Not only is it great for Gaming it's also great for watching live streaming events on TV.
The laptop itself comes with all of the standard ports you need, plus one of the newer Type C USB ports and a SD media card reader (so I can just plug my phones SD card right in it (instead of using a USB cable). I have already found that the Wireless ability of this laptop to be great, I actually walked outside my house with it and it picked up the signal from my router at over 50 ft away thru 3 solid brick walls.
The green back-lit keyboard is super cool at night too, just right for night time computer use without turning on my desk's light.
Hewlett Packard came up with a Winner with this one due to it's lightweight design, fast processor, powerful graphic card, huge amount of RAM, lightening quick Solid State Hard Drive and just it's overall aesthetics are a beautiful piece of workmanship.
It should be noted that this laptop does not have a Optical drive for playing CD's or DVD's so you might want to grab one from Amazon like I did.
I highly recommend this HP Laptop...

I was so excited to receive this HP laptop, as my other laptop has pretty much run completely out of space and I cannot figure out how to free up any more. (Deleting things seems to free up space only temporarily.)
Well I was sorely disappointed to find out this HP laptop comes with Windows and Candy Crush. No Office. No Word. No Excel. And to get Office on the HP is going to cost me quite a bit. I guess this is the norm for Windows based computers, but it made me regret ordering this instantly. (Apple offers their equivalent features for free.)
Now- if you only want it for gaming, I suppose whether it comes with Office installed or not is not an issue. It seems sufficient in areas such as speed, video quality, processing power, and memory. The sound leaves something to be desired and the screen needs constant adjusting because any little movement seems to tilt it out of place. (And I noticed another reviewer mentioned the screen feels flimsy- this is true, though I hadn't noticed until that reviewer pointed it out).
The battery leaves a lot to be desired. I get maybe 8 hours of consistent use out of it before it needs to get charged again. Less if I'm doing more than surfing the web.
I also think the controls are really wonky. Touching the touch pad is equivalent to a click, but only in some circumstances. If I am trying to highlight text for example, I have to actually press the touch pad, and then put another finger down to scroll and highlight. This is really annoying. It is way too easy to just put your finger down on the touch pad and click something, and it is way too difficult to press the touch pad to highlight text and actually get it to work since that is also the equivalent of double clicking.
Lesson learned anyway. I'll go back to gaming on my console, and I'll keep using my old laptop until I can manage to upgrade.

This is my first time to have an HP computer. Set up was pretty straightforward once I found the power button. A little guidance on that would be nice from the manufacturer. It's on the top of the keyboard on the left. The unit runs quietly and does not get hot like some of the others I have. The keyboard is OK. The characters are backlit with a bright green light which doesn't do much for me and the alphabet is some sort of modern thing where the "A" doesn't look like an A. I'll adjust.
What I'm not impressed with is the construction of this. The top is very flimsy when you open and close it. Kind of bendy and thin. Not framed well like others I have had. It will be fine for me in my studio, but I don't think it would hold up to being carried around and banged about.
I also don't much care for the touchpad at all. It seems hypersensitive even set on medium touch and requires multiple fingers to scroll and capture. I never could figure out how to get it to grab something to copy and paste. I'm off to get a mouse as soon as I'm finished.
Processing time seems fast. The display is very clear and the colors are true. As an artist this is important for the work I do. Peripherals all connected and installed easily. All in all I am pleased to have this.

The only big complaint I have is the front edge is super sharp and can really hurt your palms. I guess it depends on your posture. Anyway I bought some adhesive laptop palm pads and that fixed the issue. Keep in mind the case is aluminum there so you can't file it down without exposing the metal under it.
And I have some minor issues with the touchpad. It seems overly sensitive and I frequently accidentally set it off by when typing. I even cranked the sensitivity all the way down, but it didn't seem to matter. And the right corner click is horrible. I much prefer the buttons. You have to hit it in the exact right place or it screws up. Luckily you can avoid it completely by using a two finger click instead. Plus the touchpad is flush, making it easy for my palm to slide over it, not feeling where it's at.
The rest of it is pretty spectacular though. The sound fills a small to medium size room pretty well. Really fun to listen to music on. The screen is really sharp, can see amazing detail. And it gets plenty bright. Maybe a little too much so, I was getting a little eye strain at first. But I turned on the "night light" function and that really took the strain down. I can basically stare at it all day now.
Love the backlit keyboard, leave it on all the time. It has two brightness settings. Gaming works about as well as expected given the specs. It boots in less than 10 seconds and never seems to get overloaded or bogged down. So performance wise I'm very happy. I love the look and feel. Very slick.

My computer's screen got broken within a couple of months (yes, accidentally, so that's on me) so I tried to find a replacement. The 16.1'' screen is impossible to find anywhere so I had to contact HP directly. They charged me $400 in advance for the service order and sent a pre-addressed box to the wrong address. Tried to sort it out with customer support and after two weeks was told that I have to cancel the first repair order and request a new one and PAY for it, mind you, while they send me a refund (within 5 days). So, basically, I will have to pay $800 beforehand to TRY to get the screen fixed (nothing tells me they won't screw up the address again) and see if and when they refund the first charge. Incredible!
DON'T BUY ANY HP PRODUCTS unless you buy an extended warranty, and even then it's a lottery ticket with their service.

Overall this laptop performs pretty much as expected. Not bad for Low-Medium 1080p settings on most games and High-Ultra 1080p in some rare cases. Smooth, no stuttering, actually surprisingly playable. It gets the job done, however I recommend uninstalling ALL the bloatware like McAffee, NordVPN, HP Software, etc. The OMEN control panel is nice for monitoring thermals and network performance but not much else. Pretty no frills-bare bones modus operandi for this little guy. It's a bit heavy, but some people might like that about it. Nice construction, feels really solid and it's quiet while maintaining decent temperatures. It is what it says it is, nothing more - nothing less. If you can get it on sale and have the extra cash - absolutely grab one.
