I just wanted a cheap webcam to connect via Skype to see my new grandson. This seemed to fit the bill. The installation went okay but the video was all distorted with vertical waves and ghosting of my image. I tried all the webcam settings in the software with no luck. I also did a software update at Logitech. No joy. Eventually I contacted Logitech help desk who guided me though some Windows video changes which cured the problem temporarily until I rebooted the PC and then the problem returned. Must be a Win XP thing.

This is a decent webcam for the price, but it cannot be compared with higher-end cameras. Overall the installation and configuration is quite simple; load in the drivers, plug in the camera and you're all set. The camera comes with a small program that allows you to adjust certain settings on the camera, such as brightness and hue, and the software also allows for still-picture and video capture. While still pictures can be 1.3 megapixel, unfortunately the highest resolution allows for recording a movie (as distinguished from video chatting) is 640x480. I don't know the reason for this, but it seems to be exclusively to limit users of lower-priced cameras. The software also has some extras, such as the ability to use "filters" that create effects on the image for when you're chatting or recording video. These are pretty useless, but I suppose they're free so there's no sense in complaining. Advanced features like the ability to have avatars instead of your face, or to add digital accessories to your image are limited to the higher-end cameras and can not be used on this device.The picture quality goes from good (not great) to horrible based, as near as I can tell, on the lighting. With good light, the image does not lag much or get blurry, and it is perfectly adequate for video chatting. As the lighting decreases, so does the image quality, to the point of being almost unusable. If you don't have good lighting in the room where you expect to be using this camera, you're going to have to get a light source or you'll be sorely disappointed with the quality of this camera.As for the audio quality of the microphone, I've been pretty impressed. The software allows configuration of the microphone, which is very nice - you don't feel like you need to shout to be heard, and conversations are very natural.Overall it's a decent cam, but it's worth spending the extra money for better equipment if you're serious about either recording anything (i.e. YouTube monologues or video mail) or making sure that your friends get the best picture of you when you cam.

I already have another Logitech webcam, the Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 (Formerly QuickCam Pro 9000). When I plugged the C600 webcam in to my computer (an HP desktop with Vista 64-bit) the drivers installed quickly, and the webcam was ready to use within a few seconds.It worked perfectly, giving excellent 2 megapixel videos and 8 megapixel photos. In switching between this webcam and the Pro 9000, it was almost impossible for me to discern a difference in the picture quality. I think the color with the Pro 9000 is a bit more accurate, but the sharpness on both cameras is excellent. The only differences I can find are these: (1) the C600 has a "premium glass lens" (no maker is specified), while the Pro 9000 has a "Carl Zeiss lens system" (2) the Pro 9000 has an autofocus feature; the C600 does not (however, the focus on the C600 seemed as good as the Pro 9000's) (3) the C600 is a much lighter plastic and a different shape; the Pro 9000 seems much sturdierAs of my review date, Amazon gives a 27% discount on the Pro 9000 and none on the C600, making the higher quality Pro 9000 less expensive than the C600. I have no reservations about recommending the C600, but as long as the C600 costs more than (or is the same as) the Pro 9000, I'd opt for the Pro 9000.

I received the webcam and plugged it into the USB port...done. I run my Toshiba A105 dual boot with either Win XP or Linux Ubuntu 8.10. The Linux install was simply plug and play. The Win XP install was typical - windows install manager battling the Logitec install. Had to run the install a second time to get Win to recognise the device THEN ask for the CD. Device works fine as expected. I wish it had more resolution for the price.Incidentally, I broke the first one when I took it apart and attached the sensor to my telescope. It worked great at first at prime focus but when I tried making a more permanent mount to an eyepiece barrel, I pressed a bit hard and cracked the glass cover over the sensor. I am purchasing another because I KNOW it will work for both operating systems.

I've had absolutely no problems with this, fits my 23" Asus monitor perfectly, integrates seamlessly with Win7. I'd just like to point out that, apparently when I chat on Skype with others, after the conversation, Skype gives them a message along the lines of: "Wasn't that high quality webcam great? Don't you wish your webcam was as good as that?" I find this hilarious :D I like my "high quality" webcam.

Bought this as a gift for my parents, who aren't so tech-savvy. My only advice is to use Skype with it, rather than the Logitech software. I'd heard good things about the Logitech Vid software, but experienced some problems with my first video conversation with my parents - which resulted in them holding up sheets of paper to the camera with notes on them, and then me coaching them through the process over the phone and with Facebook chat...ugh...it was not easy, and because they could see me on their camera, I had to be careful not to roll my eyes or anything.Anyway.This was a good deal, and they had no problem installing it. I would definitely buy it for them again, but I'd start with Skype instead of Logitech Vid.

This is a great basic webcam. Plugged it into Windows 7 and it recognized it immediately. No need to load logitech software.Does everything I expected it to. Clear picture, microphone is adequate for video chats. Just add speakers and you're ready.Because this is a UVC webcam (google this, not all webcams are) you don't have to hope the vendor will update their drivers for new versions of Windows (yeah I'm talking about you Creative).A little pricey at suggested retail, but I got this for approximately 65% off at a local B&M.If you are looking for a basic webcam to use for video chatting etc, just buy it!

The picture from this camera is so bad I still cannot believe it is a Logitech. Over the bast 10 years or so I have purchased numerous peripherals from Logitec: a mouse, numerous keyboards, etc. and have always found their products to be reliable and dependable. But this camera works so poorly that I can only describe it as a complete ripoff. The still photos are so blurry that if you take a picture of yourself you will be hard pressed to tell who it is. If Amazon had a rating less than 1 star, say negative 2 stars, that would be accurate. The microphone is acceptable but $30 is expensive for a microphone. I have Vista Premium installed on a 7 month old DELL Inspirion and a 1 Gigabite Video card so I don't think the system could possibly be the problem, just junk sold by what I thought to be a reputable manufacturer.

I sent my parents my old webcam in hopes that this microphone would be better, since you can adjust it to be closer to you, and the other one I was using was more for if you were using a headset.I was pretty wrong. The person I was Skype-ing with couldn't hear ANYTHING I was saying unless I yelled it or my mouth was touching the microphone. I was really surprised because of the good reviews on here.Anyway, if you don't need the microphone, I'd suggest it. Otherwise, I'd either buy a separate mic, or a different webcam.

If you or someone is receiving this product as a gift or for general use, then this product does the trick. Easy to install, VID software is step by step to install and the quality and microphone work just fine if you are using it to chat with family. Taking a picture is good quality. If this is your first time experimenting with video conferencing then use this product first. In expensive to get and as you use it more you realize just what more in quality you want to purchase next. It is very durable and performs just great when using Skype too.

I bought this webcam to use with Skype to talk to my family in Australia. It does a GREAT job and is perfect for this use. The sound quality is just like talking to someone sitting beside you. The price is right and does the job. Don't expect movie quality...but for talking to people around the world it's all you need.

I bought this used Logitec webcam for my compaq laptop.It turned out to be a great value-for-money product as it has all the standard features of a web camera and isn't pricey as the other ones.Advantages:- Inexpensive- Has all standard features of a web camera- Easy to download drivers and install- good picture qualityDisadvantages:- Its little lame in low light conditions. I guess all web cameras are.

I had a problem getting this webcam to attach to my monitor. The top of my monitor is slim, and the webcamattachment is wide. It is sort of 'perching' now, but not very stable. I wish there was some warning thatthis might not fit all monitors, especially the new flat ones.Otherwise it seems okay, but this is my first one, so I have nothing to judge against.

Easy to use webcam. The picture isn't perfect, but no webcam has perfect quality. Sound isn't the best, but it's hard to have a way to make that better as well. Other than that it's very easy to use and works well for anyone with Skype or just to chat with friends online.

I like this product, Compared to what Mac webcams cost, this does a fantastic job for the price. Its very easy to install, i didn't even use the cd it comes with as the comp recognized it on its own.I seem to have a problem where the picture freezes while im chatting but its a quick fix, at the push of a button it restarts and is not a big issue. Other than that its perfect and I use it with Skype almost everyday.

I bought the Webcam 250H a few weeks ago and have tried it couple of times. The ease of use, picture quality, installation, and other aspects seem to be okay so far.There are more advanced Webcams out there but if you are looking for a good basic model, this will do.Recommended.

Not sure why anyone would rate this camera higher than a 3. Picture quality is terrible, awful lag time, I can't seem to get the camera adjustments to work and microphone is just OK. Every now and then, when you push the camera on/off button it crashes the PC. Running Vista and have put the patch in place so something is definitely wrong (and frustrating). I will give Logitech some credit in that it was easy to set up and almost immediately get started. But there are so many other options out there, I would highly suggest a different camera. Not enough functionality on this to make it worthwhile. I'm returning it. I have to agree with another viewer, the only people rating this highly must not have used something else to see a real camera operate. I have several different PC/Mac options around the house but used this one for a new PC in the den. Sorry to be blunt. I'd try elsewhere.

It says laptop. I tried it with my desk top and it was not easy to attach. But that is my fault. Once I got it on the top with some tape it works really good. I can talk to my grand kids and see them in Florida now.

This is a great camera for the price. Now don't buy this camera if you are looking for high-definition video from it. I have this camera just to be able to talk to family and friends out of state and out of the country. It is reliable and provides the video I need to be able to see and talk with the people in my life. You can't beat an under $20 camera with this quality. Don't forget about the reputation that Logitech has. I've been using their products for years and love every single one! This camera comes with software that has some great features like low-light adjustment, brightness, contrast, and color. If you need a great camera and a great price, Logitech Quick Cam Chat!

I just bought this web camera from this seller. I can't get it to work well. Basically, it was a rip off. I had a very difficult time installing the program. After that, it started working but not the way it should. The speakers and the camera part of it work, but it was unclear and made myself look unusual, but i just can't get the built in microphone to work. Do not buy this! it is a waste of my money and now I can't even use it. Please, I hope I convinced you not to buy it.

running windows vista. opened logitech box, plugged camera in, waited 10 seconds, buzz-whizz-whirr - discovered by the computer, functional, and works GREAT! i use it for skype - couldn't imagine being any happier.

Webcam arrived within 1 week. Set up was very easy. I have had difficulty with picture and sound from other people. Not really sure if it is my problem or theirs. Overall a good purchase.
