Bought this projector for a function room at a football club. The quality is fantastic, true full HD, the quality with Sky HD is really really good. I've run a HDMI cable to the Sky Receiver and one to a wall plate so that a laptop can be plugged in. I've also run a VGA cable to the same wall plate. I'm projecting onto a wall where we have put 3 sheets of hardboard and painted it. The screen is a massive 13ft by 7ft.
The projector is simple to setup, the menu is easy to understand.
I attached the projector to the ceiling with a TecTake Projector Beamer Ceiling Mount Bracket. I needed to buy some M4 screws as the mpounting bracket did not come with them.
For £499 this is an absolute bargain and I would recommended it to you

Excellent quality in a very good price. The high contrast works great with 1080p bluray films (like a cinema), also delivers very well the motion of every film because of the 24 f/s. Another aspect is that the screen can be very big and the quality stays in high standards. Great projector!

Stunning picture, black blacks, vibrant colours, 3D works great (but I don't personally like 3D). Handles every video source I have thrown at it so far without a problem, even my camcorder and computer. Best thing I have bought in ages.

Great image. Were I to pick flaws it wold be the size of image you get at what distance. 2.5 meters for a 1.5 meter screen is not great. Also, I have a high shelf for my projector. The projector is designed to project up at an angle so I have to raise the back up and set the keystone to the max. I'll have to build a rig to mount it upside down to resolve this.

This projector is worth every penny, i bought the hd131xe and plugged everything into my AV receiver and using just 1 HDMi. I had to use optical sound output on some devices to get Dolby surround sound as it don't use HDMI arc.
Zoom and focus was easy to do and the remote control responded great for me.
I have sold my 46inch 3d TV as I will use a old HD TV for sky and this will only be used for gaming on PS4 , PS3 , and to watch movies on.
The gaming is great and less input lag then my old LCD SAMSUNG TV.
3D is how it should be seen and is the best I have witnessed and much better then my old TV.
The sonic glasses do work and all you have to do is turn on DLP link, no emitter needed and will save you more cash.
Cons. No lens cap , online manual only

We have thought about buying a projector for months. We were unsure about contrast and picture quality, but wow, this projector has just blown us away. The picture quality is awesome with HD and Blue Ray, and very good on DVD and standard definition TV. Haven't tried 3D yet. Very bright picture, but needs a dark room to show it at its best. The only criticism I can give it is the reds are just slightly to strong. I read reviews about moire patterns being visible from DLP projectors, but we haven't experienced this. Highly recommended

My trusted Optoma ds316l finally gave up the ghost after 5 years of constant use I used this as an excuse to myself to upgrade to HD at last. I had been so impressed with my first Optoma projector, I was only ever going to buy another Optoma model. After a lot of thought & research - this was the model to go for. This is absolutely outstanding. Makes my old one look so dire in comparison, & I'm still blown away each time I turn it on. I should have bitten the bullet many moons ago! If you're thinking about buying this, think no more. You will be very happy. Bring on the world cup on my 10ft screen!

This indeed does everything that it says on the spec sheet, and does it well, with no fuss or bother. Image quality is really good for the price. If you want better, be prepared to pay well over twice times as much, if you really must. Most people will never notice the difference, so why waste money?

This is fantastic! i have had numerous projectors in the last couple of years. Some have been for work use and some for my home cinema. Those that i had bought for my home cinema had previously been returned (amazon were 5 stars on accepting my returns). This was not the most expensive projector i bought or the cheapest, but it is by far the best! clear, crisp, bright picture which when in HD is just like being at the cinema. reasonably priced as well!

I was impressed with every aspect of this projector with one exception: if I focus the top part of the image, the bottom was out of focus and vice versa. I read the manual, tried adjusting all relevant settings and the projector's angle as against the screen. I have owned other Optoma projectors and so know what to expect. A potentially great projector, but unfortunately quality control means an Amazon return/replacement. The lens appears to be misaligned in this case. Frustrating. All other aspects met or exceeded expectations. Definitely worth 'a punt', but be aware that a return may be needed.
UPDATE: replacement unit has the same problem. This projector does a fine job for movies, but if you want it for presentations/training and need a sharp image across the screen, then this doesn't appear to be the right choice. My inexpensive Optoma pico projector manages a more consistent focus across the screen than this model, based on the 2 units I've tried.
UPDATE 2: 3rd unit is much the same. I can only assume this is the norm for this particular projector. Focus can be set to provide a razor-sharp image at the top (say) of the screen, but then the text at the bottom of the screen would be blurry enough to be headache-inducing. Maybe it's a case of 'you get what you pay for' and I'm expecting too much. I'd be interested to learn of others' experiences.

My old 720p InFocus X9 finally died after years of faithful service (fan not starting, horrible whirring noises). After considering my options, I went for an upgrade in both brightness (1800 ->2500 lumens) and resolution. The only complaint on the InFocus was the noise (30dB). The Optima has it beat hands down: I really believe they have erred on the side of caution with 28dB they claim.
So now I'm looking forward to World Cup action on a big (120") screen. And the games are great too.
Can't say about the 3D: got to get some specs and find some films to watch I suppose...

We've just received this today and is now set up, well sort of. Abit more tinkering about and it'll besorted. The picture qquality is amazing on this projector. We're really pleased with it and highly recommend.

After trwaling through many reviews about projectors, price brackets, performance vs this and that I went for the 131Xe as my first projector. It didnt disappoint especially with 3D. However, it stopped reading blu-ray media after a couple of months and only worked when I used the second HDMI port. I have come across other users who have had the same problem with the HDMI ports espcially with #1. Can't fault amazon. I had another projector within two days and have sent the other one back. Don't know how the high street retailers can compete with this type of customer service.

Picture quality is amazing and just works, Not too noisy either.
Got some cheap DLP link 3D glasses. A pair of Signstek 2 Pack 2014 Newest Version Detachable. only £18 and works a treat. Just make sure you switch in the DLP link mode in the settings. 3d seems really good.

The colour wheel is making an intermittent high pitch whiring noise like a dentist drill.
Disappointed but this is my 2nd optoma projector that has failed due to a colour wheel.
When they work they are exceptional, but quality control should be better.
On the plus side Amazon are excellent, they have sent a pre paid label and all i have to do is post the optoma back to them for a full refund, no hassle or extra grief. So thank you amazon

Really easy to set up and an amazing image, for the 3D viewers out there there is not visible shadowing when watching films.
Used this to play games on the PS3 and PS4 and they have looked amazing. The ZD301 glasses that you need to buy separately are decently priced with a comfortable viewing experience.
I bought this after my Hitachi stopped working (4 years) so I was nervous about getting something else, but my mistrust was ill placed as I have never been happier.

Bought this for my Dad's Pub for the World Cup and looks brilliant on 100" Duronic MPS100 16:9 pull down screen. Shame England didn't look as good on the pitch. Not played with all the features yet but am pleased with it out of the box.

Broken after just 16 months. Optoma UK (TSC Europe) have no interest in customer service and are impossible to deal with. Eventually quoted £385 to fix a £450 projector. HDMI failure which is very common apparently on all Optoma's.

It's a bit small, but fits well in the hand. Just be aware, if you want it soon, it will cost $10 to ship, and it's about the size of a Snickers candy bar. It also arrived sans the AAA batteries.

Excellent full HD projector. I have a small room for it but at 3m distance it still produces 190cm width srceen which I could not get it from BenQ projector. Amazing picture quality, easy set up, using it to watch movies and for my ps4. I am very happy with it so far.

After having read good reviews for similar projectors from Optoma I went for the HD131XE. The 1st one arrived and displayed vertical lines all over the screen (this was a corrupt image not a test pattern!) The replacement came and had vertical lines all over the screen, then white dots, then the lamp died.
The third one was ok.
When working the picture quality is great, but the in built speaker is very poor (not as good as my iPad in terms of clarity)
One week after the whole thing was sorted - the price went down by £60 - just what I needed to see!! Manufacturer wasn't very helpful from a technical point of view - get in touch with amazon was the message. Great now it's sorted , but I half expect to see the same fault appear with the one I have now.
Positive - Amazon customer service is really good. Call back, delivery etc...

I am giving a review simply because after 4 months of looking and reading about projectors, Being my first one I wanted to get it right, so I took the bull by the horns and pressed the buy now button . ho hell I've done it now, after two days of waiting
It's arrived.
Out of the box looks fantastic pluged it in set up my DVD and switched it on set my zoom and focus,
I had the biggest smile, the best choice I've made I don't know why it took me 4 months fantastic, love it,
I have given a five star because for me it does the job very well I am impressed, had it two weeks now watch it every night
Just the best gadget I've bought for a long time
It's arrived.

There is no lens cap even though this is shown in the promotional material and the manual, this is just penny-pinching meanness. And it probably is misleading in sale of goods terms.
The (electronic only) manual is misleading/vague. It took me ages to even get a picture. The way to reach buried items in the menus is not obvious and is not explained adequately. It's a classic example of a manual written by the designers- it's always better to get an outsider in!
When I did finally get a picture it was fine.
And the noise level is perfectly tolerable.

Not really much more i can add on to the other reviews they have pretty much got it in a nutshell.
All i can say is we love it.
Got it at roughly 90" at he moment, sharp picture, great colors, easy to use, can hardly hear the cooling fans at all, lots of adjustment, 3d is quite amazing.
To sum up worth every penny.

I've owned 5 projectors and this is by far the best... I'm tempted to buy another so that i can use the two to create actual 1080p full 3D PASSIVE.
So if you're considering wasting £1000+ on a measly 60" TV, just remember, those that play with projectors "MEASURE THEIR TV IN FEET NOT INCHES!!!!'

Only received this last night and set it up very quickly. Initial impression are very good and it performed for the 15 mins I had it switched on very quietly. I was a bit concerned about the noise level as this is my first projector and i have heard some can be very loud.
Projection from about 9 foot makes an image of about 80" which was tested with factory default settings (didn't have the time to set up completely) on an off white wall. However the quality was still very good and once this has been set up in my new house with a 133" screen it should be superb. Tested it with Star Wars Blu Ray and have to say i was like a 8 year old at Christmas my smile was soooo big :-)
Very good product as it is sturdily built. Only slight gripe is on the instructions it mentions it should have came with a lens cover but after a quick google it seems this is the norm for the model and it is therefore not missing.

Bought this about a week ago and plugged it into my Mac Airbook and it just works with full resolution projected onto an 80 inch screen.
Ideal for business purposes - I do a lot of work on complex spreadsheets and business forecasts and being able to show these to others on full resolution is great.
Plus tried running a David Attenborough DVD on Birds of Paradise and absolutely stunning!
Really looking forward to Christmas when we can share videos, photos etc. with family and friends and Skype those who are not present!
Have not tried 3D yet - glasses seem to be quite prices but may well go for it!

A stunning, very quiet, and cheap projector. When I tested the 3D, previously coming from a 40" Samsung top-end TV, it was astonishing. A totally different game! No ghosting, no flicker, and massively deep 3D. on Under the Sea, one fish comes out right across the room and in front of your nose.
Delighted with it.
(I bought 2 pairs of the Sainsonic 904's which the sellers says don't work. They do).

Firstly, full marks to Amazon, this was ordered and delivered the very next day as promised. It also came with other items ordered and again everything the very next day as promised. Amazon really excel at this quality of service.
Now the projector. I have upgraded from the HD 200x to the HD 131xe.
The 2d difference is a brighter image but quality is about the same. However I bought this for the 3D quality and its excellent and well recommended.

Had no focus problems as other reviews had noted. Quality of the picture is excellent, 3D picture is even more impressive. The quality is on a par or better than my previous 55" LED and Plasma TV's. Would highly recommend this projector, the best purchase I have made for years.

Excellent picture - it was returned for the "soft corners issue" - the collection and return being in less than one week.
I imagine the models purchased now will not have this fault.
The 2D and 3D pictures are stunning - crisp, bright and vibrant.
It is almost silent - it's fixed to the wall above my head and I certainly can't hear it running.
Tried the expensive RF glasses - bought one pair, but went for 4 pairs of DLP glasses - Sainsonic Zodiacs. The performance of the two items together outstrips my Samsung 3D plasma by a mile.
A great projector all round.
