I read the other reviews and bought a HP 920C printer with reluctance since two HP 600 series printers each broke down in less than a year without using them much. Would the printer work with Windows 95? Will I end up upgrading the whole system before I would otherwise need to upgrade?The only problem was that a setting (Raw Spool-whatever that is) needed to be changed. Instructions popped up, were easy to follow, and worked. The print has a clean sharp appearance. Ink dries instantly. It's quick and quiet and priced right.This dinosaur system isn't extinct yet. The printer works fine with Windows 95. I haven't had to upgrade yet.

The only thing that kept me from rating it 5 stars is the fact that the initial setup didn't go as smoothly as it should have.It is so quiet that you very literally have to stand next to it to tell if it's printing. The print speed is fast enough; it's not extremely slow. This is not the model to get, however, if you're looking for lightning speed. I use a parallel port connection, so that is probably why there's a slight delay in getting the print information to the printer.The print quality is OUTSTANDING! I only print photographs once-in-a-while, so I didn't buy the machine for that, but you can! Even on regular paper, the printed photographs don't even look computer generated.After set-up, I'd give this printer a 5 star rating. It's a definate value for the money. I doubt the more expensive models would do much better.

I have owned it now for about 2 months. Installation was a breeze. I use it for occasional printing. no complaints printwise. B&W prints are nice. Color prints are awesome... though I am sure it uses a lot of ink which is where the cost is involved....

I've tried two Lexmark printers: Z51 and Z53. The Z51 was so-so and the Z53 was pretty good. However, both sucked ink faster than Dracula sucks blood.The P1000 prints incredible pictures without draining the cartridge as quickly as the Lexmarks did.IMHO, this is the best printer you can buy for the price. Cartridges are expensive but refill kits aren't...and the refilled cartridges print as well as the originals.You will NOT be disappointed!!

If your one of those people still struggling with a 5 year old printer, you'd be CRAZY not to pick this one up. It's a GREAT printer at a GREAT price. I couldn't be more pleased with it. I initially bought it to print out papers for college, but ended up using it almost every day. The speed is what makes it so useful. It's no longer a pain to print a screen from a website, or an receipt from an online order. This thing is QUICK. It's also Hewlett Packard, so your getting a brand name printer at a generic price.Highly Recommended.Good luck and take care.

I had to replace my Lexmark printer after it mysteriously died. I need to find an inexpensive replacement, and chose the HP 920. Wow! It prints better than my last printer -- quiet motor and the colors are sharp and vivid. No banding, just beautiful color. I highly recommend this printer for the price.BUT ...I had problems loading the software. Apparently, McAfee Virus Shield reads some of the HP files as viruses. It took me a very long time to get this printer up and running, even after I disabled the Virus Shield. It was well worth the effort, though.

I bought a Cannon 300 when in a pinch for a printer based on other site recommendations. But it is only a USB printer, and does not include a cable. The 920c will print either via USB or parallel, and is faster and quieter. (No cables though.)I've owned 3 other HP printers, and this one is the best of all of them, despite being so inexpensive.

Don't let the size of this printer fool you. This printer delivers excellent print quality, being able to print borderless 4x6 prints is a great feature. One of the greatest feature is being able to print on the road without a computer directly from a memory card, it also supports 4 memory card formats.

This HP is the best value in printers. I shopped, & shopped again. What I discovered is this -- there is no better buy out there!There are other good printers -- make by the folks at Epson. These generally: 1) Cost More: To Gain The Same Features. 2) Have Inferior "Build Quality." 3) Are Earsplitting: In Comparision. 4) Have Much More Expensive Ink Cartridges. *** No such complaints with my HP ***Seting this HP up was a snap -- even for me?!Lastly, Just purchas this HP & SAVE SOME MONEY. :-)

HP quality. Buy any kind of photo paper and print out a digital image on the full page it looks incredible. a pic that size would cost like 8 bucks to get devloped. and you get it for about a 1.35. (about 85 cent for the sheet of paper and 50 cents worth of ink). a new full 78 tricolor ink catride will give 60-70 full page color prints

I bought this thing based on the reviews I read here and elsewhere. It took a while to receive after I ordered, but it was worth the wait. Print setup was a snap. Print quality, especially when using good (photo) paper and the highest setting, is remarkable. Bright colors, sharp detail - for the price, simply amazing. We'll see how well it holds up over the long run, but for now, I give this my absolute highest recomendation.

I have owned this printer since Christmas ('01) and have had nothing but success with it. The print speed is great for text documents. I was also able to print great looking glossy slides for a poster presentation. The print cartridges seem to have a pretty good lifetime, as well. I haven't had any problems with paper jams. It has handled some documents with pretty hefty memory neeeds without locking-up too. Definitely, well worth the cost!

The printer is great. I couldn't be happier with it, especially since it is so inexpensive. The thing I don't like is the fact that the ink costs an arm and a leg -- check out the cost of HP cartridge 78...If you print many photos, the ink costs start to add up--mainly if you are doing full letter size prints. However, it's still much cheaper than getting film developed.

The warrantee is only 90 days. Mine [stopped working] at 100 days. The processor inside went nuts. Avoid this model, if not HP, like the plague.

Having previously owned an Epson 780 (wow, what a loud printer) I decided to go back to HP and I was not dissapointed. Photo print quality (at 2400x1200) is wonderful -- bright, accurate colors with excellent shadow detail. HP's print driver software allows you to edit colors and levels but this is best done in Photoshop or other photo editing software. Also, it's very quiet (a consideration when you're the only one up late printing). I have had no paper misfeeds as I did in older HP printers -- even thick photo stock fed well.Setup was a breeze. Installed the USB software, plugged in the printer, and away I went. All in Windows XP.The printer does use a good deal of ink and HP ink is not cheap, hence the four stars instead of five.

this printer is outstanding.photo quality is perfect.ease of install and operation is great. if you don`t have a photo printer this one`s for you. and the price you can`t do much better than this. this printer sold for $ 499.00 when it first came out. don`t pass on this deal !

I've had my printer for about 2 years. This printer does make good color prints, but I wish I had purchased an Epson, because the HP will not handle heavy card stock well at all. Using the rear manual paper feeder can be a nighmare. As in one of the previous reviews, I also ended up throwing away as much paper as I used. In order to get 65 invitations printed, I used 125 pieces of paper. That was a big disappointment. I've owned an Epson in the past, which does handle heavier papers with ease and I intend to go back to them.

My old clunker died a few weeks ago and I needed a replacement fast. Boy, am I glad I found the Deskjet 920. It's at a great price for those on a student's budget, ad you will not be disappointed by its performance. I was pleasantly surprised by its speed and resolution.Printing off the web is slow, but tolerable. All around, a great buy for anyone who is not routinely printing out Russian novels. You can't go wrong with a HP.

This printer will do everything that you would want from a low cost high output machine. The HP 1000 is the best in the photo series and I would recomend this printer to all my friends.Try it, you will like it, like all HP products.

I've owned mine for a couple of years, and have gotten good results with it. The main reason I chose this printer was for its ability to print on 11 X 17 paper. I've made some very nice 2-page real estate fliers using this size paper. My only gripe is that it does not handle heavy card stock well at all, even carefully using the rear manual paper feeder that provides a straight path. Every time I try, I end up throwing away as much as I use. That was a big disappointment.

The HP Deskjet is an oustanding printer for the money! I've shopped for weeks checking reviews comparing printing qaulity and price. I could not find a better quality photo printer in it's price range! Compare Prices and quality output at any store and you will find the same for yourself! Contrary to other feedback here, I have had no trouble at all with paper jams. There ofcourse is a drawback to this printer and for this reason only did it not recieve five stars from me, it takes 3 to 5 minutes to print a 2400X1200 dpi photo. For the price you can't beat it!!
