What is your primary consideration when buying external speakers for your laptop? If it's small size and portability, then you won't like this. If you want great sound, and you're going to use the laptop in pretty much the same location every day, then the Logitech Audio Hub is a great choice. I've been using it to listen to classical guitar and opera, and find it has a rich sound and plenty of range. You can turn the lighted volume knob up all the way and you won't get vibration or distortion. The sound isn't going to fill an auditorium, but it's more than adequate for an office.It wasn't clear to me in the pictures, but the unit doesn't attach directly to the back of your laptop, like a true docking station - it connects with a USB cable. It doesn't have to be flush up to the back of your laptop. While it does take up one of your computer's own USB ports, it gives you access to three additional USB ports that are part of the Audio Hub itself. There is an indicator light that lets you know when the USB hub is on/off. If you use your laptop with a wireless keyboard, or other non-portable devices, you can leave them plugged into the Audio Hub at your primary location when you're taking your laptop on the road - so, the Audio Hub functions as a kind of docking station, too.For those who use an external web cam, there is a special mounting bracket that you can add to the back of the Audio Hub. This is a nice extra with a more stable mount and a neater appearance than using a stack of books behind your computer. Using or not using the bracket has no impact on the other features of the Audio Hub, it was just a thoughtful engineering touch. Things like that make me believe that as much thought went into engineering the rest of the unit - the parts that don't always show.As speakers go, these have outstanding sound quality. The Audio Hub also includes some very nice extras that go way beyond what I'd expect from external speakers. My only quibble with the Audio Hub is that it requires yet another electrical outlet. Recommended!

I got it for my new HP 16 inch wide screen Laptop. It just fit, so don't think it will fit an 18 inch as advertised. The sound it full and clear, even at the highest volume, but this unit is made strictly for personal usage. It will not fill-up a room with sound as others have written, but within 6-7 feet away it performs well. just because it's self- powered don't think it will thump-up the volume like the Logitech 2300, the volume seems to have a fixed max on this unit that is OK for around the laptop usage. The added USB connector adapter is a good addition because it takes some of the stress off the much smaller cord that comes with the unit.All-in all, you get a rich sound from a set of low profile speakers. The only con is that the USB connector is much too long. I fear it could be bent or broken. My thinking is, if it's not wireless, why does the USB connector need to be so long?

Considering the discount (slashed?) price I didn't know what to expect. Since I needed more USB ports I decided to order one just to check it out. It arrived in good order, in fact, it was considerably overpackaged by both Logitech and the seller. When I plugged it into my laptop it hooked itself up, added itself to a few places and shut the headphone jack on my computer down. Then I pulled up my media player and was pleasantly surprised. Yes, I did have to tweak the equalizer a bit (high end response is really there; I also massaged the bass a little), but that was all. If you travel, you will love this. The USB port function works perfectly. It even comes with a camera mount and something I did not expect (and found out I needed): a USB extension cable. Aside from the USB and the power cord, that's all there is to it. I guess, and you could say it's me being old school, I expected the sound quality to be nowhere near as good as it is, but it is. Highs are clear and not strident, mids impressive, lows rumble just enough. I like this little outfit.

These "notebook" speakers are designed for those who use their laptops in the same place, day after day. They weigh almost as much as my MacBook and, because they come in a long, solid piece, are more awkward to carry. If you are looking for portable speakers to take with you on vacation or on business trips, skip this product. If you're looking for rich audio at home or at school, read on.This unit is truly plug-and-play, with no installation disks and a minimal manual. Simply plug the power cord into an outlet (these speakers cannot run on battery power) and plug the USB cable into your computer. The end speakers can slide about two inches wider on both sides to keep various size screens from blocking the sound. The speaker unit comes with a USB cable, a USB cable extender (especially important if your USB slots are on the left side of your notebook), a bracket for holding a webcam above the laptop screen, and a 100-240 V power adaptor. Three USB ports are located behind the right speaker, although the topmost slot is too tight for fatter devices/plugs. These ports are essential since the speakers themselves take a USB slot on your notebook, and you probably have a mouse attached to another.The sound is rich and without annoying hum at both the loudest and softest volumes. While many portable speaker units sound tinny when the volume is cranked up, the Logitech AudioHub sounds surprisingly steady. Yeah, you're not getting the highest end audio here, but you'll definitely get quality sound for the money. The volume knob on the side glows orange, making it easy to locate even at night.The AudioHub is perfect for college students who don't have the space for larger speakers but who don't want to sacrifice sound quality as well as for people who use their notebooks in the same place every day. Although the speakers would work fine with a desktop computer, their single-unit construction makes them less than ideal. The only real advantage of this unit over similar sounding speakers is the ability to unplug it and move everything to the side with one action.

The Logitech Audio is a great piece of hardware. Not only is it a speaker system for your laptop (or desktop), but it is also a USB hub (it has 3 USB ports on it). Although not exactly portable, it is smaller than most 2.1 systems. It is the perfect size for a dorm, which is exactly what I bought it for. Most importantly, for the price I bought it for ($30 on circuitcity.com), the sound is mesmerizing. The bass is slightly lacking, but I cannot complain; there's still bass but not surface-shaking bass. The sound is crystal-clear and it is a HUGE improvement over the terrible speakers on laptops. The better the quality of the mp3 or movie you are playing, the better the sound output will be and the more you will appreciate it. The volume definitely fills a dorm room up. It's incredible how loud it can get without getting so distorted. I use this for my MacBook and setup is easy. Just plug it in a USB port, then plug in the power cord, and change your sound output to the AudioHub in the System preferences. You're done in about 2-4 minutes. Overall, I completely recommend it because of its size, price, great sound, simplicity to setup, and USB Hubs.

This is a great set of speakers, in terms of comfort, power, suitability and price. I bought this set for about $30 to go with my laptop as I moved away for school, and could not be more satisfied. They fit into almost any size laptop, standing right behind to serve as a backboard as well. The extra usb ports are a pleasant addition as well as the webcam holder. They are loud - I could hear them easily from two rooms down, behind doors, so power should not be a worry. They look superior to any other plain set of speakers, and the volume knob on the side is convenient as well. They are not portable, but better left on the table as a permanent set for the laptop. Regardless, it is definitely an item I would recommend to someone looking for complementary speakers for their laptop.

Being a sound guy, I'm pretty picky about sound, but am willing to not have extremely high expectations for anything under $100 that doesn't fit in the palm of your hand.However, the Logitech AudioHub speakers are a pleasant surprise. At about 16 inches wide closed, these aren't for casual carrying around in a laptop bag. BUT if you're stuck in a hotel and love your music, these are the best you're going to find short of wrapping up your messy computer speakers.Basically, there are two 2" tweeters and what looks like a 4" woofer which does a decent job in delivering bass. It's rare to have a set of speakers this size where playing with the iTunes EQ actually makes a difference and offers and analog to a real stereo system and sounding great and even 3x louder than laptop speakers.I'm taking a business trip and these will be in my bag for sure. The only real weakness aside from their awkward shape, is the thin layer fabric protecting your tweeters from getting dinged. I'll probably cut a piece of cardboard to go over it when putting into my luggage.

I really like this laptop speaker system. it works in conjunction with the volume control of your laptop. this speaker system will amplify the level of volume you set your laptop. it's really clear and can really boost the volume of your laptop. the only drawback is that it's bulky. it's not for someone that's on the go.but I definitely recommend this speaker system for someone that wants more than what the laptop speakers can offer.

My primary computer is a Sony Vaio laptop. I love it, but the sound from the tiny speakers is not very good. The Logitech Speakers provide very good sound when watching videos or listening to music on the PC.Although some reviewers have said they travel with the speakers, in my opinion they are too bulky and heavy to take on a trip, especially if traveling by air. However, they do not take up too much space on the desktop. The speakers fit nicely behind the laptop, and they can be adjusted to the width of the laptop. This design is more compact and easier to manage than having two separate speakers floating around on the desk.Having more USB ports available is always a good thing, and the Logitech speakers include a three-port USB hub.The sound from my laptop speakers sometimes seems too quiet, even when at the highest level. With the Logitech speakers I can get additional volume, so when the volume is low I do not have to resort to using headphones to be able to hear.If you use your laptop mostly in one place (home or office) and want a solution that will provide richer, higher-quality sound, the Logitech AudioHub Speakers are a good choice.

I have a Toshiba notebook that is my primary computer. I use it 30-40 hours per week. I was looking for a USB hub when I found this product. I've used Logitech trackballs for a number of years and have found the devices to be excellent products.The AudioHub was available on Amazon with a mail-in rebate, which lowered the price to within $15 of a 4-port hub. Since this product comes with three USB ports located behind the right speaker, I felt this device would solve my needs. The speakers would be a bonus.Calling the speakers a "bonus" is an understatement.I now can enjoy Netflix on-demand movies. The 2.1 speaker system provides excellent sound. I take this product with me on the road and watch movies in my hotel room. Hotel pay-per-view movies cost $10-$15, so this system paid for itself several times over.At home, I download new movie trailers -- some in HD format -- and share them with my family.I have no complaints about the size and weight of the device. Along with my notebook bag, I carry all of my computer peripherals in a separate canvas bag (I'm green, I guess). The speakers extend to wrap around the back of my notebook monitor and create the surround sound experience.BTW: This comes with a mounting bracket for an external web cam. I don't use a web cam, so I cannot provide you a review of its usefulness.

I bought this AudioHub speaker system in a kit with a wireless mouse & keyboard combo. At first it seamed like a much better look for under my 22" LCD widescreen, which is on an elavated swing arm. But when I compared the sound to my Bose Media Mates, it was no comparison. I am still going to use them at my office, because I can't turn up the sound much there and they do look nice. The 3 extra USB sockets come in handy for my thumdrive too. Overall I had two take to stars away, because their main function should be sound quality.

The speakers arrived as described. They work great with my laptop and have better sound than the several other sets in the same price range I have had in the past. The fact that they are one piece is very convenient for the laptop. Seller shipped the item quickly.

As others have said, this is a pretty solid speaker system. Although some reviewers have said that this piece would be heavy to carry with you, i would disagree. It fits perfectly in my Targus 15' notebook backpack (with notebook and all its components and i was also able to fit in a camera bag as well). The portability of this speaker system is not an issue to me, but then again this is just my opinion.

Well, it is only ok.. the sounds not all that, it's just ok... and it's big and clunky... it is not a unit that you can load into you lap top carying bag. cords going all over the place, between the laptop power adapter and the speaker adapter.. not everyone has a desk that they keep set up just to park the laptop and hook up these speakers.I'll keep looking for something that is a little more portable. Why don't the laptop manufactures add more than earphone jack?

I bought this speaker for my wife after having bought her a new laptop whose only limitation was a very week internal speaker. I found this one at Amazon for $20 on sale. The only comments that were negative seemed to be from people expecting a $100 speaker. But, for a $20 speaker, it's all she wanted and more. It's got good bass and a clear sound. It fits easily behind her 15" laptop screen.As others have said, this speaker is not the most easily portable, but, paraphrasing Barack Obama at an early primary debate with Hillary Clinton, "You're portable enough." She can take it in her bag to school, where she teaches, and take it home with little difficulty.It makes her happy and does all she wants with all the quality her ears need to hear.Marc

These speakers are great. I use my laptop in one place so the weight and size don't matter. It has rich sound, which for the price, I was pleasantly surprised. The USB cord was just the right length to plug in on the left (it comes with a USB extender cable just-in-case). Its easy to install, looks super sleek, and has a great volume range. The extra USB ports are a good feature too. Great for students, and a good overall product.

What I Like: EZ set-up, better sound coming out than from the internal notebook speakersWhat I Don't Like: Bulky speaker panel; Sounds cheaper than it costs; Mutes sounds from the notebook necessitating some maneuvering with the volume control when you want to apply your plug-in headset speakers; Costs way too much for the quality you get.Would I recommend these? NO!

Compared to the weak and tinny speakers in my laptop, the Logitech Audiohub is a welcomed change. Not only do the Audiohub speakers sound impressive with tangible bass and brainless installation, I really enjoy the balanced sound, intuitive design and, especially, the three USB ports on the back of the unit. I love not having to install any drivers while also doubling the number of USB ports from 2 on my laptop to 4 overall. I wish every product carried this ease of use, functionality, and overall substantial value. I don't think I could have spent more wisely. Great product!

Like many others, I tend to store my music collection on my computer in MP3 format, and usually just listen to music on the computer (I haven't joined the IPOD club yet). So I was excited to see this product, which promised great quality sound for the computer. And I wasn't disappointed with the Logitech AudioHub. The two 2" tweeters and one 3" sub-woofer deliver great sound from such a small package, although I've been putting up with the marginal sound from my built-in laptop speakers for a while now. Setup and installation was simple, just plug it into an outlet (the speakers do not run off the power from the laptop) and plug the USB into the computer - no disks - just plug and play. It should be clear that these speakers are not what I would call portable. I think they would do best sitting in a place where you usually listen to music and where you can plug your laptop into them, with only occasional trips elsewhere. The tweeters are on the ends which extend out just past the edges of my laptop.I'm not high-tech enough yet to use the web-cam stand, but it's there if you need it. Also included are short and long USB cables, with places to wrap them on the back. I haven't tried it but I imagine you could plug them into a desktop computer. There are also extra USB ports on the speakers in case you need them. The volume knob lights up when it's on and the unit shuts off when you turn the computer off. My only concern is the thin mesh material covering the front of the tweeters, which feels like it could tear very easily (it comes with plastic over them for shipping with logos showing not to touch the fronts). But overall, I love these speakers and the rich sound they produce.

These are good sounding speakers and I liked them, a lot. However, they essentially make a portable item (a laptop), stationary.That is the only thing I don't like about these : The speakers, a single, quite hefty item, aren't made to be portable.However, in the world today, I realize that many folks use their laptops for their primary computer and they don't necessarily take it many places. If that's the case for you - these speakers are an excellent investment.If you travel a lot, or even hop on over to Starbucks for a coffee and some computing - these aren't necessarily something you'll find useful. You'll have to disconnect and leave the speakers at home.In the context of using them at home - they're great. The sound produced is clear and vibrant, full. I tried them with multiple genres of music and all sounded good. The deep bass was easily handled by the subwoofer, and there was no tinny reverb or annoying vibration sound that some speakers can issue.Since these speakers run off a USB hub, make sure you have one free on your laptop. The speakers also are a hub, which is a great feature. There's an area for cables to be run, and a powercord is included (and necessary - another reason these aren't exactly portable).As I stated before - the speakers have some heft. They actually weigh more than my laptop. However, on the bright side - They're not cheap feeling or sounding. You're getting a quality product.These are Windows Vista ready, though I ran mine on XP. They also work with a Mac (OS X or higher only).All in all, a good product that makes your laptop into something more permanent, while providing a great sound source.

The speakers have an attractive design. I bought them so I could play tunes from my laptop in a small living room. From the size and reviews I expected clear sound without a lot of bass, which is indeed so. I did not realize, though, how underpowered they would be. If I am sitting at the computer, i.e. within a couple of feet of the speakers, the sound is fine. If I walk across the room, the music is barely audible. At maximum volume, it is about half the volume I would have expected. Now I bought them through an alternative seller [...], so this still strikes me as a reasonable deal. If I had spent the $[...] or so that they typically cost, I would have sent them back and continued looking for a better option.

Sometimes it's nice to have a fuller sound coming out of your laptop. In some homes, a laptop replaces a desktop PC due to its movable nature. Other people will use laptops because they are movable and they go on a lot of trips. The Logitech AudioHub Notebook Speakers are terrific for the first group and not so great for the latter.On a purely technical level, this AudioHub is pretty darn great. The speakers pump out a nice level of sound and the tiny subwoofer inside actually does work better than I was expecting. It's a nice, full sound that is good for when you're watching movies or playing games and don't want to wear headphones. Also nicely included is the fact that it is an audio "hub" and so includes USB connectors. Since it is a plug and play device, requiring the use of a USB connection, having additional USB ports on the side is a nice step in adding to the laptop instead of having you wonder where you're going to plug in all of your devices.So you know it works and it's good. I was hoping to bring this with me when I go out of town next month as it will be one of the only things to keep me busy on off-nights. Unfortunately, I think I'll be leaving it at home because, while it's isn't heavy or terribly big, it does take up an awkward amount of space. You could grab cheap small speakers to plug into your device that take up a lot less space and are easier to cart around. You won't get as good of sound, but, honestly, unless you're a complete audiophile you won't notice it (and if you are an audiophile...why are you buying 2.1 speakers?).A good device but a little impractical for a lot of uses.

I just took these speakers out of the box, plugged the USB cable using the included USB extender into my laptop, plugged in its power supply and then turned on my laptop. It automatically set itself up and started working. I must admit that I was amazed at how rich the sounds are that come out of this speaker system.I had video of a lecture that I could not hear at full volume on my laptop. But now it is like listening to the lecture live with a good quality sound system. And I only have the volume at the 20% level. Even at full volume, which is now much to loud, there is no distortion or hiss. I am very happy to have these.The AudioHub speaker system features an adjustable one-piece, three-chamber speaker system with an integrated subwoofer. You are able to adjust the speakers position so that they clear the sides of your laptop screen. The volume control/mute button on the AudioHub is lit so you always no when it is not muted. And the mute button turns off the sound without cutting power to the integrated USB hub, which has three built-in Hi-Speed USB ports. So you use one USB port for the speakers and have a two USB port net gain.

Logitech is a trusted brand, and so far I have never been let down by them. These speakers have surpassed anything of their kind that I have ever used. They can be used on a PC setup ( even with no Sound Card, since it picks up the sound output from the Operating System) and it canwork well on a laptop, both MAC and PC, to provide an augmented and very portable sound. This sound is in, it should be noted , an augmented 2.1 Stereo, with a Central Subwoofer that surpasses some regular bass ends of speakers that one might use quite easily. I tested the response using some early Joe Walsh Albums ( 1972-73) for that regular country tone which deserves a rich response and it gave a great rendering of the guitars and voice. I heard things in the audio I have not heard before. I tried the same test with Zakk Wylde's BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's albums, and the sound was awesome. This is a great set of speakers with superbresponse at close range; perfect for users close to the unit.Also, the Regular OS sounds are great, and games come off with crystal clear sounds. An awesome, and clear rangeHighly Recommended.
