I have been thinking about getting a serious racing rig which would include a racing wheel with integrated seat and pedals etc. The problem is space and cost ($500-1000). Now, there is no way this wheel would fit in with those plans but it will give you a taste for the next level of racing without much of the cost.To do that, the Speed Wheel will need to be responsive and precise. This is something that "motion control" has severely lacked. The Wii can barely read gestures correctly, the Kinect is also flaky and laggy, and PS move has similar issues. So, with all this, I was pretty skeptical that a digital motion sensing device could work well for steering controls. The good news is that motion sensing in the Speed Wheel is in a completely different class the from that on the Wii. The Speed Wheel is both precise and responsive as long as you are playing a game that has good "Advanced Wheel" settings. Games like Forza 3/4, Dirt 3 and a limited number of other car racing games on the Xbox 360. When used with these games, the steering input excellent and as responsive as a standard controller. In Dirt 3, you can (and should) change adjust the sensitivity and linearity depending on the style of driving. For drift heavy events, this can make a big difference. I believe similar settings are available in Forza 3/4 and the wheel probably works even best in Forza 4 since it was pretty much designed for that game. In Forza 4, for example, the lights on the end of the wheel will indicate advanced steering feedback (indicating shift change is needed?).In initial use, its also unlikely that this device will make you a better driver (much like other racing wheels) because it takes some time to adjust to throwing you hands around to quickly impart opposite lock without loosing all control. But it does feel more real than just flicking a thumb-stick back and forth which is sort of the whole point. Once you learn the basics, your scores will fall back in-line and you may even improve but that will based on your skill not the controller. One nice improvement on this wheel is the triggers are larger and have a longer and lighter throw. This makes precise throttle and brake control much better than with the standard controllers. The buttons on the right a much smaller than the standard controller and may even be too small for folks with large hands. the D-pad is also a bit smaller than standard but at least it properly oriented up/down to be used for gear changes.Overall, the motion control of this device is excellent but what about the rest of the package? Well, one minor issue is the lack of bumpers. The reason they left them off is that most games that support advanced wheels don't use them for anything that is not typically mapped to the d-pad like shifting gears. Because you don't have pedals, any LB/RB control would have you lifting off gas/break which is why LB/RB are not often used during racing. However, they forgot that people also need to deal with menus and the LB/RB can also be used for switching settings. You could even use them for linear gear shifts (i.e. paddle shifter) if you use two trigger fingers instead of one. Its possible, if the wheel sells, they could release a 2.0 version that fixed this but I doubt they will have the kind of sales to justify a new production run.Another issue with this controller is the limited number of games that can be controlled. You might think that arcade racers would also work well. But from what I have seen, that is not always the case. If the game does not have "Advanced Wheel" or support , the steering may have a huge dead-zone (45-90 degrees) and basically make the wheel unusable. And because the controller lacks RB/LB and there's is no way to configure the wheel outside of the games, its nearly impossible to use this controller with many/most arcade racers. You really need the advanced wheel support in-game for this controller to be any good. I did find that this wheel did work surprising well with some arcade racers like NFS Hot Pursuit and Split Second but not with other games like NFS San Francisco or Pure. So, its hit an miss if the game does not support advanced wheels.I have a bit if a problem with the fact that Microsoft does not supply this list of games along with the Speed Wheel advertising or documentation because anyone buying this for other games will generate and RMA. That is bad for both Microsoft and the consumer. As far as feedback, the rumble is very light, and it can't give you that kind of feedback you would get from a typical high-end wheel and pedals but you are only spending a fraction of that cost. In Dirt 3, you can turn up the rumble setting to its max which helps quite a bit.You should really only consider purchasing the Speed Wheel if you are Forza/Dirt fan who wants a different way to play those games. Don't expect to be using this wheel for Driver San Francisco or for driving in GTA 4. But if you really like those games and don't want to get i

Let me preface that my last experience was a steering wheel on the PC that you clamped to your desk. That experience was a decent one but the wheel kept moving around no matter how hard you clamped it to the desk. Plus, it was difficult to find settings that would work well and thus my experiences with using wheels for driving games died with that wheel.Fast forward to today and now I'm using the Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel. Like its name says, it's completely wireless and uses accelerometers to detect motion. It has accelerometers that can detect motions in all directions, meaning there's potential that this wheel can be used for flight simulators in the future. However, currently, only some driving games support the controller. The only game I have that supports the wheel is Forza Motorsport 4. The game developers have recently released a patch that improves this wheel's functionality in the game. The wheel has vibration feedback so when you're accelerating, braking, driving over sand, etc., you'll feel it.It took me awhile to dial in the control such that it felt natural for me to use it. The default Wireless Speed Wheel settings had me careening all over the play because the deadzone (the amount you turn the wheel and have it not actually turn) was too big for my taste. If you go to advanced settings, you can change every detail (though Turn10 did not provide details on what each of settings do). Here's the settings I use and I enjoy the wheel at this level. By lowering the amount of deadzone, it feels more twitchy and instantaneous so now it feels spot-on accurate, feeling every nuanced movement I make. I haven't had the wheel long so I'm still tweaking them. If anyone has settings they feel are better for this wheel, please let me know!:steering axis deadzone inside: 0steering axis deadzone outside: 40acceleration axis deadzone inside: 0acceleration axis deadzone outside: 40deceleration axis deadzone inside: 0deceleration axis deadzone outside: 40clutch axis deadzone inside: 0clutch axis deadzone outside: 40handbrake axis deadzone inside: 0handbrake axis deadzone outside: 40vibration scale: 100The default Turn10 settings (which I don't like):steering axis deadzone inside: 1steering axis deadzone outside: 95acceleration axis deadzone inside: 15acceleration axis deadzone outside: 100deceleration axis deadzone inside: 15deceleration axis deadzone outside: 95clutch axis deadzone inside: 15clutch axis deadzone outside: 90handbrake axis deadzone inside: 0handbrake axis deadzone outside: 100vibration scale: 100The negatives have been discussed in other reviews so I'll give my take on them. There are no bumper buttons (no LB and no RB). This is a major omission which doesn't affect gameplay in Forza Motorsport 4 (though it makes it harder to go through some menu settings) but it does affect how many games the controller can be used for. For example, this would be a perfect controller for a game like Ace Combat: Assault Horizon (an arcade flight game) but that game heavily uses the bumpers so the game developer would have to develop a game that didn't need bumpers in order to use this wheel. The other negative is that there is no headset jack in the wireless wheel. This means if you want to talk to your friends while playing with the wheel, you either need a wireless headset or you need a Kinect.Otherwise, I've been loving the wheel! It makes driving a lot more immersive. You don't have to have a huge rig in your family room, living room, etc. No need to clamp a wheel to a table or desk. No wires. When you're done playing, you just stick the compact wheel into a drawer. If you hate having big bulky expensive peripherals, this is the controller for you. And it's at a great price so you can buy multiple wheels and race with friends. I'm curious if this will work on a PC as I do have a wireless receiver. Will test soon...

I am a casual Xbox gamer, and I never got into the driving games because I never found driving with a controller to be engaging because it was so artificial and unlike a steering wheel. Being a casual gamer, I was unwilling to spend a ton of money for a steering wheel with pedals, etc. I'm a big fan of rally racing, so when Dirt 3 and this wheel both came out, I decided to take a chance on the the wheel. I'm glad I did. While I can't discuss how it works with other games, the wheel is amazing with Dirt 3. There is absolutely no lag between turning the wheel and the car turning. In fact, if you use the in car view while driving, you can actually see the steering wheel turn simultaneously with your hand movement. You can use the handbrake button to spin the car on hairpins. Oversteer and understeer seems very lifelike based upon steering, throttle, road conditions, etc. One note that may be obvious but wasn't to me because I haven't had to sync a controller since I got the XBox years ago: It's not clear in the directions, but in order to sync the wheel, the sync button on the back of the wheel has to face the XBox - In other words, the Xbox and controller won't sync unless the wheel is facing AWAY from the XBox One other tip - When using the replay feature, the replay would sometimes stop and repay in reverse even though I wasn't pressing any buttons. At first I thought it was a program bug, but it isn't. If the controller loses the XBox signal, which would happen when I watched the replay and dropped the controller to my side where furniture blocked the signal to the XBox, the replay won't work. As long as a signal is maintained, the replay works fine. Hope this helps!

I wanna start this thing off by saying that I'm not a hardcore racing gamer like some of these people sound. I'm just a normal, piss poor college student who likes to play racing games. I took a pretty considerable hiatus from racing games after forza 2/the original NFS most wanted because everything started sucking. I got back into it when i recently got Forza Horizon on black friday, and then bought forza 3/4 thereafter. I've had this wheel for about three weeks now, so heres what i think of it so far..Forza Horizon:This is the game I played with the wheel with at first. And to be honest, the first couple hours took a bit of getting used to... Its frustrating when you are constantly unwillingly drifting, and not coming out of turns how you want to circumstances out of your control. However somebody who wrote in the forums about the demo for this game made two recommendations that tremendously help you have more control. Changing the outside steering deadzone to 70 and the outside handbrake deadzone to 65 fixed these issues I had, but still, it takes practice to get good at this wheel and i'm still not to good at it.Forza 3:Oh man, I didn't have to change any settings for this to work seamlessly with Forza 3. After using the wheel, i finally see the usefullness in the cockpit view, and i love it with the wheel. It literally works perfect with Forza 3 (and Forza 4 i'd assume, but i haven't opened that game yet). The driver will match every precise angle you turn the wheel, and the car will drive exactly how you want it to.Like many others said, this controller doesn't have the RB or LB buttons, but it doesn't really bug me. It does exactly what it claims to do far better than i expected, and i only paid 20 bucks for it. Id recommend this to anybody who is looking for a wheel on a budget, because it works amazingly well (for forza at least) and it makes racing games a lot more enjoyable. Haven't played Forza 4 with it yet because I'm trying to be patient and enjoy FOrza 3 first.

As I close in on 50 years of age, I still get a major kick out of video games. So the XBOX seemed like a great early Christmas gift to myself. I don't need to be the top player, I just want to have fun playing some games.Thank you, Microsoft, for re-introducing me to the fun I had as a kid playing video games, starting with Pong, Sonic the Hedgehog, and pole position. The Atari 2600 & Sega Genesis are dinosaurs, by today's standards. But the old school games are still available, along with a new breed of high def.,high speed, high tech FUN. This wireless wheel is a perfect example of how far gaming has advanced. My wireless wheel came bundled with the Forza 4 game, with the purchase of my XBOX. I chose this bundle, rather than the other available Kinect & Halo bundles, because I will never get into the shoot `em up type games. I'm glad I made this particular selection, solely for the Forza 4 game, but especially for the wheel. I previously had given up playing a version of a Nascar racing game on PS2 because I just wasn't able to master the controls. With my XBOX, initially, I was unable to get the wheel to connect, and had to play with the wireless controller. Had a blast, but was chomping at the bit to play with the wheel. After surrendering & reading the instructions, I was able to play. Wow ! Even as a newbie, I could see a big difference. The objective may be to win races and advance by winning with the least amount of assists, but I'm loving driving around the track backwards, causing as many collisions as possible - for now. Sure, I've played around, the right way, also. And this is simply a blast to play. The wheel does everything that the pro's speak to in the other reviews. After getting the feel for the correct speed, diving into the corners was a piece of cake with the wheel responding exactly as expected. When I cut it too hard, it let me know by sending me into the wall or a spin. This wheel is very smooth. Very responsive, and predictive, with practice. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that enjoys driving games. Treat yourself. I did !

I got an Xbox 360 and Forza Motorsports 4 for the holidays and being a pretty big racing enthusiast I had to get a steering wheel.I originally had purchased a different wheel, one with pedals and that clamps to your coffee table (Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 Italia wheel) but I ended up returning it and getting this wireless one instead. And I'm glad I did, here's why:What I realized in researching steering wheels is that for the most part it's an "all or nothing" proposition. Either you get a dedicated setup with a racing chair, pedals, wheel, etc or else you just play with the standard controller. I have my Xbox setup in the living room and I don't want a wheel permanently displayed like a piece of furniture. Nor do I want wires running all over the place. At the same time, setting up one of those "full on" wheels takes a lot of work and you're unlikely to want to go through the effort just to play a quick game or two. As you can imagine, you have to get it out, hook up the cables, plug it in, clamp it to your table... The other downside to those big setups is that you need a ton of space to store them. Even if it's just a wheel and pedals that clamp to the table, they are still bulky and have a bunch of cables so you need a closet or something to store it in.So that leaves you with the standard Xbox controller, which frankly, isn't great for racing games. It's OK but not great. This wireless wheel though is the first thing I've seen that's right in the middle of the standard controller and a full, dedicated racing setup. It's small so it can be stored easily in a drawer and there is no time consuming setup process whenever you want to play. Just turn it on and your ready to go.Considering that though, I figured it couldn't be very good in terms of gameplay but I was wrong! This wheel far exceeded my expectations. There is a bit of a learning curve associated with it, but the steering response is great and very realistic. The portability, lack of wires, and easy setup make this a winner for me. Note that from what I read online, this wheel was designed in close collaboration with Forza 4, so I suspect that it may have better gameplay with that game than any others. But there are a couple of cons to be aware of:- When playing on the couch, your arms can get tired holding the wheel up in front of you since it's not mounted to anything. But I find this doesn't happen as much if I play standing up.- As noted in other reviews, it's missing the left and right bumper buttons. Not a big deal for gameplay, but in Forza 4 these are used when applying graphics to the cars and doing some other setup stuff.Overall, this is a great wheel but I'm only going to give it 4 stars because of the lack of the bumper buttons.

First off, I am a longtime Logitech user when it comes to racing wheels. I bought this due to the fact that it's cheap, easy to setup, and effective at offering a different way to play Forza 4. While this wheel does succeed in all of these areas, it does so without being enjoyable, which is why I decided to give it a low score. Here's the good. It is very accurate for a completely wireless wheel. It responds exactly how you would expect it to respond, and there's no lag or undesired effects. It is very easy to setup, and is therefore a very casual solution when it comes to using a racing wheel. You don't need to have an ideal layout, nor do you need a special chair or wheel stand in order to properly enjoy it. You can just turn on your 360, and instantly enjoy racing with this wheel while sitting on your couch. To top it all off, it's only $60, which is about half as much as other cheap racing wheel solutions. So, by now you must be wondering what my problem is. It is really quite simple: this wheel does not make the the game anymore enjoyable, nor is it entertaining to use, which is really quite a shame, especially considering how highly rated it has been so far. I immediately noticed how it is a lot harder to play the game with this wheel. While the vibration does help out when it comes to feeling a loss of traction, the fact there there's no force feedback beyond vibration makes driving with it very inaccurate. I spent most of my time crashing and spinning out, and I also hated how hard it was to get a feel for my car. It didn't take long for me to give up on trying to play Forza 4 with this wheel due to how difficult the entire experience was. In comparison, I find myself to be far more accurate while using a wheel such as Logitech's G25 or driving force GT in comparison to a controller. Meanwhile, I couldn't wait until I got back to playing the game with my standard controller when it came to playing Forza with this new wheel.I decided to give this a bonus star just for being cheap, since to be honest, it's quite a nice product for the money. However, the entire experience of playing a game with this wheel just left a bad taste in my mouth, and it in no way made the game any more enjoyable (it made the game far less enjoyable to be honest). Since I purchased this wheel to add enjoyment to a racing simulator, I am completely disappointed with this product. Maybe it's due to the fact that I prefer to play Forza 4 with simulation settings, and assists turned off, but for some reason it just simply feels like it's too devoid of feedback to work for a sim racing game. If you don't plan on playing Forza with this wheel, and plan on using it with nothing besides arcade racers, add 2 stars to the final score, as I am sure this wheel works fine for a game that doesn't demand pinpoint accuracy. As it stands for the reasons I bought it, I am giving this wheel a score of 2 stars due to the fact that I bought it for Forza, while looking for a more enjoyable way to play the game. As it turns out, Forza 4 is simply too realistic for this wheel.

First off, if you're a hardcore simulation fan and are looking for a wheel to enhance the realism of your games, this is not for you. Think of this more as the offspring of a normal Xbox 360 controller and that tiny steering wheel that came with the Wii version of Mario Kart.In a nutshell, this is a motion-sensitive controller intended to be used for driving games. And by "driving games" I mean Forza 4. Pretty much anything older than that will only recognize it as a generic driving wheel, which may or may not limit your ability to configure it. I've also tried it with NFS: Hot Pursuit, Dirt 3, and Forza 3, and it works reasonably well for steering, brake, and throttle, but you may encounter issues with getting the buttons set up the way you like for anything else. The greatest flaw with this controller is that it totally lacks the shoulder buttons (LB and RB), meaning that even in Forza 4 you can't navigate certain menus, and any game that relies on those buttons will have problems. This design decision was just plain stupid, and I'd bet good money that if a Wireless Speed Wheel version 2 ever comes out, they'll include these buttons. That said, I do like this controller. It's cheap enough that I can still geek out and pretend I'm really driving without spending $500 on some crazy driving rig. It's also nicely responsive, and the triggers used for throttle and braking (LT and RT) are vastly superior to those you'd find on a normal controller. It will take a few races to get used to, but once you've figured it out you won't want to play with the normal controller any more. With Forza 4, it also does a nifty thing where the tops of the "U" light up as your engine RPMs increase, the clutch is depressed, and other things. Very nice.Still, it's flawed. Lacking LB and RB is the most significant problem, but there are other niggles. For instance, if you sit it on a table, it doesn't sit flat. The triggers extend beyond the base, so the only way to sit it down is with the triggers depressed. Fine if you put it on an armrest, but poor design. The vibration is also quite weak, making it almost pointless to have it turned on.Also, if you have your Xbox set up so that your controllers go to sleep after a certain time period, it may cause problems. At least with Forza 4, a WSW that turns itself off is recognized only as a generic wheel when you turn it back on. This can be a pain, as the default for a generic steering wheel is quite unlike the default for the WSW (if this happens, you may be able to go into controller settings and change it to a similar setup. #5 worked well for me). While I've focused a bit on the problems with this controller, the truth is that I quite like it. It is what it is, and what it is is a relatively inexpensive approximation of a steering wheel. It's far from perfect, but it's nowhere near as expensive as the real steering wheel controllers, and it's still fun to use. If you want a real steering wheel, save up and buy one. If you want a cheaper alternative, this isn't a bad one, despite the frustrations.

I just built an Eyefinity gaming system and wanted to try different games and accessories. I got Dirt 3 with the graphics card, so that's where I began.I first bought the XBOX 360 Wireless Game Controller *FOR THE PC*. I read there are two different versions, so I was sure to get one that said "FOR PC*. It came with a USB Dongle to receive the wireless signals. I like the controller but saw some steering wheels for sale and thought I'd like to try one for Dirt 3.You see the Hydraulic steering systems? Pretty awesome, but for THAT price, I can buy TWO REAL cars. I also don't want to sink the money into the steering wheel systems in the $250.00 range. That's still way too high right now, Maybe later. Plus, with the whole wheel/pedal set-up, I think I'd be spending too much time in an uncomfortable position, or fighting to get the wheel and pedals in the right spot. SO, I decided to try this. I had read around how this did work with PC's, but I thought it would also have come with a wireless Dongle. It did not.Once I got it, I had to pop the batteries out of the other controller and then sync this up with the Dongle I got with the handheld controller. The first race I played with it, I hated it. First thought was, "I want to send it back". As I played more runs with it though, I got more use to it. It actually seemed more responsive in other races, so I don't know if its accuracy is different in different races, but it sure seemed that way to me.It's not great, but it's not so bad either. It seems to need close to a 90% turn to affect it most times, and in some races, it seemed like there was a lag in the response. Other races in the same game it seemed pretty accurate. I wish the program actually had some sort of calibration built in to set where the max left, max right and center were, so you could control how tight the steering was. I am new to this, so maybe some have this feature?PRO'SMore like steering than controllerReasonable PriceWorks with Wireless XBOX 360 Controller for PC's DongleNice LayoutWeighted and comfortable.CON'SDoesn't come with Wireless USB Dongle for PCSome response lag in certain RacesNo method of calibration for start and end of steering wheel turn. Not easy to shut off controller and turn Wheel on, then back again.Wish they had made a power switch and the ability to remember the channel, so I could switch easier and not have to re-sync them up.For the price, it's OK though. I may like it more as I use it more.

I purchased this wheel last night to go along with my new purchase of Forza 4, which I bought at 8AM on the day of it's release. I played Forza 3 since release, and have been a huge competitive player of Forza for some time now, spending much of my time on my Xbox tuning, upgrading and making cars specialized for certain tracks, and most of my lap times are in the top 1%, albeit at the wrong end of it. I'm not trying to brag here, I'll explain in the next paragraph. All of the reviews I read about this wheel said that it's for "casual" gamers and wouldn't really suit the needs of anyone who's competitive or plays on the Simulation steering selectionMany reviews, including CNET and IGN and others, really made it sound like this wheel isn't for anyone who is serious about forza, and rather illuminated it as if it's a neat little toy for someone who wants to get someone into the game and doesn't race very often, or plays Wii a lot. I want it to make this VERY clear;THIS IS NOT THE CASE.This wheel is fantastic, it simply takes some getting used to. The movement of the wheel is 1-to-1 on the screen, meaning that in "cockpit view" in Forza 4, your wheel will turn at the precise time, precise angle, and in the exact velocity that you turn the Speed Wheel. My first race using it, I wrecked all over the place. I tried to dive right into an un-assisted A-Class race in a '69 Fairlady Z, and it became apparent to me after a few attempts that I'm going to have to re-learn how to play this game. I proceeded to start a hot lap on Infineon Raceway (Sears Point, screw you infineon) in a A class '65 Mustang that loves to drift, and practiced for about an hour. Soon enough my laps got within 2 or 3 seconds of the top in the game. Later, I posted a 1:45.8-- on "Star in a reasonably priced car" Top Gear Challenge, faster than several times of my competitive friends who race with controllers. No assists on anything I did. Conclusion; it's a great wheel, a lot of fun, and makes for some fantastic drifting experiences, throwing the wheel from left to right and back to correct and re-correct... incredibly accurate, fast, and fun. The people who reviewed it didn't spend enough time to get good with it. They played for a few minutes and came to an inaccurate conclusion that didn't reflect the true potential of this fun little controller that makes the Wii Wheel look, and feel, like a joke.Downside: No left/right bumpers or a slot for your wired microphone. The former is annoying because not all the menus in Forza can be navigated without the LR bumpers, mainly in the Community section and decals/paints. However, I can understand the omission of the wired microphone slot, I can see myself getting frustrated and tangled in the wire of the headset while throwing the wheel around.Pick it up if you play Forza, practice for a bit, and you'll have a blast.Race with me! The good news is that this controller is way better than a Wiimote in a plastic wheel. It's honestly a great solution for driving games without the bulk, hassle, and cost of a full fledged wheel setup but better than the standard controller or the aforementioned Wiimote setup. At first it was a tough transition from the standard controller at first, with oversteer being the biggest issue. In time my times improved, mostly by avoiding the wild spells of oversteer turning into a complete loss of control. As an added bonus, in Forza my corners used to score mostly 1s and 4s, where now I routinely get 2s and 3s (plus the 1s and 4s). I'm guessing it's showing a greater deal of consistency, and I know passing and drifting is way easier. Would a full wheel setup be better? Definitely, but it would take way more room in my living room. With this, I can throw it under the couch or whatnot. The bad news? Well that's baffling. I understand the lack of analog sticks, as the wheel replicates most of that, but the wheel has no should buttons. That's a huge loss for driving/racing games, as these buttons often are used for shifting. Hell, even Microsoft's own Forza series uses it extensively for setup. I couldn't even change the setup (to reduce the oversteer I mentioned above), as you need shoulder buttons to tab over. Frankly I cannot fathom why Microsoft didn't find some place to put the buttons. Even a crappy location is better than nothing. The light up ends are gimmicky, and I'd rather have should buttons. Other than that, ergonomics aren't great. It's not a huge deal, but, it could be quite a bit better. Do know that this wheel isn't compatible with rechargeable battery packs, the charge and play kit, or and voice chat capability. Frankly it really doesn't seem like a 1st party effort. It does work beautifully wirelessly however. In the end, I really like the controller. It didn't cost too much, and it's not another bulky peripheral. If it had shoulder buttons, it would be a 5 star product.

I was a bit doubtful at first, because I'm not even that big of a racing game player, nor have I ever used any motion-sensing controller, but this controller really is quite spectacular. It took a lot of getting used to, but after a day or two, I was racing as if I were using my standard controller. In fact, I tried to go back to racing with a regular controller for a bit, and did terrible, as I had literally forgotten how to drive with an analog stick. It's extremely responsive, and the controller moves 1-to-1 in the game with you. Turn the wheel an inch, the steering wheel in-game turns an inch. The only complaint I have is the absence of LB and RB buttons which makes it tough and sometimes impossible to navigate through menus. I use this for Forza 3, and when the need arises to go into car customization menus, I'm extremely limited because I need LB and RB buttons to shift menus. I have to disconnect the wheel and turn on my standard controller, do what I need to do, turn off the controller, then turn on my wheel to continue driving with it. Other than that, it's a great controller. I would absolutely recommend it to others.

The only driving game I play on xbox is F1 2011 (pretty much the only game I play). I was using the xbox controller before, but the car was always twitchy and difficult to control... it was hard to make precise turns since there always seemed to be a little lag when turning with the stick. On straightaways, it was hard to move over to block a pass without going too far into the wall. I wanted a wheel, but had zero interest in a full wheel and pedal setup, since I "drive" in my living room, and there is really no place to set one up.The wireless speed wheel made a HUGE difference. It is nice and compact, so I can put it away with the other controllers when not in use. I can keep the car straight, and drift over to block if I need to. Turns are much more precise and quick... I can hit a curb with more control. Left-right-left turns are no problem now. Overall, it makes the game so much more fun. With better control of the car, I was also able to increase the difficulty level and have more realistic races. The only downside is that it is missing two L and R buttons that are on the controller above the triggers. In F1 2011, I believe one button was KERS which was remapped to the B button on the wheel (you can change it), and the other button was used to fast forward time in the practice and qualifying sessions (a function that was completely lost with the wheel). I don't know why they didn't just include those buttons, but I guess they had their reasons. Also, the ability to look left and right is lost (not a big deal, since I never really did that during races) Anyway, the wheel is still a major improvement over the standard xbox controller for driving and I don't think I'd play without it.

I just bought Forza 4, and immediately took to the game. With the regular Xbox controller, I was having trouble keeping my fingers on the steering and braking controls. I knew I would be playing this game and perhaps other racing games, so I went to check out steering wheels. At first, I was skeptical that a wheel at this price range would make me happy, but I really checked out the reviews and other web site info. I just finished racing for the first time with this wheel, and it has exceeded my expectations. Because it is a twin for the regular controller. I was familiar with the buttons and controls. I did have to refresh myself on syncing a new controller to the Xbox 360, and the instructions were not much help in this regard, but the Microsoft website for this wheel is very good at set-up instructions. Other reviews hammered on the missing L/R buttons, but I never used them in other racing games, unless it was a brake, so this was not a deal breaker for me.As others report, it will take some practice. I backed off to the easy setting in the game and raced a few times, then I moved to difficult. Yes, it is not your father's controller. The response from moving the steering wheel to the game wheel is amazing. It is very sensitive, without any jerky motion. It feels more natural and it's much more realistic than tapping a stick control. I also get a bigger kick out of passing others. With Forza Horizons on the horizon in October, I'm delighted with this purchase. Would be nice if it worked with all games, but that's more up to the game authors than Microsoft. I could never master the NFS series, because I was always going from side to side, constantly crashing into things, so I don't care that this wheel doesn't work for those games. For me, it's worth every penny just to use it for Forza 4.

I haven't played with other wheels, but this one makes the game more real and excited. You just have to find the best way to use it since if you try to drive as if you were in a real car it will really make your arms feel tired in a second, but the best way (and the one I found for default use) to use it, is to place your hands on your legs just like the normal xbox controller.I bought two of them, to play with my wife and unfortunately one wheel for that order was bad, it started to work fine but in the middle of the race it started to go from left to right sharply so I returned and ask for a replace and now I have the new one and I have to say that this one works perfect.I have used with Forza 4 and Forza Horizon, and I crecommend this wheel and also is a cheap one.

I'm using this wheel with Forza 4 and Forza Horizons. It is surprisingly effective...as a hardcore PC sim-junkie, I thought this thing would just be plain silly, and probably useless. I was pleasantly surprised when I actually started using it. Granted, it's not at all like a full wheel and pedal setup, but it's much better than the standard controller for driving, and it costs a lot less than most wheel and pedal sets - if you can even find a good one for the Xbox anymore. My only criticism is that there are no bumper buttons, which makes it impossible to navigate certain game menus, like the tuning screens in Forza 4. And in Forza Horizon, none of the mappings I could find allow you to map glance left/right, though I may have missed a setting somewhere on that.Still, for the price, it's a great wheel - and more important, with it, I can win races...without, I just end up wrapped around a tree.

I just got this and I have to say that I am impressed. My original fear was that it would be hard to use and not feel like a real wheel at all, but this is balanced in a way that you actually end up steering around the the central point instead of flailing it about like with the steering wheels that you hook up a Wii remote too.The response time with this is amazing, it's practically zero and since the transfer is 1:1 you can actually fine tune your steering unlike with a joystick on a standard controller. My only real complaint is the lack of the RB and LB buttons, it doesn't make a difference in actually game play but navigation through the menus can be tricky, and nobody likes to have two controllers to navigate.Overall this is a great product, if it wasn't for the lack of the bumpers I would have given it 5 stars.

Ужасно
At first, it was good: I had a great time, and had fun. But then after 6 times of play for an hour each time, the vibration stopped working. It would only turn back on when I dis and reconnected the wheel. Then, the next time I used the remote, - believe it or not- it would disconnect itself every 2nd time I hit another racer! Finally, the next time I played the game (Forza Horizon),every about 10 seconds, it would disconnect itself. I don't even want to mention the vibration feedback wasn't working also. Overall, if the product worked for a longer period of time, I would've been able to give this product a 5 star and would've been able to be exhilarated by the wonders of this product as it did the first week.

This is an exceptionally accurate wheel that lines up perfectly with the in game (out of winshield) perspecitve of Forza Horizon. The design is similar to the F1 wheels used in real life, so it would likely work well with F1 racing games as well.I think you would be hard pressed to find a better or more accurate wheel (i.e., expect to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars and have a whole lot of gear that requires at least 20 min of set up time). Some prople say that using it over time can eventually make their shoulders tired, but I have not experienced this. Compared to the exercises that actual race car drivers do (like holding a 35 lb. weight in front of them and moving it like a steering wheel) this is of course nothing, and the wheel is not at all too heavy.Honestly, I am shocked at how responsive it is, and for ~$25, it is a no-brainer. This one is a blast -- highly recommend!!!

I played it on 5 of the most well-known racing games for the 360 and well...i would take a Wii-mote over this thing ANY day. It's gyro-senor can be too-easily "upset", hence, causing it to turn too deep and slam you into a wall, run you off a cliff, or into oncoming traffic.Sometimes it's sensitivity is sharp but it can turn (quickly) sloppy with too much of a dead zone and i'm using "fresh" batteries. You're way way WAY better off using a thumb controller or getting a ZIM Edge to use the keyboard interface (which is far superior in accuracy) than using this thing. I'm going to get a refund. After running it on 3 "Forza", 2 "Need For Speed", and a few other games it was a real disappointment. I'm sure less experiences gamers will argue but then they always do :)It's just not what they make it out to be.....not even close.

Bought this in conjunction with Nascar 2011 and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, both for Xbox. Does not work with Nascar 2011. It is very sluggish with NFS, and really doesn't seem to have enough turning ratio for the game. Car doesn't actually start to turn soon enough, and when it does, it's like you were taking a slow Sunday drive and barely turning the wheel. Coming out of power slides is the worst, as it won't respond fast enough to counter the skid in time, leading to multiple crashes and potential loss of digital player's life as well as digital bystanders' lives. Also, after installation, I can no longer use the left or right triggers with this or my original Xbox controllers in the Xbox menus (most notably entering pass code for Xbox Live account). I have not tried it with any other racing games, but at this point I can't recommend it.

As another reviewer had stated, I too was hesitant about purchasing this wheel. After not even 5 minutes of use, I was hooked. I love it. So much, I bought two. People voice concerns about the lack of shoulder buttons. I can't understand why they weren't included above the triggers, but honestly, I do not miss them. Forza 4 will tell you there are limitations to the wheel controller, but this notice has only come up for me when going to the paint shop. I don't really rice up my car too much with horsepower vinyls, so I haven't explored those limitations, nor do I really care. I would expect this to not work with older games. I think one reviewer put together a list of supported games. As expected Burnout Revenge is too old to be supported and that's a shame, but oh well. Pick this wheel up! You won't be sorry... unless you can't live without shoulder buttons.

Yes, you have to re-learn how to drive with this wheel, and you have to go back and grab a low end slow car and learn how to steer with the wheel, but once you do it feels so right.I was a driver level 52 and in the Championship series, and when I got this wheel I started over the whole game. Driving with the regular controller now feels like cheating and I don't respect any of my former records.the only reason i don't give it a full 5 stars is that it is missing the left and right buttons and the second joystick so there are things in the game you cannot do. you cannot work the paint center and the decals without going back over to the regular controller.all in all, I love it.

I love cars. I love watching them at the dragstrip, at the track, and even sitting in a showroom. However I'm terrible at racing games. I crash into walls on straightaways!I tried the speed wheel at a big box store and was happy to learn I can enjoy cars in video games now! The wheel is very simple to use and gives you better control of the vehicle on screen.I've only played Forza 3 and only had one small issue; there is no RB/LB for moving through the menus! You can get to a race and simple menu commands, but customizing your car and such are a no-go. Hopefully this is not the case in all games, but it's almost more of a software issue rather than hardware.Overall, if you like racing games but find a standard controller to be crap, buy this wheel. Certainly there are more hardcore wheels out there, but for a more casual experience this is great.
