-akku geht in ordnung
-tolles feature: scheinanruf
Contra:

Thanks!

One warning. The phone comes with a warranty but good luck trying to register it or get support for it. The warranty card is tiny. You need a magnifying glass to read it. It requires a dealer's stamp and signature! Huh?
The last line says "Caution: Please ensure the form above is completed at the time of purchase and present to the dealer for guarantee service, otherwise your guarantee may be affected".
I went to the Samsung "register your product" page and was stymied there also. When I went to enter my state, the dropdown box only contained the name of six states! When you go to contact Samsung, they require you to provide your preferred carrier name and model number. This model number was not included in the options. I will try calling Samsung Monday morning but right now I'd give Samsung minus five stars!

First, the keypad locks after a few seconds of inactivity - press the star key for a couple of seconds to unlock.
Second, push the "OK" key to get the menu.
Third, navigate to the lower right corner menu item and press "OK"
Fouth, scroll down to the 4th menu item and press "OK"
Fifth - the first item in the next menu is language - press "OK" and you should see "english" as one of the options - scroll down to "english" and press "OK" - that's it!
Other than this, the phone worked great while I was in Europe - call quality was fine, the battery lasted for several days, and the phone is small and light.

If you are in the US planning on traveling to the EU with this phone, it might not be too annoying. If you are planning on travelling somewhere else (e.g. UK) this phone would be really annoying.

I would definitely buy again. The only reason this phone gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the following issues.
1. I was able to switch to T9 text input while composing a text message but could not get T9 to stay as the default entry method. Minor nuisance.
2. Samsung phones are notorious for using proprietary connectors. It is not possible to plug the phone into a micro-USB charger, but you must take the Samsung charger with its special plug. This phone was fine for a trip, but general advice to anyone buying a phone for daily use--make sure it uses standard USB and headphone jacks.
3. And speaking of headphone jacks--there wasn't one but I didn't miss it for the trip.

REMEMBER: This phone's frequency is only for international use -- it will not pick up a signal in the USA, so you won't be able to try out calls before you leave on your trip.
This is now my cell phone for European trips. I'm planning on taking it with me next year when I go to the south of France. Saves on costs to call back home. I still use my iPhone on WiFi only to check email, Facebook, etc.
The phone stays charged for a very long time. I was in Italy for 2 weeks and charged it once. Also, be aware that the charger comes with a European plug, so you'll need an adapter to charge it up before you leave -- but obviously no adapter needed to charge in Europe.

PROS:
It came already set for English menus and included English printed docs. (Perhaps the complaints of previous posters motivated the change.)
It is small, light, and the charger worked fine...the battery was 80% charged out of the box.
CONS:
It came with a Europe-to-US adapter, but the US prongs were too small/not spaced right to fit snugly in my home outlets. I tried my own small adapter, and that didn't fit the Europe prongs on the charger cord. A second universal adapter that I had worked fine at both ends...so this was only a minor inconvenience...hence the drop to 4 stars. But I'll have no trouble charging it completely before I leave the US.
Assuming it works well with European SIMS (and judging from the other posters, I have no reason to doubt it), this is a good deal.

Calls to US were crisp and clear like any other call... just dialed 00 for the country code, then 1, area code and number. Needed LOTS of unexpected calling to cancel hotels and make new reservations... check on flight status... check with car rental company... call B&B's that we couldn't find with GPS.
Absolute perfectly functioning life-saver!!!
At the end of 9 days the battery had not even lost one "bar" of power... still full charge. I did power down whenever I was not using the phone, except for a few instances when return calls were immediately expected.
The trickiest part was switching language to English... phone is set for German. There is a review somewhere here that explains how to do it and that saved me... although it took me many tries of following the detailed instructions to get it... still kinda tricky.
If you can get to English instructions you'll have a GREAT phone!

I AM SO DISAPPOINTED and have had to buy her a new phone over there.I now have to get my daughter to mail this back to me so I can return the phone

You insert the card, which will prompt you to enter numbers, then you enter the numbers on your card and voila! You have a phone.
We sent text messages and placed calls without issues. It worked great in big city and countryside as well.
The phone worked well even in trains (though if you go through a LONG tunnel you may lose reception, but short tunnels were no issue)
I did not need the instruction to figure out the phone, since it is a very basic phone (And I am not tech savvy)
I admit that I did look into the whole menu to know what does what, but once you know, it is easy.
It was bought for about $33, so it is pretty cheap for a phone we will only use when we go to Europe.
Good purchase.

For a user which need only Voice calls, and need good talk time, this one of the best options, remember this will not work in US since the GSM bands are only calibrated to work with UK & Asia bands.
