- + Отличное качество звука. Реверберационные хвосты, дилеи, динамика, панорама в треках всё отлично прослушивается в этой карте, ну и в целом звучание очень живое и приятное.
- - Драйвера не мультиклиентные, т е если слушаешь музыку в аимпе через азио, то посмотреть параллельно допустим видео на ютубе не получиться.
Перебрал огромное количество бюджетных аудиокарт - м-аудио файрвар соло, эхо аудиофайр, инфрасоник деукс, фокусрайт скарлет, e-mu, всё это не устраивало по звучанию. Случайно попался в руки лексикон, просто удивился качеству звука,...

Купили данную карту, она определяется как "неизвестное устройство которое не работает правильно" . Пробывали на 4 разных компьютерах с 3 разными системами ( хр , 7 и 8 ) . Везде одно и то же. Провозились 2 часа с подключение знатоков со всех возможных форумов соотв тематики. Сказали неси обратно. Меня больше всего шокировало то, что карта при переподключении пишет что "устройсво не распознается и неправильно...

- - Выключается, когда комп переходит в спящий режим. А обратно включается только вытыканием-втыканием шнура. Непонятно, поддерживает ли 5.1 звук.

- + Отлично пишет инструменты и вокал через драйвер asio4all, компактная, удобная в разъезде (если нужно записать что-то через ноутбук, планшет или подключить гитару на концерте через какой-нибудь bias или guitar rig live) отличная сборка, длинный кабель, вменяемый микрофонный предуселитель
- - Не одного глюка за два года использования не заметил, разве что плохие родные драйвера (те, что alpha asio)
Так вот на нем (родном драйвере) в процессе записи начинает появляться...

Взял себе, как первое устройство для записи инструментов. Своих ожиданий не оправдала. Драйвера не настраиваются вообще. ASIO может подвисать. Помогают отключение карты и перезагрузка музыкального редактора. Записывает с шумами. Использовать как настольную звуковую карту невозможно, если вы собираетесь пользоваться, например, Skype. Если в системе установлена другая звуковая карта, эта начинает хрипеть . Нашёл применение ей только как устройству, чтобы поиграть через какой-нибудь плагин, вроде Guitar Rig. В данном случае вполне возможно добиться от неё адекватной работы. Микрофоны подключать без дополнительных вложений в виде преампа или фантомного питания нету смысла. Пока стоит, как красивое дополнение для акустики Defender Blaze 30. Вместе смотрятся отлично. Планирую брать себе микшерный пульт, что-то из линейки Behringer Xenyx. В зависимости от того, что возьму, буду решать: стоит ли вообще оставлять эту карту.

- - Уровень шумов очень высок, при выкручивании ручки громкости по входу на максимум слышна работа ЦАП АЦП, работает только в 48 кГц, что не является студийным качеством, постоянно заикается, и в отличии от audigy после заикания звук...

- + дизайн, наличие hi-z входа, хорошее качество записи, звук при прослушивании стал интереснее.
- - танцы с бубном при установке, полное отсутствие настроек в драйверах, отсутствие фантомного питания. кажется, невозможность подключить что-то большее, чем стерео. иногда проскакивают шумы и щелчки.
в целом, неплохой выбор.

I bought this because I found that while doing mixing (of recordings) that sometimes, in the quietest passages, the sound card in my laptop would create some spurious noise - so my intent here was to use it as a sound card (external) to improve the signal to noise ratio.For the dough, it's tough to go wrong with this. I needed something with balanced outputs (which this has via its TRS outputs). I do not use this as a front end (for recording) because all of the recording that I do is usually 4 - 8 channels, and done on-location (live), so I can't say word one about how this functions as a front end.However, once the drivers were loaded properly (easily done), it worked great both in CuBase as well the "Windows" sound card. Now, the down side is that it only supports 44.1 kHz and 48.0 kHz sample rates, but if you can live with that limitation, I think you'll find this to be a great value. A decided bonus here is the inclusion of CuBase LE5 on a separate CDROM; I know that Pro Tools is in much wider use, but if you are new to music production, I think you'll find CuBase quite capable ('been using CuBase for years now, and I have no gripes about it (for what I do)) and very, very intuitive and user-friendly. Back to the Lexicon Alpha...very good signal to noise ratio - if I hear any noise from it, it's in the source material, not a consequence of the unit proper.Now back to Windows apps...whether I am using the Windows Media Player, or VLC, or other apps that are used to play audio / video, the audio functions perfectly. It's USB-powered, so you needn't worry about having to use a wall-wart, or deal with 60 Hz hum that might otherwise be present (as all USB devices are DC-powered). My only real caution here is that the headphone amplifier does not seem to have all that much power available (can distort at high levels), which is probably a consequence of the USB-power and (electrical) current limitations of the USB protocol. That is, it would be easier to deliver the required power to a headphone if the mains in were of a higher voltage and not necessarily starved for current. Mind you, in my case, this does not matter in my application because the device is feeding a downstream component that is designed to have adequate power to drive headphones. So, that's a potential caveat - if you use inefficient headphones, you may experience some distortion; your mileage may vary.Again, I can't say a word about the fidelity of the card when used as an input device, because I don't use it in that fashion.No regrets whatsoever with this one.

I spent more money for this Lexicon USB interface, thinking it would be less hassles than the $20 or $30 cheaper interfaces from other companies. Wow, what a piece of trash this is! I mean, I loaded the Cubase LE5 software and then the Lexicon Pantheon Reverb software that comes with the unit. The drivers are on the Lexicon disk and the Pantheon reverb is optional to install.I installed everything as instructed in the instructions. Nothing works! When I open the Cubase program, the drop down menu for adding an audio track is faded out. I followed the sintructions, which tell you to go to "Drivers" in the drop down menu and select the "Alpha" (or whatever unit you have) for your audio driver. I did that successfully, but the driver is not being recognized and Cubase won't allow me to add an audio track (which means I cannot record anything, nor open any audio tracks to work with).I uninstalled everything and reinstalled everything again. I also did what the instructions said, that is, to copy and past the Pantheon.dll file from the Lexicon folder into the Steinberg/Cubase folder. That's ridiculous. The customer shouldn't have to mess with stuff like this. I did what they said to no avail. As you can see, so far none of this is user friendly.Then I finally gave up and decided to go get some tech support, but you have to register the product first. When I went to register the product, it said that I had to download an 18 mg "eLicenser" program to register the program. So I downloaded the eLicenser program and then tried and tried to find out some way of actually registering, but it doesn't tell you anything useful. There's absolutely nothing in the eLicenser program about how to actually register your program. It's as confusing as anything I've ever seen. There's an icon to enter an activation number, but I don't have the number and the eLicenser program doesn't tell me anything how to do this stuff. This is a nightmare!I have been trying unsuccessfully for the past 2-hours to get this Lexicon Alpha USB interface to work and to simply register the product, but it's so complicated that I can't help but wonder if they did this on purpose just to avoid dealing with customers, knowing that few people will spend all the time and aggravation over $58 spent. This is insane what Steinberg has done here.If you want to go through a headache and then some, punish yourself and buy this garbage. I tried to visit the eLicenser website, by clicking on the help drop down menu within the eLicenser program (that they required you to download to register the program). It fails every time and says that a connection could not be established. I am running Windows XP, using a 2.8 GHZ Daul Core Intel processor, and have Service Pack 3 installed, which meets the program's system requirements. There's nothing wrong with my high-speed internet connection and I can access the internet just fine, but this "eLicenser" program says it cannot access the internet to visit the website (so I can't register the program). What a needless headache!This is extremely complicated. I can't believe that Lexicon has made this process so ridicuously complicated. The unit doesn't work. I can't get tech support without registering. You can't register without downloading the eLicenser program. The eLicenser program doesn't tell you how to register and cannot access the company's website. I have no idea what to do from here except search Google and try to find a way to contact Lexicon and wait for a response. It shouldn't be this difficult for a customer to register. It shouldn't be this difficult to get tech support. There's not even a troubleshooting section in the owner's manual. I'm ready to throw this product into the garbage and may just do that.I regret buying this Lexicon USB interface and am warning others. The very notion that Lexicon requires you to download a seperate program just to register another program is insane. And then the program doesn't tell you anything to guide you, absolutely nothing! This is very frustrating to say the least.

The good:- Works immediately after removing from the box. Just plug it in to a USB port and Windows 7 automatically searches for three drivers. Windows finds two but not the third, but it seems not to matter. In Audacity, go to Transport-->Rescan audio devices and the device shows up.- Sounds really really great, but only on one of my two laptops (3-year-old Toshiba t-135).- Looks nice. Metallic-looking sturdy plastic case.The bad:- On one of my laptops (the new one, unfortunately: Samsung series 9), there is a buzz that is always there when recording from the Alpha. The sound seems to be associated with the laptop processor. Sounds kind of like a table saw cutting wood far away. Awful. This was still the case after I did go on to install the latest drivers from Lexicon. I tried various settings; it is always there. It is quiet enough that if you turn up your line source and turn down the Alpha, it might not be noticeable, but it's loud enough to rule out any serious recording.I'm curious how the noise could be caused, because from what I understand there is nothing but digital data going across the USB cable to the laptop, which means that somehow noise associated with the computer's processor must be going across to the Alpha first, where it is encoded in the digital data. Maybe the power that the laptop is providing to the Alpha is 'dirty'? I have no idea. One thing I'm considering is getting a USB hub with separate power like the Rosewill RHUB-210 for around ten dollars. This would presumably clean up the power if that's the issue (I'll update this review if I try that).In my case, I can still use my old laptop for recording, and the next better devices above the Alpha are twice as pricey, so I will probably keep it. But my guess is that the problem I encountered is what is behind some of the bad reviews here on Amazon, and I would also guess that even though the problem's apparently dependent on the particular computer used, it could and should be fixed to improve this model.It's a shame that there is a limitation, because the audio from the Alpha is gorgeous on my Toshiba. It's not that there are less artifacts when it's used on my Toshiba, it's that they're completely absent. I can turn things way way up and there is no buzz or other artifacts.

The Lexicon Alpha is a quality unit that works well - but it does not include a 48v microphone power supply.Having had a Lexicon Lambda unit for years, I was very happy with it and passed it on to my son, when he needed something to record his keyboard work with.Having had good luck with the Lambda unit but not needing that many inputs, I thought I'd try the less-expensive Alpha unit.There was difference between the two units that was not immediately apparent, though. It was only after I got the Alpha unit set up and operating that I realized that it does not include a 48v microphone power supply, as the larger Lambda unit does.By the time I bought a quality mic power supply, I had spent enough money with that and the Alpha - where I could have just bought another Lambda unit.If you need 48 volts for your mike, that is my recommendation: Skip the Alpha and go for the Lambda instead. Less stuff to hook up, that way.I will join others in condemning the registration system associated with the CuBase software. - I already had CuBase 4 - and this turned out to be an insurmountable obstacle to registering CuBase 5, utilizing the Bizarro-world Steinberg registration system.So I am sticking with easy to use Sony Acid Studio and Audacity, which work fine for what I do... In the end, I uninstalled all of the Steinberg stuff because I never used it.I use the Lexicon Alpha for guitar practice, enjoying the zero-lag monitoring function that lesser units lack.Note that if you plug in a pair of ordinary powered computer speakers in the Aplha units MONITOR jack instead of headphones, then the unit acts as an guitar amplifier and PA system whether you are running any audio software on the computer at the time - or not.Once I purchased a 48v inline power supply, the unit worked well with my powered microphones, too. If your mikes are not powered, then of course this would not be an issue.The Lexicon Alpha works just as well as the Lexicon Lambda - which is praise indeed.Good stuff.

Easy to use, easy to set up. Setup quirks: requires the installation of Cubase (or so the directions insist, I've not tested it). Cubase has some of the most horrendous DRM in the software world I've ever seen. I'd comment further on Cubase itself, but that's not the product being reviewed. Thankfully, the product itself does not require the use of Cubase to function so just about any audio software package will work if you're already familiar/comfortable with something else.As far as the product goes, there are a couple quirks to be aware of. The first is that that there does appear to be a low-grade noise on the recording line. Anything above a 50% input level on the instrument line and it starts getting very noticeable. The second is that without some sort of amplifier as part of the system, the volume level of the recorded audio is very low, which plays back into the first quirk. At an input level high enough for a reasonable volume range, the noise is fairly prominent. With an amp or pre-amp of some sort though, these problems can easily be worked around.

I've recorded a ton of stuff when I was younger and had invested heavily in quality equipment. When I realized that I would never be a rock musician and was forced to get a real job, I pared down the equipment that I had.Now that I've been writing again for fun, I figured that I would get something inexpensive to record on. Just using this an Garageband, I've been thoroughly impressed. It does exactly what it's supposed to do. It syncs easily with Garageband and even comes with a light version of Cubase. (Although I think I'll pass for now)During the recording, the interface is so simple that it's kind of hard to screw it up. It's certainly renewed a sense of excitement over music again.Bottom line, if you're looking for something that is inexpensive yet doesn't skimp on quality, this does the trick.

I had got this last month. Didn't get time until now to try it in full. My unit is most likely a faulty one - shoots out a SUDDEN DEAFENING NOISE that blew out my ears and headphones. I am thinking of bringing this to my legal counsel. My ears were ringing for a few hours before it became normal.Do not use this device on your headphones out of the box. Use monitors at low volume, and after about a week of use, plug your headphones. I am returning this to amazon.I know i have the right drivers, and also tried with asio4all. No use. The first time I tried it, I noted another fault on the Hi-Z input. This produces huge noise at reasonable levels. Definitely faulty.Useless device - am going to try out others like Tascam (which I hate for not providing right drivers and support for legacy) and focusrite. I am also thinking about Avid interface. Suggestions welcome.
