plus or the OnePlus 5 and the secondary telephoto lens allows the Note 8 to achieve 2X optical zoom.

Both sensors are 12 MP with f/1.7 aperture on the main sensor and f/2.4 on the secondary, but Samsung’s super fast dual pixel autofocus is only available on the main camera. Both sensors feature optical image stabilization, which is a first for any smartphone utilizing dual cameras and guarantees that all of your photos and videos are optically stabilized regardless of which lens you decide to use.

While the ability to instantly zoom in by 2X is available on the viewfinder at all times, the caveat is it isn’t always optical. If the camera detects that the lighting situation isn’t optimal, the camera will not switch lenses. This behavior is intentional though, as the camera software decides that sometimes better results can be achieved through the main sensor. Other phones like the iPhone 7 Plus and OnePlus 5 react the same way.

Aside from optical zoom, the secondary sensor is being leveraged to create a depth effect or bokeh that we’ve seen from many smartphones using dual cameras. Samsung is calling their take on it “Live Focus” as it allows you to adjust the background blur before you take the shot and adjustments can also be made after the fact as well.

My favorite part of the Live Focus mode is the ability to dual capture. This means that a photo is simultaneously captured from both the wide and telephoto lens with only a single press of the shutter button, saving you the hassle of switching back and forth between lenses when you want to capture two focal lengths of the same subject.

With the exception of the new 2X zoom button, Samsung’s camera app remains practically identical to the one found in the S8. There’s a handful of shooting modes such as panorama, slow motion, virtual shot, and a pro mode for full manual controls but the experience isn’t overwhelming. The camera app is also packed with a wide variety of image filters and snapchat-esque effects that adds a unique level of creativity and fun to the camera.

General picture quality isn’t much different from what we’ve already seen on the Galaxy S8 but by no means is that a bad thing. It’s usually pretty safe to assume that you’re getting a great camera experience with a Samsung flagship and the Note 8 doesn’t fall short of that expectation. Photos from the Note 8 are packed with detail, vibrant colors, and some of the best dynamic range offered on a smartphone.

The optical image stabilization along with the fast dual pixel autofocus makes it easy to capture photos with tack sharp focus in a reliable fashion. This also allows for photos in low light to maintain plenty of detail and the camera’s good dynamic range prevents highlights in night time scenery from being overblown. It’s only in the worst of low light situations that noise starts to be noticeable, but for the most part Samsung’s image processing keeps the images quite clean.

On the front of the Note 8 there’s an 8 MP front-facing shooter that offers Samsung’s smart autofocus for sharper and clearer selfies, but Samsung’s softening at times can be aggressive causing too much detail in the face to be lost.

===========
SOFTWARE
===========
The Galaxy Note line has always offered a slightly tweaked version of the software found in the Galaxy S flagship and with the Galaxy Note 8, the experience is largely the same as that found on the Galaxy S8 with a few key changes. The ultimate productivity device brings the now-familiar S Pen menu that pops up whenever you detach the pen (or when you click the button while hovering over the screen). With it comes a refinement in the features of Samsung’s stylus.

There’s not a lot new with the S Pen this year, with Samsung instead choosing to listen to user feedback and simply tweak a few features. The useful translate feature just got a lot more useful with the ability to now translate full sentences, whereas you could only translate individual words before. The Galaxy Note 8 also comes with the Pen Up coloring-in app preloaded, which offers access to a community of millions of Galaxy Note users around the world and tons of helpful presets for you to color in and create with.

The S Pen also has some handy productivity features and last year’s Screen Off Memo has been improved so you’re now able to write up to 100 pages of notes, edit them and pin them to the Always On Display, which is one of the fastest ways to jot down something when you’re in a hurry.

The biggest new feature is Live Message, which lets you record the pen strokes of writing a short message, turning it into an animated GIF. Added effects like sparkles and neon lighting add more flair and the effect is pleasing GIFs that you can send to friends and anyone else. It’s not exactly productive but it’s fun and practical and lets you add personality to your daily communication.

Samsung is hoping the Galaxy Note 8 is the perfect multitasking tool and the new App Pairing feature definitely lets you take full advantage of the large screen. This lets you pair two apps together and save the shortcut to your Apps Edge or to the home screen; when pressed, both apps open together in Multi Window. Imagine a shortcut to let you open the calendar and Gmail together for increased productivity or Facebook and WhatsApp messenger for constant communication. App Pairing is great if you often find yourself switching between apps and is a subtle but clever addition.

The last notable feature in the Galaxy Note 8 may not be new but it is useful for those that have multiple social accounts. Called Dual Messenger, it lets you create multiple instances of the same single-account app (such as Facebook, SnapChat or WhatsApp) on the one phone, so you no longer need multiple phones to be able to use two numbers with WhatsApp or a personal and professional Facebook profile. It won’t be for everyone and Samsung wasn’t first (we saw it on the Huawei Mate 9 last year), but if this is a problem that affects you, Dual Messenger could be the answer.

With the introduction of the Galaxy S8, Samsung brought their own AI assistant, Bixby, into the fold and that feature has now made its way over to the Note 8. This includes the dedicated quick-access hardware button that sits just below the volume rocker. On the Note 8 you get the full Bixby experience out of the box including Bixby Voice. Bixby has certainly made some great strides since the Galaxy S8 but it still has its issues.

Bixby works wonderfully for doing phone-related tasks such as changing the screen brightness or having the phone download an app off the Play Store for you, but for factual or internet-related questions the experience can still be hit or miss. Most times it’s purely due to Bixby struggling to understand your every word to properly formulate a response.

When it works, Bixby is fantastic and Samsung has it going in the right direction, but it still needs some polishing. The bright side is that you have Google Assistant to fill in where Bixby falls short, allowing you to get the best of both worlds.

The main drawback to the Note 8’s software is that it’s launching with Android Nougat and while Nougat is still very current, with Android 8.0 Oreo being official it does make you wonder when the Note 8 is going to get the update. Hopefully it happens sooner rather than later because it would be a shame for a phone as current as the Note 8 to fall behind in software updates right out of the gate.

These changes and tweaks aside, the rest of Samsung’s UI is all about software refinement. The software on the Galaxy Note 8 looks similar to the Galaxy S8, with very few changes in appearance but that’s not a bad thing. Samsung has improved its interface over the past few iterations and with every new Galaxy device, we see a smartphone UI that’s consistently getting better, and growing into one of the best on the market.

===============
FINAL VERDICT
===============
There isn’t a whole lot fundamentally wrong with the Galaxy Note 8 and save for a few minor issues like the fingerprint sensor placement, the Note 8 offers enough firepower to satisfy Note users old and new. The experience that the Note 8 offers is fantastic, but despite how good the Note 8 is, most people including the most die-hard of Note fans will probably find the price this year to be extremely hard to stomach. It’s the most expensive Galaxy Note we’ve seen to date.

The Galaxy Note is always one of the most exciting smartphone releases each and every year and even more so this year simply because we were unsure if there would even be another Galaxy Note after last year’s disaster. The Note 8 is as exciting of a phone as many people, including myself, expected it to be but Samsung might have fizzled some of that excitement with its hefty price tag. If you buy one will you regret it? Most likely not, but you might have to think twice about dropping that amount of cash before you do.

Good phone, but your phone - your responsibility!
I purchased this during the Great Indian Festival Sale in Oct 2018 for 42k (with SBI discount and 0% EMI for 9 months).

After a great deal of comparison and analysis on many phones, I decided to buy Samsung Galaxy Note 8 purely based on the comparable features against iPhone X. Moving out of iPhone was not an easy decision. However, I wanted to break out of the dependency. Having used Note 8 for 2-3 weeks, I now have mixed feelings towards - whether I should've stayed with iPhone or moving out of iPhone was for good. Anyways, here I am, using the 42k mobile.

Pros:
* Has great many features: good low-light photography (user must learn to take pictures turning off the Auto-mode to take better pictures), lot of productivity and fun tools generally as well as with the S-pen.
* Good display but some commonly used apps like HDFC Netbanking and few other apps display the images/edges in a blurred way. iPhone was way better at this. This leaves your phone displaying contents on your screen only to some extent even with the highest resolution (3 modes available).
* Lets you import all the data (contacts, pictures, compatible apps and most of your old phone whichever it is (even iPhone). This helped me set this phone so fast that I literally started using the phone immediately after I received.
* Fast charging works well (as I was an iPhone user, this is new to me and definitely reduced the time I need to stay away from my phone while charging it).
* The battery stays charged reasonably well (loses about 30% charge in 6 hours of normal usage with 4G connectivity in Power-saving mode, about 50% while in normal mode without power-saving ON).
* Doesn't get heated up while using or charging.
* Large screen display is good and when uncomfortable, it has a feature to turn on ONE HAND mode by swiping up diagonally across the screen (can be changed to 3-tap of Home button).
* Great Bluetooth connectivity and 3.5 mm jack for Aux cable (audio).
* Samsung Pay lets you add your credit/debit cards and some wallets and lets you use it even while you don't carry your physical card. This is an amazing feature that's brilliant enough to give you freedom from wallets during some walks of the day.
* Samsung Health app lets you measure Heart Rate, Stress, etc using the sensor near the rear camera. You will get some insightful readings and take care of your daily health.

Cons:
* Most important precaution to be taken if you decide to buy this phone is you should be ready with a screen protection workaround as you take it out of the box. They say it is Gorilla glass but my phone took a visible scratch on the screen within 30 minutes out of the box while importing data from my iPhone, definitely without any rough usage. It won't withstand any casual handling. You MUST take care of the display very much. This was not the case with iPhone.
* Speaker is very very poor. Even the ear phone will not let me hear the audio properly even with 100% volume. This is the most disappointing thing in this phone.
* Selfie camera did not work well in low-light. So, don't expect to have the same performance that the rear camera provides in low-light.
* To add to this list is, Face recognition is pathetic and even the phone's Security settings does not recommend it.
* Fingerprint sensor at the back is really annoying, especially when the Face Recognition isn't up to the mark. If you have used iPhone models (upto 8 Plus), you will be experiencing huge discomfort having to unlock your phone lifting it and keeping your finger at the back, near the camera. Be mindful, if you keep touching the rear camera's lens, it will also eventually get scratches.
* There's a dedicated button below the volume buttons which is for Bixby - Samsung's equivalent of Siri/Alexa. I haven't used it yet but if there's an option to assign this button for launching something else, it may be useful for the people who don't need to use Bixby.
* The Android apps get updated almost on a daily basis - not sure what keeps changing. This was not the scenario in iOS.
* Note 8 has 6 GB RAM but keeps showing only 2.5-3 GB is free at any point in time during the day. And, when certain apps are open, the free RAM drops to 1.1-1.5 GB. This keeps me wondering what will happen if I start using games.

Some words to consider:
If you are an iPhone user right now and are looking for changing your phone, better stick with iPhone. Trust me - the price is definitely justifiable to a great extent even if not 100% convincing. However, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 definitely has some great productivity features and is a good purchase except when you are already in love with an iPhone, whichever model it is.

Will update if I feel like adding some points later.

Note your World, with your Phone!
It's been a month. I am a proud owner of Note 8.

When I first read the tagline 'Do bigger things', I just took it as a tagline. Then the phone arrived, only 2 days after I ordered. Thanks to Amazon, (couldn't pre-order though, my stupid hdfc credit card had some issues). Anyways, I opened the box and there it was, a sleeping beauty. It looked even more gorgeous than it looked in ads. Peeled the plastic off, mistook the Bixby button as power button, thought at first that my new phone was dead and I need to charge, then rectified my mistake and there it was! I had awaken the beast! After a quick 5 mins setup I started exploring. It packs an astounding series of features, everything you can think that logically should be there IS there! There is not a thing in this phone that you cannot customize! From the color of the navigation bar to the app drawer's app icon margins! I spent hours to discover what it packs and it's still a work in progress, yesterday I found out that I can block messages based on phrases contained in them!

Then I swiped right, and there she was, Bixby! She can do things that Google Assistant can't even imagine in its dreams (if it could dream, that is, haha) you can tell it to do any device maintenance related tasks and it performs them perfectly, even switch your phone off using your voice!

The device has 3 biometrics, Face detection, fingerprint, iris. All work flawlessly. Unlike some other phones with 'half eaten fruit logo' Samsung will not force you to settle for just 1! You can set both fingerprint AND Iris/Face recognition to unlock your phone. How about that!

I heard some people complain that 3.3k mah battery is not big enough to power this monster of a 6.3 inch phone. Well, they can't be any more wrong! I want to talk about a specific night when I had only 3% battery left and I 'had' to watch an episode of Supernatural in Prime Videos, you know what i mean, so I turned on Maximum Power Saving and after 45 mins of 4G data usage and half brightness level video watching, I still had 1% battery left!!

One day, I discovered there is an app called Samsung Pay pre-installed in my phone. Hmm, I thought, what does this do? I am a first time Samsung user, btw. So I registered some cards, credit and debit, but didn't find any portal where it says 'we accept Samsung Pay'. Maybe a dud app, I thought. But then I watched a YouTube video about how to use Samsung Pay! I was like 'what?!!'. That evening I went to a retail nearby, and guess what happened? The jaw of the cashier there dropped, when he saw me swipe my phone and pay at a legacy card swiping terminal! Hahah.

Then there is the S-Pen, that can do wonders! It can take notes in your handwriting (obviously!), can interpret what you are writing into digital text, can help you create your own GIFs, you can turn your current screen into an editor and share the edited page and store it, create live messages.. It's a five inch of fury! :)

As I said before, I didn't preorder the phone, so the free wireless charger offer I did miss out. Yesterday, I was checking out the My Galaxy app, some random Offers, Tata CLiQ, Fossil, Big Bazar.. Oh wait!! Wtf!! There is the banner! Redeem your free wireless charger!! Went to Samsung store and the order is placed. 4.5k worth charger given free of cost! This is the kind of thing, loyalty and love, you can expect from Samsung. I didn't even meet the criteria, still they were kind enough to reward me.

PS I also freaked my mom out by dropping the phone 'accidentally' into a bucket of water! xD
She was like, 'what did you do??!! It's a 68k phone! It does have warranty, right?!'

So, as I was saying, it's been a month. One of the happiest months of my life.

Most beautiful screen out there. Must buy..
Looks: 10/10
Firt of all this is really a beautiful sleak phone. I have not seen any large phone look so beautiful . I am not an iPhone fan at all and it is nothing to do with price but the look itself. I hate the white plastic look. It is nowhere premium just the hype. I know iPhone x looks much better as it tries to look similar to note 8. Yes I said it.. It tries but fails. Seriously if you say iPhone 8 looks much better than note 8 than I would b3 really shocked.

Screen:10/10
One of the main reasons to buy this was the super emoled infinite screen. Watching movies in Netflix is a treat. I can challenge the colours on it. Iphone x cannot match it. I have test3d this in one of my acquaintance phone. She was very proud of having it until she saw the same video in note8. She was reluctant but at the end agreed note 8 was way better. Of course she started to talk about all the other features in iPhone and camera but really iPhone x is double the price of note 8, you expect it to have better features to be honest. You cannot be logical if you are in love with a brand and not the product. If you are a movie buff I would surely recommend this phone any day.

Batery:10 out of 10(compared to big brands and other samsung phones. I know some phones give 3 days battery life. I am not compa4ing this to that)
I have used xiami, Nokia, Sony and even other samsung phone. In comparison to other samsung phones I have used like s7 edge and my brothers s8 galaxy, this has the best battery. S7 edge would be almost dead when I reached home and my brother has to charge at least once in the day or else it dies. Note 8 I charge every night but I am a very heavy user. I watch at least 3 hours of Netflix while travelling to office, I use it for 2 or 3 game is pubg and then even for navigation at times. Other samsung mobile users would be going nuts 3 games of pubg. Not possible but yes it works for at least two and the other things I have mentioned along with it. Battery life compares to other big phones and brands is really good. I have not yet used the power saving so not sure.

Cemera:8 out of 10
The camera is not the best but does give good photo's. No2 the cost is 37k so for that price the cost is really good. With exchange it's offering for around 30k. So it's really a steal deal. The front camera again is not disappointing but nothing special about it either.

Cases and tempered glass:
I have tried different cases but I feel all of them take away the sleak look of it. I would highly recommend a case and if possible tempered glass. Mine got broke in just 3 months. My niece threw the phone and it cracked from the bottom edge. I still dont have the tempered glass as I am lazy but no visible scratches in the front screen but after using it for 6 months it has few scratches on the back. Very few and you have to look closely to find it. So now I am using the samsung led cover. I would not recommend it for the price it is currently selling almost 4k. But it is cool to see the time and missed calls on the cover itself.

Headphone: 0 out of 10
Yes zero. I am not sure why they even provided in the first place. The headphones are awful for a mid range phone. I have just used it once. I have a boat and other brand headphones which I have brought over the years so it was not a problem for me. That is the reason why I still gave it 5 out 5 in review.

Samsung s3 gear:
It pairs with gears seamlessly but the gear is really overpriced and I review it separately. Of course it is samsung product so it has to pair but just showcasing its usage. Buy it only if you like it.

Speaker: 6 out of 10
I am not someone who listens to music on a speaker. I mean if there are friends over I connect it to Alexa echo so I don't have an rabbit of using phone speakers unless if I have someone beside me who wants to talk to the person on the other end and for that it does a good job. So it was not something for which I would lower the overall rating.

Summary
If I summarize , if you want a beautiful looking phone to watch movies and turn people's head you should definitively buy this. I had many people ask me in the train about this phone because of its infinite screen and beautiful colours.
If you are looking for a phone with very good camera and speaker there would be other mobile phones at a lesser price which is better than this but not of brands like samsung and iPhone.
If you are thinking of buying a mid range phone of samsung itself like samsung A8 then this is a must buy. This gives a feel of high range mobile. Remember when it was launched it was priced around 60k or more.
If y p u have a VR and are a fan of it. This phone is much better choice than iPhone x for sure.
