I purchased this phone for my home office. I have replaced the battery twice in 6 months and, according to the place of purchase, the battery should last 1-2 years. I have a much older Panasonic with speakerphone for my home and have never had to replace the battery. In this phone, it slowly provides less and less time between charges until you can only speak on the handheld for about 30 minutes before it dies completely. Panasonic has told me to send it in for a new one, which I plan to do. But, that is very inconvenient. The other features work fine when the battery is fresh, but the battery charger is a deal-breaker.

This phone is great (and NOTE: "THERE IS A MUTE BUTTON, IT'S A DIGITAL FUNCTION ON THE HANDSET" contrary to and earlier report)It intergrates 2.4 GHz cordless phone technology with some of the convenient features of the cellular phone. With a 50 number directory and cell phone-like menu options, Panasonic has outdone this former Uniden customer.There are 8 different types of handsets that can be registered with the main base with functions ranging from intercoms to alarm clocks Caller ID w/Call Waiting. It's redial memory exceeds the traditional 3 number memory. The previously mentioned 50 number directory stores phone numbers plus whatever extensions and add-on numbers you could ever have to dial (ie. codes, extension numbers, etc. I personally have nine digits to dial after having dialed 10 already). It has saved me soo much time.It also comes in the savvy colors of silver and blue (two of my personal favorites). The phone not only looks good, it actually performs! Way better than the transparent promises of the Siemen's 4215 2.4 GHz model which I almost threw out of the window for the aggrevating clicking noises and non-functional handset capabilities!Another bonus of the Panasonic is it's speaker phone capabilities on the base as well as the handset. The base also features 3 mailboxes and a fully functional keypad. This phone is too smart for it's good. I'll be checking out the comprable Uniden TRU-4485 soon. But for now, I'm in love with the Panasonic KX-TG2730S.But don't take my word, go to Circuit City and LOOK at the phone. You'll never know fo you like a phone until you try it out and see if it has the features that will complement YOUR lifestyle. This one surely complements my busy lifestyle!

I've had a cordless phone in one incarnation or another since the late 70's/early 80's, and this phone is by far the most superior in almost every way. Let's get down to the important features:1. Range---I just returned 2 V-Tech 2.4Ghz phones for their incredible lack of range. My new Panasonic has a good signal over 300 feet away from the base. My V-tech, a dismal 50 feet.2. Sound quality---this phone has no static, and the sound quality of the receiver and the digital answering machine are great.3. Ease of Use---all the buttons look intimidating at first, but this phone helps walk you through the more daunting tasks, and was easy to set up the directory on the handset. Speaking of which, a feature you'll absolutely love if you add additional handsets---the ability to transfer your directory from one phone to the next in seconds! Way cool!4. Expandability--this system allows you to add up to 8 phones. And each phone can be programmed to be a room monitor, a great feature if you can't figure out why no one answers from the family room (because the tv is too loud), or to listen in on the baby's room.5. Customizable--the phones can be customized by color (you can buy 3 different colors of handsets), and each handset has 6 different ringer styles (one very cool two tone ring that is very quiet and nice for a bedroom).Bottom line, this is the best phone system I've ever had. Comparable in price to the V-Tech line, but with much better quality throughout! Only gripe---it needs battery backup on the main unit during a power outage. Otherwise, great job Panasonic!

Bought this phone as a result of trying 2 different Panasonic 900 MHz phones (which were both poor quality). I thought I was just having a problem with the range and wanted to try the next up in MHz. BAD IDEA. Panasonic has come up with a seemingly ideal phone with some great looking features but they have no idea of how to build a phone that will work or customer service that will properly address the issue. They continue to sell this phone in spite of very poor craftsmanship. -Very bad battery life (sorry to say that it will NOT last more than 20 minutes)-Very bad sound quality-Very bad customer service-Very high priceMy parents have the same phone and have had the EXACT same problems as have I and 90% of the reviewers, keep reading if you do not believe me.

The phone does look cool-better than the previous models. The battery life on the handset is pathetic. All night charge may get you 10 minutes of talk-time, if you're lucky. Defeats the purpose of buying a cordless phone altogether. Caller ID does not work properly, most of the times.

Tons of cool features but no battery life to make any of them work for more than ? hour. Leave it on the charger all night and you'll get maybe an hour of talk time. Leave it off the charger all night and you'll get maybe 2 minutes of talk time. Buy something else!

This phone as all the right features, but runs out of battery life in about 20-30 minutes, I have a base station and 3 extensions, and go through all three batteries, and than forced to talk on the speakphone untill the batteries get recharged the next day.what features it's missing:Voice dailing - if we can have it on our cell phones, why not on a cordless.voice announcement - just saw this demostrated on another panasonic model. it'll verbally annouce a caller. very cool. not a requirement, but definitely very cool.

Bought this for the features, appearance and ability to intercom between handsets (wonderful feature with kids). Some of the features are excellent . . . the design is good, buttons are easy to hit, base is easy to work. However, the Caller ID is EXTREMELY unreliable - it takes 3-4 rings to show up. Also, battery life is unpredictable. And, a little petty issue, the answering machine takes a long time to get to messages (if you like to hit the button and go right to the messages this is not the phone for you). If you are someone who puts your phone on the base each night to charge - and doesn't rely heavily on caller ID - it's a great phone. But, based on the Caller ID and battery life - I wouldn't buy it again. Should have stuck with the tried and true AT&T or Sony phones!

I have had two of these where the handset has just died in a matter of weeks. I just read the other comments with the battery life issue but dont know if that is what caused the failures. Other than that the phone is reasonably good and its speakerphone handset feature is pretty useful (though the sound quality is sometimes questionable). Its still a little unnerving to have two of these reasonably expensive phones just malfunction within weeks.

I've owned Sony, Uniden, and Panasonic wireless phones. This model has wonderful and reliable features. The base and handset are intuitive to use and reliable. BUT, the battery on this phone is awful. It held a reasonable charge for the first few months, but now requires charging every other to every third day with minimal usage. On any call over 30 minutes the battery charge is undependable. Hard to believe that such a quality phone comes with such a poor battery system. Read the other reviews, this is not an isolated problem. Panasonic has done, and could do better. Are they listening?Buy the phone if you like the features, but buy replacement batteries at the same time - you'll need them!

What ever you have read before just disregaurd it. I have had this phone for 2 months now and the CID has always registered on the second ring. I have left the phone off the base unit and have had no batteries going dead. i have a panasonic splash proff and the same goes for that. Its just one great phone. Panasonic has come up with a great system here and because certain people cry because it dont meet their every demand complain. All I can say is just let them find a better phone then this and post it here. If you want a phone that lives up to its name then shop no longer then this phone. In most places you have 30 days to return it and believe me you wont return this phone for any reason unless your a total jerk

This phone offers great features and is easy to use, but the battery life is terrible. I am on my second phone and plan on returning it to exchange it for another brand. Had a problem with the battery coming loose in the handset which causes the phone to think a fully charged battery needs recharging after 20 minutes of use. Manufacturer offered a solution, but did not solve the problem.

I recently purchased this answering system along with two Panasonic KX-TGA272S 2.4 GHz Cordless Expandable Handsets with Caller ID and Alarm Clock and five Panasonic KX-TGA271W 2.4GHz Expandable Handsets. I like the feature that allows the base system to expand to accommodate eight phones. The multiple functions, and there are many, are easy to use and the phone is very simple to program. My only complaints are that one cannot monitor incoming calls and the battery life is anemic. Even though all the phones have caller ID I would still prefer to be able to monitor incoming calls. This is a terrific system for those who need phones in multiple rooms but do not want additional phone jacks iinstalled.

This phone is awful. I bought it for my mother, who loves to keep in touch with her children and friends via phone. The battery ALWAYS conks out after about 30 minutes. I am embarassed that this happened and am bringing her a new phone tomorrow -- and you can bet it will not be a panasonic.

We love this phone (2730 model) but we have now had to return two base units/main handsets and may have to give up on it. All of the excellent features are as described by others below -- clear menus, easy to use, good sound and range, easy speakerphone mute, excellent intercom feature between handsets. First rate phone with typical Panasonic thoughtfulness in several areas.However, the Caller ID feature, which is essential for our family, only worked intermittently on both units -- typically on only 1/2 to 2/3 of the calls (even from the same outside number). When CID is not working the handset display just says "Incoming Call". It wasn't line noise or a particular jack -- what made this most frustrating for us is that we have several other phones (including other Panansonic corded and cordless phones) on which the Caller ID always works just fine. Nothing has fixed the problem with the 2730, from changing units, to changing jacks, to disconnecting all the old phones, etc. If this apparent problem was licked, this would be an ideal high end cordless phone.

This phone started out fine in August when the phone was first purchased. The phone would last a good couple hours off the cradle in an idle mode. However, now a single 5-10 minute phone call , after charging overnight, will inexplicably kill the phone, and the call, leading to an unusable product. Panasonic support wishes to charge me money to have the unit looked at - which I refuse to do , given I think the product should work correctly. Based upon other peoples feedback and experiences - I think this series of phones from Panasonic(2237/2247/2257) have a design issue that needs to be addressed - or better yet Recalled. Do not purchase this phone.

This is a great phone. Even if you don't plan on buying additional handsets, the multitude of features in this Panasonic make it a great buy. It has great batterylife and range (a "Booster" feature is included that will extend the range and improve clarity even further at the expense of using a little extra battery power). Sound quality is also very good, and speakerphone on the base and handset are very useful.Another great feature is the room monitor, which allows the user to listen to what is going on in a room in which a headset or base is located from another headset or the base.The answering machine mailboxes can be checked from each handset and not just the base (in fact, pretty much everything can be done from headsets since the phone was made to operate with up to 8 handsets). Additionally, if you have 2 or more handsets you can use them as 2-way radios even if the base is out of range. All in all, a great phone in which I have not yet found any flaws (I have been using it for 3 weeks).P.S.: This phone is much much better than the AT&T 2255, which went back to the store for its dismal range and lack of features.

I reacently purchased this phone and am going to return it because the caller ID works half the time at best. I called panasonics tech support 3 times with no avail. I had a full charge in the battery and when I took it out it lost its charge immediately,(whats with that?).Oh by the way it only took 24 hrs to recharge it,yes you heard me right 24 HOURS.The sound quality was very good, speaker on hand set work well, but in lieu of the things I mentioned this baby is going back to the store.

Went through four of these phone and none of them worked. Battery life on three was less that 4 hours. Handset had response time problems on two of the four. Finally sent the fourth one back and started shopping for another brand. I have the previous generation Panasonic and love it.

i had nothing but problems with this phone. first off it was really static sounding. sedcond, it would change channels automaticly every few seconds and half the time it would get worse reception and the other half it would produce a loud buzzing noise that wouldnt go away till you manually changed the channel 3 or 4 times. if you live in a house or apt with walls that are thicker than paper, this phone probably wont work for you either. but the good thing, i took it back to the store )circut city) and they took the piece of junk off my hands once and for all.

Just got this phone over the weekend. I was ready to buy the Siemens, but after reading the reviews I decided to go with this Panasonic instead. It has everything I need and (so far) works very well with excellent range. I bought the base plus two extra handsets, including the alarm clock version.Likes:1. Very easy to use. I was surprised by the LCD prompts, which are very useful. My ten year old already can transfer calls and use the voicemail.2. Three voicemail boxes.3. Ability to transfer a caller into voicemail. If you have trouble getting messages from family members this is the phone for you.4. Intercom and room monitor features.5. Program your fifty number memory and then transfer them to each of your handsets automatically.6. Speakerphone on each handset.Dislikes:1. The ringers could be a little louder.2. While I like silver, white and neon blue as much as the next person, I would like a more subdued color choice in my phones.Regards.

I am a Panasonic fan when it comes to cordless phones. I have used over ten Panasonics over the years since the introduction of cordless phone. I purchased this because of the reputation Panasonic had build on me. But I was wrong! This Phone is not a "Panasonic". I can barely hear the other party-I don't have any hearing problem-even at full level of volume. if I connect it to a headset there is a hum. My friends ask me if I am in propeller plane. The biggest disappointment is the battery. You won't believe this, but, this phone needs to be charged every 2 days. I don't use this phone at all (because of above reasons) but the battery goes COMPLETELY EMPTY IN 2 DAYS. Don't waist your money, this phone is useless!I have no idea why some people have left positive feedback on this!

I just returned this phone after owning it for two weeks. The actual phone was decent enough...good layout and good sound. What I hated was the caller_id...for some reason the caller_id only displayed after two or three rings...way too late and not much time before the phone rolled into voicemail.I called Panasonic 1-800 about the slow caller_id and they admitted customers complained about it. They gave me a few setting to try changing on my phone. I performed the suggestions but no change for my slow caller_id...so I returned the phone...

but also a waste of your energy. After spending on this seemingly high-tech phone we anxiously waited 17 hours before removing it from the base... Then we were really excited about the sound quality--- it is nice, indeed. However, very quickly we found that what others had been complaining was true--- the caller id display says 'incoming call' even after the third ring. My 20 dollar caller id box says it is from my cell phone but this POJ doesn't.I still like my big old 900MHz Panasonic but not this NEW breed.

Phone has great features, particularly fond of the speakerphone in the handset. But,could not get more than 30 minutes of talk time before battery would die. Contacted Panasonic customer service, they stated, "We recognize a problem with the battery compartment of this phone." The solution was a pair of adhesive backed-felt pads. This was to help the battery make better contact to the positive and negative posts. I gave it 10 days and several charging cycles of the battery, and still no better than when I began.

I like it very much. However, the displayed screen on the based unit is rather small. I bought the KX-TG2740 model for my parents because it has a larger area display on the base. I like the speaker phone which allowed me to talk within 4ft with crystal clear quality. It also has the speaker phone on the handset too which allowed me to move about without carrying the base with me. It would be perfect if it could be louder. Overall It is the best phone that I have ever bought.

I tried 4 different phone/answering machine combos and took them all back because the voice quality of the answering machines were so bad. Finally I bought this one. It cost a little more, but is well worth the money. Messages sound great. Phone has lots of features, including a handy speaker phone that is on the cordless phone rather than the base - handy while on hold and wandering around the house while you wait.

Seems like it is getting tougher all the time to find a cordless phone that works really well. I own another panasonic so I felt confident this one would be ok. But I kept getting complaints from people I called that I sounded distant or like I was inside a barrel. Then there were clicks and I was told I kept breaking up. The final problem was the design of the handset... somehow just couldn't get a comfortable fit with my ear. Seems like they design phones without even considering that someone has to hold the thing against an ear for what may be long periods of time. So had to return it and try another.

At [$$$] Panasonic ships this product with NiCd battery and doesn't have a built-in charger for a spare battery in base.If you charge a partially charged NiCd battery it would graduallyloose its maximum charge (memory effect).Though its not as cute as the Siemens Gigaset 4215 model it hasloads of features (more than most people need).Ask yourself the following question :Would I need to have 8 handsets? If answer is NO I would suggestlook elsewhere.

With conference facility etc, I find it hard to belive there is no mute on this phone. I use the mute geature a lot for conf calls and I think ATT 2255 is a better model with mute.
