I owned this printer for all of four weeks. Frustratingly, it refused to select paper from the photo tray. This was made worse by the inability of HP Technical Support to diagnose the issue. Their solution: replace the printer with a refurbished one. That was my cue to to return the printer for a refund. But it is the paucity of user information which is most irksome about this printer. It affects every function and, therefore, worse than a paper handling glitch. Search for the solution to an issue and you are referred to a user forum and plied with products to buy. Why, for example, does the printer you own presents you with a list of printers to buy. At the same time the user manual refers you to itself for solutions it does not contain. News to HP, there is good user information as opposed to documentary fluff.I remember then that some long time ago, I owned an Epson printer. It was a dot matrix (remember those?) that simply would not die although printer technology was changing fast. My first online look at the Epson Artisan, presented 27 video clips of its functions and how to perform each; and I don't even own the printer. Further comparison with Canon products soon reveal the inferiority of the HP Photosmart 7510.Certainly, then, I don't recommend the HP as others are much better. At $50.00 less than the HP (at the time), superior paper handling and user instructions, I have bought the Epson Artisan 730. The Canon PIXMA 892 seems an excellent choice as well.

I received this printer as a gift a little over a month ago and I am not terribly impressed.On the plus side it scans really fast. The quality of the scans are quite good. It prints really fast. And, it has a sleep mode.On the negative it takes up a lot of desk space. It is quite loud and it takes a while to initialize on start-up. Unlike older printers after sleeping for a while it turns itself off and you must manually restart it, it cannot be done from the computer. It only scans to PDF or JPG and doesn't do OCR so you cannot scan documents to text files. Plus, it overrode my flatbed scanner preventing me from using it for OCR scans. The default settings are to print letter size on plain paper. I found that it took quite a bit of effort to get the printer to change to photo paper and stay changed. I still cannot get it to print from the upper paper tray (that is where you have to place the 5X7 & 4X6 photo paper) so I have to print all photos on 8X11 sheets.Basically this printer it good only for photos, as the name states. Perhaps somebody with more computer smart than I can overcome the negatives I found. But, if you are not that person and want to do more than just photos this is not the printer for you.

Recently my wife and I were forced to replace our relatively inexpensive Canon PIXMA printer. My wife is into geneology and as such the ability to create high quality photographs was a major concern for us. Beyond that we are simply not very high tech people so lots of the features being offered on the standard all-in-one printers these days were just not all that important to us. We found that one of the drawbacks of our Canon printer was the high cost of replacement ink cartidges. Frankly, the cost was becoming downright prohibitive. So this time we did a bit of homework, talked to friends, relatives and co-workers and finally settled on the HP Photosmart 7510 All-In-One with Fax Printer. Everyone we spoke with insisted that the HP printers are much more economical to operate. Time will tell but thus far we have been very impressed with this product.Being technologically-impaired I dread the thought of having to install new hardware of any kind. I figured this was going to be an afternoon-long project. But much to my surprise I had the HP 7510 up and running and printing in just about half an hour. It's so simple even a dummy like me can do it! The 7510 is a huge upgrade for us so we really enjoy the touch-screen technology. Thus far the photo quality seems to be comparable with Canon. My wife especially likes the fact that this printer accomodates both standard copy paper and photo paper in the same tray. Having a built-in scanner also allows us to disconnect our old Canon scanner thereby giving us additional space on our computer desk. And the ability to do two-sided printing may certainly come in handy at some point. Since neither one of us owns a mobile device we really have no need for the wireless connection feature at this point but it is nice to know that this option is available to us in the future.At the end of the day the HP Photosmart 7510 All-In-One with Fax Printer proved to be the right printer at the right price point for us. Larger printers with yet more features simply would have been overkill. If you are looking for a reliable and versatile printer for your home or home office the HP 7510 might just be the ticket. Very highly recommended!

Excellent quality and wireless feature very useful. But these 2 features are all defeated by the ink problem. (1) Ink runs out fast. i got about 50 pages from my new printer. (2) The metal contacts between the printer and the ink cartridge seems not reliable. It complaints about a "Cartridge problem" on my Cyan cartridge. I can get it to go away sometimes by cleaning the metal contacts on the cartridge, once by powering down the printer, and once by pressing down on all the cartridges. It complains about other cartridges woo by less often. (And these are original HP cartridges). I am very disappointed with this new printer because I have purchased at least six HP printers in the last 20 years and none of them gave me so much problem. I still have 2 old working HP 6300 printers which have 5 times longer ink life than this one.

I seriously think they design these things to fail just after the warranty expires. 2 weeks after my warranty expired, my printer stopped printing black. Replaced the ink cartridge, cleaned the print head (including using solutions to clean out dried ink), etc. to no avail. I even looked online to potentially replace the print head itself (because I do actually like this printer), but it was being priced at over $140 (even the cheap off-brand ones are around $50! Considering how these printers are built, they really are throw-away items...

I decided to upgrade from a 1yr old Photosmart B209a so I will compare these 2 products against each other.I bought this 7510 for 2 reasons the document feeder and Airprint. Time to go paperless and print from iPhones. (New Years Resolutions early)The first 7510 I received had to be sent back because the web functions wouldn't connect to HP's servers. After working on this for days (not joking) HP sent my case to escalations and offered to send me a new printer (very good job). The second 7510 had no issues connecting to the ePrint web servers problem fixed 2 weeks after buying the printer (YAH!)Now time for the ease of use issues.The software package included with this printer is lame and very basic compared to the software I have with my B209a. The major issue is scanning. My B209a has a software called HP Solution Center very nice program. It also is able to configure picture scanning options better like scanning multiple pictures in a single scan and making individual files. With the 7510 can't do that or at least I haven't found it yet. When you scan a single picture unless you specify the size it will scan the entire flatbed print area and guess who gets to do the cropping? Wrong YOU DO the software doesn't auto-crop. With the B209a cropping was done automatically. This can be a real killer when you are scanning a lot of old pictures like I need to do.You also can't scan into a folder now and your scans go into a monthly folder automatically. Not even an option for this. Simple things that should be a checkbox option at least. You can scan into a folder but not a monthly folder to sort through and file later.I know it sounds like complaints about little things but these are usability issues and TIME savers.In summary the software or lack of good software are my problems with this. the Airprint feature and the ePrint stuff is awesome. I haven't messed with the efax yet but glad to have it.I guess I will just use my old B209a to scan in all those old family pictures to save time.HP if you are listening UPGRADE this software! The software already exists!This is the same review I posted at HP.com on this product.

I have exactly the same problem has a previous consumer. Initially all went fine. Bau after I replaced the original setup cartridges by new HP cartriges the printer informed missing printer head. After turning on and off a couple o f times and reinstalling the cartriges no error message appears, but it prints horribly and wont get better with the common maintainance features such as alignemnet aand cleaning. I think I have to get back to the store to get it repaired but my time is short. I am very disapointed. Nor have I the will to buy new cartriges to see if it is a cartrige problem. Agter all, their so expensive that one shoud not have to afford buying new ones just to test.

HP really let me down this time. After only a few times I've used it over the 14 months I've owned it, I got very frustrated.The most annoying features I've come up with are:- Cheap touch screen- Useless application store- Extremely long warmup period before each print- Bad wifi that can't reconnect automatically after going into power saving mode- A toner that alerted me for being low after 20 pages or so- Long setup process with unnecessary software (really? so many redundant installations on Windows 8? notifications don't stop popping up all day long!)- eFax that doesn't work internationallyThe feeder works fine and the printing quality is fine, but it doesn't justify the rest. Don't buy it for its nice design.

If you use the fax portion you might be in for a surprise. The associated costs that goes along with eFAX caught me by surprise if you send or receive more then 20 sheets a month. Also you do not get a notification for received faxes and they do not automatically print unless you upgrade the service. The printer itself works quite well with the exception of paper bin selection being difficult which for some reason over-rides bin selection from the print screen and it has relatively short cartridge life. For me the eFAX was a show stopper. After two months it went on sale and I ordered another HP printer. Even HP discontinued this printer while its twin non eFAX cousin 7520 is still around.

Great printer. I can only compare it to the cheap printers that I've had in the past. It prints great photo's on the 5x7 photo paper. I needed a fax machine that didn't need a phone line and this solved my problem. It gives you a fax number that uses your wi fi to transmit it. I rarely use a fax so the the free package of 30 pages a month is fine for me, but you can purchase more if you need. Touch screen is nice. Never had a paper jam yet in 6 months of owning it. prints straight from my iphone. Would definitely buy it again.

I had a HPC510 that also allowed you to send and receive up to 20 pages for free. When I moved, that printer was not compatible with the modem I had. I purchased this printer and could not be more pleased. This has a feeder, allows you to print front and back and is reliable. You would not be sorry if you bought this.

I'm giving it 4 stars right now but I may come back and change this. Bought it from Costco in Jan 2012. Overall I like the printer and the features. I wanted multi-page copying and double-sided printing plus wireless. The e-print feature is really nice as well. Was fairly easy to setup and no problem with the wireless connectivity to my router. The printer is pretty big though so I had to make extra space for it. I did notice it made a louder than normal humming noise when its on which I found unusual but disregarded as just a fan.Now a few weeks later though I'm second-guessing things... the printer has driven me nuts a few times. First, it just stopped recognizing my computer so I couldn't print to it anymore. The drivers were good (even reinstalled them), the wireless connection was working, but it was like the interface just went away and nothing would fix it. I eventually went to a wired connection and had the same problem. So I had to uninstall everything and reinstall and now its working again... very annoying. Second, twice now the printer wouldn't turn on and the power light just blinked and the "HP" symbol appeared in the screen but nothing happened. I let it alone for over 10 minutes but nothing changed and no buttons would affect this situation, nor could I turn it off. I eventually had to pull the power plug and then it worked fine. I've had to do this twice now. Very bizarre, but if it does it again then I'm taking it back (others online have reported similar situations when I did a search).The only other annoying feature is the paper tray door doesn't stay closed very well and tends to open alot but that's pretty minor.So I may have a bad unit, we'll see... but if it does what it's supposed to do then this is great.

My printer will not print black. It was working fine for about a year. Then one day I printed using the double sided feature. (The printer is on a flat surface.) Now it no longer prints black. There is an error message saying that the print heads can not be aligned. Looking on the Internet, others are having the same problem. The suggested solution is to buy and install a new print head, which costs about $75.HP Photosmart 7510 All-in-One with eFax Printer

I was forced to trade in my super reliable workgroup HP LaserJet printer for an all-in-one that had 'photo-printing' and I have regretted every minute of it. This device was falling off the WiFi network on a regular basis to the point where we just stopped trying, but mysteriously it improved. These days getting it to print photos takes an act of god, and you can just forget about using the document feeder. In fact, my biggest complaint is the unbelievably bad document feeder. It can't manage to pull in any single document consistently. My philosophy has always been that all-in-one printers are a bad idea and this printer confirmed it. If your all-in-one device costs $200 it would be better just to buy a printer that cost that. Then maybe you would have a chance at getting a working printer.

The HP Photosmart 7510 has worked well for us. Wireless set up was easy. All one has to do is follow the instructions on the screen of the printer and the set up CD that comes with it. I chose the 7510 over the 7520 because Consumer Reports indicates that the quality of the photo output is better. I don't know about that, but I do know that the quality of photos printed on photopaper by the 7510 is excellent. I am very happy with the printer.

I bought this printer based mostly on reading other peoples reviews. I print a lot of pictures and wanted a printer that I would be happy with doing this. The first time I replaced the 'yellow' ink cartridge, all my pictures printed in yellow. I had purchased a full set of all the ink cartridges to have on hand. So, on my own, I replaced all the ink cartridges that came with the printer with the ones I had purchased. After that, all the pictures were pinkish! I chatted with 3 different representatives. The last one had me replace the Magenta ink with one I had on hand since the pictures were pink. No improvement at all. She then ordered a new printhead. When it came, that took care of the problem. It came with a new supply of ink cartridges. I had used LOTS of photo paper and opened several new ink cartridges to see if it was printing any different before the printhead was replaced. I find that the ink cartridges DO NOT print nearly as many copies as it states it will. I am very disappointed in this feature. It does a super job printing in black and the two-sided printing is a plus for this printer. However, I am going to look for another printer as I cannot afford the cost of the ink cartridges.

I've read many reviews on all the printers currently available. Despite the negative reviews I've read here I decided to try the HP and I'm not disappointed. Contrary to what others have said the software is great, the setup is a breeze and quality is much better than expected. My main use for this printer is for photos and they are stunning. I normally print 8.5 by 11. and the prints are actually better than from a photo lab. I like the fact this printer has 5 cartridges. Point of fact, all printers guzzle ink and that's simply because they put ink on the paper. This printer is no worse than others I have used. Oh by the way if you want great photos then buy great paper. Note some papers need less ink therefore varying consumption. This printer is very quiet. There is no static buzz at all from mine. The printer is very fast. The setup using the HP software was flawless. Simply follow the directions and you won't have any trouble. Wireless works like a dream. I'm sending print jobs from 2 laptops and an ipod touch without any issues whatsoever. I use a Netgear wireless router which I know from experience is superior to other brands. Perhaps the issues other have had were due to the brand router they are using. HP has set the benchmark with this model.

This is a GREAT printer and system. It had everything I wanted. However, it DOES NOT WORK unless plugged in ot the computer by a USB cable. There is a FIRMWARE issue that needs to be repaired.The main feature, being able to operate on a wireless network, operates OK... but when the device goes into energy saving mode... it will not auto-wake when a printjob is sent. the only way to get it to start printing again is to unplug it for 30 seconds and restart it. There is no option to turn off the energy save-mode, only to set it to a 5, 10, or 15 minute delay before going to sleep.I spent several multiple-hour phonecalls on the phone with HP customer support. They even mailed me another brand new device. After that one also failing to work, the HP rep advised me they have a Firmware issue that prevents the printer's from being utilized on some wireless routers after going into sleep mode. I use a Dlink wireless router, and tried my old linksys as well but both did not work. Setting up my iPhone as a personal HotSpot (basically turning my iPhone into a router...) the printer WOULD wake from sleep mode for my computer.I finally reached a high enough level tech that said they are working on the firmware issue, but do not have a launch date expected anytime soon. This printer is known to have issues communicating with many routers, and has a high failure rate when dealing with Apple computers.

It was easy to set up, it's easy to use and I've had no problems in 8 months. Only quirks are that it shakes whatever table I put it on when it's warming-up and the HP ink cartridges don't contain much ink so I'm buy cartidges more than I expected to. I've scanned documents, made copies and printed documents with it. I like it. Not too large to go on a desk next to a computer, but I have it on a separate stand since it moves so much when I start it up.

I had no problems following the instructions for installation provided by HP. I love all the features (includes free Faxes up to 20 per month) and the printing is superb. It is the best printer I have had to date.

Way too expensive to operate as it rejects refilled cartridges. Also a bit on the finicky side. I often have to call support to get it working and they are not open on the weekends when I use the printer at my home.
