I finally replaced my CRT monitor with this LCD wide-screen monitor.I was VERY pleased at how easy it was to set up. And I was pleasantly surprised to see how much more I could see on those many websites which are set up for a wide screen. If you have a "square" monitor now, be warned that the height of a new wide-screen model may not be more than your current monitor.I was sorry I did not get the slightly larger version. (I had measured carefully, and made a conscious choice to go slightly smaller, but if I had it to do over again, I'd get the larger one!)Very nice looking. It tilts. I don't notice any reflections on the screen, in spite of having both a window directly opposite the screen, and ceiling lights above and in front of the screen.Disappointments were that the contrast (or maybe the depth of color?) seemed less than with my CRT. I fiddled around to get larger icons. In the end, I also gave up on using any picture as background on the desktop and went for a plain blue screen, which made the icons easier to see.The other reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is the limited amount of physical adjustment to the screen. The most notable lack is the inability to raise or lower it. Frankly, the tilt adjustment is enough for me (and you ARE supposed to look DOWN at your monitor), but some might find it frustrating.This monitor did what I wanted. It freed up desk space and is much easier for me to move by myself, without help. Overall, a winner.

This monitor is great for the price and setup was super easy. It's nothing really fancy but it has a great picture and I don't do anything special on my computer that would require me to have a high-end monitor. The size is great for watching DVDs or video online, although it can be a little awkward for web browsing. I have separate speakers so I haven't heard the sound from the monitor's speakers. Good purchase!

A good packaging value, and a good source for older printers, whose ink may no longer be available at bigbox stores. I was supposed to get free shipping, which would have made this a great bargain purchase, but the vendor refused; it still was comparable in price to what I could have purchased locally.

The product description for the HP 2009M is a bit misleading. The Briteview technology doesn't really "reduce glare." On the contrary, the new fetish with LCD manufacturers now is to go with a glossy screen that ostensibly creates vibrant colors. That's fine if you want a video monitor. But if you do word-processing or any kind of text reading on your computer, these glossy screens are murder on the eyes.Per HP's site, the HP 2009F version of this LCD screen does not come with the Briteview technology, so it's probably the matte screen I really wanted, but unfortunately Amazon doesn't carry that model.I don't know how other people feel about this, but I've hated the shiny LCD screen since it first came out. I'm not sure how it "enhances clarity" if the high-gloss screen makes you squint.

I replaced my failing 19" DCL monitor which was a good buy five years ago. I had some concerns buying the HP 2009, mostly due to the low price for a monitor with built in speakers. I was really surprised when I received it and within minutes had it hooked up and ready to use. The picture quality is outstanding and exceeds my hopes of getting a great monitor for a great price. For the price, I can not truly find any down side to this unit. I strongly recommend this Monitor for day to day use as well as gaming. Amazon delivered the new monitor in a few days and with free shipping. Works for me!!

The HP printer software reported the cartridge as defective and it would not work. Not worth the trouble of returning it.

Having never had a flat panel monitor before(besides the screens on our laptops) we are thoroughly enjoying our 23" monitor. Watching movies or playing video games is so much more enjoyable. As others have said the volume of the speakers is not that good, but if you hook up external speakers it's great!

The picture (VGA) on this monitor is very good. But the sound though the built in monitor speakers it terrible. I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN MY MONEY BACK, MY FAULT, BECAUSE I DIDN'T. Do not waste your money.

Excellent monitor. I like the 20 inch size for various things including security camera monitoring and just hooking up the monitor for viewing. I'm no techie. If something works well, I like it. This is a quality monitor.

I bought this to go with my new HP computer and it matches perfectly. The picture is crisp and clear. The sound is decent as long as you don't plan on using this screen for an entertainment center. Sometimes I've noticed that some of the movies that I watch are just a little too quiet and I'll have the screen turned all the way up as well as on the computer. But I love that you don't need speakers that take up extra space to have sound with your computer. so, for me, it equals out.

Purchased this monitor to go with a new computer. I had a decent flat screen monitor, but decided to get a bigger one. This monitor has a very sharp picture and excellent color. The only thing I'd maybe change is the built in speakers are not quite as loud as some may like, but it's something I can live with. A very good monitor for the price!

Montior went blank with "buzz" noise just after 80 days. Other than that, it is very nice color. Called HP customer service, they agreed to send out new replacement without charge.

This monitor is great. Very clear picture and very easy to install. The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't have a 3.5mm jack for headphones, you have to use the on your CPU. Oh and the volume of the speakers on the monitor could be a little higher, other than it's perfect. If you don't use speakers that much then I really recommend this, but if you use a lot of sound with your computer, you might want to go wtb a different monitor.

I bought this monitor for my new mac mini and the colors are brilliant. For any other mac users (specifically noobs), this will work with the supplied cable that apple sends for DVI monitors.I am coming from a PC that was driving two 17" screens and I really appreciated the extra real estate. I'm not a programmer and video/photo editing is only done occasionally (just family stuff), but there is something to be said about the convenience of two screens. I will say that having this one monitor is working for me right now. I like having a browser open next to a word doc or something similar. Multi-tasking is a definite possibility on this size screen. Would I like to have two? At this price point, yes I would, but for right now it is serving my needs well.I didn't realize how washed out my older Dell LCD monitors were until I set this up next to them so I could transfer files over to the Mac. I ordered from amazon (as I order just about everything here) and there were no issues and no dead pixels.The aesthetics fall in line with the Mac set up and it is very similar to an Apple Display-externally speaking. Like I said, I'm not a pro with the visual media, but this thing is really vibrant. The colors are rich and photos/graphics look so much better on this screen.On this model it is also nice having the option of DVI, VGA, or HDMI. If this helps with your decision. If you are looking for a monitor in this size range, just get it.

This monitor was great within the warranty period. It was broken right after a year. Don't buy this if you want to use for a long time.Sony Timer (from wikipedia)The Sony timer is a Japanese urban legend. Product delivered on time. The "combo pack" were actually two separate boxes. Boxes were slightly dented, which I'll attribute to delivery. Items work well and as expected.Use this product and retailer again? I don't see why I wouldn't.

PROS - nice colors, 1080 resolution, HDMI and VGA inputs.CONS - after about 80 days a blue vertical line appeared about 2/3 of the way from the left hand side of the screen. This line won't go away, even if i reset the monitor, and appears on both my PC's; via HDMI connected to the quad core and the VGA connected to the dual core. both are using different video cards (ati on the quad, nvidia on the dual). Come on guys the NEC this replaced lasted 12 years..Very disappointed considering the cost is well above other companies models!
