Had one of these for a few months. I liked it so much that I purchased a second, and now have one each side of my laptop screen. Works fine on both my Windows laptop and on my MacBook Pro. Makes for a great, really portable, set up for coding/design, or just impressing people in coffee shops :)

This thing is great (although it would be greater if it was cheaper LOL )Like others here, it tired USB monitors before, especially the Toshiba. This one is much better. The Toshiba is good, no mistake, but Lenovo has bested them now. It's really well thought out, with no downside that I can tell except the cost. (Oh, and make sure you read the directions for putting on and off the cover first, as it's kind of scary, and I was afraid I'd break the thing at first (and I could of I suppose). But you get used to i, and if you grip the lid only on the lower 'base' side you won't put strain on it. After all it's an LCD, and they are fragile. But the case is solid, it's just the cover (which is great BTW) that's a minimal design, and tricky at first). I don't go anywhere without this now. It's powered by USB and extends your Laptop viewing considerably,, and makes it like your at home with a more complete system. You can even use this as a stand alone monitor if you need to haul a desktop. It works fine this way, you just have to log on automatically or type a password with a dark screen, as it needs load the drivers after you log.

Pros: Good fit and finish. Works well. Dimming button a plus. Fits inside standard roll-aboard very easily and travels well.Con: Although one can rotate the screen and view in the protrait format, the provided stand does not support that arrangement, so you will have to improvise.Bottom line: I like it, and would buy it again.

Fast shipping, great product and condition. LCD screen has minimum lag but would be nice if the contrast is a bit higher. But great buy for the price.

I bought this to use as a third monitor with my laptop and LCD monitor. This works very well. Plugged it in to one USB port and it powered right on. This is light and will travel in my laptop bag easily. Highly recommended.

This monitor works great for a travel notebook monitor. It fits perfectly in the briefcase next to the notebook computer. It's not extra bright but that doesn't seem to be a problem. It would be great if they would make the software and drivers for the Microsoft Surface RT.

I love working from home because I get to use my 2 24" monitor in a dual-screen fashion which increases my productivity a lot. When I go to client sites, unfortunately I haven't had that luxury and often it find it to do tasks quite as easily as I could do at home. I just got the LT1421 today in my mail and it works great. The picture quality is great and fortunately, my laptop only needed 1 usb port to power this instead of 2.One thing I wanted to mention is that I run Windows 8 Release Preview and the drivers on the CD or the Lenovo website won't work. But Lenovo uses the DisplayLink drivers and DisplayLink's website has beta drivers that work perfectly on Windows 8.[...]

I wanted a second monitor but not the large bulky monitors with VGA and power cables. Lenovo's LT1421 was a welcome surprise. It was extremely easy to set up and start working. How great it is to connect using USB ports without having to find an outlet for the power cable and screw in the VGA cable. It travels well and its thin body makes it easy to pack.

In short, it is a great addition. No lag time between monitors. With a mouse and keyboard I can work like I am at my desktop.It comes with a dual USB feed, but I did not notice a difference between single and dual USB.

I have been using Toshiba USB Mobile LCD monitor for about 9 months. At that time, Toshiba was the only option for USB LCD monitor, and I actually liked it very much. I did have some issues with the screen quality and the viewing angle with Toshiba, and Thinkvision LT1421 addressed these issues.Compared to Toshiba, LT1421 has much more crisp screen and quite a bit brighter. The viewing angle is also much better and the screen is less grainy. I also like the fact that LT1421 comes with a kickstand, unlike the bulky case I had to use in order to keep it standing for Toshiba. LT1421 is also smaller and lighter although it has the same screen size as Toshiba. The only gripe I have with LT1421 is that it doesn't have the power button (it does have better brightness control though) so I have to detach the USB cord from computer in order to power off. It's annoying but not a show stopper as I use it with laptop, and there's no need to keep the monitor attached to the laptop unless I need to use it.Overall, Toshiba LCD was still a very nice product, but Lenovo just came out with a better one a year later and I am glad I switched it.

After spending two minutes installing the driver (both on CD and online by searching for "LT1421 driver"), the portable LCD works right after connecting to a USB port. It is amazing that a USB indeed supports an external LCD of very good brightness. With the software, it is easy to change resolutions and arrange it on the left or right sides of the laptop. I settled down with placing it to the right. The text and pictures are very clear. I can see the screen-door effect mentioned by others, but it does not bother me. The tilt angle can be adjusted, so it can be used comfortably on tables of different heights. I've taken it with me on one trip so far and loved it. I left it in my backpack through the airport security check. It makes my text editing job about 15-20% more efficient. Yesterday, I thought about bringing it out of my backpack in a Starbucks LOL. The screen has an anti-reflection coat, which I found very important for portable LCDs.PROS: Portability Good software Change of tilt Sufficiently bright Clear text Reasonable priceCONS: The travel cover is not easy to open (it took me 2 minutes to figure out a good way - to open the corner first) The USB cable is too long (some might need it, but I ended up buying a 1-foot micro-USB cable for $1.99)Bottomline: the best portable LCD out there, and it is affordable

good revolution, not as good as the macbook pro but adequate for a second monitor for Imovie and displaying a screen to customers. had to download third party software for it to operate on a Mac. No Mac support whatsoever.

The LT1421 14 inch widescreen in effect doubled the width of my laptop screen and allows viewing two apps in full screen each. Marvellous. The slight difference in resolution (laptop 1440 x 900 and monitor 1366 x 768) does not seem to be a problem.

I am used to having 2-3 external monitors in my home office and always wanted to have at least one while at customer sites. This is the PERFECT solution. I have a Thinkpad x201 which is a great laptop, but has a relatively small screen.The LT1421 is a larger screen than the laptop and is VERY portable - very thin, no nonsense features.It came with a dual-usb cord, but I quickly found that, at least with the Thinkpad, you only need a single one. It is amazing how much brightness and quality they've put into it with only using the small amount of power from the USB.There have been other reviews that mentioned something about a "pattern effect". I have NOT experienced this (maybe this is a new model or firmware version?). I've used it now for a week and done all sorts of video and picture editing on it - again, it is fantastic in quality and clarity.It comes with a equally thin cover for the front which just snaps on/off. so, while traveling, it easily fits in along side my laptop.If you're looking for a good quality, light weight, and very portable 2nd, or 3rd screen, I strongly recommend this product!!!Well done Lenovo!

Nobody buying this screen should expect wonders:USB 2.0 does not provide enough of a data stream to allow for lossless 60 frames per second! The DisplayLink driver and chip seem to do a good job at hiding that fact, however dont expect the monitor to do well in gaming or have a crisp image when watching an action movie.If you have the screen and dont believe me, just use any window with text on it, preferably also with a lot of graphics, and then move it on the screen quickly. You will immediatly see artifacts and the screen reaction to your mouse input will also be slightly delayed.This is especially annoying when you want to do gaming on this screen, since chat messages might be unreadable due to the artifacts from time to time.Maybe DisplayLink will one day come up with a better driver to mitigate these problems further, but they will never be gone since USB 2.0 simply doesnt provide enough troughput. So dont be fooled!Still, for what it's worth, this is a fine display assuming you dont want to run time/reaction critical applications on that screen.

Everyone who has seen this monitor in the few days I have had it has been jealous. Setup was trivially simple, and it didn't even conflict with the driver I have installed for my USB VGA card. In fact, it just added as an additional monitor. It runs just from one of the two provided USB connections on my Lenovo T410S. I did once see a little bit of distortion on a youtube video, but that may have been a download speed issue. For static images, or minimal movement, it has been perfect.Also, a quick comment on the actual seller, "The Price Pros". I was a little concerned when I saw that fulfiillment was not by Amazon, but by these folks. That concern was completely unjustified. They were quick to ship, monitor was well-packaged and protected in addition to its factory packing, and their communication was excellent.I just read on another site that you can run up to 6 of these on the same computer as long as you have the USB ports or a USB hub. I may have to buy another of these, and would buy from The Price Pros again without hesitation.

Lenovo Thinkvision LT1421 doesn't work. Purchased 200 units and they don't work in mirror mode with power Powerpoint. When you transition to mirror mode and run power point the the mirror image on the Lenovo screen starts off blank and renders as you move the mouse. It can't be used for customer power point demos. Support is non-existant. You can't call anyone at Lenovo or Display link. Stay away.

This is a nice compact unit. The thin design allows it to fit inside my laptop case next to the laptop. The display is bright and clear. I was fortunate enough to be able to get this at a deep discount since it was refurbished, but I would consider it well worth the full $198 current new price. The cover is a little snug, but it is nice to have that feature included. Runs off one USB port on a Lenovo T410.

Great product for the road warrior: I am able to set up a micro office in my hotel room that roughly matches my home system - obviously with some limitations but more than good enough. I am very much a fan of two monitors so when that is not available I feel as if something is missing. So, this product with a mouse and a ultrabook makes life good (and productive) on the road.

Great product. primarily used for viewing ms office docs. To install, download the driver from lenovo's website... included CD is worthless. I purchased a laptop sleeve for protection and scrapped the snap-on cover, which is difficult to remove.

Super compact, fits in laptop bag in same compartment as computer. Traveled all over asia for almost two months and it's definitely increased my productivity while on the road. Not going to be able to watch high def movies with this monitor but more than good enough for excel spreadsheets and the occasional youtube video.

I've spent a lot of time using three different DisplayLink monitors, and the LT1421 is the best by far. I'm amazed that this size of a screen can actually run off a single USB port. High points: Size, build quality, ease of setup, brightness, high resolution. Low points: This monitor has a noticable "screen door effect" (search that term). And while the brightness is good, the colors aren't as vibrant as I'd like. And I wish there was a way to orient the display in profile (vertical) mode. Still, this product deserves five stars for doing what it does very well. It packs neatly in my luggage and has quickly become an essential travel tool.
