I needed to replace an extension, on an existing phone system. I found this item online. I bought it. Paying only $11.00 less than a totally new system. I found this out after my purchase. The phone stays"charging" all the time, even with a NEW battery. It works, It matches my current system. Due to the price I give it a "2".

I've had the phone for quite some time (four years?) and it is difficult now to get the buttons on the handset to operate. You have to apply a lot of pressure, and it frequently results in entering numbers twice. I inquired with Panasonic on replacement handsets, but they indicated they can only be repaired, which is quite costly. Customer Service is obviously outsourced to non-English speaking country where they were unable to provide much assistance - as they couldn't even find the product with the model number. It could just be that my time is up with this item....but I've heard similar complaints. Otherwise...not a bad item.

The system is a great idea and I own 3 remote handsets. I have had to return two of them because the LCD displays failed, one after about 8 months of use and the other didn't work "new" out of the box. My third handset is also showing signs of LCD screen failure. ALL of the handsets that have failed have been "Violet" colored which seems like an unusual coincidence(?) and makes me a little suspicious that "Violet" units may be a substandard product line. I also have "White" and "Gray" handsets that work just fine. The return policy is pretty hassle-free, but why the problems to begin with?

I bought this phone and didn't realize how many features it has. You can program one phone with all your phone numbers and then "send" that info to the other phones so you don't have to program all of them. The phone also has a 2 way, but I have never used it. I do use the room monitor mode, and the intercom is wonderful provided you remember what number phone is in what room. My solution is I have the phones numbered according to what floor they are on in the house. The cordless range is good, I can take my phone to the neighbor's house and it works pretty good. The only problem with this phone is the battery. You really need to get new batteries that are not made by panasonic. Energizers seem to work well and I bought them on Amazon, they were 1/2 price compared to Best Buy!

Великолепно

This is by far the best cordless phone in my house (out of 5 cordless.) Audio is clear, handset is comfortable to hold, volume controls work well, speakerphone (both on base and handset) work well. I also like the audio Caller ID- even though some of the pronunciations are difficult to make out (and can be amusing.) The only tough thing is to get my wife to return the phone to it's cradle- since it's in my office!! :)

I searched a year ago for a home cordless phone/answering system all in one to take the place of my somewhat outdated cordless phones and separate answering machine. Looked at many models and finally settled on the Panasonic KX-TG2700 series. I am impressed, and my family loves it. Yes, we still have the old corded standby for power outages, but these phones have worked well for 2 years now, and I bought a second system for my home office with 2 line capability. Then found an add on handset/clock radio to reduce the clutter on my nightstand. So, has lots of good functions, and everyone has one in their room and me in my office and by my bed. Only complaint was the battery life - very poor. I use the speakerphone feature in my office for conference calls and was always having to revert to the corded model to complete the call. Told Panasonic about this and the only response was to ship me a new battery, which I charged just as they stated. But poor battery design. So I did a little research and found Eveready made an Energizer battery that supposedly cured the problem. I bought a box from an on line retailer and replaced all the handset batteries, one by one, charging each as the phone instructions said. WORKS GREAT!! Batteries are sold by Technuity, Inc. and are model ER-P511. Now my phones have been in operation for over a year with these batteries and never lost a charge or cut my call off. If you find a good deal on this phone, go for it now before they sell out. Really good to use and easy to learn. I even have a door paging system/doorbell hooked up to the phone line and these phones do a great job when I use this for door intercom. And the bedside clock radio works great, sounds great for a clock radio. Panasonic got the design right - they look a little clunky, but work great. The reason I'm writing this is I'm looking for a couple more handsets before they phase out this phone. Not ready to go 5.8 gig yet. By the way, wireless modems have problems with cordless phones so we're still in the wired mode around here for the internet connection.

It is with great frustration that I am writing this product review. I have had too much trouble with the battery for the cordless telephone handset (Model KX-TG2700S) and I have complained to Panasonics as described below.March 8, 2005: I made the first call to Panasonic (1-800-211-7262) to explain that the original battery (Model N4HKGMA00001) for my telephone's handset had stopped working. In particular, since December 2004, in less than one year from the initial purchase, I was unable to charge the battery from the base unit. The customer service agent I spoke to promised to send me a replacement battery free of charge.March 31, 2005: When after three weeks of my March 8th call I did not receive the battery, I called Panasonic again. This time, the customer service agent told me that there had been an error in processing my order. The agent then went on to process the order again and provided me an order number.April 16, 2005: Once again I did not receive the battery even after two weeks of my March 31st call, so I called Panasonic again. This time, the customer service agent told me that Panasonic had stopped sending the batteries for Model KX-TG2700 as of March 19, 2005.Hence, I am now concluding that Panasonic customer service has been giving me a run around to save Panasonic a mere $15, the cost of the battery. I complained about the defective battery on March 8, 2005, before Panasonic's March 19, 2005 decision to suspend sending out the replacement batteries. I think Panasonic's modus operandi is quite disgusting. I bought an expensive phone believing it to be a good purchase. Now I am realizing that it was a big mistake giving my business to Panasonic. I do understand that the batteries have to be replaced from time to time, and I also understood when I bought the phone that the original battery would last for at least 2 years (as reiterated by Panasonic's customer service agent during my March 8, 2005 call!).I believe that Panasonic is willing to lose a customer who would buy more products in future to save a mere $15. It is now abundantly clear to me that Panasonic works on deception and cheats its customers out of the value of their product. In light of the lousy customer service provided to me, I will not buy any Panasonic products in future.

After re-reading the reviews, I'm not sure why I bought this product. Seems like there was plenty of warning.This is not the world's cheapest phone, so I was hoping for more. The battery it came with was almost worthless. I replaced it (the beginning of $$$) and saw better performance, but then the phone as a whole deteriorated so that now, about four months in, I can barely talk for 10 minutes before I get the dread "No Link to Base" message. It works fine as long as I'm willing to use it on speakerphone, but as a cordless handset it's 90% useless. Even more disappointing, the Panasonic headset I bought (more $$$) was also unusable with this phone ... I couldn't hear the other party at all. Why can't they get their act together before they sell this product?

Love this phone - makes it very easy to check your voice mail and once you get use to the computer's accent in pronouncing words, it is really cool to hear who is calling before you pick up. Really glad I bought it and am considering buying others as gifts for family members.

This is a excellent phone system, packed with features,I bought a bunch of the base (2730s) and extra handset (273s) from other store when it was on clearance, I am using one set for over 1 yr without any problems, the battery issue is true, one battery actually was already dead when I installed the phone, since I have been using panasonic cordless phone for over 10 yrs, I immediately realized that the battery was dead, I made a couple of battery packs by using AA Ni-MH rechargables to replace all original battery packs, now I have one base and 3 expandable handsets in my house, each one can stand-by for up to 4 weeks(I keep the handset off the base), talking time could be as long as 10+ hrs, other than the battery the phone works flawlessly, I love the speakerphone on the handset and also all unit can make internal call, or works just like walkie-talkie, for people complain a lot about the battery life, please remember to read the manual, panasonic suggest to recharge the battery only when the "recharge" icon is flashing, otherwise the Ni-Cad battery may only last 3-6 months, because of the memory effect on Ni-Cad batteries. Panasonic should supply with Ni-MH battery packs.

I bought this phone in May 2005 and the battery died 6 months ago. I never used the phone (i.e. never took it off the base), so it should not be an overuse issue. I called Panasonic, and they are sending me a free new battery because I think they must have had a lot of complaints about the phone.

the screen does not hold up on this product! even normal use generates scratches, cloudy spots, etc. when i contacted panasonic for support, they blew me off completely.

I've owned a number of Panasonic cordless phones, and loved them. I purchased a Sony cordless phone once and the static was so bad, I threw it out and went back to a Panasonic. Thinking I couldn't go wrong, I bought the KX-TG2730 system over a year ago, with the idea of expanding using the other handsets. WRONG idea. 2 weeks after I started using the phone, the battery on the handset would go dead after about 15 minutes. I emailed Panasonic and asked about this problem and had no response.I still use a Panasonic phone for all my phone calling, A KX TCM410 that I've had for years. I've replaced the battery once and still get about 8 plus hours of talk time, plus a lot of standby. I use the other phone just as a speaker phone now and use the handset only in a pinch.I think Panasonic owes everyone who bought this phone a new, working battery. Like other reviewers, I'm surprised someone hasn't sued yet or some consumer product agency hasn't made them recall the product. How about the Consumer Product Safety Commission??? If you needed to dial 911 I wouldn't trust this phone.

I bought this phone around 6 months back to replace a 900Mhz Uniden and another panasonic.Call volume is very low in both ear piece as well as the speaker. Initially i felt it may be a problem in the line, but soon I am hearing complaints from everyone I talk to on this phone.It has got a speaker in the handset which is a great convienience, but again since the speaker volume is too low it can't be used.Off late I am having trouble with the phone battery life too. The phone loses its charge almost every day where as I never had this problem with my earlier phones. On more research found that the battery used PP511 has a huge memory effect (which is pretty bad) and seems almost everyone has this problem. Just search the internet with the the battery model number.Bottom line it looks great for the price, but is very expensive for this low quality piece from Panasonic.Moreover I bought this phone with a $40 mail in rebate from Panasonic which I never received after 6 months.

The phone has decent features and works okay. But if you are buying it with a mail-in-rebate and are buying it because of the rebate, I would caution against buying because their rebate department is horrible and most likely you will not see the rebate. They have a clause saying they are not responsible for lost mails in the rebate form and they will just say that it got lost in the mail and they cannot do anything. In fact they can find out if the check has been encashed but even if they can confirm from the bank that it has not been and most probably the person did not get the rebate check, they will still not do anything. Just will say that they are not responsible for the lost mail. But if you don't care about rebate and think it is good price then go ahead ....

I've had this phone system for 2 years (one main unit and 3 other stations). 2 very long and frustrating years. First: This phone has an audible feature that tells you that it needs to be charged. (This seems to happen only when you are using the phone.) However, its warning is also a signal that in the next few seconds you had better grab another phone or your call will be disconnected. Second: It eats batteries for its main course and for dessert it consumes another. Third: The screen is difficult to see in certain lighting. Fourth: I e-mailed Panasonic (February 2005) telling them how I've been a loyal consumer to their brand for over 25 years and how extremely disappointed I am in this system. They responded with"Dear MR DANSBYThank you for contacting Panasonic.Your patronage as a satisfied Panasonic customer is truly valued. Therefore, we appreciate this information regarding your experience with our product. We do regret to hear of your dissatisfaction. Be assured all consumer comments, whether favorable or not, are appreciated. All comments are investigated and given careful consideration in our continuing effort to produce high quality products, and customer service that consumers expect from our label.Thank you for taking the time and sharing your comments."I've not heard another word from them and one of our phones has died, so, as a result I'm dumping this entire system and going to one recommended by Consumer's Report. (Visualize this system lying on the driveway and a vehicle doing drive-overs; back and forth.)

The rechargable battery is worst .I ordered this phone in june 2005 and the battery is not charging well after 6 months .I couldnot speak at least for 10 minutes now .

So many people have complained about short battery life, I felt it was necessary to post some basic information about the Ni-Cad batteries used by this phone:"Ni-Cad has a chemistry-related problem known as "Memory Effect", which limits the discharge capacity of the cell if it is not completely discharged during each use."This means that in order to maximize the battery life, you need to:1) fully charge the battery for at least 15 hours before using handset for the first time (you only have to do this once)2) do NOT put the handset back in the cradle unless the battery is almost dead. This means putting the handset in the cradle ONLY WHEN NECESSARY for charging. The longer you can wait before recharging the batteries, the longer they will last.It really is a shame that panasonic didn't use another (better) battery type, but that doesn't mean that you can't enjoy acceptable battery life... it just means you have to follow the two steps above. Once I got used to leaving the handset off the cradle, I realized it was much handier not feeling that I had to put the phone in the cradle all the time to "top off" the battery.For $30 (shipped, after $40 panasonic rebate), if you need a new cordless phone/answering system/caller ID box, this is a great deal and can't be beat!Edit: I've had the phone for 2 months now, and I still go over a week between charging the battery...(and that's using the phone daily!)

I've had this phone for about a year now and I still love it and all it can do; I just bought one the expandable phones to go with it. Replaced the battery a month ago, old one worked well, just got old. Bought a generic long life one for cheap online to replace, works excellent! I also love the look of this phone, people notice it and admire it!

This product has a defective battery. I called Panasonic Customer service and they themselves say battery has problem and ask me to buy new battery!!!!. Even though they know this product battery is defective, they cannot send a new battery!!!. What a horible service?. I am not sure why Amazon is promoting this junk product !!!. I brought this product without looking at ratings, because my previous Panasonic codeless worked without any issue for 4+ years... I never could imagine amazon and Panasonic will dump such a defective product in market.If Amzon cares about their customers, I would ask Amazon(or Panasonic) to ship a New battery to all the customers who brought this Junk from Amazon.

I would update this review to 3 stars if I could figure out how to do so on Amazon's site. I think these phones should have better batteries than they do. Ni-Cad is very cheap with relatively low power density. Don't know how the recharge cycles compare to Ni-Mh or Li-Ion.If you buy this phone, just expect that once a year (perhaps more often) you'll need to replace the batteries which are expensive.Aside from the cost of the batteries the phone does what I would expect it to. Has good range and features. I like the speaker phone on the handsets very much. Wish the voicemail box was bigger than it is. We run out of space a lot because we like to hang on to funny voicemails.

I've had this phone for over a year.The Panasonic batteries are the biggest problem, because they fail after short periods and can be very expensive. (As another review suggested, I'm now trying the Energizer NiMH replacements, but it's too soon to tell.)Also, the additional headsets are markedly overpriced.Otherwise, sound quality is fair to good. It's poor when 2 people are on different extensions. Also, when on speakerphone, voicemail systems seem unable to hear the touchtones at times, so one needs to switch to using the handset directly.We're still using these phones, but obtained a new set from Uniden (with which I've had much greater success) in case these give us further trouble. Would recommend avoiding this series of Panasonic phones.

I bought this phone for 32 bucks through edealinfo promotion with out reading the reviews. After I purchased, my friend told me about the horror stories about how screwy the battery is including his own experience. But my experience so far has been great. Just remember to charge this phone for 15 hours (as the sticker says) and I did for 24 hours before my INITIAL use. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. Here are my observations:Charged for 24 hoursSo far lasted for 2 daysStill have have two battery lines out of three. It might go for another couple of days before I have to recharge it. Also recharge only when it prompts you to, not otherwise.Used the phone atleast for 4-5 hours in the last two daysHave used atleast an hour of speaker phone with full volumeGreat phone! all in all. Just remember to charge for long hours before the first use.Probably Panasonic has fixed the problem and most of the reviews if you see are dated atleast one and half to 2 years older if not more.

Inspite of charging the battery according to the instructions ( i.e. initial charge of 15 hours + recharge only when fully discharged + recharge till the batter is fully charged), the battery life slowly reduced to a couple of minutes (5-6 minutes max) in just 3-4 months of use. Now im wondering whether i should buy a new battery or a new phone. The voice quality on the other side of the line is not good though the quality of voice to the user of the handset is quite good. That however doesnt matter, as you really cant talk much when the battery is always low on calories
