I bought this phone since our old, and still working, cordless phone was reliable and also a Panasonic. I even bought an extra handset. Well I haven't had this set but a year and the battery life has gotten horrible. If it's on the charger all night, I get about 45 minutes of talk time before it dies. I am always babysitting this phone by making sure it's on the charger. I never had to do that with the old one, and still don't. I am really disappointed in this product. I spent a lot of money on these phones and it infuriates me that I'll need to go and buy a new set of phones. Only this time it will not be Panasonic.

Problems I have had with this phone:Display on the phone randomly stops working and I either have to take out and replace the battery (which then results in a drained charge) or keep replacing on the charger until it come back. Either way it's a huge inconvenience.Reception is unpredictable at best. Sometimes it comes in great and sometimes it comes in lousy... kind of something I would expect in a cordless, although with a 2.4ghz I expected better... but really it doesn't seem like the cordless technology has made any leaps and bounds in the last 10+ years.If I place it on the table in speaker mode and don't place extremely gentle the phone shuts off.Features are ok.... it's kind of a pain to delete calls in the caller ID. Not the best phone I coudl have spent the money on. Now that I have had it a while I wish I had done a little more research, since this was an impulse buy.Stay away from this thing...

This handset eats batteries to the point where it is almost unusable. If youy leave it on the charger base, the NiCad batteries develop the "memory effect" and lose the ability to hold charge. If you leave it off the charger base, it doesn't have much usefull battery life, and you're always dropping conversations because the battery pooped out. The flaw in the design is the lack of a "smart" charging circuit in the phone that cuts off charge current automatically when the battery is charged and allows the user to keep it on the charger base.

I have been using this phone for about 2 weeks now and I have to say that this phone is just about perfect. I have no idea why so many people have battery issues. The fact is that if your battery does not last, go out and buy energizer battery. Its NiMH (ER-P511) there is no memory and it lasts for 10hrs talk time. The only bad thing for me is that, there is no blinking light when you have missed calls. If you are thinking about buying this phone, do it, you will love it. Do not listen to the reviews.

I have to repeat what everybody have already said about this terrible piece of equipment:-the worst battery ever: I already have two batteries and none of them stays charged for more than 1 day, and this is if I don't use the phone!-problems with the Caller ID, like most of the other people.-Cust. Service people know one thing to say: send the phone to our technical dept. and .....you know the rest of it!I can keep going and going, but the bottom line is:Don't buy it! It's a piece of junk!!!!

I've had this phone for about 3 months, and it's now going back to the store. I really tried to give it a go, but the poor quality is unbearable.I like the multi-featured factor of the phone, but the most important features that NEED to operate properly (Caller ID/Waiting Display, battery life) don't seem too work well.Caller ID/Call Waiting ID's come through only intermittenly. It also takes about 4 rings for the ID to register, if at all. It only registers ID #'s every 4th/5th call, even if it's the same # that had previously registered on the ID screen or pre-programmed into your phone address book.Battery life is extremely poor. After an hour of conversation, the phone beeps mercilessly in your ear, and the battery runs out within 5 minutes. You have to leave it on the base/charger for well over 15 hours, and at best, you still only get one-one and a half hour of talk time out of it, if you're lucky.Customer service is nil. Their line is either busy or you're put on hold for over 30 minutes. I've yet to speak to a representative.Mine's going back to the store. Unfortunatley, finding a caller ID/waiting phone with decent battery life seems to be a huge ordeal these days. You'd think with all the technology available to date, it'd be a cinch. Some of the ones I'm considering are: Uniden TRU58602 and V-Tech VT5831. Neither has perfect rating, so I'll have to find out the hard way. I'll post reviews on those once I've tried them out.

Pros:The look, very nice.The functions, varied and useful.The speakers, very clear and loud enough. Cons:The caller id voice is difficult (at best) to understand.The caller id voice does not begin speaking until the second ring.The display is difficult to read if you have any visual impairments. I am legally blind and have a talking caller id unit I purchsed from my phone company. I can read it as well as record my own voice to announce frequent callers. I need a second box for the upstairs. I will return this item and purchase the Command Comm Talking Caller ID 6000 unit for $35.

As stated by previous reviews this is a junk phone. My old Panasonic 900mhz was great and worked for years after being dropped a number of times. This phone has a horrible battery life and the individuals on the other end of the line constantly complain about you being hard to hear. I have tried everything and nothing short of shouting at the phone helps. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!!!!!!!!

For the price I paid for this unit (I think almost $130 without the answering system feature) this phone should last 5 years! I charged the phone for more than the reccomended 15 hrs prior to use, and to my surprise, the battery died within 10 minutes of use the next day. I have replaced the battery 3 times now with both Panasonic and non brand batteries, and nothing has worked. It will appear to have charged to the full 3 bars, yet when I lift it off the reciever, it will drop down to one bar in seconds! This is even after a full 24 hours of uninterrupted charging. My calls get cut off even when the display shows 3 full bars, and the phone will say that it is out of range of the base even when it is only 6 inches away! DO NOT BUY THESE PHONES!!! At least wait until it seems that Panasonic has fixed the problem!

Oops! One would expect by looking at the photo of this phone that it would rest in the charger when not in use. Wrong! According to Panasonic the charger is only for charging a completely dead phone. If you rest them in their chargers instead of letting the battery completely discharge, the battery will die a very early death.Very poor functionally. Panasonic says that you cannot change the type of battery that is used. Their suggestion is to buy new phones that have different batteries. Crazy!Costco just started carrying these phones. There will be millions of expensive headaches!PS When our phones went dead Panasonic's batteries were on back order.

I've had the phone now 5 months or so. Its base speakerphone is very clear and strong, as is the speakerphone on the handset. Programming #'s to save is easy. Programming #'s to save from caller I/D, however, is somewhat tricky until you master the learning curve. I'm glad I took my business associate's advice and paid more to get this model, it has been worth it.

The battery is worthless. I've had the phone for about 9 months, and the battery cannot hold a charge and continues to get worse, and I'm about to buy a new phone to replace my new phone. As the price on this baby already has fallen steeply, I guess panasonic has realized its a dud and you should avoid it all costs.

A nice system overall, but not nearly perfect. We purchased a set of these to replace our burnt out Siemens Gigaset 2402 system. While we were happy to have something that worked (the Siemens system had died a slow death over about a year and ultimately became unusable after a little over two years of use) the features and design of this system leave much to be desired. Numerous minor inconveniences and awkwardnesses make these phones less than they could be--nothing major, and perhaps only noticeable when compared with the excellently designed Siemens phones (really nothing more than the difference between Japanese and German design). Two features stand out in comparison with our retired Siemens phones, one negative and one positive. On the positive side, these phones support detection of voice messages on an existing message system, so that it is easy to see from any handset whether there are unplayed messages on either line. On the negative side, the system does not support handset naming. We imagined this would be a minor inconvenience when we bought the phones, but it has proved to be a major drawback: there's simply no way to get the entire family to learn what number goes with what phone. When we had the Siemens system, which supports handset naming, the we had a working intercom system (not to mention convenient transfers of calls); now we're back to shouting.

I have an old analog Panasonic 2.4Ghz and love it. So I didn't even think of buying another brand. This phone is terrible. She speakerphone does not work well, continually cutting in and out. The headset is even worse, the echo and digital warble are unbearable. Going to try a GE recomended from Consumer Reports.

In short, I like gadgets with features. I thought I would like this phone system. I bought into this phone and set them up around the home. The reviews below are accurate. The battery life is short (less than 1 hour talk time) and I have already had to replace the batteries and I have not yet had the phone 1 year.The 'flash' feature does not work. I have Verizon and it does not respond when the 'flash' feature is pressed. Verison says it is the phone not giving the right signal or it is too short of a signal.Otherwise, the clarity is fine. I just hate not being able to easily switch to a second caller. I'd stay away from the series (maybe this brand) when I spend money to update this system.Good Luck!

This is a great phone. It has excellent features (on paper), the range is very good, and the battery charge life is okay (could be better though) - why could they not provide Ni-Mn batteries like the additional handset come with ? Oh well...The problem I have had - the Caller Id just says 'Incoming Call' 90 percent of the time. What use is that ? Don't we know that already ? I exchanged the phone for another unit - same problem. Tried calling Panasonic's Customer support number for 4 days but I could not get anything but a busy tone. In the meantime, emailed them with my problem and my inability to reach the 'Customer Support' line. Reply comes back after 5 days - 'Call the Customer Support Line'. Guess noone bothers reading emails. So finally manage to get through - and they say send it back to them. Have spent time and money (not to mention the headaches)on a phone that's over a 100 bucks, I'm still waiting for a response or a phone from Panasonic.My advice - If you want to buy any Panasonic product, research the product (ask someone who HAS it). Then, buy it, preferably from a vendor where returns are easy and shipping free :), and forget that Panasonic HAS any customer service - either on the phone, or online.Good Luck.*****UPDATE****After the replacement phone had the same problem, I got it re-replaced ;) and presto - same problem - intermittent caller id. I called Panasonic Customer Service to give them an earful - and finally got through to a rep who suggested that I try to change the setting for "Flash Time" (Page 61 in the User Manual) from 700 ms to a lower number. After changing it to 400 ms, I now seem to be getting the Caller Id All the Time. Those of you who have this problem with Caller-Id saying "Incoming Call" please change this setting.Hope that helped. Based on this I am changing my rating to 4 stars (even considering the battery life issue) :)

I ordered this phone without reading the very poor reviews concerning the battery staying charged. Once I read the reviews, I became extremely nervous - to the point of wanting to cancel my order. Unfortunately, it had already shipped by that time, so I was stuck with the phone or else I would have to pay to return it. I decided to try it out and see how it worked.The first charge took around 15 hours. I was excited to see 3 clicks (the full charge) and I made sure that nobody in the house put the phone back on the base so that it would run all the way out. The next day there was still a full charge, but then the day after it went down to two clicks and then, within a couple of hours, it said it needed to be recharged. "That's it," I thought, "This phone is going back." But, alas, I gave it one last try.I charged the phone overnight until it had a full charge. I then took it off the base and the phone lasted a week! Unbelievable!! Since then I haven't had any problems at all. I guess I was lucky and got a phone that's not a problem. As most others have mentioned, I love the phone features, although I am a little disappointed in the "digital duplex" speakerphone (I was hoping for a full-duplex speakerphone, it's really more of a half-duplex with extra sensitivity - fortunately we never use the speakerphone, anyway). I absolutely love the blinking light and note on the handset when we have a voicemail, and it's now so easy to check our voicemail after programming the voicemail number and password into the phone. We just hit the voicemail button, it dials the numbers, waits, hits pound and our password and we're in. All in all, I'm extremely pleased with the phone and happy that I was unable to cancel the order.

I've owned this phone for just over a week and I love it. The talking caller ID rocks (talks in a computer voice) and it plays from both the handset and the base so we can always hear it. The speakerphone option on the handset is nice too when I'm in the kitchen cooking and can't hold on to the phone. The phone is very user friendly and calling in for messages is a breeze too. No need to remember what number to press to play your messages, it guides you through it. I had a great Panasonic phone many years ago and have no idea why I waited so long to go back! Thanks Panasonic.

This phone has a lot of neat features. The talking caller id has relieved me of feeling like I need to run and check the caller id everytime the phone rings. The sound isn't the best, but for us it isn't untolerable.

If I had reviewed this phone soon after I had bought it (first 2-4 months), I would have given it at least 4 stars because of the features and pretty good battery time. However as time went on, battery life has deteriorated to a point that it is a joke. Sometimes we get just 20 minutes without speaker phone. I have both a speaker phone/base station and an extension set. The extension is worse, but the base station is only slightly better in terms of battery life. So if you see 4 or 5 stars in the rating by some ...reviewer for this phone, you know it is someone who just recently bought the phone; if you seee 1 star, it is someone like me, who has had this phone for a while, who Panasonic has nicely fleeced but has finally figured it out!!!

I recently purchased this phone system (along with two additional handsets) to replace our 900mhz cordless phones. Set up is simple, entering names/#'s in the phone book is straightforward, and streaming the phone book entries to other handsets is awesome. Intercom feature works very well. I haven't found the batteries to be an issue like others have, but I tend to keep the phones on the base when not actively in use. Hopefully my good luck continues!

My biggest gripes. The batteries don't last worth @##$@!@!. The meter always reads that it's low. And, you slightly bump the handset it comes on, preventing anyone from reaching you and draining the battery. You can't carry this thing anywhere... your guaranteed to hit one of the buttons indiscriminately. One of my handsets refuses to work... no matter how many times I reprogram (reset) it fails to recognize the base. I'VE HAD IT WITH THIS THING!!!

did a lot of reading and looking at phones and when i purchased this one it had decent reviews and fit my budget and my needs. Initially the phone was fine, but after a couple months the battery kept dying out. The battery indicator will be showing a full charge but after 30 minutes of talking the phone dies, needless to say its very annoying to be in mid conversation and have the phone die (this has resulted in numerous conversations over speaker phone, which by the way works good). Seeing as how a phones primary function should be to facilitate talking i'm very disapointed! The functions offered are nice (the speaker phone function on the phone itself (not the base) is nice and allows friends and famaily to hear my 18 month old daughter babble while we talk. So good functions, nice design, good price but horrible battery!

Had my phone for about a year now and it never has held a charge for more than 20 minutes of talk time. From day one I charged the phone over night for about 15 hours and found the unit would display "Recharge" after about 15 to 20 minutes of use. After a couple of months I purchased a new battery and the problem was not fixed. Now a friend of mine with the same phone is having the exact same problem after only 2 months. There is definetly a problem with the design of this phone. AVOID THIS PHONE !!!
