This is my first time writing a review. I think it shows I frustrated I am. I purchased this product to use as a second monitor at work, mostly for viewing excel and pdf documents. It is very slim and light, and while it worked, it was great. But it only worked the first three times I used it and then for no explicable reason the screen just stopped working- It was gray and blank and I could not even get my company's IT staff to fix it. Lenovo support call center sent me another "serviceable used" monitor, but that one only worked for a day as well and then started showing a blurry colorful screen. I think the support call center would have been willing to send me another monitor, but I have no trust in this product at this point so I just gave up and requested a refund through amazon just now. I would stay away from this product.

I'll start off by saying this review is more of a warning to Mac users who are thinking about purchasing this as it is not fully compatible after the release of Mountain Lion.Upon installing the recommended drivers from Displaylink.com my Mac suffered various crashes that pretty much rendered the monitor useless. The only remedy was to uninstall the entire software. Before purchasing the Lenovo Displaylink's website had stated that it was fully compatible. It wasn't until I found out the hard way and going to the support forums that I found that this problem has been unresolved since Mountain Lion's release. There's also no mention of when a fix is expected. So IF you're using a Mac and are thinking about buying this or any other USB monitor that uses the Displaylink driver I would STRONGLY recommend you hold off or find an alternative solution. Hope this helps. The monitor itself is great like most of the positive reviews have already mentioned it's just a shame that for now it's basically a $200 paper weight. Still trying to decide whether to hold on to the monitor and hope for a fix or put it up for sale. ><

Used it for a few days. Setup was automatic through windows update. The design, with the cover, cable and stand - works great. Use it while travelling and I've found added usability doing demos. I will use my laptop and have the prospect face me, watching the LT1421 so I can look the person in the eye and talk to them yet at the same time we both see the same screen - works great! Fits easily in my laptop carry on. The only thing keeping me from giving it a 5 star is that picture quality is good but not superb - but it not something that would keep me from buying it again. Overall a great product, better then I expected.

The panel itself is pretty good for how cheap this monitor is. Easy to travel with, comes with a screen cover which makes it easy to throw into a backpack or suitcase.NO POWER ADAPTER, which is fantastic for using it on the road.My only complaint is with the limitations of the DisplayLink technology. Like all other DisplayLink products, this isn't the most comfortable choice for watching video... But it's great for a work monitor to house your various panels or webpages. After using it a half hour you will get used to the slow refresh and you really won't notice it.On Apple's computers, you CANNOT color calibrate this (or any other DisplayLink) panel.Overall, I enjoy this screen - if you need an extra display for the road and value minimalism and lightweight traveling this is the ticket!

I was a little anxious to purchase this screen as my first choice would have been the Toshiba screen as i love Toshiba, but i was considering the AOC which at $99 seemed to be an incredible deal, plus i previously had an AOC monitor which was awsome... but after checking on the reviews of all 3 screen options, i decided to go with this Lenovo as it seemed to be very easy to set up and had a screen cover and so i went for it.It is the best decision i made as this screen is awsome. It was so easy to set up, i entered the CD and actually it brought me to the Lenovo set up page on the internet and i downloaded the latest driver. Then it automatically did all the adjustment for the set up and 5 minutes later i plug in my cable with only 1 usb and it worked !!!!!!!!!!!! The screen is very bright, as bright as my computer. I was able to play full screen a Bourne Legacy trailer on it with no issue. Great images, very crisp and the glass is not reflecting so the light around is not an issue.As i travel so much this cover screen in hard plastic was really a must and this screen was exactly what i was missing on the road when in my hotel room i was struggling with many documents with that limited 1 screen real estate... Now i am ready to be very productive even on the road. Thanks Lenovo, GREAT PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!!!!I love it !

I am a computer professional, and I travel a lot, both for work and for play. I'm lucky that I can work from anywhere that I have an Internet connection, but in the past having only my 14" laptop (which I love because it's lightweight and has great battery life) has slowed me down a bit. Having this second monitor has made a huge difference in my productivity when I'm on the road . I read the reviews of all the available USB-powered monitors before deciding on this one, and I agree that the picture is excellent and the travel cover is sturdy enough. It came with the USB cable required to hook it up, and I haven't had any problems at all in the three or so months I've been using it.I would strongly recommend this monitor.

It's light, works just by plugging it in and based on other reviews I have read they must have changed the cover, as I found it easy to slide off.Watching streaming video on it is as good as watching on my main laptop screen (Lenovo x230)The biggest bug bear is you cannot adjust the contrast/color only the brightness. The screen looks washed out when using it with windows 8, haven't had a chance to try with another OS. So I don't know if this is a problem with Win8 only.Tried calling Lenovo support who are usually good and got no where.

I purchased this monitor to have a second monitor on the road with my Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 13. I pulled it out and plugged it into the USB port, and it was immediately recognized. I didn't have to use the included CD (which is a good thing as the Yoga doesn't have a drive). It was recognized as a monitor with no issues. I didn't have any issues with noise (I've read complaints) and my only reason for not 5 stars is because the display "out of the box" is dim even at the highest adjustment. That's only a minor nit (pardon the pun) but otherwise works great. The included cover is nice and fits firmly.

I received the monitor today. However, the brightness cannot be adjust unless you can stand the high frequency noise. Only the brightest model does not have apparent high frequency noise. However, if you pay attention to listen, you could hear that even if you set the maximum brightness.In addition, I met a situation. I tried to print but forgot to connect the printer. The print signal looked sent the signal to the monitor so that the monitor cannot work. In another words, this drive is vulnerable. Lenovo should improve it.I decided to return the item CAUZ I am very sensitive to the noise.

I didn't know they made such monitors for travel. This was a great discovery. I use it with a Lenovo T430S. I installed the software and plugged in one USB connection. The monitor fired up and worked perfectly. The added weight is nothing for the convenience of this extra monitor. I'm no expert on testing these things, but the color and clarity of the screen does not look different to me than the screen on the laptop. The cover/base slips on easily and seems to provide ample protection while traveling. If you are used to using dual monitors in the office, this will be a treat on the road.

Great quality build and picture quality. Simple connection to USB with trouble free driver installation. Used it on my son's Mac and two different Windows PC's. Bought it to use laptop in passenger front seat and project to the rear seats with this monitor. Plug the laptop into Aux In and you've got a fantastic mobile video experience for long trips!

It's works quite well on windows 8 and travels well. I whish it was wireless, but that one costs way too much. Works on Win 8 too, and so far haven't had an issue. It's really just a simple screen.I travel a lot and this screen works well on the road as I've become dependent upon multiple screens.

This little monitor is just what I was looking for. I have two monitors at work and can't live without that. So I purchased this for those times that I work from home or after hours. It was a breeze to install, screen is bright and clear, no humming noise ( like folks complained of on the other one) and is a good height. All in all I am very happy with this.

i travel for work and i bought this so that i could have a 2nd screen while on the road. i get so much more done and with less stress when i have 2 screens and this system works great. power from the laptop, no wall plug. greta, great, great. a little smaller than i would like but worth it. been using it for many months now and it is solid.

I am a financial trader and travel a lot. In the past, staying in hotels, I had to juggle between my trading program and Outlook, Word, Internet, etc. Switching between them caused me to miss quite a few good trades. Now I carry this extra screen, where I put my trading program. I can use my laptop for everything else, while live markets are moving and flashing their buy and sell signals on this auxiliary screen.The screen is the same size as my laptop, very lightweight, and attaches to the laptop with a short cable, requiring no separate power supply. Its resolution is a bit less than my laptop, but then it cost about 90% less. Anyhow, I find it perfectly sufficient for my work. I love having this screen!

I use a dual screen workstation at home, so when I travel which is frequently I'll miss having two screens. I like to use one screen to watch movies/shows while in my hotel rooms while using the other screen for Iming, email, etc.. I also use two screens when processing images in Lightroom.You wouldn't expect a $200 USB monitor to offer good/accurate color, but once profiled it does just that. It's a better screen than came on my Lenovo x201s. It's matte, accurate, bright enough and adjustable, and appears to use little battery power.Where it's very useful is during training. I can mirror my main screen, turn this screen across the table to a trainee, and they can follow along and see what I'm doing. Or conversely, I can put it on their laptop and follow along with their workflow.Drivers are easy, connect it, it will be recognized, and then it will download the right driver on it's own. This has been my experience on 9 different Win7 machines. After the driver is installed the first time it remembers your settings and deploying it is as simple as plugging it into the USB port.It's also light. The protective hard plastic clamshell cover is very useful. I can put this in my knapsack, suitcase, etc, and not worry about it.If you need a second monitor while on the road this one is hard to beat for picture quality, convenience, build quality, and even price. I love mine.

Use this at work everyday. Very versatile for me and my needs. I am an auditor and work in different environments all the time and having two monitors is essential for efficiency and productivity.There are 3 things I really like about it...1) Size- 14" display, yet very thin2) Weight- Unnoticeable difference in my laptop bag3) Ease of Use- No power cord, no vga. Just a usb that when you plug it in, no install (for me at least Windows 7)***Note: people have said the cover is hard to take off. I don't experience that whatsoever. I imagine these people saying that probably believe it is heavy. The thing weighs 2 pounds maybe. Its pretty much like holding an iPad or if you ripped your laptop screen from you laptop, that's all it is.

Downside is the limited resolution. At home, I have three 1920x1200 monitors connected to my Windows 7 laptop, so this Lenovo stays in the bag.But I use it at the office every day (same laptop, but with only one 1920x1200 and one 1920x1080 monitor) and it's primarily where I keep MS Outlook open.And I've stuck it in my computer bag and taken it the last couple of times I've traveled by air.The screen protector shell goes on and off easily once you get the knack of it.I've had it about 6 months now... no issues.

Must have for anyone who travels for a living. Very slim, works well with only one plug in. I did not find the need to plug both in.Better than I expected. I will buy at least one more possibly two. The cover case must have been redesigned because I have no problem with mine. Can't think of any cons.

Lenovo has done a fantastic job delivering a compact product with exceptional features.Once installed the Lenovo think vision monitor is fully automatic and runs as advertised on the power of a USB 2.0 port. Power points and videos are crisp and clear. This second monitor is a key for increasing productivity when traveling as well as personalizing a demonstration for a small group of people.I would certainly recommend the product for anyone who does presentations because of the speed of set up and transportability.

I've used this display with two different Windows 7 computers, and applying a color profile to the display on either computer causes no change in its colors. Based on that experience, and some cryptic information at the DisplayLink website, it looks like the driver simply does not support color correction, unfortunately. This is a big disappointment for those of us who care about correct color, especially because this display is not even close to being correct -- it has the same blue cast of most Lenovo notebook displays.Otherwise, the display is excellent. Performance is quick on my relatively fast machines. The physical package is great (if you like the ThinkPad aesthetic, as I do). I can pack it right next to my notebook and it needs just one USB port to operate.Some other customers mentioned that they don't like the cover, but I think it's quite nice. It's super thin and slides right on and off. Almost no effort required and it provides great protection. You don't need to use it as a stand. I don't understand how it could be frustrating.Lenovo and DisplayLink: PLEASE add support for color correction!

Purchased 2 monitors. Both set up quickly and easily on different laptops and operating systems. Great resolution and traveled well. My partner and I each had one in our laptop bags along with our laptops.

I really like this product. I often travel outside of the office and work, so was looking for something light.The angle of monitor can be adjusted very easily and precisely.I wish I can change its resolution, but seems like I have no choice but using one resolution setting.

I use this as an extra monitor for my Alienware 11x. The included 2xUSB-Micro USB connector cable works well and makes it worth it because you don't need a VGA or power adapter. We also "mounted" this in our mini-van as a screen for the kids to watch videos on long trips and it really adds to the value of this monitor. I primarily use it to look at spreadsheets while I use the Alienware for Word documents. The screen cover is an added bonus.
