I have used this card in an HD video camera, and an HD point and shoot camera for weeks now, and it did its job as well as I could tell. All files were saved, no file corruption, and no lag that I could notice. It is hard to really say much about things like hard drives, flash drives, CD/DVD drives, etc. Usually they work or don't work. So, the only real metric is speed, so I ran a speed test between 3 random "HC" cards I had lying around, below are the results, you can draw your own conclusions from them. I am rating this 4 stars because it worked, it was more than speedy enough for my devices, and that is all there is to it. It wasn't just average, but it wasn't exceptional either. 4 stars.SPEED TEST RESULTS:Test run on Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium SP1, files copied back and forth to a traditional platter hard disk drive.Test computer is an ASUS laptop, with a 5.8 Windows Experience Index with 6GB installed RAM, on an Intel Core i3-2310M @ 2.10GHzThe test involved copying a single (identical, the same file every time) home video file taken by the camcorder. The file size of the test file was: 1.9GB [2,046,722,048 bytes size on disk]All tests (read/write) used the copy operation.I timed the test down to the second using the on-screen clock, and starting the test when I pressed the "copy" button after right-click dragging and releasing, and stopping the test when the copy dialog vanished from the screen, and the file appeared in the destination drive. Times were not rounded, and were recorded in seconds. No other programs were running during the test, except a single instance of Firefox, the web browser, which was running during all of the tests, so it wouldn't have affected one test, but not another.Kingston SD 16GB hc (class 10 rating), time=139 seconds, write TO discKingston SD 16GB hc (class 10 rating), time=101 seconds, read FROM discTranscend SD 16GB hc (class 6 rating), time=226 seconds, write TO discTranscend SD 16GB hc (class 6 rating), time=124 seconds, read FROM discSanDisk micsroSD 4GB hc (class 2 rating), time=131 seconds, write TO disc [using Transcend microSD to SD Adapter]SanDisk micsroSD 4GB hc (class 2 rating), time=105 seconds, read FROM disc [using Transcend microSD to SD Adapter]Yes, the SanDisk had the best performance, it had the smallest available space, and the lowest rating, and it was running through an adapter ... I have NO IDEA what happened there [shrug]

If memories are important to you, do not buy this card.I have been using SD cards for years of all brands, and I've never had a card simply lose/corrupt an entire shooting session. We just took our twin sons to see Santa. They were so excited to see the pictures. I loaded the card on my Mac, and ... nothing was there.Imagine our disappointment. I see from other reviews this is not uncommon for this card.I don't know if anyone in our family will ever purchase another Kingston product again - ever.I wish there were zero or even negative stars for this pathetic item. Thanks Kingston.Update: we will never again buy Kingston memory products as a result of this experience. In fact, we will go so far as to not buy any computer which has Kingston RAM as OEM - which many do, so we recommend checking. Why risk our memories to Kingston when others (SanDisk, Transcend, PNY) are readily available, similarly priced, and never failed us?Nonetheless, if (actually "when") you lose pictures from Kingston cards, take solace that we had a great experience downloading and using CardRescue from [...]. It actually recovered our lost Santa pictures. It is remarkable and amazing.

Despite all the performance complaints here, I was able to get class 10 performance out of this product, or at least close enough to chalk it up to PC configuration issues. With Flash Toolkit Pro 2.01 I got a solid >13MB/sec write on the low level benchmark.Using file level benchmarks that others ran, I got up to 8837KB/sec, which falls short of the 10MB line, but my PC isn't truly set up for performing benchmarks. (see the images)Like some other reviewers, I'm also an Engineer (the ABET accredited sort, not the Microsoft certified sort), and my degree is in Computer Engineering. I work closely with hardware as an embedded systems engineer.Unlike some others, I realize how difficult proper benchmarking is. For example, did anyone reformat their card? I can get really poor performance out of any flash card by choosing a block size that's really small (resulting in a very large FAT table, and lots of FAT table accesses, adding a lot of overhead and slowdown.) My test was on the device out of the sealed package, with no formatting performed. (although later tests reformating at 64k block size got the same results.)I wonder what kind of reader was used, at least one seems to have used their pentax camera. I used a cheap kingston USB 2.0 multi-card reader (not ideal, and probably held my numbers back some).I also wonder how many others disabled their virus scanners. Don't blame Kingston for slowdowns caused by extra software on your desktop virus scanning every read and write. Your camera won't do this anyway, so it doesn't matter for shooting speed.I took some efforts to make a good benchmark, killing off all my applications, disabling AV (but not uninstalling it, so its driver level hooks were still in place), killing off most of my tool-tray items, etc. Even that isn't really quite far enough, as the AV was still installed (and hooking), and I still had a network connection (allowing background update checks to run).Ideally for something like this, you should be using a dedicated system that can only read and write flash cards, without extraneous software like a multi-tasking operating system, etc, but that's not really practical at home. That said, my crude efforts did result in file performance with values approaching 10MB/sec. I could go further, and I expect that uninstalling my AV entirely would push it up to the 10MB line, particularly considering the "low level" results (without file system overhead) were well over the 10MB line.Remember, there's lies, damn lies, and benchmarks. Good, solid, unadulterated benchmarks are very difficult to make. It's very easy to either intentionally, or unintentionally, forget something and bias your numbers.

Also looking for a good value to provide some more memory for older tech items that do not accept SDHC cards, I gave this Kingston double pack a try. It was nearly 2 for the price of 1 on sale at the time and included the SD adapter too. They were packaged securely and not hard to open. Had no problems with either memory card and both came out of the box formatted with a FAT file system at about 1.81GB storage capacity. The SD adapter also worked fine. The SD adapter was marked from China and the 2 memory cards from Taiwan. A little concerned about the earlier review noting poor speeds from the Taiwan cards, here is what my own benchmark testing showed using CrystalDiskMark and a 100MB test file on a Windows PC with a USB2.0 microSD card reader: Sequential Read : 15.700 MB/s Sequential Write : 2.930 MB/s Random Read 512KB : 15.141 MB/s Random Write 512KB : 0.659 MB/s Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 2.273 MB/s [ 554.9 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 0.006 MB/s [ 1.5 IOPS] Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 2.381 MB/s [ 581.3 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 0.006 MB/s [ 1.4 IOPS](Both cards tested nearly the same.)Have no problems reading from the two cards at all, but the write speeds were a bit disappointing. I've got some other non-HC memory cards (different mfgr) older than these that write about 3x as fast (in the 9MB/s sequential write, 5MB/s random write 512KB range) using this same test, however these Kingston's read faster.Ideally, if using to store MP3 files, pics, or other stuff to just read back on a player, phone, digital picture frame, or something, they read back quickly. If using in a camera or other device to write a lot to the card at one time there could be some lag time depending on the size of the pics or amount of data being written, but they are certainly still functional. Would probably not recommend these for a tablet, unless it is just casual storage due to the slower random speed results, get a newer SDHC card instead of whatever class you want.Other thoughts: No jewel or soft plastic storage case is included with these, unless you want to use the packing insert that snaps together. It would have to be trimmed down and is not likely to last long. For the price though, I still consider it a good value for these older cards along with Kingston's Lifetime Warranty.

Bought the Kingston Ultimate XX 16GB after reading reviews at tomshardware.com. Toms-hardware testing show these cards can perform close to what they claim. i.e 35MB/sec write speed. I was wrong! This card only did around 15MB/sec Write & 20MB/sec Read when I tested my self using a USB3 cardreader and also compared on my camera to other Class 10 cards. I bought this for fast writes on a Canon T4i DSLR for continuous shooting in RAW (Cannon T4i Supposedly can write close 30MB/sec). But this card do not perform as advertised. I was disappointed. Look like the slower version of the card with the wrong-label perhaps. I would not recommend this card if you are buying this for higher read/write performance.

I purchased 2 of these cards because, like other reviewers on here, believed in the Kingston brand and had not had problems with their products in the past. In fact, I own several of their usb hard drives and have always been happy with their performance.Again, like other reviewers on here, I found this card to be awfully, awfully slow. Which I suppose I could live with - I'm not shooting high action scenes on a daily basis. However, what I am shooting I would prefer to be able to view at least once after taking a shot. This card prevents that from happening due to the frequency of corrupting the images when transfering from card to computer, or previewing them in-camera after shooting. I tried to take pictures on 4 different days, and every single day wound up with more shots that were not viewable / corrupted / had a write error than ones that were viewable.I lost several pictures from the family being over on Easter weekend, several product photography shots for clients, etc. Important stuff that I trusted Kingston with backing up for me. And it wasn't even as though I'd left the images on the card for a long time and never got around to backing them up. Most of them I would take the shots and attempt to transfer them to my computer mere hours later, all to discover that the majority of them had become garbage.Extremely disappointing. What's worse is that I waited to fill my Sandisk 16gb Class 10 card before breaking these ones out and am now past the return date.Side note: The Sandisk 16gb 30mb/s is a DREAM, and i'll probably just go pay the extra amount to get a card I know I can rely on.Thanks for nothing, Kingston. I'm officially off your brand.

I have purchased Kingston cards in the past and had great success with them, so I ignored the bad reviews, which was a poor decision. I placed this card in my small hd camcorder, and all the videos came out very choppy, I have tried numerous other cards (some lower class cards and other class 10 cards) and this is the only card I had issue with. So I figured it couldn't handle video and transferred it to my regular point and shoot camera hoping it would be able to at least be able to record pictures. It worked fine for a few months and one day it just decided not to work, and I lost all of the pictures on the card. Horrible unreliable product

This tiny thing redefines quality. I bought this almost two years ago; I have to tell that I almost used it every day everywhere, and still kicking like the first day I got it out of the package. I used the micro SDHC Class 4 by Kingston on my smart phone, tablet, TV, and computers and now it rest in my car with the USB reader. Currently, I use it every day on the car to play my audio books and my music via USB port.I have bought many flash memory, few have survived 12 moths with me, but this one have gone farther than any flash memory have gone. Highly recommend it.
